The new Hokage takes his seat

Jason was panting hard, blood trickled down his forehead into his left eye which was closed. Jason's Bow of Nylea was held at the ready, his last arrow knocked. An explosion goes off behind Jason and smoke surrounds him.

Jason's vision blurred as he came back to the present. The memories of the intense training he endured to get to this point still fresh on his mind. The Hokage's office came into view as Nami mentally shook Jason out of his day dream. Jason's office. He still had trouble believing that he was now the Hokage. So much has happened since he had first become a ninja. The traditional hat worn by those given the title Jason was now honored with sat on the left side of the desk in front of him. Nami, Jason's friend and familiar was curled up on a cabinet near the door. A quiver was in front of Jason on his desk, the last of his arrows was still in Jason's hand. He had been marking each one with his newly mastered Flying Thunder God seal. 

It was the first day of officially being Hokage for Jason. The intense training Brennar had put him through ended only two days ago. He still had a lot to do. There were many ninja that he needed to check up on and there were situations in and outside of the village he needed to familiarize himself with. Jason took a deep breath and placed the last arrow inside the quiver and then moved the quiver to the floor behind him.

He didn't know what to make of today at all. He had heard just yesterday that someone had been made the new Hokage in Brennar's place (mostly because he slept in the forest occasionally) so he was prepared to go and see just who the person was. At the current moment he had been merely five meters from the office itself, yellow eyes looking left and right as he prepared for either the best or the worst. As he thought further into it...He had never checked back in with Brennar stating he was back in the village as things had "happened" since him coming back so now was as good as time as any. Within a few moments he was already walking into the Kage building his eyes looking to the secretary for a moment," Here to uh...See the Hokage," of course she was glad to help him, telling him that he was in the office. Walking up the stairs and through some hallways he arrived at the door taking a deep breath, knocking three times (because of prior experiences with this particular door) and walking in," Huh... I take it your the new Hokage everyone has been taking about? Nice to meet you i'm Hideyoshi...More or less came in to speak and also say that i've came back home after my little travels the previous Hokage allowed me to take to hone myself," stepping into the office and closing the door he stood just in case, never knowing if sitting was the right policy or not.

Naomi's ear perked up as she sensed a young man coming and mentally let Jason know he had a visitor. Jason would sit up straight and try to fix his messy hair a bit which never seemed to cooperate. There were three knocks on the door before a young boy stepped in. He seemed a bit cautious as he explained who he was and why he was there. His chakra levels were pretty high and he carried himself well for being a genin Jason wondered how long he had been a ninja. He also mentally slapped himself for not knowing who he was before now. 

"My name is Jason. Yes I'm the new Hokage." Jason would gesture at a chair in front of the desk at this point. "Please have a seat." Once Hideyoshi had sat down Jason would smile and speak again. "What can I do for you Hideyoshi?"

After being offered a seat he moved towards it lightly pulling it back before sitting down and looking around the office for a bit. The memories of his first time in these walls came flooding back as he ran a hand through his silverish hair," Its been a while since i've last been in this place...The first wasn't very good nor the second but...," hearing the males voice caused him to shake out of his trip down memory lane as he smiled," Like i previously mentioned I wanted to acquaint myself with the new Hokage as well as report that i've returned back to the village. I had left in search of finding myself along with finding out how the world was. Needless to say i've come back with a better understanding of how things are within myself so all went well," looking up slightly for a moment before nodding," I also wanted to see where I stood among obtaining a new position within the village," getting more to the point he rested his right arm onto his leg as he leaned against it.

An interesting way of describing the travels he had been on. The mention of seeking a higher level in the village put Jason on edge for a mere second though he did not show it. This was something he had been planning on addressing anyway so it couldn't hurt to start with Hideyoshi. Jason would pull out a stack of folders and quietly look through to find One with Hideyoshi's information on it. 

He had been a ninja for some time and had in fact been allowed to travel by the previous Hokage. A scenario ran through Jason's mind as to how he could test the ninja before him. For now, talking would do. It was best to gauge a person's reaction to simple conversation before making any judgements. The littlest things were the most important. One of his recent lessons. 

Closing the folder Jason would speak. "So tell me Hideyoshi. What did you find on your journey and what position do you think would best fit you now that you've returned?" They were simple enough questions but they way they were answered would determine everything. Mentally, Jason would ask Nami to keep tabs on Hideyoshi's thoughts without letting the genin know she was doing so. You could never be too careful. Jason would then cross his hands in front of him and wait for Hideyoshi's answer.

The question was simple. He could have answered it in a multitude of ways and yet there were three simple answers that came up in his mind. Taking a deep breath he would began to speak albeit a little slowly," There were three things I found out while i was in the world...Two of which deal with my own personal growth and the other...was more of a truth. The first was that in order to grow as a person you must quell the storms that come with life. My storms were accepting the loss of my grandfather, someone who had from the start pushed me and guided me to become a ninja that could be called a true Konoha shinobi. The other was accepting the deed i had done so long ago yet it was necessary. It might have been in my file, but it was because a friend...or rather a teammate of mine killed one of our own and tried to flee the village with help and i was the one to end his life. Those two things had always sat in the corners of my mind eating at me...But a person must know how to forgive oneself in order to grow," pausing for a moment he would allow himself to take a small breath and continue.

"The second deals with a personal power of mine that once had ...different ideals than me. For a time it was taxing to have another voice in my head and yet overtime we became accustomed to one another and now we are like one in the same. The third however...Was that one cannot hope for change when one isn't willing to do what it takes to make them. If the world was to go to war would one fight or hide in their home? Its choices that make one decide on what to do...A Kage once helped me see this ideal...But my travels confirmed it and allowed for me to see it in another light. In short, that was my journey... A bit of a philosophical route but I think I needed it in a sense," there was a light chuckle from him as he looked over to Nami and then back to Jason for a moment. The last question kind of threw him off a bit as he didn't want to be too modest or oversell himself short," As for what position? Well i didn't want to be arrogant and say something like Jounin due to my experiences in the village, but I think it would be befitting due to some of the accomplishments I have achieved through my time as a ninja. Though ultimately the decision lies within my leader," while he was ready to finally leave the throes of being a genin, he couldn't jump the broom...not yet.

Hideyoshi answered the question very well. Better than Jason had anticipated in fact. A plan formed in Jason's mind. The file in front of him along with the answer given and Nami's report on Hideyoshi's thoughts told Jason that he was definitely at least Chuunin material. Jason did not want to promote the Genin straight to Jounin without a show of his skills. Knowing there were other Genin and Chuunin in the village worthy of promotion Jason formulated a plan. In his mind, he would ask Nami 'Do you think it will work?' A small feeling of acceptance was all that he felt from the fox still curled up near the door. He had decided.

Now focusing back on Hideyoshi, fully aware of the second personality within him at this point thanks not only to Nami but because of the response given, Jason would begin to speak. "Very well. You've answered my questions better than I had anticipated. Thanks to that and what I have here in your file I am promoting you to Chuunin. This however, is only the beginning. I have a mission in mind for you and depending on how well you do I may still promote you to Jounin. There are other ninja in Konoha worthy of promotion and I'd like your cooperation in getting them there." It probably wasn't what Hideyoshi had expected when coming in to see the Hokage but Jason thought it was well deserved. Jason would wait for Hideyoshi's response patiently, still paying attention to the slightest movements.

For a moment he stared dumbfounded at the response of Jason, at first trying to figure out if he had heard him correctly or not. The path to Chuunin was finally his and yet like he said he still had a journey ahead of him. With a swift nod of his head he agreed to the terms only to smile," I'll accept. Every journey starts with a small step and i'll be taking this first one. As for the mission you were referring to when shall it take place? I only ask so that I am prepared for what is to come and also to make sure things are in order for myself," after his question was answered he would have stood up to shake the Hokage's hand and then walk out to take care of some things unless there was more for him to be told.

[Potential exit]

Hideyoshi would accept the terms and ask only when the mission were to take place so that he had time to prepare. Jason would smile at this point, glad that things had went so well in his favor. "The mission will take place some time in the next week so be prepared for my summons." With that Jason would stand up as Hideyoshi did the same and shake the newly appointed Chuunin's hand. Of course it wasn't a normal hand shake. Jason would place the tiniest seal upon the chuunin as their hands shook. It was a new habit he was forming that he placed FTG seals on everyone he had an opportunity to. The seal was so small it would merely look like some sort of mole or freckle if spotted by anyone other than a Fuinjutsu specialist. Not that Jason was worried Hideyoshi would detect it anyway. 

With that Jason would sit back down at his desk preparing for what was sure to be a long day of introductions and planning for what was to come as Hideyoshi left the office.
