There have been reports that multiple people have had their paintings stolen from their homes or shops.

It took all of Baenlin’s willpower to keep from losing his patience and lose his focus on the task at hand and simply throw the broom in his hands down. He had been staking out this street since dawn seven hours ago. He doubted that this particular street had ever been so clean. No matter his impatience though, he had to stay here. He had worked for over a week, spreading rumors, arranging people’s cooperation, and even paying some young artist to part with one of his more elaborate pieces for the day in order for this day to come. The shop keeper, Misiahu Driuma by name, had agreed to help Baenlin after the promise of a full weeks worth of work. It was highway robbery considering all that the shopkeeper had to do was bark about the recently arrived piece he had on exhibit, but Baenlin agreed to it to have this mission over and done with.
Baenlin watched as the shopkeep made up exuberant tales about the piece, about how it’s materials had been shipped from some ruins of an old civilization that had never actually existed to the artisan that was supposedly half a world away and how the artisan had spent a months worth of time crafting it under the light of the full moon, and so on and so forth. The kid he had bought the piece from was good, but Misiahu made it many times better with his flattering words. Still, who knew. In coming years the statue made actually be worth the fuss if the boy kept up his practice, Baenlin mused as he swept.
It was still some time more before anything happened worthy of note to Baenlin. Misiahu had started an auction for the piece. Baenlin thought it was clever, as that showed that the piece would be going very quickly and put pressure on the thief that he was hunting. The auction quickly gather speed, surprising Baenlin. He had little appreciation for the particular style that the statue showcased. Right as the auction seemed to be about to close, there were several popping noises and large clouds of smoke. Immediately Baenlin jumped down the nearest alleyway, threw down the hated broom and climbed the walls of the building he was next to. Just as he expected, he saw someone else running across the rooftops near to where the auction had been. They were moving fast and sure, obviously use to traveling by such methods. Baenlin followed quickly, easily gaining ground, but jumping down to the ground as he got close to his target to avoid detection. Who ever this was was more concerned about haste than stealth at this point and was making plenty of noise for Baenlin to follow, even from the ground. The chase ended when Baenlin heard the muffled flop of someone landing in an alley ahead. Baenlin came around the corner only to be faced with a young girl holding the statue. She looked like one of the many other street urchins he had seen in his time, only this one leveled a kunai at him as he came around the corner and he was forced to dodge it as it flew his way. Still, Baenlin did not miss a beat, and simply sped to her, grabbed her shoulder, and shocked her as hard as he could. She stood but an instant before collapsing. It took some time, but eventually he got her to wake and found out that she had been stealing art pieces to pay for food. Baenlin tried to find out who the buyer was, but she insisted she didn’t know anything about the person, no matter how Baenlin asked. As far as Baenlin saw, his mission was done, and he brought her in to the authorities.
