Kozata had figured out chakra, at least as far as a mere academy student was concerned. He wasn't worried that perhaps he had missed something; he would figure it all out on the go. So, he went to the library to read up on his own element. Fire. Katon. The power to heat, burn, and incinerate. Not what he would have preferred, but it was what he was stuck with. Being a ninja, he was expected to work with it, so work he did. Hmm... basic fire jutsu. Well, here was one. The "fire stream" was one that seemed simple enough to learn.
The next thing he knew, he was out at the training grounds, warming up for the day. Some pushups, perhaps, and some sit-ups. He needed to get his blood and chakra flowing, because, well you never knew with training. Improper chakra usage could... uh... well, Kozata didn't know. Well, it was certainly time to try. He finished stretching, his muscles creaking slightly from sleeping in too long. Ugh, what a true loser he was. Well, he could attempt to fix that over time, things changed. He remembered the book that he had read... what were the handseals again...
Oh, there was only one. A tiger seal, with only one hand. How easy... Kozata formed the handseal, the two fingers coming up in front of him. Now, to channel his chakra and concentrate on the form that he was to create. A cone.... a cone of flickering flame. This was to be his creation. The flame... its purpose was... what? What was he doing this for? Surely, not to kill people. That wasn't his way, and the jutsu was certainly not powerful enough for that. As he felt the chakra swelling up in him, he felt a hot sensation. Was this... the fire?
NO.
"Ahhh!" Kozata fell back, flames flaring forth from where he had been standing, then dieing out quickly. Had that been... a voice in his head? It was a deep, dark voice, coming from... within his mind? No... he was too young, he hadn't undergone any major stress... well, outside the death of his parents, but still! This was no good!
"Aggh, get out of my head, you stupid jerk!" But the voice spoke no more. The darkness there... it hadn't been just in his mind. Had it been... in his chakra too? Kozata blinked twice, then shrugged. Eh, he would just have to wing it. However... he would have to be more cautious.
He formed the tiger with one hand again, focusing his chakra and blocking out all distractions. Concentrate.... the chakra flows up... out... and.... release.
The cone of fire shot forth. Its length was a little taller than that of an average man, but that was to be expected with such a low ranking jutsu. Kozata had read that this had been at one point a jutsu to train more jutsu. Ugh, how weird and complicated. But, that was how life went, Kozata had no say over why jutsu were created in the first place. He dusted himself off, feeling a little acomplished. It wasn't often that he got to learn fancy jutsu... but this one wasn't fancy... it didn't matter. Kozata noted that he should stop having such weird conversations with himself. It might feed that deep voice!
But still... the fact that the being seemed to exist within his chakra as well... that made him nervous. Kozata shook these thoughts from his mind and tried again. This time, the jutsu was more smooth, more casual. Soon... it would become second nature.
