Den goes Super Saiyan (Private)
Sun Mar 08, 2015 6:06 pm
Den sat upon the mountaintop, clad only in a t shirt and shorts. The young man was freezing, but Shou wanted him to ignore the pain and discomfort caused by the freezing conditions, and instead focus on trying to access the energy that was all around him. Den’s training in the sage arts had been far from typical, as he had come to his mentor with the ability to gather nature energy without even doing it consciously, and was at no risk of turning into a statue. The problem was Den didn’t know how to control his intake of nature energy, or at least that had been his problem when he had first arrived at the island to receive his training.
Now he was starting to notice the energy around him, feel it enter his body and revitalize him, his body transforming the nature energy into chakra, and using it to influence his cells. His body was more changed than he thought, sage energy had influenced his cells and mutated his innards. His cells seemed to be able to replicate perfectly, and faster than any that he had ever studied before. His appendix had become a functioning organ, a second source of chakra to his body, and it processed the flesh he could absorb with his new technique and made the chakra his own. There were many other changes, but his organs still performed their basic functions, somehow Den’s body was mutating but thus far there seemed to be no ill effects.
He spent a time lost in his new ability to feel nature energy, and its influence on his body. It was not what he was supposed to be learning, Shou had wished for him to just feel the energy around him, not in him. But Den was a scientist and medical nin at heart, and was so fascinated by his changes. Somehow, Shou seemed to notice, and Den heard the grunt of dissatisfaction echo throughout the mountain. Shifting his focus again outwards, den focused on the chilling wind around him. Den didn’t have access to wind chakra, but he could feel the air around him as it buffeted the mountainside. His awareness spanned outwards, he could feel Shou and Yuudai flying above him, both flying their own relaxed circle, neither of them harmed at all by the cold. Den’s body was still freezing cold, but no real damage had been done to his body yet by it. He hoped that Shou planned on letting him put on warmer clothes before something like that happened.
Den started to be able to feel the nature energy within Shou, his body did not naturally gather it and yet he seemed able to absorb it while also empowering his body with it, in fact with was nature energy that allowed him to fly. Yuudai was actually made of nature energy and chakra, he was like a bijuu in that he was formed entirely of energy, and he felt that most of that energy was locked away to avoid Yuudai burning all of that energy out. This was beyond his normal schakra senses, it was amazing!
He felt Shou move down towards him, but it was his words that brought Den back into his body, made him aware of what his other senses were feeling. And he had become incredibly cold.
“You should warm yourself, before you get frostbite.” The dragon’s voice boomed, even though he was offering simple advice. Den’s clothes shifted, the Manipulated fabric taking the form of a Jounin’s gear, while Den’s skin grew darker and harder, taking on the first level of his sage transformation to better retain heat in his body.
“You are learning boy, soon you will be able to not only feel nature energy, but properly manipulate it to obtain a true sage mode.” Shou seemed pleased that Den was actually progressing now, at first there seemed to be some worry that Den would be unable to obtain Sage mode due to his mutations, but he was starting to work around that, and perhaps by mastering sage mode he could further enhance his mutations as well seeing as they were caused by nature energy. Perhaps he could truly become strong, finally, and he could face and defeat his foes.
Yuudai flew to the ground and sat next to Den, using his wing to shield the young shinobi from the wind. Den sat against the dragons side as he wondered what he would do once he obtained this new power, should he try and find which of his allies would still give him their aid then attack the villages that he knew were involved in Minorin’s death? Kumogakure seemed like an odd place, but other than reports of the kage harming a few shinobi here and there it didn’t seem like a place that deserved to be entirely destroyed. So he had to have Tomoya remain there and continue to search for who was involved with his friends death, while he turned his focus on Funkagakure, the volcano village. There had been little news of the village recently, but before there had been tales of bodies laying on the streets, a place of scum and villainy that seemed to have no redeeming qualities. Denkiteki could attack that village and would be doing the world a service, while hopefully also finding Minorin’s killers, or those in Funka who were involved in her demise at least. Yes, he would gather what allies he could and would attack Funkagakure once he finished his training here, and they would slay any who opposed them and find who had harmed the girl Den had thought of as a sister.
And what would he do after that? He didn’t know, he didn’t want to think of the after. He had lost his home, Kiri, and was an outcast from Tengakure now. Not wanting to dwell on such thoughts Den decided to focus on the nature energy around him again, ignoring that problem for now and instead focusing on the more immediate one, he wasn’t skilled enough at manipulating nature energy to enter a true sage mode.
Den tried to focus on his nature energy intake this time, controlling how much he absorbed. He had grown better at it since his arrival at the snake island, before he had just absorbed nature energy constantly and had no awareness of it, let alone control. Now he was able to completely stop absorbing energy when he wished, and had decent control over how much he absorbed at a time as well. Shou was still explaining to him how to activate Sage mode, that it required a more fined tuned application of nature energy then Sage transformation did. Shou explained that in most cases the more animal like the transformation, the less control over the form the sage actually has. A true sage could undertake a transformation that made only a slight change, such as a change in eyes shape and color, or some sort of markings. Sage Transformation was like a completely uncontrolled Sage Mode, it was similar in function and in some cases had more versatile applications, but it wasn’t as efficient or as potent as when one mastered the use of nature energy.
Shou had not yet instructed Den on how to enter Sage Mode, he had said earlier that he wouldn’t until Den was ready. But seeing as it was like Sage Transformation, Den tried shifting the amount of nature energy he was using on his Sage Transformation. His skin began to shift, become more like scales, gleaming white. It was reminiscent of his snake transformations from when he was younger, when the snake sages had first infused him with nature chakra. He felt two of his teeth shift into fangs, his finger and toenails disappeared. He found himself continuing to shift form however and altered the flow of nature energy again. He focused too much into his arm, and pain shot through his body as his arm transformed into some strange large appendage, spikes sticking out of it. Den grunted in pain, and Yuudai shot to his feet and turned his head to check on his master, to find him looking like some strange half snake with a large, dark grey arm covered in spikes.
Den completely deactivated his transformation, his body shifting back to normal.
“That was unwise, boy.” Shou’s voice caused both Den and Yuudai to look up at the giant dragon, who was 50 meters above the two, “However, it does seem that you may be able to access the form sooner than I thought, when you first changed your transformation that was a form of Sage Mode. A much weaker version, much like the snake form we gave you years ago. You need to better control the energy, make sure that you are using only as much as you need. Use too much and the power is wasted, use too little and you won’t enter into Sage Mode.”
Den nodded, guessing that perhaps he used too much energy to transform last time. Focusing on his nature energy intake, he began to focus some of it into his body. At first nothing seemed to happen, so Den slowly increased the amount of energy he was putting into the rest of his body and his chakra network. Then he felt it, the energy started to flow within him, speeding up his chakra network, strengthening his body, sharpening his mind. His skin turned pale white and scales appeared around his face, his eyes turned yellow and changed to that of a snakes as well. He had overshot the correct combination of normal chakra and nature chakra it seemed, at least by a bit. He decreased the amount that he put into his body each second, and felt his body return more to normal, except he now realized that he had grown fangs when he had initially transformed, and that those along with his eyes stayed the same.
Still, despite that Den felt… incredible. He stood up, looking at his body, feeling it and the nature energy that coursed through eveyr fiber of his being it seemed.
“It seems… amazing. I did not truly think one your age could nearly master the sage arts, and in such a short time.” Shou seemed surprised, however Den had not been by his response. Age aside, Shou had made it clear that he hadn’t thought Den capable of Sage Mode upon his first meeting him, both of them had thought that his genetic modifications had made him unable to achieve true control over the nature energy he absorbed.
“I feel great, I..” he trailed off as the form ended, his eyes and teeth returned to normal, and Den realized there was no more nature energy fueling his body.”
Shou chuckled, “You will have to work on maintaining the form, but it seemed you have learned the Sage Arts. I will assist you in your coming battle boy, though I do suggest that you seek out those allies that you spoke of. Even with your new found power, you are not invincible. Do not forget that.” With that, he bowed his head down to Den, who returned with a bow of his own.
“I won’t forget it. Thank you, for everything.” Den smiled as he spoke, he felt hope for completing his goal once more.
But he was not going to leave toseek his allies just yet. Now that he had mastered the Sage arts to the point of being able to enter Sage Mode, he had another matter to deal with.
Gobi, I have allowed you to keep most of your power out of respect to you attempting to protect Minorin. But if you will not assist me in avenging her, I will have to take that power to ensure that I succeed.
Then come try and take it, foolish boy. You say you seek this power for some cause, but you are just a selfish and greedy child trying to grab as much power as you can.
Den sat back down on the mountaintop, informing Shou and Yuudai of his plan to fight the Gobi for its chakra. The two nodded, though Shou believed Den should have taken more time to train in Sage mode before fighting the beast. Assuring the snake sage he had beaten the beast once before, he closed his eyes and entered his inner realm, to fight the 5 tailed beast.
