Ren shook his head in surprise upon hearing her words, "Yuri, your a Chunin now, were the front line here. Our job is to try and make sure the village is safe." Ren paused for a moment reliving that fateful day when his home, the place he had cherished for the few comforts and connections it had provided, had been destroyed. Ren's eyes began to gleam with determination, "Come on, Ill take you to my library, even if theres nothing I can teach you myself I have plenty of books that will be plenty helpful for you" Ren would say Grabbing Yuri's hand and beginning to pull her along behind him.

It seems that Ren is somewhat concerned from her reply. Something that tells her that he is triggered from by certain experiences, those that stresses the need to keep something going in order not to repeat events that he thinks could be avoided. What Yuri felt was gratitude and freedom when it happened to her, many like her shared one single provider in her growth to be a "ninja". She would not know if Ren had faced a similar event as her. Allowing her hand to be grabbed, Yuri would start to wonder if Ren really had access to large number of jutsus to be learned. She thought that maybe he had strong backing when it comes to resources. It is not that Yuri is lazy and she would think that Ren is not interpreting her words as she intended while keeping up with him.

Ren would continue pulling Yuri out of the training grounds and onto the streets of Kirigakure, the bottle of sake held loosely in his other hand, all thoughts of celebration forgotten, at least for the time being. Passers by would see two young ninja bolting down the main street at full speed, the two of them turning the eyes of many confused and concerned faces. The villagers weren't sure if there was an attack or if this was just another quirky occurrence that seemed to surround the ninja of Kirigakure. The rain that had slowed to a light shower before began to bucket down once more just as the two ninja reached Rens small humble apartment, a sparse two story concrete building housing a handful of apartments.
Ren pulled Yuri's hand forward wrapping his arm around her as he leapt upwards bringing the two of them to stand under the cover of the small overhang of the second floor. Ren jogged up to his room and pulling out a key fumbled with the lock for a second before pushing open the door and leading Yuri in out of the rain. Inside was a humble two room apartment with a bedroom, and kitchen living room hybrid. Whereas the outside of the building could not be described as anything other than spartan the inside could be described as homely if you were trying to be nice, but in reality the only words that should be used to describe it are chaotic. The house wasn't unclean by any means, there weren't any dirty dishes or anything like that, but the books made the place impossible to call tidy. There were piles of books littered all throughout the room, stacks piled up in corners left and right, and in the corner a bookcase overflowing with novels and scrolls sat next to a tiny desk with a comically large tome sitting on top of it.
“I spend most of my pay on these" Ren would say as he led Yuri into his humble abode. “Although many of the more valuable one were left to me by…” Ren would trail off lost in thought, remembering for the second time that day the horrors of that fateful day when kirigakure fell. The screams and cries of the dying and wounded the panicked faces of the handful of students his master had tried to lead to safety, the look on her face as she told them to go on without her while she… Ren blinked again his eyes refocusing on the young girl he had brought here with him “Anyway what's your field of interest Yuri, most of my more valuable books are on fuinjutsu but I should have something here that will suit your interests."

Throughout the journey and being pulled, Yuri was ignoring the expressions of the others most of the time. Focusing on the grip of Ren, Yuri began to understand if she is to raise her hand forcefully now, it would cause Ren to fall backwards. It was fortunate that she was the one facing the operative up close instead. Before her thoughts can conclude properly, Ren secured her arm even further and Yuri lap to leapt together with him as well. Yuri touched down a moment later and found her on some form of extension. Taking a closer look at where she really is after getting pulled around, the surrounding suggest that Ren might be bringing her to his apartment. Yuri thought if he is bringing her to where she's thinking, then his way of education will be the opposite of her in this manner; Where training does not occur at where Yuri thought it was supposed to be. She would not comment since it is entire a matter of preferences.
It doesn't take very long for Yuri to enter the apartment that reflects her thought. Ren did not waste a moment bringing materials that looked related to her profession. A lot of them looked new to her since jutsus were taught for pragmatic purposes most of the time; Where every jutsu were taught in groups with only verbal instructions to follow. Some of them had covers that resemebles the archives Yuri was browsing at the training grounds when she was still genin. Learning by observation and innovation is the norm for her rather than following written instructions. She was also right that her reply actually triggered him when he stopped at his words telling her the sources of the books. Ignoring his surge of emotions knowing that it might go off the topic and reason of her being here, Ren asked her about her field of interest.
Yuri never used the word "interest" when it comes to her profession. Anything learned must not solely fulfill the quest for knowledge from her standpoint, maybe that was why she left him and others with very little jutsus of use. However, Yuri did not want to disappoint him especially for the reason that they just started knowing each other.
Whatever is useful As she flipped the pages of each books briefly.

Ren smirked at Yuri's words, "thats a pretty big category Yuri, everything has a use at some point in time, but in this case I guess there are a few things that would be most useful to you." With those words Ren began to rifle through his myriad of books searching for something particular, "lets see, was it this one, no, this one, nope, maybe i put it..." Ren said as he began rifling through a pile sitting in a disused corner "Ah Hah!" Ren exclaimed as he pulled out an old worn scroll with a wax seal upon it. Walking over to the girl as he placed his hand upon the scroll, the faint glow of chakra being visible beneath his hand for a moment Ren began to talk, his voice now full of a serious tone. "Now I'm going to lend this to you Yuri, because after fighting with you I feel like I can trust you, but You need to promise me you'll look after it. Its... Important to me" Ren would wait for confirmation from Yuri before he proffered the scroll handing it over to her. "That Scroll should contain most of the collected knowledge on Shadow clone techniques, Its written more from a practical standpoint than a scholarly one so you should find it helpful in learning a few techniques... And I must admit the idea of having more of you running around is... Interesting to say the least." Ren said beginning smirk in jest at his last comment waiting to see if Yuri would react before smiling and saying "I tell you what I'll race you, I've been meaning to master a handful of seals for a while now. If you can master the shadow clone technique before I finish getting this storage seal to work then dinners on me"

As Yuri flips through the pages, some of the instructions and theory could sound in her head. However, to Yuri, these were done by shouting instructions to her and she never succeeded. Sadly, she couldn't remember these things clearly even now since a significant portion of them was not taught to her by the instructor but her smarter friends instead. Thinking of that, her eyes were masked by the question of their whereabouts for a moment instead of thinking about jutsus. While she couldn't find anything great to her use, Ren presented her something important to him. Thinking what's inside the scroll, Ren told her its the scroll to learn shadow clone jutsu. This was something never taught to her because there was nothing in her that could bring out diversity when this jutsu is used. Hence, that was why the instructor always let her have some free time while the others were learning it. But now, she will have her own time to master it without the practical standpoint from her instructor's perspective winning her own.
Let's try that Gesturing for him to hand her to the scroll.

Ren would reach out to hand Yuri the scroll before hesitating for a moment... looking down for a moment Ren would say soberly "I need to hear you say it'll be careful with it. I need to hear a promise from you Yuri, you have no Idea how precious this is to me." Once Ren heard Yuri's promise he would reach out to hand her the scroll, hesitating agin for a moment as she took it from him before relinquishing his grasp on the parchment. After a few moments longer Ren's demeanor would return to normal. "Right, well then give me a second to grab my things and we can go practice at the training grounds with it." Ren said as he began gathering a handful of writing utensils and picking up a small tome. glancing out the window for a moment Ren would scowl slightly "Oh right, it's raining again, In that case you'll want this as well" he would say as he pulled out a long leather tube, used to protect scrolls, from behind a pile of books and tossing it to the girl. "Well that should be everything, ready then" he would say looking at Yuri for confirmation

Yuri did not expect Ren to be that careful about the scroll for real. Its been a while that her memorization will be put to use ever since moving out on "assignments" that has to deal with escort events. Well, if you are not ready to part with it, we should just open to see the contents of the scroll right here. Trying to give Ren an alternative so that he will not worry about the scroll being on her hands while maintaining a lighter tone not to let Ren misunderstood her words as a form of mistrust or anger. This is often true when somebody has to part with an important possession of their own. I will memorize the necessary details and that should do, we are in no hurry to move out. Yuri looked out to the sky that turned darker and looked at Ren. Will you be using what's coming down from the sky? We could stay for a while to read up. Should Ren need to utilize nature, Yuri would move out to the training grounds.

Ren seemed to internally sigh with relief at Yuri's suggestion. "That, would be nice actually, as long as you don't mind hanging around here in this mess" Ren would say attempting to chuckle and brighten up the mood again, before walking over to his desk, beckoning for her to come follow him. Closing the massive tome that sat upon it and sliding it into a corner Ren unfurled the scroll and placed a set of smooth stones that he kept for just this purpose onto the corners of the scroll, keeping it from furling closed again as the aged parchment had begun to adapt to the rolled shape it had been kept in for so long. 'One of these days I'm going to have to transcribe these onto some new paper so they aren’t lost when that paper starts falling apart.’ Replying to Yuri’s second question Ren smiled “No, the great thing about seals is that their easy to learn without needing to use any natural resources, well having some Ink around helps at first but It's not a necessity.”
After Yuri settled down to study the scroll Ren would wander over to the small kitchen, picking up a small plain leather bound book and holding it open in one hand as he began to take out a pair of cups. “Do you drink tea Yuri?” he said as he turned the page of his book, continuing to study as he began to boil the kettle and prepare himself a cup of tea. “I’ve always found it easier to study when I’m drinking a cup of for some reason”

Yuri appreciates the thought that Ren actually cleared a desk for her use upon her suggestion. Getting into the groove to start reading the scroll after knowing that Ren does not need to head out immediately as well, Yuri could speculate why her instructor refuses to teach her the technique. Not only does it distribute the chakra one has, it also affects what kind of tricks one can put since chakra pool alone now will not be that high as one single body. Her instructor must have been looking at her learning progress back then to forbid her from learning it. Her friends were pretty amazing themselves after all! To maintain between versatility and fighting capabilities at the same time is no small feat. Also, the technique is not foolproof, there are those who could still tell the difference and strike the user of the technique. If the original is hurt, there is a chance that the other clones will also be gone. Yuri could understand why back then things were that way now.
However, times are different now. She served an organization that has a lot of demand on functionality unlike a village that encourages learning as well. Also, being a chunnin now changes her status drastically. She was doing mostly courier and thug-fighting missions back in the old days, but now she has to find ways to keep the village safe. As she is reading the scroll, Ren asked her if she would drink tea. Not wanting to reject Ren for no reason but knowing that it doesn't work for her, Yuri give the reply a moment of thought.
Either way works.
