Assassination (P, NK, Taro & Vret)
Fri Nov 09, 2012 11:07 pm
- Spoiler:
- Mission Name: Assassination
Rank: S
Type: Assassination
Character Requirements: none
Word Count Requirements: 5000 words
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 4000 ryo
Task: Someone has threatened Konohagakure, the Hokage has recruited you to go and find and assassinate the man before he or his family can harm the village of Konohagakure in any way. Make sure you do not leave any trace that Konohagakure has sent you on this mission.
When Vretyel heard the words of what just occured he was shocked to find out that Vretyel himself was given the task of assassinating somebody in his hidden leaf village. As a 12 year old it was something that Vretyel had a hard time grasping. For a split second, Vretyel wondered if the Hokage had made the right decision to assign him to his task:
You are too young, Vretyel thought to himself as he was given the mission papers, You are not worthy of having the oppurntunity of doing something as dangerous and as important as this. You are 12 years old, how do you know that you will make the right decisions? How do you know that you will be able to carry out this mission, something that a person in the Anbu Black Ops would probably do, you are asked to do it at 12 years old. You are not ready, you still have too much to learn.
As he looked at the Hokage for the last time before undertaking the mission, Vretyel knew fought within himself to know that this was the right thing to do on both the Hokages and Vretyel's part:
You think that you are worthy of taking on a mission of such important, you can't even save yourself and the ones that you want to protect, let alone kill other people who may even have more skills that you. Vretyel would argue inside his mind... The Hokage himself told you that you would be assigned this mission, and you alone have the abilities to do this mission, think of all the other people that he could have assigned to do this mission, and think of the reasons why he chose you to undertake this mission. You are powerful and stronger than many of your peers who are still even in the academy, you could even become more powerful than all the other members in this village combined, and still you are doubting yourself. You have grown so much since that time with Hyuga, you are stonger and smarter, and you are worthy of this task.
With that the argument was over, there was no denying that Vretyel had grown considerably since his first bout with the Hyuga, and he realized that Vretyel is worthy of completing such a task. His partner in this mission, a member of the Senju clan, and another Jounin was named Taro. Vretyel heard of him when he was with Primrose and Nightshade, although he had never truly met the man, Vretyel was convinced that if the Hokage had assigned him to be his partner in his mission that he must be somebody of great power and skill. Vretyel silently waited for the Senju to arrive at the village gates at the time he and Vretyel and he were supposed to start the mission.

Taro had spent most of the night wandering around the
village. Seemingly overnight he had developed a rather bad penchant for
gambling and found himself rather strapped for ryo. So when he received word
that there was a mission to be done, an assassination no less, he jumped at the
idea. Not only would a mission like this put some ryo in his pocket, but it
would also give him a good chance to hone his skills, which had become a bit
rusty as of late.
As he meandered to the front gate Taro pondered the target
of this assassination. Apparently it was some gang leader by the name of Takaro
Yorito who had taken up residence in the shadows of the leaf village. Yorito had
recently been gathering strength-his organization stretched all over the
village hidden in the leaves. Various branches of the gang had been apprehended
and shut down, but when one branch was taken down two more rose to fill its
place. The only remaining option was to take down the head of the beast: Yorito
and his council of five close family members all of whom almost never met at
the same time. Luckily by a quirk of fate there was a inside man planted by the leaf
village higher ups in the gang and just last night he reported that there was to be one
of these rare meeting between all six ringleaders of the gang. And now the task fell to Taro and his partner another Jounin by the name
of Vretyel to bring down all six at once.
Taro did not know much of Vretyel, but he hoped that he
would be helpful on this mission. This mission in particular would be
interesting as it would not require the usual skill set of brute strength and
jutsu spamming. Instead it would require teamwork, stealth, and a fair bit of
charm, because the two leaf shinobi would have to sneak into the casino in which the gang leaders were meeting, eliminate them and then get out without suspicion falling upon them. This mission reminded Taro of his time of a missing ninja as he had done various missions involving assassinations in his time, the only difference now was that he would be helping more than himself-this gang had ruined countless people’s lives and Taro hoped to right those wrongs.
Finally with a strong sense of purpose in his smooth stride
Taro arrived at the village gates where he spotted the boy who could only be Vretyel
seeing as no one else was around-the boy looked young for a Jounin, but Taro
knew not judge a person by their age so he preceded with a cool smile on his
face and called out to Vretyel when he was about three meters away from him “Hey
you there, I assume you are Vretyel.” At this point Taro had closed the gap between him and Vretyel to a comfortable distance so he held out hand for a handshake: “I’m Taro Senju-nice to meet you…We should be off the meeting between these gang leaders will be happening soon.” Taro wasn’t much for formalities, but he figured it would be
good to get to know Vretyel a bit as he would have to depend on him during this
mission.

Re: Assassination (P, NK, Taro & Vret)

“Hey you there, I assume you are Vertyel.” At this point Taro had closed the gap between him and Vertyel to a comfortable distance so he held out hand for a handshake: “I’m Taro Senju-nice to meet you…We should be off the meeting between these gang leaders will be happening soon.” Taro wasn’t much for formalities, but he figured it would be good to get to know Vertyel a bit as he would have to depend on him during this mission.
Vretyel then remembered who this man was, before he was a ninja for the leaf, he knew this man was once a missing ninja himself, and now Vreytel had to deal with him on a mission with a former missing ninja? Vretyel had deep thoughts against working with the former missing ninja:
You are about to do a mission with HIM, he was once a missing ninja who abandoned the leaf long ago, he was a traitor, somebody whom should not be trusted. And the Hokage has you work with him? What is the Hokage thinking. If you were Hokage you would not even allow this man out of his sight. He was given his rank and his leaf headband back in what seemed almost an instant from when he got it. What story does this man have? What secrets about the village and about himself does he keep from the rest of us? For now, you must trust the actions of the Hokage who put you on this mission with him, you have no reason to place trust in him yet, rather you have no reason not to trust the man. You ought to ask him about his experiences, who knows, he may have a story that you don't know about, and you may one day trust him.
Vreytel looked up at Taro who was much taller than the young Jounin, he was older too, and looked to be an experienced fighter who knew the world not differently then what Vretyel thought of it. Vretyel had only rarely been out of the village except for missions, not even to go to the land of the monkeys to train. This man had clearly seen the world from a different view, he had been the scum of the world, a missing ninja, somebody with a purpose but without a home.
"So you, the one whom I was partnered with to get this mission done, knowing your backround, I guess it was a good idea." Vretyel said as he stood up. Vretyel refused the hand of the ninja for the time being, in Vretyel's mind Taro was not worthy of being considered a comrade. The two of them walked to the gates and began walking on the road to the location of the meeting place. Vretyel had many questions for the Senju ninja, however first and foremost he wanted to know more about the mission himself.
"These gang leaders, do you know any of them, do you have any other information about the mission that maybe we should know?" Vretyel asked the jounin as they ran to the location of the Casino.
After that conversation was over Vretyel had to ask the ninja a few questions about him. Vretyel wanted to know more about how Taro was welcomed back into the hidden leaf so easily, but he wanted him to bring it up and tell him, not force him to ask.
"So how are you liking the village now that you are back, you seem to have adjusted well to the village rules and policies I hope?"
"6 people." Vretyel then told Taro as the narrowed the gap between the casino and the two ninja. "All the leaders of the massive Criminal organizaion, this means that they must be planning something big, it would mean that there could be many people at the location that we have to keep our eye on. What plan do you have for the mission, Taro?"
Vreytel had to ask Taro what he wanted to do on the mission, there was no reason for Vretyel to lead the mission since they both were the same rank, it meant, in Vretyel mind, that even though Taro was once a missing ninja, he was the leader of this operation. The Senju was older and had more experience with doing these things, so Vretyel had to at least expect that.

Re: Assassination (P, NK, Taro & Vret)

Taro retracted his hand with a shrug. He had grown used to the constant mistrust people had in him. As a result of his past he had gained very few actual friends. In fact even his neighbor still gave him evil looks, but as a whole he had gotten over it. Instead of trying to convince people with his words he had chosen to prove people’s preconceptions wrong through actions and this mission was one way he was doing it.
it.
I, using the transformation jutsu, appear as a hardened missing ninja and bring you-also under a transformation jutsu if you wish-in to them as a captured leaf ninja. At which point I will demand a audience with the Takaro Yorito. And I am sure you can guess what we will do when we finally do get an audience with him. Granted quite a bit could go wrong, but that’s where improvising comes in. Worst case scenario I have a jutsu that could probably put the whole casino down for a bit. So what do you think?” Taro had only thought of the plan at the spur of the moment, but it seemed like the best shot. Any other way would take far too much time, which was something the two assassins did not have.
While waiting for Vretyel’s response Taro let his mind wander. Had he not turned from the path of a missing ninja someone very well could have been coming after him yet now he was going after a missing ninja-it was almost ironic. Though he could not go down the path of introspection any further, because the two ninja had arrived at the casino. There were various thugs milling about so Taro took shelter in a tree that overlooked the one story building that was the casino.

it.
“I don’t know any of them directly, but I have heard of their ringleader Yorito Takaro…” Taro hesitated a bit. He had heard of Takaro from another missing ninja during his time on the country borders. In fact Taro himself had blown up a warehouse in Takaro’s name-at the time it was just for the money. Though Taro did not really want to go into that part of his life-it was in the past. So, instead he finished his sentence with an equivocal phrase: “…I heard about him from a friend. He’s the scum of the world. In fact I would even say he is the one who gives missing ninja a bad name.”Vretyel wrote:"These gang leaders, do you
know any of them, do you have any other information about the mission that
maybe we should know?" Vretyel asked the jounin as they ran to the
location of the Casino.
Taro chuckled a bit at Vretyel’s question-it was clear he had not been around much. “Oh well last time I saw the village it was in ruin, so yes I would say it is about a thousand times better than back then. As for the rules they are neither here nor are they there. Rules are rules-I would like to think I did not have much to adjust to when I arrived back in the Leaf. When you are out in the wilds on your own you make your own rules and mine paralleled that of the village systems very closely. In fact I only attacked people out of necessity and never killed anybody who didn’t deserve it-much like what we are doing now. It’s rather funny actually in a village we are sanctioned in our killing the only thing that separates us from missing ninja is that we have the “blessing” of a village leader to do it….” Taro trailed off as he noticed that he was rambling about things that were irrelevant to the mission and that made little sense. Either way he doubted that Vretyel would sympathize with his thoughts on the village system, so it was probably for the best to just let it be. So instead of letting his mind dwell on these thoughts Taro picked up the pace.Vretyel wrote:"So how are you liking the
village now that you are back, you seem to have adjusted well to the village
rules and policies I hope?"
Before responding to Vretyel Taro gave it some thought and one idea came to mind, but he doubted Vretyel would like it. Regardless he threw it out there: “Well, this gang has put a bounty on any leaf ninja that are brought to them dead or alive. And it just so happens that we are both leaf ninja. So what I was thinking was thatVretyel wrote:"6 people." Vretyel
then told Taro as the narrowed the gap between the casino and the two ninja.
"All the leaders of the massive Criminal organization, this means that they
must be planning something big, it would mean that there could be many people

Re: Assassination (P, NK, Taro & Vret)

[No worries, I though that I put it]
Vretyel thought in his mind for a second what he was saying, he did not know whether to believe him or not, but at this point, Vretyel just had to take his word as the word of a comrade. He had to trust his Hokage and his village that Taro was telling the truth. It was disheartening to know then that Taro had a friend that knew the man, with that response Vretyel went into some though about the matter at hand.
How do I know that I can trust that he can make the right decisions on the matter, it would mean he could have sympathy for the person if he has to kill him, what if he was not telling the whole truth? You know how easy it is for people to say that they know him from a 'friend', you have had it happen to you before, and you know what happened then, you got yourself caught by a missing ninja along with the person that you love, Ayama. You know that you must keep a close eye on Taro, at the first sign of doubt you know you have to get out of there. He could be leading you into a trap.
"OK, well that is at least good to know Taro." Vretel told the man. "Though I would disagree with you about some things, he is not the reason missing ninja have a bad name, trust me. This is not the first time I have had the experience of meeting and dealing with a missing ninja. Missing ninja are ruthless, cold, and dishonorable killers. They attack the people that you love most, make you do and say things you wish you wouldn't, and this Yorito is just another missing ninja. He made his choice and know justice must be done to him."
Then he drops this on Vreytel, Vretyel had to process this all in mind. It showed a side of Taro that Vretyel did not think that he would have.
In ruin? Does that mean he left just before the Hokage was replaced? Could he have just been lost to the commotion of it all? Something about him does not add up about this. His rules... paralleled those of that he had as a missing ninja? How is this possible? Missing ninja are ruthless and don't care about anybody but themselves, they have no remorse for what they have done, and they don't have to follow the orders of the Kage, how could his rules then be similar to those of village? He never killed anybody unless they deserved it? You know that this has to be a lie, he was a missing ninja, he does not have morals, how can he be telling the trust.
Vretyel just thought about all of this but did not say anything to him about it. Rather he told him more about his beliefs in killing somebody if you are a missing ninja or another village ninja.
"No, that is where you are wrong, sure we are given our blessing from the Hokage to carry out this mission, but we have to in order to keep the village from falling into ruin. Missing ninja kill for fun, they kill because it makes them feel good about themselves, they kill as ninja. Ninja kill for different reasons that is for sure. I kill because justice must done to these people who have done wrong, I fell no remorse for doing so, if it is to protect my village and my friends then I will do what I have to keep this village safe."
Vretyel was stunned to hear these words come out of Taros mouth, he could not believe that he would even consider this as a plan. His first reaction was to charge at Taro and brand him as a missing ninja again, killing him on site. In fact if it wasn't for Vretyel's thoughts he would have done it, but no, he had to think it over. Vreytel stopped moving which prompted Taro to do that same. A look of contemplation would be of Vretyel's place, he was considering all the options in his head:
What else is there that we could do? There is nothing else that you can think of that would lead to a better scenario, going in there and trying to destroy the whole casino was suiside, it would mean that he and taro would die without even making a dent. You have to trust him as a comrade, a fellow leaf ninja, and not just another missing ninja, he should know what to do. However, you know that this is the only way, but there is one thing that you can do.
"Ok Taro, we will have it your way, but there is one think that I want to do before we start."
Vretyel cut his thumb so that blood would drip down, giving him the necessary blood for a summoning jutsu. He then did the hand signs for the jutsu and pounded on the ground. Smoke filled the area and then a little while longer, the signature smoke of Senma, brother to the monkey king. Senma was a little taller than the last time the two met, his hair was still golden brown, covering his entire body, and the only acknowledgment that Senma was there was his signature pipe that he was always smoking.
"Whoa Dude.....whats up my man." Senma would say.
"Hey Senma, this is Taro, he is a....comrade of mind." Vretyel said, looking towards taro.
"Alright dude, what is up? What do you need me to do?"
"Taro, this monkey is going to help us out, he is going to watch the perimeter of the casino, and if any of the leaders try to leave before we can finish him off then he will get them. He will also keep a close eye on our actions, and if anything goes wrong and I don't make it back, he will run back the village and report to the Hokage."
"Now that we are all ready, lets go." Three ran to the casino and got close to the casino, he would then wait for Taro to start the operation.

Taro listened to Vretyel's hidebound rant about the differences between missing ninja and village ninja until at last he finished. Maybe it was the foolishness or maybe just habit, but Taro sighed-Vretyel was indeed young and his views were too simplistic in a world that was anything, but simple. "I will concede that there are some bad missing ninja out there as there are rotten village ninja, but I am proof, whether you trust me or not, that not all missing ninja are as you say and there are a fair bit that are like me I am sure." Vretyel's views seemed far too black in white for Taro's liking, but it was not something he would hold against him. He hoped that as Vretyel would be able to grow past that and see that not all missing ninja are bad and likewise not all village ninja are golden.
"Ok Taro, we will have it your way, but there is one think that I want to do before we start."
Taro merely nodded to Vretyel-he figured that Vretyel wanted some kind of insurance policy, but was thoroughly surprised when Vretyel summoned a pipe toting monkey. He also understood that the monkey was there more to keep an eye on Taro himself more than anything.
"Ok, I get that you probably dont trust me, but for right now you are going to have to otherwise there is no way in hell we are getting in there, so just follow my lead until we get in there otherwise we will be both dead....or worse. Just right now think of as what we are and nothing else: two shinobi of the leaf fulfilling the will of our kage. Oh, and by the way try to look subdued or you may draw attention to us..."
Taro assumed that it would not settle Vretyel's mind in the least, but it was the best he could do as he couldn't have a paranoid partner. Then Taro wove the hand signs for the transformation jutsu and upon completion looked almost exactly the same body type wise, except he now had dark messy blonde hair and a scar running down the left side of his face, but the most distinctive feature of this transformation was the eyes: they were now a cool tempered red.
The now blonde and crazed looking Taro would beckon to Vretyel. Assuming Vretyel were to follow Taro would push him in front of him as they approached the casino. A few of the patrons gave Taro some odd looks-Taro looked more insane than most of the missing ninja that had congregated at the casino. As the pair of soon to be assassins approached the front doors their way was barred by two grizzly looking brutes with dumb looks on their faces. It was at this point that Taro poured on the crazy just a bit. He started laughing under his breathe in a tone that sounded almost maniacal until finally he looked at both the men before him: "I have another one....This one here is a shinobi of the leaf" Taro would try to give Vretyel a small push and then continued with his own leaf headband in hand: "Here is his headband I demand an audience with your boss...He did tell you I was coming didnt he?...I would hate to keep him waiting I know how angry he gets when he is kept waiting" Taro was banking on the fact that these two thugs had no idea who their leader corresponded with. And as luck would have it the two thugs exchanged dumbfounded looks and stepped aside to allow admittance. They also indicated a back room where their leader supposedly was-the stupid brutes.
Taro passed through the crowd of gamblers effortlessly always keeping Vretyel in front of him assuming he did not have other plans. Taro zoned out the background noise of drunk laughing and slot machines. Until at last they arrived at the door knocking sharply on the door he was allowed admittance by a gruff voice on the other side. He would shove Vretyel through the door assuming he did not prevent him from doing so-Taro still needed to keep up the charade until that door closed behind him. With a dull thud Taro heard the door close behind them and lock. Instead of being faced with the six targets Vretyel and Taro had been hunting for they were faced with a group of three thugs. Who blithely informed the duo that they had to preform a pat down on both of them before they could see the Bosses who were in a room further down the hall. Taro sighed the gig was up as they were bound to find weapons on each of them and break Taro's henge, but then again dead men told no tales.
As the three men approached them Taro would speak up hoping that Vretyel would get his obvious signal to get rid of these guys: "Unfortunately I cannot allow you three to do that. Instead I would like to welcome you to the last few seconds of your lives." Taro may have overdone the crazy part, but he felt it came off with a certain ring to it. As he finished his sentence there were already two guards on either side of him while one was walking straight towards Vretyel. Taro would allow Vretyel the task of taking down that one coming towards him mean while Taro would quickly form the tiger hand seal and have his arms become rock hard-this was the power of the earth spear jutsu. With a simple thrust of his arms toward their respective guard Taro sent them flying into the wall on either side-most certainly dead after having their nasal bone thrust into their brains from the blow. He would then wait for Vretyel to make the next move after he dealt with his guard-Taro thought it would be good for Vretyel to lead the final attack on the conference room down the hall after all the bosses were not that strong in the least-they only held power over a great many ninja, but without that they were nothing and frankly rather ordinary.

Vretyel had to concede to Taro about his views on missing ninja.
"You are right, I am only 12 years old, I only know of the missing ninja with the characteristics of the people that I describe." And that was that.
Vretyel had to trust Taro, there was nothing more that he could do, and with Senma only as a watcher for the two of them he had to continue on with the plan. As they passed through the multiple groups of guards and into one of the inner rooms of the Casino, he was waiting for this to happen, something where the loyalty of Taro would come into question, and that did occur.
For most of the experience Vretyel followed Taro's orders, he allowed him into the casino and into the room with the three missing ninja, which would be the stopping point of Vretyel's and Taros gig, and now it was time for taro to prove himself.
Instead of killing Vretyel, he killed the two ninja that were right next to him, something that Vretyel expected would happen, but he wasn't entirely sure. Had Taro made his choice, had he truly become a leaf shinobi?
As the missing ninja had charged towards Vretyel he charged his lightning gloves with his Inazumahi lighting attunement jutsu. Lighting dripped from Vretyels hand and burned the rug under him. As he charged, Vretyel effortlessly touched the man before he could do any harm to Vretyel. The man would become Paralyzed and burned, then silently he would be slit in the throat by Vretyel's kunai he had taken out. After that the two would presumably go into the inner chamber of the room, all 6 leaders of the gang were in there.
"I have this one Taro." Vretyel would say, he took his staff out, reformed it, and charged it. He would fire 6 conductors inside the room, then signaling Taro to body flicker out of the room immediately, going back to where Senma was, with Vretyel doing the same. Each of the conductors would then explode in the room, white hot and electrocuting each crime boss, withing a few seconds the entire room would be burned, with all the bosses in there burnt to crisp. The rest of the casino would not know this was occurring, the entire act would be very silent compared to the noise in the casino.
If the two ninja got back he would tell Senma that he was free to go. Then Vretyel would extend his arm out to Taro for a handshake. "Good Job, Taro." Vretyel would say, as the two would walk back to Konoha, with another mission completed.

After Taro and Vretyel had eliminated the three guards proceeded to the conference room where Taro watched as Vretyel fired something in the room, but Taro was not about to stick around to find out. He body flickered after Vretyel and was back outside with no one the wiser. His henge now deactivated he shook Vretyel's hand. "You too" he replied rather weakly. It had been a long day and Taro had been up for about a whole day straight with little time for repose. But, unfortunately going through the casino sparked that unquenchable want to gamble again in Taro so he would probably end up staying up another sleepless night, but that was for later tonight. For now Taro let his mind drift and for some reason he felt more free than earlier that morning. Maybe it had been eliminating the missing ninja, but whatever it was Taro felt lighter-then gain he was hungry...maybe that was it. After another hour or so of walking the pair arrived back at the leaf village and they invariably went their separate ways: Taro went to the entertainment district where he would remain for the remainder of the night and most of the next day.
