All in One Empty All in One

Wed Nov 14, 2012 12:27 pm
Spoiler:

There was a bird. And it was making mess on Rin's windowsill. It was almost midday and today Rin decided to stay home and tidy up. He was just done, when he noticed the bird and the mess. He quickly ran to it and picked it up. It was a messenger bird with an assignment. Rin took the message and threw the bird through the window. After looking how it flew away he opened the letter. The mission was sounded boring. He was ordered to do cleaning job. And after several hours of cleaning his room it sounded even worse than it would normally. Now he has to clean the whole village. Terrible.

Half an hour later Rin went to the specified location, where he met a few others with the same assignment and one chuunin, apparently in charge of the warehouse where they were supposed to be the equipment to do the cleaning. With a smirk the chuunin let them in and showed them where the everything they needed was. Then they were told where to clean. Rin got a distant street with practically no people around. It was better than some others, but there were tons of junk in here and he needed to get it all to a specified spot. That's what he did first, carried all sorts of thing, from simple crates and packages to trash bags and even old weapons - probably left overs from old skirmishes that took place here. He knew he got such an assignment because he's just a genin, but this was clearly a waste of his skills. He'd be of much more use in intel gathering or even combat situation. But the system was designed in such a way that even the best and most talented people had to do trash jobs in order to prove themselves.

OOC: Repeating Cleaning.

After he was done with the cleaning job, he'd return home and finish with his room, as well as clean the mess on his windowsill. When he was about to get some sleep before tomorrow's training he got another assignment. Well, actually it was the same assignment but a different place and time to begin. "What is this... some sort of trash and garbage day or something?" he muttered getting a bit angry. He got a night job, to clean the streets while everyone's asleep. Well at least they're not cleaning the sewer system.

When it was time Rin got on the roof of his house and made his way through the roof tops to the place he was ordered to report to. It was another warehouse and the keeper was a chuunin. He was a skinny guy who obviously was too sleepy or too lazy, or both, to show them where all the stuff they need is. "Well... you know where to find everything, go on in and don't take too long..." he said while yawning to the genins who gathering here for the mission. After getting everything he needed Rin continued to where he was supposed to clean. It was very dark so they were given torches to see what they were cleaning. Rin's street wasn't all that bad, it was certainly not as bad as the street he cleaned during the day. But since it was dark and he was sleepy the job was as much as difficult. First he would carry whatever stuff was there that needed to be carried to the warehouse. Then he sweeped all the dirt and leaves in one place. Then he washed the walls that had some uncomprehensible paintings on them. Then he put all the dirt and trash into a bag and left it in a nearest drop point. And when he was done he would finally get some rest.

I'll assume you let me finish it... Will PM you when I'm done.
Repeating this 2 times:

It was still dark. Before the sunrise. Rin was walking out through the village gates. Today was a day in nature for him, he had a full day of patrolling to do. Thinking of how he'll survive in the forest all day without food and what he'd like to eat when back, he made past the guard and continued into the forest where he was supposed to meet his first patrol team. He was first to get there, other's probably simply overslept as it was very early. He waited leaning on a tree for a few more minutes till first of them appeared. He didn't notice how all the others appear, as he was dreaming of something very nice, something he could quite remember later. Anyway, when they all were there, they walked it a bit until they reached the spot where they were supposed to relieve the previous patrol team. Obviously the others were a bit angry for them being late, since they were patrolling almost all night and now wanted to sleep badly. It was normal and Rin didn't pay much attention, keeping in mind but not saying that he made it there on time. When the previous group left them, they checked all the main spots together as was in the protocol and then split up each to their own route. Rin's was mostly in the forest, sometimes coming into a small clearing and sometimes overlapping with another patrol's route. It was as always, nothing special here. Rin was too sleepy to have any serious thoughts and simply walked his route like a zombie. It got worse nearing the daybreak, but he managed it. Patrolling patrolling patrolling just like that for another few hours until they were relieved like the last group. Then Rin was allowed one hours rest before he resumed his patrol duty in another location.

311 words, First mission done.

Rin made his way to the next meeting place and sit at the bottom of a tree. He still had more than half an hours so he relaxed and pretty soon fell asleep. In his dream he was older, maybe 16 or even 18 years old. It was night, a clearing in the forest - this forest, and it was a fight, maybe a duel. He was fighting a young female about same age as he was in the dream. The girl had long hair of deep blue color, her clothes were dark as midnight and her eyes even darker, he knew it was something special about those eyes and tried to avoid them. She wielded two blades, the moonlight would reflect from them and they would make a humming sound, almost like they had their own voices and would sing a story of old, with wise kings and brave knights. The girl looked like a dark angel, ready to strike her opponent with a bloody rush showing no mercy, while at the same time she had this aura of pride and valor about her. They would stand there for a moment, then she smiled and dashed at him, her blades' voices suddenly starting anthem of glory. Rin slammed his hands and the very core of the world obeyed him. And then it all vanished as somebody woke the boy up. It was his team, ready for the patrol assignment. As before they relieved the previous group and after doing a regular sweep of the area the split up and went their separate routes. It was all the same, nothing ever happening. Even awake Rin would still hear the voices of her blades, as if they never stopped. He would make his rounds, but his mind was there, never for even one moment stopping to think about it. It was glorious.

And 311 more. Hope you don't mind I involved a dream.

All in One Empty Re: All in One

Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:32 am
Spoiler:

It was a sunny day. Uncommon but nice. Rin was in a joyful mood, he slept very good last night and did not have to wake up early for any missions. In fact he did not plan to have any missions today at all. He was just going to do shopping... Shopping, yeah. The equipment he had ordered in the blacksmith should have been done yesterday and he was now going to claim it to reinforce him arsenal. While making his way through the streets he saw various kinds of people, some kids laughing and running around, some shinobi performing their duties, some merchants working in their shops, just random civilians here to spend their ryo on something they need in their household or maybe something fancy, ther were beggars and homeless too, but today Rin did not notice them. He was in a good mood. Other shoppers would normally stop to look around if they saw something that caught their eye, but Rin knew where he needed to go and steady continued in that direction without concerning himself with cabbages. Did I mention laughing kids? Anyway, he reached workshop of the local smith, who made all of Rin's weapons. The old man was named Hiroshi and was actually Rin's dad. "Hi, dad. Are those kunai done yet?" The man was looking the other way and didn't respond in words. He swung his arm and two kunai came flying straight at Rin's eyes. Without any surprise the boy quickly grabbed them before they stuck into his face and laughed. "Lively as usual... Thanks" "You're welcome..." Hiroshi replied in a deep, a bit irritated voice. "Pity though, since you actually paid me for them, I could only throw 'em as fast as you could catch" Rin got the joke "Well then, as long as they do not fail me, dad, maybe one day you will be able to test if you can throw them as fast as I cannot actually catch..." His dad turned around with a smirk. His face was half covered in dirt from the smithy. "Yea... maybe one day after a thousand years you would surpass me..." Then they both friendly laughed until they noticed a messenger bird coming into the workshop. Hiroshi retrieved the letter and silently read it. "Looks like they finally found an interesting assignment for you..." He handed the letter to Rin. It was B ranked, he is going out of the village area. But before that he is going to be briefed in the central building. Rin looked at his dad with a smile and waved before leaving. "Thanks dad, I got to go..." "I know... goodluck"

Dashing through the roof tops Rin was making his way to the central building while avoiding the streets. In a matter of seconds he was already there, standing at the entrance. When he came in and stated his purpose he was pointed to the room where he would be briefed. Normally if it was a low ranked mission, like E or D they would skip this, sending all the needed info in the message. But it was B ranked and they would explain all details in person, rather than risk the message being intercepted, like it was going to happen. Basically the mission was a rescue type, the difference was that the targets were not people, but animals. Very rare animals who were caught by poachers. Before they continued Rin was asked if he was up to such a mission. "Yes, I accept." "You better be damn sure, it's very unlike for Genins to do missions above C rank alone" "Do not worry, I am ready" The client was an organization that would normally keep track of such animals. Obviously they wanted them free again, as well as unharmed, but they also wanted Rin not to treat the animals violently, and only use force to take them away if really necessary. The boy understood the request pretty well, it's not like he'd gonna beat them to come out anyway. He'd probably just grab them and carry outside. Then he was shown the pictures of the animals to know what exactly was he freeing. Some fitted into his plan, others did not. There was a pair of them who were actually at least twice as big as the boy himself. It was impossible he would simply carry them out. Then he was given the location where poachers kept them, as well as the locations some of the animals had to be returned to. Other's were fine in the wild as long as they're not caged or bound somehow. When they finished with the details the boy was given some herbs to help lure some of the animals out. Then, without any delay, he departed as he had all of his equipment with him.

Such an adventurous mission only reinforced Rin's already joyful mood. He was traveling away from the village, making his way through the trees, with a smile on his face. He decided to skip the silent approach and just jump in there, kick all asses and save the day. He drew his ninjato as he was getting near his destination. In his left hand he took two kunais. Just as he got into a clearing he immediately identified two of them and threw the kunais, taking both of them out at once. He rushed past the bodies noting to retrieve the weapons later. There was a cave and he went in there. On his way he found one more poacher carrying a box with something inside. Rin was too fast for him to respond in time and the ninjato pierced his heart. Rin caught the falling box and released a ermine-like creature as the body stood for a moment and then fell down. The boy continued on ready to kill any moment. He had mixed feelings about it, in a way he didn't like it, but he knew it was an effective way to send a message. The next man died when a kunai pierced his throat. It was a wide place, a bit dark and wet with torches on the walls to keep at least some light. There were two more people here and they were guarding an entrance to what seamed a mess hall - there were more people there. The guards got alerted, but Rin just formed a handseal and suddenly appeared next to them stabbing one of them in a leg, leaning forward and kicking his face up. Then as the guy fell down, the other one charged at the boy swinging a katana. Rin would avoid the sword, catch man's wrist, twist it with a sudden movement and stab him in lungs, then use the kunai as a step stone to climb him up, winding his legs around the man's neck and breaking it. When he was done with those two, he stood up and looked at the rest of the people in the hall. They were terrified and for a good reason - he could probably slaughter them all without breaking much of sweet. But he won't. That's what he was thinking as one of them, who he apparently missed when he got here, sneaked up on him and grabbed him. Suddenly Rin got furious, striking with his elbow at the man's torso breaking his ribs making him release his grip. Then Rin turned around and kicked the man in his legs forcing him to kneel. Then he began to run, stepping on the man's leg and climbing up then kicking his head up and making a back flip in the air. On his way down he executed the man by thrusting the ninjato through his face. It was bloody and it helped Rin calm down. "GET OUT OF HERE!!"

He let every one of them run away and take their dead and injured with them. Then Rin retrieved his kunais and began freeing animals one by one. He began with the smaller ones, those who didn't need a specific location. Most of them simply ran away as soon as released. Others stay for a while, looking around and only then leaving. Then he opened a big cage with a turtle like animal. It seamed quite friendly and Rin stroke its head, it was then that he noticed his hand and his clothes being covered in blood. While it didn't seam to make any difference to the turtle it shocked the boy as he remembered where the blood came from. Putting that aside Rin let out the big animals and led them to the specified spots one by one. Sometimes two in one trip. When he was done he left the area and headed back. But instead of returning to the village he came to his training spot where he washed his clothes of the blood. Then he returned home, but even so exhausted he wouldn't sleep. He would cry and continue to furiously punch the wall. Why didn't he stop? Why did he kill so many?

All in One Empty Re: All in One

Spoiler:

"I saw a rabbit, dad!" "Good for you..." Those were the words of a father and his son, as Rin walked past them in a street. He was returning home after buying some food in the market. Normally he'd let his mother do this kind of things, but today she was busy somewhere else, making him journey to the land of haggling and business. Anyway it was done and now he was glad it was all behind him. When he came back, he put the bag with everything he bought on the table and climbed up to the second floor, where his room was. There his found a messenger bird. He walked up to it and took the letter containing his assignment. B ranked... Second B ranked assignment in a row and the last one was his very first B ranked mission. He did it quite well, so maybe they thought he had what it takes for this kind of assignments. As before he was called to the central building for full briefing. Rin smiled. "I need to get stronger" and after quickly taking all of his equipment he left for the building without ever thinking about declining a mission again.

Once there, as before he was directed to a certain room with people waiting for him. They explained that the client noticed something in the sewers and since he works there, he got afraid of his own safety and asked the ninja to take care of whatever's down there. After agreeing to quite a small sum compared to the last mission, Rin was given all the details like where was the client working and what sections should he check out, where are all the entrances and possible escape routes. He was also given a pair of torches to light his way down there. When they were finished, Rin stood up, bowed to all of the higher ups and left for the specified entrance point. While it was probably more risky than it was worth, this assignment wasn't all that perfect, but Rin understood it needed to be done anyways, and it was not nice taxing a poor sewers worker.

When he got there, he found an old man waiting for him at the entrance. From his looks Rin quickly understood that this was the client. At first the man seamed surprised they sent a kid, but then he probably remembered how and for what shinobi are trained. He didn't say much, just gave Rin a scarf to cover his nose down there and wished him luck. When going down Rin noticed how gradually air starts to stink and the air becomes filled with something he hadn't seen before, probably because he never was in sewers - not the most pleasant place, you know. As he finally reached the floor there, he looked around - he was in a tunnel, there was a steady flow of stinky water and maybe two meters wide platform to walk on each side of the flow. The boy lit one of the torches and started walking, prepared to be ambushed at any moment. After a few turns he heard something. When it repeated he understood it was a howl, but not of a dog, or any other common animal. He continued in that direction taking out his ninjato. The howl was getting louder. Rin was thinking how he would deal with this. The most simple approach would be with a kunai and one exploding tag. But he probably needed to keep damage to the place to a minimum, or else the whole village might come down on him. Finally as he turned around a corner he saw the beast. It was probably some reptile animal when it got here, but now it was just an abomination. The thing noticed him and aggressively charged. It was as big as the kid and not as tall. Rin quickly formed a one hand seal and appeared on the monster's back, slicing it repeatedly. As the thing tried to shake him down, the boy jumped down and when it turned to him he attacked again. With a quick movement he slit its throat. The thing stopped and made a strange sound. After a moment it fell to the flow and floated away.

When he came out of that hole he could take a deep breath of fresh air again. It was so open outside. After being in that hole he got different look at what he had outside. Here he saw the same old man still waiting for him. From the look of boy's eyes the man understood what happened. He was obviously relieved that the treat was eliminated. But death was on Rin's hands and he didn't like it. After returning the scarf he faked a smile and returned home to take a shower. A day later the same old man came to him and showed him the reptile's claw. Apparently he wanted the kid to have it, as he considered it a trophy, but Rin declined "It's no rabbit's foot. You can keep it..."

Spoiler:

Rin was bored. He spent training whole last day and didn't want to do that today too. But he didn't want to help around the house either. He needed something more interesting to do. "Maybe they have some fun missions for me there..." he thought while laying on the floor next to his bed. Maybe. Anyway, getting out of here will be good for him. He felt like a cage beast. After getting his equipment he got out through the window and climbed on to the roof. Then he continued to run on the roof tops and climb higher and higher to get a good look at the village. He finally reached one of biggest buildings in the village. At the top of it he could see most of the village and its territories. There were smaller buildings down there and he saw people moving in the streets. It was lively, as usual - noise, dirt and rabble. But was not going to dive in there. He was looking for one building. It was big and blue, with Water kanji on it. It was in the center of the village. Rin jumped down and proceeded in that direction avoiding the streets. When he finally got there, he entered and found the mission board. Here he could check the missions that can be taken on your own, without getting an assignment. There were no fun mission posted here and Rin decided to leave and maybe ... maybe do something to help around the house. As he was leaving a Chuunin ran up to him. "Hello, I was tasked to send you this, but then I saw you here.... so there you go" he handed the boy a letter containing an assignment. It was C ranked - he would assist in repairing one of village gates. The Chuunin walked away leaving the boy crushed. He hoped for an interesting and fun work, not repairs...

Rin made it to the gates. Apparently he was on a mission to save some animals when this happened. It was a skirmish, as a missing ninja tried to gain entry to the village. He was stopped and no villagers or guards died, but the gates suffered a good hit. The missing ninja was from hidden leaf. Not too strong, but apparently seeking revenge of hidden mist for killing his family in the great ninja war. Rin could not understand such people and he knew why - he did not have their experience, he did not know their pain. But he knew such actions would only lead to death and that it is what awaits all missing ninjas in time. Here at the gates he found people already working. There were civilian workers as well as shinobi. From the looks of it the gates took a hit from sword attack and lightning blast. The mechanism used to open and close them was damaged and jammed. It needed to be replaced. Rin joined the repair works. The other's had already began detaching the gate from the mechanism, so when they start to replace it the gate doesn't fall apart. Of course as it is, it would fall apart too, so for that reason the gates were hold in place by another mechanism and a handful of people. Other people, including Rin, at that time were replacing the control mechanism. It was mostly made of wood and steel. The wooden parts gave the shape while steel part did most of the function. At first they needed to take the broken system apart. Rin carried various wooden and steel planks and shanks, and brought them to the nearest warehouse. There he would put them where instructed and update the warehouse logs. Later during a break Rin noticed some of their food gone. He reported it to his superior in this mission. The man said there was a food thief loose. But they would not go after him as their mission is to repair the gate. And it is more vital than some lowly thief, if this gate was attacked again it could break and the enemy would enter the village and kill the civilians. And the food, well they can report it when they're done here. Rin agreed, but he noted that his skills would be put in better use if he went after the thief, saving some trouble and expenses to everyone else, while leaving the repairs to those who could do it better than him.

Anyway, he did not do that and once the break was over they all got back to repairing the gates. When they took the current mechanism apart and removed it from the gates they started to work on the new one. Rin noticed that the mechanism was so big and he asked the other workers why do their replace it instead of repairing it. The men said that if there was a steel rod or some other replaceable part broken, they yes they would just repair it, but in this case it was the control box, which is the essential part of the mechanism and it was just much more simple to replace it with a new one instead of opening the old one here and trying to repair that. Better leave such work to people who specialize in such mechanisms. When most of the mechanism was in place they tested it by opening and closing the gates. It worked fine and they began the final works. The whole repairs took about seven hours. When it was all finished Rin was tasked to report the job done together with stolen food list to the central building.

When the boy got there and reported it, he saw the mission to track the food thief on the mission board. For a moment he hesitated, but then decided to take it. The mission was simple. People having food stolen from them - various types of people: shop keepers, workers, random citizen, even shinobi. The objective was to locate and report where the thief is without being detected to prevent the thief from running away. Rin returned to the repaired gates and asked the workers what they know about the food thief. They said they knew not much, but people say it's a kid, a drop out from the ninja academy. The kid has no parents and normally he would be taken in by an orphanage or even adopted, but the problem is that they can not find him. At the end they mentioned that it's all just a gossip and nothing is for sure. Rin thanked them and walked to the market district. Maybe he'd find some clues there. The boy asked some shop keepers. Most of them claimed to know nothing, but some admitted to have some food stolen from them and said mostly the same things about the thief as the workers at the gate. Rin continued to look around as he saw a small figure running around a corner carrying some ham from nearby meat shop. He followed it, but when he got to the backstreet he met a dead end. Confused for just one moment Rin realized that the kid used Shunshin technique and it'd also be why nobody could find and take him to the orphanage. He put his right hand up and formed a hand seal, and then followed the kid.

The kid was making his way through one of the smaller streets. It was empty and nobody saw him, except Rin, who looked at him from above, while sitting on a roof. He solved the food thief's mystery, but he still had some quite intriguing questions. How would someone who was dropped out of the academy know Body Flicker technique? Well Rin can ask him when they catch him. The guards were already alerted. And Rin even called some additional shinobi in case the kid tried to use Body Flicker to get away again. The unsuspecting boy continued to run in a street and his shadowy follower continued to chase him undetected. Soon both of them stopped as the thief reached his hideout. It was a small abandoned shack. Nobody would even check here unless they decided to raze the house. Rin waited on the roof until the guards caught up to him. And when the house was under siege Rin together with other shinobi descended on it finding the unprepared food thief inside. Maybe that's why he didn't finish the academy.

Spoiler:

Circus! Tonight Rin was going to a circus with his dad. He couldn't stand still, it will be his first time in circus! He did not know what to expect, apart from trained animals. All he knew is that it should be fun. Rin planned to train the whole day and use his good mood. He took his equipment and waltzed to the first floor of his house. There he found his mother, wished her good day and left for training grounds. While walking through the forest, a bird flew to him. It carried a message and Rin sighed, he already knew what the message was. It was an assignment. No training for him today it seams. The assignment was C ranked. It seamed quite simple, maybe he'll finish it in time to see the circus, maybe even some time to train. Rin turned around and walked back to the village while reading the assignment. "Animal fights, huh? That's cruel..." he did not even like the sound of it. It appears his objective was to locate the arena where the poor creature are made to fight, investigate it and report back, preferred without being caught, which was always a good idea. Rin decided to ask some questions in the market district, it's where the most of money flows apart from villages central building and it's also where most of people happen to pass through during the day. The boy asked some people here some there, but mostly everyone either said they do not know anything about it at all, or just said it's terrible, but they cannot help him. Finally some man selling animal food, said he overheard his neighbors speaking about the animal arena and that it sounded like they have been there. He explained the boy where these neighbors live and Rin proceeded there. On his way, he noticed that there were hardly any people around and soon he realized the location was probably a trap. When he got there, he approached cautiously, prepared to defend himself at any moment. The house was empty, as expected. And it really was a trap. Those people probably tried to capture him, as they did not make any lethal strikes, only attempted to grab him or knock him out. There were like five of them, all grown men, had evil smiles on their faces as they assumed he was not expecting this. Most of them were unarmed, others had clubs, one of them actually had a kunai, but from his actions Rin understood it was his last resort. They came jumped at him quite suddenly, three at once as others remained a bit farther away. Rin quickly punched one into face, but then got overwhelmed leaving one way out. As they already thought they captured him, his body suddenly poofed into some wooden wreckage. While they were confused, Rin appeared behind the first three and went for the others. His first swing with the ninjato was aimed at man's leg. As the guy fell down Rin jumped on to the next, kicking him into face and knocking out. The first three were coming towards him by then and Rin quickly threw two kunais to stop them without killing them. The last one remaining decided to make a run for it, but the boy could not afford any one escaping as they could alert the others and they'd shut down the arena before he could get there. He tackled the man, knocking him on the ground. "Where is it? Where is the arena? Tell me!" Rin asked while holding the guy by his collar. He didn't say at first. "WHERE IS IT?! By now you know I'm a ninja and I swear to god I have no problem with killing all five of you... Tell me!" After a few more threats the guy gave in, telling him the location and the main people behind it all. Rin retrieved his weapons, luckily he didn't kill anyone, then he tied all of them together and left. Before he went to the arena he sent a message to the central building explaining his situation, the location of the arena and where these tied idiots were. After that nothing much happened. Rin found the arena and the people, confirming what he beat up guy said. Then he just waited for the guards to swarm the place.

These are all approved, but you need to put these in a separate topic for each mission, and please dont combo missions together in the same post, let alone the same topic.

Dont be surprised if someone makes you separate these out before approving your rank.
