The wound didn't look deep, and would probably stop bleeding in a few minutes and if tended to with care.

With a quick look at the wound it would have seemed that it was nothing special, but if it were examined by a medic they would know that his anterior humeral circumflex had been ruptured and he started to lose blood more quickly as the time passed and soon he would have lost enough blood to finally die unless a medic were to come to his aid soon and very soon at that.
