around the village to make sure the area is secure. If anyone who
doesn't seem to be an ally is seen, report it to higher ranking shinobi.
Tanran had been assigned to go on his first mission by a higher ranking village ninja, as he now could be as he was a Genin. He was to patrol the village so that Kumogakure no Sato remained secure, and report any wrongdoings to a higher up. He started his patrol at about nine post meridiem (9 P.M.). The barley visible sun was setting to the west, and the clouds appeared even thicker, forming somewhat of a fog in every direction. He was to patrol for a few hours, which would not be fun in this fog, but he was not one to complain, especially during military duties.
Tanran walked throughout the mountainous terrain of the village, struggling to see through the heavy fog. He passed through the park and through many alley ways. In one particular alley way, Tanran heard a noise, which caused him to pause. It seemed to be coming from behind him, from somewhat close proximity. As he turned he walked back from where he had came and rounded the corner. As he did, he witnessed various objects being flung from a dumpster. This grasped Tanran's curiosity, causing him to investigate. When he peered into the dumpster, a small boy of maybe eight years old was digging through the trash. It was not apparent what he was looking for so Tanran asked exactly that. The boy claimed he was looking for food, as he lived at an impoverished orphanage in the slums of Kumogakure no Sato. Tanran had not met someone from the poor parts of Kumogakure no Sato, nor did he know they even existed. He knew that other villages had less fortunate parts, but did not know his village suffered the same tragedy.
He did not believe this fit under something to report to a higher ranking shinobi, as this boy as both innocent and an ally, so he had to devise another course of action. With little thought, Tanran retrieved what little ryo he had in his pocket and handed it to the small boy, only after helping him out of the smelly dumpster. He told the boy to buy a hot meal and visit the Ninja Academy for instruction. After this he headed home and quickly went to bed. He had completed his first mission.
