A Set

Rin opened his eyes and immediately sat up in his bed. It was a morning, a bit wet and foggy outside - a standard weather here in Hidden Mist village. Today Rin had planned to head to the central building and ask for a mission, it was some that since he last had any assignment and although he used that time for training very effectively he knew there were but a handful of missions that were standing between him and Chuunin rank. With the recent spar, when he got to fight against, as he learned later, one of the strongest people here in Hidden Mist - Xyxer, he understood very well the need to gain more power. But training alone won't get him there, he needed new resources, more knowledge and Chuunin rank would provide those. One of the things he was really interested in was Fuuinjutsu - sealing arts. For him they sounded like something ancient and very intriguing. The boy got out of his bed and dressed up, getting everything he could need in a mission. A though crossed him mind while at it - he needed more friends, a lone solder cannot accomplish as much as a group and once he gets to Chuunin, maybe he'll get to wider waters.

It took a bit less than 10 minutes to get to where Rin needed. He liked to avoid the rabble and move through the village spotted as little as possible. Finally the boy was here, standing in front of the central building. Of course here he was being spotted, as there were many people entering and leaving the building, as well as there was probably the biggest square in the village in front of this building. He entered the building and got to the mission request board, where missions that did not need a quick response were being posted. Here he could take one that he felt like doing. As he was reading through them a Chuunin came by. He already knew the boy, as he saw him here many times. The man stopped and asked "Hey there, looking for a suitable mission again?" Rin looked at the man, smiled after recognizing him and replied. "Yes... as always. Apparently they don't assign missions to me anymore and let me choose myself how I'd like to advance to Chuunin rank..." The man smiled in response and then looked at a note he was holding. "Yeah, well. I have something here... I was supposed to select a suitable individual or a genin group for the job and deliver the assignment to them. It's an A ranked intel gathering mission to find a missing man from the edge of the village... Wanna take it?" The boy's eyes widened and he looked at the Chuunin. "A ranked?" "Yes. Well I was told to find somebody oh Chuunin or Genin rank, as higher ranked people are busy... Not many genins would be capable of doing this and since you're almost Chuunin... How about it? Want to end your Geninship with something big?" For a moment there Rin was standing still and thinking about this. Then he decided. Hell, why not.

Now he was moving to the crime scene, if it could be called that way. It was a building in outskirts of the village, almost in the woods. From the information in the assignment Rin knew there was a farmer family living in the house - husband, wife and two daughters. There wasn't enough background information about them, but there was a mention that the wife was born in Hidden Mist village and that the man came from a nearby village. This man was the one missing, so one could easily connect it to his past. When the boy finally got there, he saw the house which apparently suffered a fire, but was not completely burned down. The remaining family was outside, as the indoors were probably not safe. There were also some guards and a Chuunin here. They were here to protect them and the Chuunin was doing damage assessment. Since this building was registered as part of the village, attack on it was being considered attack on the village itself and it received a proper response - there were patrol parties swarming the woods in the area and whole village perimeter was reinforced. Hopefully it was work of a small party incapable of high level attack on the village, but it could easily have been a preparation for a much bigger assault. Of course the key to know that was the missing farmer. Rin walked up, made a nod to the guards man approached the Chuunin. "What happened here?" The man looked at the boy. "Oh, you must be the lucky one who got to investigate this..." He then continued to talk while returning to his work, looking at the house and taking notes. "Well... from what I can say the house was not the target, it got hit by a low level fire style attack, probably unintentionally... " "So we are sure there were shinobi behind the attack?" "Pretty much... The family said they were masked and they were clearly looking for something. You better ask them yourself." "Right." The boy walked up to the family, they seamed a bit scared but clearly no longer shocked. He sat down nearby and smiled...

It was all clear now. The husband's family line had a heirloom passed down from generation to generation. It was something quite valuable and when apparently there was another brother who also desired the heirloom, he probably hired some missing ninja to get him his brother. But they took huge risk attacking a house so close to the Hidden Mist and now they're going to pay for it. Rin had already reported his findings. He even knew the location - house of the other brother, probably where the farmer was taken to get interrogated. Hopefully he won't have to endure it for long. Rin decided to join the group sent to stop the interrogation to see everything went smoothly.
