The sun shone brightly as Suzaku sat quietly at his desk taking care of today’s paperwork. It had been a…. interesting week. Not only had his sanity started slipping, but he had also been becoming more and more nocturnal, making it hard to sleep at times. But today that would change! Suzaku stood up after a few moments, setting down the pen he had in hand and placing his kage hat on the papers. He opened the door and exited the office, telling the guards he was going to go for a small walk. Suzaku then wondered the busy streets of Kirigakure, the children running, the parents buying supplies for the week, or the night. He seemed to be doing an okay job as a kage. Well, for now at least. After walking for a few minutes, Suzaku approached a small restaurant. Feeling a bit hungry, he entered. Getting a bowl of Ramen and devouring it in seconds. After paying for the meal, Suzaku looked at the man sitting next to him. Or to be more specific, the book he was reading. It was titled “The guide to bas Ninjutsu”. This man appeared to be in his late teens but was still studying the basic ninjutsu of the academy, which surprised Suzaku. Maybe he was held back……. A lot? Suzaku then exited the ramen shop, walking to the academy and watching today’s class too see how the kids were coming along. He would watch for about 20-25 minutes before getting up and asking them to follow him outside, he had a little surprise planned for them. When outside, Suzaku asked which one would like to challenge the Suzaku first. No one moved for a few moments until a young boy raised his hand and shouted: “I do! I do!” Smiling, Suzaku motioned him forward and got into a battle ready stance. He looked at the boy and spoke
“Now, in this battle we will be testing your knowledge on the basic Ninjutsu techniques and what Ninjutsu is. First off, can you explain what ninjutsu is?”
“Umm…… No sir…. They don’t teach us that……”
Suzaku then blinked, surprised at the kid’s response. Did they really not teach this at the academy? Then, a memory came to Suzaku’s mind. They didn’t really teach that at the Tengakure academy either…. Which meant…. Suzaku didn’t know what ninjutsu was! Surprised, Suzaku stood there in silence for a few moments before speaking again.
“No matter, let’s see what you’ve got!”
Suzaku then got into his battle stance again as the kid launched a kunai at Suzaku, which he easily deflected with his own kunai. The kid would then use the clone technique to confuse Suzaku as the real one approached Suzaku from behind and punched him in the back, catching him by surprise and sending him forward a bit. Surprised at the kid’s skill, Suzaku activated the first level of his bijuu cloak, summoning a single tail as he wrapped it around the kid, summoning coral spikes that would surround the kid in a giant circle. He would hear the students gasp at the sight, the kid seeming like he was about to cry. Seeing this, Suzaku causes the spikes to shrink and sets the kid down, deactivating his bijuu cloak after doing so. He then spoke once more:
“You see, you have to know your basic ninjutsu. Or you may end up in a situation like he was. There are many, and I mean MANY more shinobi that are much more stronger then I am. So, I advise you to pay attention during class. Now, return to your classroom.”
Suzaku then followed them all in, exiting the academy in the process. He was still in awe that he didn’t even know how to explain ninjutsu, only how to perform the basic techniques. Not wanting any of this to get out, he hurried back to his office to see if there was anything to help fix this situation. Getting into his office, Suzaku asked his guards if there were any books on Ninjutsu around his office. One of the guards responded with a quick ‘Yes’ and quickly brought Suzaku a book titled ‘The basics on Ninjutsu’. Dismissing his guards, Suzaku quickly started reading the book, trying to find any needed information to begin training ninjutsu. The book read as followed:
“Ninjutsu (忍術; Literally meaning "Ninja Techniques"), is a term referring to almost any technique which allows the user to do something that they otherwise would be incapable of doing, including the usage of weapons. Unlike genjutsu, which makes the opponent see illusions, the effects of ninjutsu are real. They vary greatly in purpose, with the simpler ninjutsu serving such tasks as transforming the user or allowing them to evade attacks. These techniques are often second-nature for experienced shinobi, who can use them at will. More complex ninjutsu manipulate one's surroundings or utilise the elements, respectively serving such tasks as healing others or manipulating nature transformations.
Ninjutsu, most of the time, relies on chakra and hand seals to be effective. The hands are put in sequential positions that moulds and manipulates chakra in the necessary manner to perform a technique. This is not always needed, however, and some techniques become second nature to experienced ninja, after which they can perform them at will.
Additionally, there is the kind of technique that can be classified as a basic or advanced elemental technique, the basic type are techniques with specific elements (wind, water, fire, earth, or lightning), the advanced type combine two or three of the basics elements and creates a new one.
When creating a ninjutsu, the two methods of manipulating chakra are referred to as shape transformation and nature transformation:
Shape transformation deals with controlling the form, movement, and potency of chakra.
Nature transformation usually deals with changing the physical properties of chakra into an element.
These two methods can be implemented separately or together in order to create a ninjutsu.
It is said that the Sage of the Six Paths was the first to explain the mysteries of chakra, travelling throughout the world to spread his ideas and religion, the Ninshū (忍宗; Literally meaning "Shinobi Sect"). The teachings were meant to give people a better understanding of themselves, as well as others, and lead the world into an era of peace. However, as time wore on, ninshū would eventually come to be known as ninjutsu, a more weaponised version of the Sage's teachings.
It can be used in collaboration with taijutsu to create nintaijutsu techniques.”
After reading the very small amount of information from the book, Suzaku sighed, wishing to learn more. Curious, he yet again left his office in search of more knowledge. He had to know all about ninjutsu by the end of this day, that was his goal!
After almost ten minutes of walking, Suzaku approached the library. There, he searched and searched and searched for hours until he finally found the right book. It was labeled ‘A list of known Suiton techniques’. Checking the book out, Suzaku once again went back to his office, going to the training grounds to begin training. He started out with a basic Suiton technique, the hiding in mist technique. Gathering his chakra, Suzaku focused on his surroundings and trying to send his chakra flowing outwards. After a few minutes of trial and error, Suzaku was finally able to succeed and create a thick layer of mist by forming his chakra into tiny water molecules. After confusing his guards a bit, Suzaku was able to dismiss the mist and move on to a different technique, one he had been interested in and had already begun learning about before he began his quest for knowledge. The water basin technique, which had been used to create multiple waterfalls and barriers around the world. Reading about the technique in the book, Suzaku pondered on how he would perform this technique…… When suddenly, it hit him. He got one of his guards to rise the ground he was sitting on into a large hill that let Suzaku overlook the village. After doing this, Suzaku kept reading on the technique, trying to wrap his mind around how it functioned. After a few minutes, Suzaku felt it was time to begin utilizing the technique. Standing up, Suzaku remembered what to do as he performs a quick set of hand seals, focusing his chakra into his hands and firing it into the ground, creating a hole and then a large gap in the hill with a large waterfall running down it. Suzaku thought for a moment, maybe he could make it stronger…. Adding a bit more chakra into the waterfall, Suzaku watched as it grew in size and power, creating even a larger hole, large enough for him to jump in and still have extra room to walk around. After a few minutes of horsing around with the technique, Suzaku stopped transmitting chakra into it and hopped down off the top of the hill, landing in front of the entrance to the Mizukage’s chambers. It had been a….. interesting day. But Suzaku knew it wasn’t over, even if the sun was just about set he set off to the academy to test out his new abilities. Seeing a teacher still there, he asked them if they would like to have a fun little spar. The teacher, a young man, gladly accepted and led the way outside to the training field. They both got into a training stance as Suzaku created a thick mist that enveloped the area, soon blocking off their sight and making it so they couldn’t see anything in front of them, not even their hands. Closing his eyes, Suzaku listened for any nearby sounds, activating his bijuu cloak again in the process. Suddenly, the sound of a kunai comes flying towards Suzaku, letting him avoid it just in time as he performs the water basin technique, sending a large wave of water in a circle around him. Suzaku then hears a thud as the teacher smashes against the nearby tree, giving Suzaku an advantage as he launches his chakra arm at the instructor, pinning him there as the mist is dismissed. Suzaku had finally done it, he had finally been able to actually use elemental ninjutsu with ease! Suzaku deactivated his bijuu cloak quickly though and helped the teacher up, walking him home so he could rest and heal a bit. He had been smashed against that tree pretty hard….. After walking the teacher home, Suzaku apologized and head out back to his office, where he had a quick dinner and went straight to sleep, excited for the next day.
Right after getting up, Suzaku finished a few of that day’s papers and set off to the academy once more. He once again sat in the same classroom, watching to see if the students had improved from their little lesson yesterday. After about thirty minutes, Suzaku brought them back out to the training field where he selected two kids that would fight him. He said a few words before beginning:
“In this battle, you are going to have to learn to work together and utilize teamwork to be able to take me out. While you’re blinded, of course.”
Suzaku then performed a single hand seal as a thick mist forms around the field, once again preventing any sight. Suddenly, Suzaku hears footsteps approaching. Hearing this, he sends a giant wave shooting at the two students, sending them flying backwards as he activated his bijuu cloak, also pinning them to the wooden wall that surrounded the field and back of the academy. Suddenly, he feels two logs instead of two humans. Listening for movements, Suzaku feels a kunai being pressed against his back and chest. They had actually done it…. Dismissing the mist, Suzaku smiled as he congratulated the two. Maybe the kids in this academy did have potential….. But first, Suzaku needed to fix up this academy’s system and how everything worked……..
