Chuunin Exam Trial Part 2

Path to Chuunin Part 2
Senshi stood in the side room at the mission office building a fierce feeling of pride burning in his chest. Just a few days ago he had received a small scroll from the mission office detailing his performance in the first Chunnin Exam trial mission he had conducted. He was more than proud to say that he had managed to pass. While he had passed it had detailed things he could work on. While Senshi had thought he had snuck pass the Chuunin without being spotted he had been wrong. The Chuunin had been ordered to allow anyone with a certain amount of stealth level to pass them by. Senshi had merely managed to display that level and thus while they had noticed him, they had not stopped him. Not to mention the fact that a Jounin had been tailing him the entire time and he had never noticed.
He hadn’t known that he would be tailed to have his performance better evaluated and the fact that he had failed to notice that he was under surveillance the whole time was disheartening. He had many things he needed to improve on, and despite how much he had been training he knew that he wasn’t the best Genin in the village. Despite that he was so proud of his accomplishments with the first exam that he had decided to start the second without the intense training he had given himself before the first trial. He hoped that he wasn’t being over confident in his abilities, he certainly didn’t want to fail this mission but he did feel quite prepared.
The secrecy surrounding these Trial missions, and the Exam missions themselves was legendary. No Genin knew what they would be up against when they opted to begin the missions. Everything was given to them on the spot and they just had to prepare. Senshi felt his body straighten and his mind clear as the door opened admitting one of the Chuunins who was currently working in the building. The man eyed the boy before him for several seconds before broadly tossing him the scroll. “You certainly don’t look ready to be a Chuunin, but whatever. You’ll either die or fail soon enough, then we won’t have to work so much. Too many of you damn idiots are trying lately that we’re overworked.” Senshi blushed slightly at the man’s words, he didn’t want to be a burden on the Chuunin. Especially as he was hoping to join their ranks soon and he would need to be on good terms with them in order to work with them.
But this was a part of their duties and the man should really take into account how so many Genin vying for the Chuunin rank was a good thing. It meant that Kumogakure was regaining its old strength, from before the Raikage had taken over. They were becoming stronger and that was something to be proud of not annoyed at. As all of this passed through Senshi’s mind the Chuunin had slammed the door heading back to his mission’s desk duties. Shrugging his thoughts off Senshi unrolled the scroll and just stared for several seconds. He really, really, really should have done some preparation training. At least whoever had come up with this hadn’t made it an instant showing, and built in some preparation time to the mission. His mission for the Second Trial to become eligible for the Chuunin Exams was to show case a minimum three techniques and explain some uses for them to the proctor. He had five days, from today to prepare his presentation for the proctor.
He was to report to Training are fourteen, where there was a secure building with reinforced steel walls that would allow a Genin to showcase some of their abilities. If he should need someone to use a technique on he was to inform the Jounin, a man named Matsu, who he was to report into every morning at 7 am here at the mission office. His trial would start at nine am, and it would be just him and Matsu-Sempai at the location when he showcased his skills. Senshi rolled the scroll back up a pensive expression on his face. He wouldn’t want to show all of his abilities but he would want to make a decent enough showing that he was passed. Which meant C rank techniques were not going to cut it here, he would need a B rank or higher. He began to rub his chin in thought, he hadn’t wanted to foray into the higher techniques just yet as he wasn’t sure he was ready but it looked like he had no choice.
It was about time anyways, he knew quite the slew of low level techniques already and it gave him a decent grounding in almost every aspect of being a shinobi. He however didn’t have the hitting power required of a Chuunin, he was always going to need to bite the bullet sooner or later. With that in mind he finally pocketed the scroll and headed out of the building he had some serious training he needed to do if he was going to pass this test. He really should have done some preparation training. As Senshi bounced from roof top to roof top his mind focused on what he should learn. He had been studying hard for this very moment and as his mind ran over all the techniques he finally decided on one. It would enhance his long range capabilities and enable him to truly help his team in a fight without having to put himself into the fray or risk hitting Reizo with his sword.
However due to just how powerful the technique was he would need a lot of materials, and time to master it. Time was really what he was short of, he had been preparing to learn this technique knowing that the materials would take time to gather. The Twin Rising Dragons technique, an A rank technique that the user would end up throwing about forty weapons at an opponent. The user needed incredible accuracy with their thrown weapons skills, they needed the chakra to perform such a technique as unsealing that many weapons at once could be tiring, and they needed to be exceptionally fast in order to throw all forty weapons as fast as possible. Senshi was happy that he had already prepared four training scrolls for this very moment. It was filled with low quality Kunai and Shuriken that would fly correctly but wouldn’t be able to cause much damage.
He only had two scrolls that were filled with enough combat capable weapons though. He also had thought he would have quite a large amount of time to learn this technique and now he was going to have to push himself to learn it as quickly as possible. He really needed to learn this and at least one other technique of B rank or higher if he wanted to make a good showing. Nodding to himself again as he arrived at his house he slipped inside his room via his window having to unseal his Locking Fuuinjutsu he had placed. He quickly collected the four scrolls he needed for training, leaving Bastuodosodo behind in his room. He wouldn’t need it for training just yet after all. As Senshi crept back out of his window he resealed it, before setting off for the training grounds.
His mind was running as to what he needed to do to complete the technique so that he could perform it well enough to pass the test. He would need to be able to hit whatever target he choose to bring to the training grounds, ideally the smaller the better. He would also need to be able to do it fast, no more than thirty seconds could pass from when he started the attack and his final weapon landed on the bull’s eye. If he couldn’t do it that fast than it wasn’t going to be a combat capable technique. He also needed to not be tired at the end of the attack. This would be not only the most chakra intensive technique he had ever attempted, but also the longest duration he would go constantly channeling chakra. He couldn’t afford to be exhausted when he had completed it or else he felt that the Jounin would say it wasn’t a worthy technique to use as his demonstration.
Senshi knew he was also going to need to develop a plan for how he approached the Jutsu test. He needed it to flow so he could go from no technique to the other with no interruptions. It needed to flow like he was in combat and thus he could show that he could use the techniques in a combat setting by using them one after the other. That would require some deep thought, thought he realized that he would have to do later. He landed in the first clear training ground he could. He would think about how to approach the Jutsu test tonight so he could have some ideas ready for the Jounin when he met him in the morning. During his run Senshi had quickly decided that the best way to begin learning the technique was to focus on one scroll first, and remain standing on the ground. Once he could do one scroll he would move to the second, still on the ground. His accuracy was extraordinarily important when it came to this technique and as such he would need to build on his skills first.
He had never attempted to throw so many weapons at one time before after all. With this thought in mind he began stretching, he couldn’t afford any sort of injury after all. After his basic stretching had finished he set into a round of push-ups and sit ups warming his muscles up. He then moved to adding squats and lunges to his warm up and then ending it with a light ten lap jog around the training area. Now it was time to move into dynamic stretching and ensure all of his muscles were truly prepared to begin. He smiled as he went and collected one of the training logs and set it up in the middle of the training grounds and then collected several more to make a wall behind the log. It was ten logs high and twenty logs wide, so as to ensure he wouldn’t lose any of his weapons. It might take a while to build the accuracy he needed and he couldn’t afford to waste time looking for weapons.
Not when time was something he didn’t have to waste. He set himself into his preferred throwing stance and pulled the scroll from his belt focusing in on the target he took a deep breath before letting it out slowly. He continued this for several seconds before his hands blurred as he charged chakra into them and unrolled the scroll. As he moved his left hand he threw the scroll so it began to twist around him, his hand dragging along it as it unfurled. The first weapon appeared and he threw the kunai, his hands beginning to blur as he threw them. He reached twelve before he fumbled and the scroll collapsed completed to the ground. He frowned at the scroll before picking it up, this was definitely going to be a lot harder than he had originally thought. Shaking his head slowly at his massive failure he laid the scroll off to the side looking at his handiwork as he did so.
Only six of the Kunai and shuriken in the scroll were sticking out of the log, and only two at precisely where he had aimed. The remaining six were all sticking into the wooden barricade he had built. Yes this technique was definitely going to take a lot of work. He returned to his position fingering the second of his four training scrolls eyeing the target. He would focus first on getting it so that he could throw all of the weapons. Then he could focus on accuracy after he could accomplish that. Senshi found that breaking techniques down into smaller goals made it much easier for him to work on them. He took a deep breath again, letting it out slowly. Once all the breath had left his lungs and he had just began to take another breath his hands blurred again grabbing the scroll he had been touching.
It flew up and around him beginning to turn around his body as his hand trailed the paper and the weapons began to appear. He threw them, focusing more on the speed than the power or accuracy he would need to add eventually. This time he managed to reach it to fourteen weapons thrown before the scroll collapsed around him. Looking up he noticed that his accuracy he had actually gone down a little, but as he had decided that was fine for now. He could build that up next. Collecting the scroll up and setting it with the other he repeated his calming ritual before starting into the third training scroll he had. This time he had no improvement on the amount he got out, and the same occurred with the fourth and final training scroll. He was stalling out at fourteen, which even though it was only his first four attempts with the technique was incredibly frustrating for the boy.
Especially since just over an hour had passed since he had arrived at the training grounds, it would be lunch in a short while and he could just feel the time slipping away from him. He hurriedly collected his scrolls and laid them out one by one on the ground and running back and forth between where his weapons were and where he had laid the scrolls out he began to set the weapons down on the scrolls in their designated spots. The seals on the scrolls made spiraling circular patterns showing where each weapon needed to be so it could be correctly sealed. It was a special set of seals, that he didn’t know how to create yet that allowed him to unseal one weapon at a time. After the thirty minutes he spent collecting the weapons he finally managed to sit down and focus his chakra and began to seal each of the weapons up.
The down side of this type of seal was that each weapon also had to be sealed independently. Senshi hadn’t thought anything of it before but now he saw what kind of a drawback it was. It took a lot of time to focus on sealing almost eighty weapons into seals. It took a lot of chakra too, so much so that by the time Senshi had completed it he was sweating heavily and knew he needed to take a break. As he looked at the sky he could see it was noon already as well. He hadn’t remembered to pack a lunch which meant he was now going to have to waste time running back into town to get food and run back here. He wanted to kick himself for not planning better. Taking a deep breath Senshi collected his scrolls and took off at his best speed, no chakra usage as he needed to build his reserves back up.
Once he was back in town he stopped at the first food place he found, a yakitori stand and ordered both lunch and something to eat for dinner. As it was the dinner rush he was had to spend fifteen minutes waiting for his food before he could eat it. As he set into his food he had to eat them as fast as he could so he didn’t waste any more time, but also as politely as he could. He was a shinobi and the image he presented represented his village. Once he had finished he paid and thanked the waiter before setting off back to the training grounds, running as hard as he could. Once he arrived he quickly set his dinner container off to the side before walking over to his throwing spot. He was sweating despite the chill in the air, the run had been taxing on his stamina that was for sure.
Not nearly as much as it used to be, but taxing none the less. He set back into his practice unsealing the scroll and throwing his weapons as fast as he could. This time it didn’t take him nearly as long to get through the four scrolls and he even managed to improve the amount he had thrown by three total, bringing it up to 17 weapons he was now getting out. His accuracy had jumped slightly, despite his lack of focus on it, so that now out of the seventeen weapons he was throwing he could hit with 9 of the weapons on his target. Granted only five were hitting exactly where he had aimed, but at least he was hitting it more than half the time. He could tell based on the spray pattern of his weapons that he was also bringing them closer and closer to the target.
They weren’t flying as far out of range as they had been initially, and as he was collecting the weapons and resealing them he found that he was proud of his progress. He had to take a fifteen minute break to recover his chakra once he had completed that. It was incredibly chakra intensive to have to unseal each weapon individually and then reseal them all so quickly. He really hadn’t put enough thought into just how difficult that portion of his training would be. Shaking his thoughts back off him set back into his training throwing the weapons in his training log with as much speed as he could muster. This time his progress was only increased by one and his accuracy had stayed the same. He couldn’t really complain about it as he was collecting his weapons, this was an A rank technique for a reason.
Plus any improvement was something he should be proud of, after all it meant he was getting closer to completing the technique. He only managed to do a few more run through before it was time to break for dinner, his depleted chakra demanded it anyways. He spent thirty minutes relaxing and munching on the food he had gotten from the Yakitori stand. He would need to go back there, as the food was quite good. Plus with how close it was to the training grounds, made it an ideal place to stop for a furiously training shinobi. Senshi finally stood up, he could practice for about three more hours and then head home to begin strategizing on how he would conduct this examination. He would make a good showing no matter what. He had managed to pass his first exam well enough and he wouldn’t be stalled here when this exam should by all rights be even easier than the first one.
Senshi’s hands blurred as he began to practice with a renewed vigor, the weapons flying as he unsealed them. The speed with which he moved and the amount of weapons he was throwing didn’t do his accuracy any favors, but after emptying his four training scrolls a fierce grin of pride adorned his features. He could finally get all twenty out from one scroll. It had taken almost a full day of hard training but he was making steady progress. As he hurried to collect and seal the kunai and shuriken he did another round of the one scroll, not worrying about his accuracy to ensure he could get all twenty out in one round. Once he had completed that, he noted that he would have just enough time to finish one more training round before he needed to head home to rest for the night. As he finished collecting and then sealing the Kunai and Shuriken he took his stance. He needed to work on his accuracy now, once he could hit the target with all the weapons he could move on to working with two scrolls.
He didn’t doubt that it would be a long and hard process but he would get it down. He had more to work on than just this technique. Though he was more focused on improving his accuracy the boy was disappointed to find that by the time he had went through his final scroll he was only hitting the target with fourteen of the weapons per scroll. As he finished collecting and sealing his weapons and started home he wondered how other Weapons specialists faired with this technique. He had learned very early on in the day why it was considered an A rank technique. Not only were that many weapons coming at you incredibly dangerous but the amount of chakra it consumed just with unsealing the weapons was incredible. He would need to learn to increase his throwing power and speed with chakra during the attack as well to truly complete it. Senshi was beginning to wonder if he had bit off more than he could chew with these Chuunin exam missions. He had certainly learned his lesson to not have a training period before taking the next one on that was for sure.
He may not be entirely positive on exactly what the next missions might entail, but that did not excuse his lack of preparing. As his Uncle had always said, “You prepare for your next mission now, because the instant you complete your last mission your next mission has already begun.” Senshi needed to remember to live by the advice that had been passed down to him, and to ensure he did not become overconfident in his abilities. He would treat everyone as though they were as strong as the Raikage and only in doing that would he ensure his own survival. He pushed his thoughts off as he finally landed on his own roof moving quietly down the side of his house to unlock his locking Fuuinjutsu and slip into his room, absent mindedly reapplying the locking seal. Within moments of arriving home he quickly gathered up his usual sleep gear and headed for the showers. He ensured he moved as quietly as possible as the rest of his family may be sleeping. Once he was done showering and dressed in light black cotton pants and no shirt he returned to his room.
Laying out his clothes for tomorrow on his end table he threw the dirty clothes into his washing hamper before taking a seat on at his desk leaning back casually. It was time to consider what he could do for his exam, exactly what would impress the Jounin the most. This A rank technique would go a long way towards doing that but he would need something else to compliment it. Senshi’s eyes landed on his sword and he felt a small smile start to alight his face. That could work. He pulled a paper close to him and began an outline on it. If he could learn Hadan: Rupture then his idea could be brought to fruition. Plus he would still be able to hide some of his skills so that the examiners couldn’t plan for everything during his actual Exam’s. He knew that it was only proper that a shinobi have hidden talents in order to surprise his enemy, and in these Exam’s the enemy was the examiner. He spent a good hour writing out his ideas and refining them before heading to bed. He knew just what he would tell the Jounin tomorrow morning, hopefully everything would work out for him in the end.
When morning came Senshi awoke to his alarm at six am, rushing down stairs he ate breakfast as fast as possible before completing his morning absolutions such as brushing his teeth. Once he was complete he quickly dressed, holstering his sword to his back and throwing his cloak on as he headed out the front door to meet the Jounin. He was fifteen minutes early, but as he settled on the bench to wait he was surprised to see a rather short man, of around five foot four approach him. The man was clearly a shinobi and a Jounin if his flak jacket was anything to go by. He had a mousy kind of brown hair with a series of wicked scars running across his face in an almost spider web pattern. As he stepped near Senshi, the boy jumped up saluting the man sharply waiting to see if he said anything. “Genin Kobayashi, I presume?” His voice was grating and rather deep and low for such a small man that Senshi was momentarily surprised.
“Yes Sir, I am.” The man nodded before motioning for the boy to follow him. Senshi was led to a roof top several blocks away from where they had met and was surprised to see seal tags on the corners of the roof. He stared at them inquisitively before the Jounin’s voice brought his eyes back to the man. “They’re to ensure no one is listening in. Anyways, this meeting is to see if you need any supplies to show case your Jutsu in four days. If you don’t know yet then we will meet again tomorrow, you have until Day four to request anything. If you don’t have everything you need requested by then, then you will have to do without, understood?” Senshi nodded nervously as he reached into his weapons pouch and pulled out the plans he had made the night before. He separated a single piece of paper from the set of three that he had and handed it over to the Jounin. His body stiffened to attention as the Jounin looked at the paper for several seconds before the man nodded and began speaking again. “All right, this is pretty comprehensive. I’ll see you tomorrow morning to see if you have any changes you want to make. Dismissed Genin.”
Senshi nodded sharply before giving a quick salute and jumping off the roof top to head towards the training grounds. He had a technique he needed to finish and another he needed to start learning. As he arrived at the training ground he had been at the day before, he was pleased to note that his little target practice area was still up and that no one was working out here. He quickly found a new log to serve as his target putting the old one into the barrier he had made behind it before he dropped off his cloak, sword, and small bag that held his lunch and dinner for the day. He proceeded to stretch out and warm up before heading to his throwing spot. Setting straight into his training Senshi was singularly focused on the goals that he had. First was to increase his accuracy with the single scroll. Second was to be able to throw two scrolls worth of Kunai and Shuriken at the targets, without any of the weapons be left over. Third was to ensure that his accuracy with the two scrolls was passable, while he was in the air throwing them at the targets. Fourth was to learn Hadan: Rupture to a passable degree, and fifth, the final goal, was to practice his plan for the exam.
As his hands blurred throwing weapon after weapon, and time passed Senshi kept his mind solely focused on the goal he was working towards. He took as few breaks as possible, only what was needed to bring his chakra back up to par so he could continue working. It was around two hours after he had eaten lunch that he finally managed to bring his accuracy to the point that he found acceptable with the single scroll. He immediately set into working with two scrolls at once, and was surprised at just how difficult it was. He had thought with all the training he had put into learning it with one scroll that he would be able to do this part easily. He was sadly disappointed in that respect. He didn’t allow this failure to get him down though and simply redoubled his efforts to get his second goal complete. He was becoming much faster at both collecting all the thrown weapons and at sealing them. Not to mention at how fast he was becoming at throwing all the weapons from the scrolls.
By eight O’clock that night the Genin had found that he could threw just over thirty of the forty weapons in the two scrolls. He was also pleased that his accuracy hadn’t gone down that much. This meant his third goal would not take as long to accomplish as he had been worried it would. He headed home after cleaning up, intent on a shower and some light studying of the Hadan: Rupture technique. Once he was home he was quick to shower and prep all of his gear for the morning before taking his seat at his desk. The small scroll that sat there detailed the information on the next technique he would be learning and he set to ensuring every bit of it was memorize. This technique was integral to his plans for the Jutsu display he would be putting on. After an hour of hard studying he set his alarm and headed to bed. The next morning found him rushing through his usual morning rituals, eating breakfast, and ensuring his lunch and dinner were packed and ready. He pleased that most of his house hold did not get up until just after seven, it let him rush through everything without having to be held up by conversation.
He headed to his meet up with the Jounin, again just over fifteen minutes early and just as pleased to see the man was already there. They lept to the rooftop they had been on before, and Senshi was still surprised at the amount of precaution that was being taken to ensure no one knew what the missions to qualify for the Chuunin exam entailed. “Anything new you want to add to your list, or any questions on the mission?” Senshi shook his head in the negative as he spoke, “No Sir, I have nothing to add.” The Jounin nodded before dismissing the Genin, to which Senshi gave a quick salute and set off at his best speed. He was intent on getting as much practice in as possible, his looming deadline the only thing on his mind as he arrived at the training grounds and began his pre training ritual. Once his gear was set to the side and he was both properly warmed up and stretched did he begin practicing. It would only take two more rounds of his four training scrolls to complete finally being able to throw all forty weapons at once.
Senshi wasted no time doing an extra round of training instead moving to his third goal. The final point he needed to make the technique combat capable. As he began to jump and unleash the scrolls contents and throw them, also focusing on his accuracy he was surprised by how easy things were starting to come to him. Unsealing the weapons and letting them fly, his hands were but a blur as the loud thunk of training kunai and shuriken striking their target echoed out, Senshi felt a sense of calm envelop him. Weapons were his thing, he would master this technique and soon he would be finished with this nerve wracking mission. A whole slew of lessons having been pounded into his head about rushing to complete things without the proper preparation. Senshi continued to practice hard throughout the day intent on getting the technique down, it wouldn’t be until just before his dinner break that he would finally manage to not only throw all forty weapons while jumping, but also to hit the target. Not always exactly where he was aiming for but none the less hitting it.
As Senshi sat down to eat his dinner he knew he would have to call it good enough and focus on Hadan: Rupture for the next three hours. He couldn’t afford to spend any more time practicing the Rising Dragon technique if he wanted to prepare for his exam. Today was the third day after all, he was entering the final hours of preparation he would have tomorrow, and he was intent on using as much of it as possible to practice the idea he had come up with. After eating and resting for a short while the boy retrieved his sword. It was time to work on this second technique. Goal number four initiated. Honestly the concept behind Hadan: Rupture was fairly simplistic. Senshi would need to charge chakra into his weapon, and then use all the force and power he had in his body to swing the sword towards whatever he wanted to cut. As he was making the swing he would release the chakra he had charge into the blade directing it out in the shape of his blades edge.
The chakra would be just as sharp as his sword as it would have taken on the swords shape while it was swirling inside of it. But also because of how much chakra he was charging into the sword to release such a technique, the speed and power with which he swung his sword would be exponentially increased. The range of the wave would be about as far as Senshi himself could throw a weapon, and since he had such a large sword he would be able to make the wave extend itself out so that it would be near five meters long. His swords width would assist him in making the width of the attack a meter deep. It would be his strongest sword attack, and if he was lucky it would have enough power and speed behind it to truly destroy his enemies. Senshi counted himself lucky that he had been training in Chakra Infusion, Raiton: Kunai Cutter, and Raiton: Chakra Blade. It would make this technique far easier to master, but first Senshi knew he needed to break the technique down into steps.
The first step would be ensuring he was getting enough chakra into the blade, it would take more than Raiton: Chakra Blade, but Senshi was unsure just how much more. The second step would be releasing the wave of chakra, ensuring it maintained at least the basic form of his sword. The third and final step would be ensuring that the wave of chakra he released traveled as far as he needed it to go, as long and wide as he needed it to be. Nodding to himself Senshi began to focus his chakra into the blade, once he had reached the amount he needed for a Raiton: Chakra Blade he pushed a bit more into it and then swung the sword in a diagonal cut forcing the chakra out of the blade at the same time. He was disappointed to see only a small amount of chakra shoot out of the blade. Shaking off his disappointment he rest his stance and began focusing chakra into the blade again this time adding a little bit more than he had the first time. He repeated this for just over an hour until he had finally managed to get to a point where he felt the chakra burning in his arms and hands and then when he swung the blade flashed forwards far faster than he had ever swung it before.
A dense blue chakra coming out of the sword and flying forwards several feet before dissipating. He smiled now that he had completed step one it was time to move onto step two. Now it was time that he ensured the wave of chakra he released was as strong and sharp as possible. With this in mind he grabbed his previous target log and moved it so he could begin focusing on attacking it. Drawing his blade back he prepared his chakra. For now it was taking several moments to charge the chakra up, more than would be recommended in a fight for sure. But the more he practiced learning the technique the faster he was slowly becoming in it. As he finally charged enough chakra he visualized the blade maintaining its shape as he released it. His arms swung forwards the large sword flashing and blurring at the speed he was now capable of. A large blade formed of chakra shot forth but did not maintain its shape to travel far enough. Senshi continued to practice maintaining the shape of the blade and finally after a scant thirty minutes of practicing he swung forwards releasing the chakra and was beyond pleased to see the log suddenly split in half.
Second step complete. Now for the third step, ensuring that he could hit a target at just under five meters away. Plus ensuing that the length and depth of the chakra blade that he was releasing was as wide as he needed it to be. The small backdrop he had created to practice Twin Rising Dragons was just the right size for this. If he could slice all those logs in half with one swing of his sword from five meters away then he would consider this technique complete. He walked over to the log wall he had built and paced out till he was just under five meters away. Turning to face the log wall he took a deep breath drawing his sword back and focusing his chakra. He quickly built the chakra up and then his hands flashed forwards releasing the blade. As the chakra leapt from his blade it slowly stretched out, but then it petered out of existence three meters away from him. So close and yet so far from finally being able to master it. Senshi frowned before drawing back his weapon, he would get this down before he left for the night. There was nothing else but to continue working hard.
That was how Shinobi survived in this world after all. It would be just after nine when he had finally managed it. The pride he felt as the entire log wall was split in half and crumpled in on itself was extensive. He felt even better over learning this technique than he had in learning Twin Rising Dragons, which was amazing considering Twin Rising Dragons was now his strongest ability. Senshi felt his tired smile as he holstered his weapon and began to collect his gear. He would be back tomorrow to practice for his exam, his plan that he had concocted needed to be refined with true practice. As he set off for home he couldn’t help but feel hope that he could pass this exam. He had learnt two very destructive techniques that were sure to impress the Jounin. As he arrived home he tiredly climbed into the shower, not even bothering to prepare his clothes for tomorrow or to do any studying he simply collapsed into bed sleep quickly claiming him. Tomorrow would be a busy and hard day as well, but then the exam and he would be able to rest and relax for a little.
Senshi rose from his bed quickly getting ready, his mind flashing back to the training he had done yesterday. He felt that he had everything he wanted to do for the exam down. He knew that it would be a little showy, but none the less he felt prepared. As he finished his breakfast off and headed out the door with his sword strapped to his back and cloak concealing everything about him except for the handle of the sword he felt pride in himself. He was strong, he was capable, and he would bring honor to himself and his family by passing this test. The Jounin wouldn’t know what to think when he was done with it. Or so he hoped. Senshi made a mental note as he jumped across the roofs to ensure he underwent some serious training to beat back this over confident pride that was starting to build in him. It was dangerous and lethal, and letting it continue to grow would eventually hamper his progress and that was completely unacceptable.
It didn’t take long for Senshi to arrive at the designated location, he was entirely too early but that was all part of his plan. He needed to ensure he was fully warmed up before he began his demonstration, nothing could be left to chance. He set his sword down and began to do some light stretching exercise before he set off on a slow jog around the building. He spent thirty minutes just jogging around before he came back to his sword conducting a light push-up, sit-up, squats, and lunges circuit to ensure his arms, abs, and legs were fully warmed up. Once complete he set into some dynamic stretching, pushing his body around so even the small stabilizer muscles were properly stretched. As he did this the Jounin stepped out of the building eyeing the dark haired boy for several seconds before finally speaking. “All right Genin, it’s time come on into the building. Everything is set up like you requested it, I’ll be able to do what you asked on the ques you wrote down. Let’s get this over with so I can get back to a real mission.”
Senshi nodded, forgoing to speak in his nervousness. He simply picked his sword up, holstering it, before following the Jounin into the building. His mind nervously ran through everything he needed to do and hoping that it would be enough. He pushed his doubts off as he entered the building looking around the large room. It had a high ceiling, and a lone set of stairs off to the side allowed the Jounin access to the balcony that lined the top of the building more than fifteen feet in the air. Senshi saw a single concrete block sitting in the center and as he looked up he could see several concrete blocks all secured to the roof with the light glinting off the ninja wire. He smiled, everything was set up just like he had asked, now he simply had to perform to standard. He had chosen concrete blocks because it would better show off his strength and power versus using the lighter and easier to destroy wooden targets. With a deep breath Senshi moved to about ten feet away from the center of the concrete block his ears hearing the Jounin’s footsteps as he walked up the stairs to the balcony. Waiting patiently for the Jounin to begin Senshi ran through his plan one more time.
“When you’re ready you may begin Genin Kobayashi, but don’t take too long or I’ll deduct points.” Nodding Senshi felt his focus land on the black and then with a swirl of movement he pushed off the ground throwing his cloak off at the same time. As he did so two scrolls swirled around his body and his hands blurred as kunai and shuriken alike flew forth smashing into the concrete block all the way to their hilts. Until as the final few weapons flew into it, it shattered. “One.” Upon his words the Jounin let loose one of the concrete blocks attached to the ceiling. As it came forth, Senshi was falling through the air, he drew his sword from his back his chakra swirling into it. When the block was only seven meters away he swung hard, the large blade of chakra flying forth from his weapon connecting with the concrete block when it was only four meters from hitting him and shattering it in half allowing Senshi to land unharmed. As his feet touched the ground he spoke again, “Two.”
At his single word the Jounin released two more blocks of concrete these ones coming flying at the young Genin from behind. Senshi focused and when he felt they were close enough he charged chakra into his feet and hands and swung spinning around as he did so slashing the two blocks in half with the force of his swing. As he was completing the spin his voice echoed out again, “Three.” The Jounin cut the second to last remaining block releasing it to come flying head on at the boy. Senshi dropped his sword ignoring the sound as it clattered against the floor. Senshi’s hands flashed through the seals, Boar, Ram, Snake, horse, and finally Dragon. As his hands lit up with the lightning chakra he directed it forwards watching as it jumped and shattered the block before him allowing it to swing harmlessly over his head. “Four.” The Jounin cut the final remaining block, as it whizzed towards Senshi he felt the chakra flooding in his legs as he lashed out with a high kick, the top of the concrete block shattered under the force he exerted.
His leg came flying back out in a low kick obliterating the rest of the block causing several tiny crumbles of concrete to clatter against the ground. As Senshi retook his stance he let loose the air that had been in his lungs bending down to pick up his sword carefully he wiped it off as the Jounin jumped down to land next to him. Senshi observed the area around him, shattered pieces of concrete covered the floor and broken blocks swung lightly in the air. He felt pride in himself at managing to finish everything, he had even been able to showcase three of the four main specialties. The only one he had missed was Genjutsu and Senshi made a note to practice some. He turned to the Jounin and gave a sharp salute before speaking. “That concludes my demonstration, Sir.” The man nodded remaining silent for several moments as he took in the destruction Senshi had wrought. “All right, clean up this building Genin then you are dismissed. Your results will be delivered to you either by courier Pidgeon or courier ninja in a few days’ time at most.”
Senshi nodded only dropping his salute once the man had left and set about cleaning up the area, starting first with his weapons that he wanted to ensure he resealed so he could use them on a real mission and enemy eventually. His use of Twin Rising Dragon, Hadan: Rupture, Cloud Style Reverse Beheading, and Raiton: Jibashi, and Leaf Whirlwind in such a quick fashion had left him tired. He cleaned slowly but once everything was swept up and thrown out he threw his cloak on and headed home for some much needed relaxation. It had been a taxing four days of intense training and he needed just a one day break before continuing his progress.

Task: Inside the villages there is not a training center that allows nin to hone their skills when attempting to rank up in their respective areas. Once such room is dedicated to the arts of showing your skill in your craft and the jutsu you have learned. This area is monitored by Jounin ensuring no one slacks off. Your mission is to perform at least 3 jutsu to show your understanding of how to mold and use chakra.
---------------------------------------Time Skip 1 Day – Day is the Day of the Exam ---------------------------------------
Senshi rose from his bed quickly getting ready, his mind flashing back to the training he had done yesterday.
