E-rank: Go Away, Birds! Empty E-rank: Go Away, Birds!

Mission Desc:

Bar decided to take a break from cleaning missions, and do some pest control in the training tower. This was a tricky one, as the mission scroll stated that you could not simply kill the birds and be done with it. Messenger birds were a valuable part of the communications network, and some people tamed crows as ninken. There was also the possible environmental impact. Simply setting up a cheap scarecrow would not do the job for some of the more clever birds. Bar also did not have the know-how or budget to set up an automatic ninja puppet to scare away the birds whenever it would sense bird chakra, if such a thing could even be done. Filling the tower with smoke was not even a consideration. After a bit of research, Bar found the answer: Most birds entered a dormant state if they were blindfolded or otherwise cut off from light. After that, it was a simple matter to grab a bunch of cloth scraps from the training tower for blindfolds and choose a night where there was no moon and overcast skies. Finding the birds and all their nests was even easier, to someone with the Byakugan. The bird chakra was evident even from the egg. Bar hated to think of how much time he would have wasted trying to find these birds with normal senses.

Working gently but quickly, Bar transferred the crows and nests closer to the Uchiha skyscrapers. The more brightly-colored and cute birds went to the park. The rest of the birds went to wherever Bar found a likely tree branch, sheltered overhang, or hollow in a protruding letter. Bar made liberal use of the Wall-Walking Technique in order to find enough homes for the birds, but the ryo was worth it. He kept telling himself that.

Bar was making great progress until he stumbled upon a pair of birds that were NOT dormant: owls. The bright blue of their chakra saved Bar from being startled, but that presented him with another problem: How to stun them. With no small trepidation, Bar had to use Plan B: the Gentle Fist. They were so small compared to him that even one strike was sufficient to hit several of their tenketsu. Toning down his chakra, Bar dashes forward and strikes one of the owls in the tenketsu in its head, then a quick dash to strike the other one while it struggled to fly away in the cramped quarters of the attic! A quick check, and Bar was relieved to find that he did not kill them. Bar moved them into the forest.

Finally, there was one thing left to do: make sure they never came back. Bar went about the training tower patching shingles in the roof, boarding up gaps and other holes, closing windows, and daubing bird repellent everywhere. Sweeping up potential nest material and food was probably overkill, but Bar believed in doing a complete job. Covered in feathers and dirt, Bar reconsidered doing another cleaning job. When he was re-locating birds there, it looked like someone had vandalized the park again.
