Reika was looking forward to this mission most especially. She loved the mountains outside of Kumogakure with a passion; the air smelt particularly fresh and new and she always looked forward to the blithe wind’s gentle caress. Not to mention, the terrain was breathtaking. You would think living in a city like Kumo would prepare you for such sights and smells, but you would be wrong. It hit her all the same every time she ventured outside of the town’s gates. Sometimes, she would climb to a peak and could see the very edge of the Land of Bears off in the distance. She would smile; remembering some sort of adventure her and her family had had when they traveled into the Land of Bears. They had many interesting, and oftentimes rare, herbs there. On that thought, she began paying more attention to the path she walked and looked on either side to see what plants grew.
She noted two or three that could be of use to her, but seeing as she saw them growing nearly everywhere she didn’t harvest them. They could easily be reached if needed. But, she doubted that they would be needed. She was only here to gather lost supplies.
Soon, she reached the fork in the path that denoted where supplies had been spotted in the report she read. More intensely focused, her eyes scanned the immediate area for dropped packages or broken glass that might lead her to other materials. She noticed a few stray packs of assorted bandages that she dusted off and placed in her bag. Something glinting a little ways down the road caught her attention, which she approached and recognized as needles and syringes. It seemed the package they were carried in had been broken or ripped open and some of the needles had scattered on the ground. She sighed, knowing that the ones that had touched the ground were no longer sterile and so couldn’t be used, but she picked them all up anyway. The ones that were useless she placed in her bag separately so that she could distinguish them later.
At this point her bag was almost full, and she could no longer see any objects that looked as if they didn’t belong, so she turned for the village. Instead of running back, she walked at a brisk pace and looked on either side for any materials she may have missed on her distracted walk up. She returned to the village without incident, giving the supplies to one of the medical ninja who approached her. She explained the situation with the needles and bid him goodbye, smiling as she turned at the intrigued (if confused) look on the shinobi’s face. He was probably curious about how she knew of the importance of sterile needles, but she really wasn’t up for an explanation and the formality of a conversation. She’d rather just laugh it off and finally go borrow that book about the Chuunin exams.
