So, for the past few days, Kozata had tried ninjutsu and taijutsu. He had sweated and grunted (not sexually) over these, and had paid the price of time and energy to learn two low-rank jutsu that probably wouldn't have any use later on in life. From this, he had learned one thing, other than the techniques themselves: that he was a useless ninja. He was no good at ninjutsu, and almost as useless at taijutsu. If he couldn't do any of the ninja arts, what use was he to the village of shima at all? Truly, he was an enormous loser.
Well, what else was there to do? Kozata meandered hopelessly to the library once again. What else could there be? He was stupid, simple as that. However... he spotted an old ratty book in a corner bookcase. A book on... fuuinjutsu? What was that, anyway? He hadn't been taught anything about it in the academy... so what exactly was it? He opened the book, and began to read its contents. The book's pages were old and worn, as if it was a really ancient book. Looking at the copyright on the front, however, Kozata could tell that it was actually not that old. Maybe a couple of decades?
The book was very informative, and Kozata's eyes widened. Fuuinjutsu was... sealing? Using chakra to create marks that had special effects... could this be what he was looking for? It required more focus and skill and other things did, and maybe... just maybe...
YES. WITH THIS, YOU WILL DESTROY AND CREATE.
That voice again... but with a positive message! Kozata completely ignored the part about "destroying and creating", only paying attention to the "yes". The book told of an easy seal to learn... a "mark seal". Well, he could try learning that.
He went out, and found a stray cat in an alleyway. Bending down, he would put his hand on it, and fire his chakra through. The cat meowed and purred, stretching out. Kozata didn't notice any difference... Damn. Was he useless at this too? He got up, preparing to return home, but...
AGAIN.
The voice commanded him... to repeat what he had just done? That didn't make any sense... any dolt knew that to repeat a useless action accomplished nothing. Suddenly... he felt the darkness surging through his chakra system again. Damn, why did this keep happening? Maybe he should...
He bent down, and placed his finger on the cat again. The animal stood still, eyes widening in... awe? Fear? Kozata didn't care. This was the beginning, he thought, as he pulsed and controlled his chakra, forming a mark of chakra on the cat. He could... sense it, just collecting there and existing. So, this was the... "mark seal". It seemed useless enough, but Kozata knew better. It was the beginning, like removing a keystone to cause a building to collapse. He had unlocked his own potential, and now all he had to do was make the most of his situation.
However, Kozata was still a loser. He repeatedly poked the cat, placing several more mark seals on it. Ha! How silly. Well, the time for immaturity was over, he thought, as he stood, allowing the cat to run away. What an ugly animal, Kozata thought, as he felt the marks fade away into the distance. He walked back home, a solemn look on his face. The voice didn't say anything else, which was just as well. He didn't want any more intrusions today, he thought, as he walked into his room, and sat down tiredly on his bed.
