Those who carry the will of fire [Passing downkage
Fri May 22, 2015 6:24 pm
The scene begins on the eve two great men of Konoha fell. Knelt before a man with light brown hair is a man with a porcelain mask, the likings of an eagle upon it. The man on this day isn't wearing the garb of the Hokage, he is dressed for battle, but not like how one would expect. The sun is setting through the window, casting an amber glow within the office of the Hokage. "The death of the right man is all that's necessary, Captain Eagle."
With that, the man is gone in a crimson flash, the operative left kneeling before the scene shifts. It's the next day, the seal placed upon the ANBU Captain by the late Hokage vanishing, he was given certain directives based upon the situation. Viper Uchiha was not to take up the mantle of Hokage, and if he were to try, his assassination was to be carried out swiftly. It was an S-Rank mission. If everything went according to Navi's Gambit then Eagle was to take up the mantle of Hokage, until he found one suitable to replace him, one that possessed the will of fire like their predecessors. During that time he would take his place as one of the elders, guiding the new generation, and helping grow the village, like he always has.
The Gambit worked, Viper Uchiha remained out of the village, his chakra signature was felt very rarely as he visited his children, during those times the ANBU were mobilized and ready, a perimeter made around his home, but aside from that he was not a factor. Eagle's mask was retired, he took up the name Brenner, a name from long ago, one that has long been erased from all records. His goal was village survival, funds were kept in order, paperwork was handled, and the regular examinations funded, along with missions for the village. It would be a lie to say the man was perfect at his job, the mantle of Hokage required a vast amount of experience, and the elders within the village aided with what they could, it was however still a bit bumpy. Due to this, he was not active around the village, he had Jounin attend to visitors, his office closed off. It was as if the village was run automatically, somewhat without life.
It is on this day Brenner decides it is best for him to evaluate the people, he will call those he sees fitting to his office, to see who, if any, have the will of fire within them. He sends a message out to everyone of Chuunin rank and higher, requesting their presence within the chambers of the Hokage. Their military might wasn't as large as it once was, Chuunin and Jounin were in few numbers, but they had the experience he needed for this task. He waits, sitting behind the desk, the hat of the Hokage sitting upon the desk before him, admittance granted to all who approach the door by the Jounin guards. His garb looks to be that of a Jounin, twin blades upon his back, raven black hair, and coal black eyes adorn his face.
[I may be retconning a few topics for those who wished to be with the Hokage, and for that I apologize. Any stats earned will remain, but the story will be following this path. Work ran me ragged and I intended to do this sooner. So those of you who wish for the mantle of Hokage, please make your post here so you can be evaluated IC.]

Kasai Senshi entered the Hokage's chambers, his red hair flayed behind him, the gold and red robes, the color of the sun, draped about him, and his mask, which had once been his face, hung around his neck, revealing the many burn marks which covered his real face. He bore them proud now, but kept the mask as a reminder of a time when he as ashamed of the damage done to his face; a reminder that he had grown.
He had received the message from the Hokage; the passing down of the title. It was a day to remember indeed. However, he was not here for himself to gain that title. Kasai knew too little of other elements, and his mindset was not correct for him to deem himself worthy of the title. His intense offensive focus in combat would change the village too drastically. No, Kasai was here to vouch for a friend; Tatsuya, who would arrive later the same day. He was not sure how many would show up, nor how many would want the position, but a large group of the shinobi of Konoha had already put Tatsuya's name forward in their opinion of who would make a good leader, and Kasai was there that day to hope to see that future come about.
Upon seeing the current Hokage, Kasai bowed deeply, showing his respect, for he did have respect. He would for the Hokage, regardless of who it was, because the title was not something simply gained, but earned; Kasai knew this.
He would honor the Hokage's decision, no matter whom it was, but that did not mean that Kasai had his own opinions, it only meant that he would respect the others. The Hokage's was the will of fire, after all, though the same passion burned within each true member of the leaf.
"You have summoned me, Hokage?" Kasai would say, having received summons, as well (he assumed) every other ninja of chuunin rank or higher.

Having received the summon Tatsuya arrives promptly, standing tall and confidence in his breath. Tatsuya had been looking at the position of Hokage for some time but was warry to take the position. It would be a hard job and one that could put the village and ones own well being at risk. However with the publics support and Kasai's, Tatsuya was sure that it was his duity to carry the position. Tatsuya had many things to say on why he wanted to become Hokage and this made him excited. But he makes sure to keep a calm center and not let the folleshness of an imuture taint his words.
Tatsuya walks into the champers and his eyes imeaditally rest onto the Hokage's face. Walking next to Kasai he bows deep to his leader and says.
"I have recived your summon with graduated."
Tatsuay stand up straight as his golden hair falls back into place. The light from a flickering candle shimmers across his green eyes and he waits for what his leader has to say.

Jason was aware of the situation the village was in. It was not as hectic as he had expected after the fall of the previous Hokage. Jason had made it his goal to become Hokage himself one day but he was not sure that he was ready for it. Jason knew that the job entailed much that the public did not see. Not only did the Hokage have to be strong enough to protect the village, but a good Hokage must also be kind, humble and be willing to accept help and advice from others who were more experienced than he in order to successfully run the village. In short, the Hokage needed the qualities of a leader. The qualities possessed in those that carried the Will of Fire.
Today, Jason had received a summons from the current Hokage. Apparently he was not the only one to be summoned, which Jason had of course expected. Jason had not been a Chuunin long but he had grown much and was one of the more powerful Chuunin currently in the village. Among those Jason held as his peers, some admittedly stronger than Jason, was Kasai and Tatsuya. Both of them had been friends with Jason and had completed a few missions together as a team. It was thanks to the efforts of Tatsuya and Kasai that Jason had even become a Chuunin in the first place. Now, as Jason would enter the chambers of the Hokage, he was glad to see them here as well. The mantle of Hokage was no trivial thing. No matter who the position was passed down to, Jason would accept them as the Hokage and show respect. Jason would enter the chambers and kneel besides his friends Kasai and Tatsuya before speaking.
"You have summoned me, Lord Hokage." would be Jason's only words as he waited to see who else would answer the summons.

With his hollow form Navi would stand in the corner of the room, his back turned to the office entrance and his eyes looking out of the open window down onto the village that he once lead. In the peaceful sky a black raven passes over the building, the Yamaki's eyes following the descent of the bird as it comes to circle back and eventually land upon the window's ledge.
His existence would be invisible to all but those who were destined to carry on the Will of Fire. Only those who would be willing to fight, kill and die for the Leaf would be able to see his spirit, and of those few it would only be one that would come to take up the burden of leadership over this village.
The Eagle knew of his presence, but he would not dare glance to the side and give this away. He would come to see which of these subordinates were worthy, and the angel of death would come to judge his decision.

shit. shit. shit. SHIT SHIT SHIT SHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT. Hisano rushed through the open strets of konoha, bee-lining for the leaders chambers, her cloak flapping all about behind her, held together only by one hand clasping tightly to the two metal bits meant to keep it in place. "Why did I have to choose bar-b-que over something fast. Damn it all!" Her body split the moment she could see the large doors, hundreds of sheets of paper rushing through the doorway, down long hallways, and into the hokage chambers to stop, each seeming to float in mid air in the center of the group. Of course she'd been summoned. She knew she'd need to be there at a certain time but the girl lived in a perpetual state of lateness.
Her body formed up quickly, a small ball of rolled paper raising upwards as sheet after sheet wrapped itself in place, forming her legs and up to her torso. Finally she would stand before the group with all but a few pieces fully formed, her features visible with hood off, blue hair shifting left and right as stray bits of her element snuck in to tie her long locks back as calm eyes turned to the interim leader. "What's up boss. Um. quite a crowd today. "

Brenner waits until the chosen arrive. Splendid ninja arrive before him, only one Jounin though but alas, those that arrived will be evaluated equally. He hopes that he will find the one who bears the will of fire on this day, but only time will tell. He dismissed informalities preformed by the canidates, or more particular the Jounin, and gets straight to buisness. "I'm sure you all know why I summoned you here? It was the late Hokage's orders that I find a leader for the village within the people who work, and fight for it every day. I have a question for all of you, why are you shinobi? What made you walk this path in life?"
[Your answers will be secret, please private message me all of your responces so you are not influenced by each other. Once that is done I'll c/p each responce in spoilers on my next reply so everyone can read.]

Brenner does not speak until all of them finish, each one sharing experiences, his hands laced with one another and resting upon the desk as he looks to each one as they speak. Their answers are somewhat similar, they want to do it to protect others, or to make others happy. A noble goal, but full of holes.
Brenner looks towards the Senju. "You became a shinobi because of your clan, you were born to the noble Senju clan, and wanted to make others happy. There is a flaw, your path was guided, and you walked not the path of the Leaf, but the path of the Senju, seeing the good they do, not the Leaf. Perhaps this has changed, but keep it in mind why you became a shinobi. I asked that you come here to take the spot of Hokage, for your words to say you'll accept someone else, shows me you are not certain with your own beliefs and idelogy, to lead this village.
His gaze now turns to Hisano. "You became a kunoichi to get stronger, you detested being weak, and wanted to prove yourself by getting more power. It is a selfish path. Even if your intentions are good, and you wish to teach others, you will always harbor the desire to prove yourself to others. That will lead to corruption, and influence by the actions of others. It is a very risky ideology."
He looks now upon Kasai. "It seems you can speak well on what the will of fire represents, but the true aspect of the will of fire lies deep within you. It cannot be described, it can only be displayed in your actions, not your words. You speak of light and darkness, it is a sterotipical view, good is better than evil. There is a flaw in that train of thought, the world is not so simple as light and dark, good and bad. Behind every shinobi is a living being, a person with dreams and ideals just like yourself. In the world of shinobi we fight everyday due to what we believe is right. Do not be so quick as to dismiss others as wrong. If you were to continue down this road of light superior than darkness then you would only reach the throne of a tyrant." His eyes close for a moment, the next words are ones Navi followed. "A leader must not be a tyrant, if you forced one to believe your ideals, and then left, it would only deteriorate back into madness before long. The only way to secure that such things do not happen is to control those who you believe is wrong, for aslong as they live. A tyrannical rule. Sometimes in this world, ruin must come before peace. Think on that.
His eyes now fall on Tatsuya, upon his words a very light smile is seen upon his lips. "It's good to see that one as young as you has recognized their path so early. Know your limits however, if you try to protect everything, you'll always lose something. Protect what means the most to you.
He now looks upon the group before him. "It is important to recognize that you may of became a shinobi due to influence by birthright, or by village ties, but it's the reason you're still a shinobi that's what's important. When you make a choice as a shinobi, it is important to be behind it. If you are tasked to assassinate a shinobi from a fellow country, you must believe full on in your heart it is for the good of the village. Regret builds doubt, doubt brings instability and hesitation in further missions. As the Hokage you have the weight of every descision upon you, it is important to know what it is you think is right, and want to do. Never should you shift the blame of your actions upon the village, or your clan. When you tied the headband of the leaf around your head, you accepted that you were a shinobi of the leaf, noone can make that choice for you. When you make a choice as the Hokage, you are the Will of Fire, your choice will be what shapes the world, the village and its shinobi will be behind your actions, so it's important to know who you are. His will be done."
He looks upon all of them, "Hisano you are dismissed, the rest of you stay for further evaluation."
- Jason:
Why was Jason a shinobi? What made him walk this path? Jason wasn't sure about the others, but Jason knew why he had become a ninja of Konoha. Ever since he could remember, Jason had watched his family and friends in the Senju clan grow and train. Jason would listen to their stories and see how happy they were. They would always talk about the village and how they would do anything to defend it. Jason had decided at an early age that he would surpass everyone in his clan. He would become the most powerful ninja in Konoha and protect the village that he loved. Jason wanted to make sure that, not only his family and friends, but everyone in the village was safe. Then Jason remembered meeting Tatsuya and Kasai for the first time. He remembered them talking about how they were kidnapped from the village and forced to work under the Demon. Jason vowed never to let that happen again. No matter what. If Jason had to give up his life to protect the village and those in it, then he was more than prepared to do so.
((At that moment, Jason could have sworn he saw the ghost of Navi, the previous Hokage, standing in a corner of the room. Jason tried not to pay attention to it. His loyalty and connection to the village ran deep and so he wouldn't have been surprised if it really was the spirit of Navi.)) <-- That part is void, you will not see Navi unless deemed to have the true embodyment of the will of fire, which is the point of the thread.
When it was Jason's turn to speak, he would do so with the utmost respect and conviction. "You ask me the reason I am a shinobi, the reason I walk this path in life. The answer is simple. I have watched my clan grow and train all my life. I have watched as some of them sacrificed their lives to protect the village. As I watched this happen, I could not have been more proud of my clan. From a very young age I decided that I would become the strongest ninja in Konoha. I would do everything in my power to protect the village just as my family and friends had. And if I had to die in order to protect my village? Then so be it. I would not hesitate to sacrifice myself for my friends and family. Since I consider the entire village my family, laying my life on the line to protect them is not something i would shirk from. No matter who becomes the Hokage, I will always have this in my heart. I will always be loyal to Konoha and do everything in my power to keep it and the villagers safe. That is why I am a Shinobi of Konoha. That is my reason for walking this path in life." Jason did not care what the others thought of Jason's answer. He was being completely honest. Even if someone else would become the next Hokage, Jason would continue to do everything in his power to protect the village. That was all that mattered.
I asked that you come here to take the spot of Hokage, for your words to say you'll accept someone else, shows me you are not certain with your own beliefs and idelogy, to lead this village.
- Hisano:
Her features shifted the moment the leader spoke, the clutzy rediculous girl proving her resolve as her jounin training finally began to surface. Her lips pursed together, words she knew too well threatening to spill like the sea from them before she was prepared but her eyes showed nothing aside from cold force of will. "Sir. My position as jounin under the late navi was a story of determination and torture. My life and the life of the one girl I trusted were considered forfeit in the academy because we found trouble performing simple ninjutsu, both for our own reasons. As such I fought day and feared in the night, allowing determination to prove those who kept my face in the dirt that I had the will of konoha. Today I stand battle trained with my ninja way forever in mind. Teach the weak to burn brighter then the privileged, and through strength and will ensure every ninja of konoha is a force to be reckoned with, to prove those who look down on the underdog wrong, and raise hearts of glass to sharpened steel for the glory of konoha." Her eyes lit up as she spoke, resonating the pain of her childhood, fear of her adolescence, and finally the new found strength she'd gained in her time teaching the new generation. There would be no perceived weakness in her village, as leader of as jounin.
- Kasai:
Kasai watched the others arrive, and then listened to the Hokage as he asked his question. Kasai would wait his turn before replying.
"One's Nindo is a rule that they, and they alone live by. However, it can be said that the Will of Fire is a universal Nindo for any whom live within this village, regardless of their own personal Nindo.
"The Will of Fire states that the entire village is like a large family and every Konoha shinobi with the Will of Fire loves, believes, cherishes, and fights to protect the village, as previous generations had done before them. It is said that this Will of Fire is what gives Konohagakure shinobi the strength to continue fighting against all odds, for those whom we care about, no matter the odds.
"However, we have hurt one another. We have hated one another. Day after day, ninja die at the hands of those whom they would call brother, if the world were a better place. The innocent fall victim to those with hate, and the onlookers then become filled with hate themselves.
The world then becomes a battlefield, with all the more hatred, and more beings filled with anger taking out the violence on those whom they believe deserve it, despite those victims being innocent in their own eyes. The cycle never ends, and the only outcome is a darkness to cloak the earth," Kasai said, looking at the Hokage, not talking quickly, but calmly.
"However, it is when you are neither the onlooker nor the attacker that makes you realize this. It is when you are the innocent that you know the truth: darkness cannot drive out darkness; only the light can do that. Only the Fire can.
"Being one of those innocents, and my face with the scars as the clear result, I have watched both the attacker and the onlookers become so consumed by this hatred that they have forgotten how to see. Their world has become void of any light, and for them, only darkness remains. It is through the light, through the Fire, that we can develop and maintain the capacity to forgive, for he whom is void of the power to forgive is void of the power to love anything, family, friends, or village alike.
"Hate, unlike love, is too great a burden to bear. The chain reaction of evil; hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars, must be broken, or else we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.
“This is why I have chosen this path for my life, because the greatest victory is that which requires no battle. Because I not only follow the Will of Fire, but live it, walk in it, and breath it as my very life force.
“A true shinobi chooses to serve their village and does it out of respect and love, not because they are forced. This is true for those who follow the Will of Fire, and it is true for me.
“I have chosen this path not because I had to. I was not pressured to have walked this road, nor forced by any, but have done all out of my free will. “It gives me strength to have somebody to fight for; I can never fight for myself, but, for others, I can die a thousand times over, and still have the Will to carry on. I belong to the people I care for, and they belong to me. They, and the love and loyalty I give them, form my identity far more than any word or group ever could. This group is the entire village, tied together by the Will of Fire. It is because of this that I have become a devout to Fire; not just the element, but the emotion and ideas behind it.
“However, as religiously as I follow the fire, it is even more so that I follow the Will which stands behind it.
“If by my life or death I can protect this village, I will,” Kasai said, looking directly into the Hokage’s eyes. “And it is for this reason that I am a shinobi of the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Because this is my people, and though I am not a leader, these are my people, and there is no greater way than to protect from the darkness than to become a shinobi of the Will of Fire. It is my Nindo.”
With that, Kasai ended his long speech. The fire of the village burning in his eyes, as it had since the day he accepted the burns that covered his body. His position on the issue remained the same, but the Hokage had asked a question, and Kasai had answered.
- Tatsuya:
It was in interesting question and one that Tatsuya had not thought much about but he knew what to say.
"It was only about a year ago where I finally knew and understood why I was a shinobi. Like any old day, I was out training with my two best friends Kasai and Makusu." Tatsuay was not sure if the Hokage knew what had happened so he thinks it best to explain some of what happened.
"Wile training we encountered a man who is now thought as the leader of the Akatsuki whitch I am sure you know about. He put a mark seal on us three as well five other leaf shinobi. After some time we all were taken or rather kidnaped and taken to moon country. Once there many unspeakable things happened" Tatsuay will admit to being traumatized by the event and it made it hard to talk about. "They tortured us and others were made to fight to the death..." Tatsuya looks at Kasai with watery eyes. "And unfortunitally only two of the eight that were stolen came back."
"I have always had a passion for helping people and this is what drove me to want to become a shinobi. But after that experience I really understood how much the world needed protecting as well how much I really cared about people. I have continued being a shinobi because in my sole I know that it is my duity to protect and fight for this village and all the other villages that call out. Before this event I did have a sense of protecting others but becoming a shinobi origanally spawned from wanting to re build my clan. After seeing the horrors of the world and frankly just growing up I let go of my selfish desires to only strive for personal happiness and found that it is more important to find happiness for the majoirty rather then a single person."
"I am a shinobi because I do love to learn new jutsu and create powerful skills but I also think that by being a ninja it allows me to protect anyone who needs it to the best of my ability."
It was short but it answers the question. Tastsuya would not be surprised if the others say something better as he was not the best with words but he had the drive, passion and experience to push his way to the top.
