Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training Empty Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training

Wed Nov 30, 2016 10:39 am
Senshi arrived at the training grounds early, five am to be exact, as he knew he had a lot of things to work on. The boy had planned out his training for the next week, ensuring that every minute would be optimized. He had finally gotten back information on how he had done on his second preliminary exam, and he was disappointed in himself. He had barely passed. He knew that he should have spent more time practicing his display and showed more than the four techniques that he had done. If only he hadn’t of gotten over confident and chosen to conduct the mission without doing at least some prepatory training beforehand. Senshi had known that he was risking a lot by jumping into his second preliminary exam without training, but he had felt confident. Clearly he had been over confident in his hope that he was truly prepared for the exam. Not mention that but he had then spent an entire day resting after the exam, doing nothing but relaxing instead of training or studying. He had thought that his performance had been well enough to pass with ease, being that he had demonstrated one more technique than required. Not to mention the fact that he had shown an A rank, a B rank, and two separate C ranks, plus a D rank. He had been confident that showing a weapons skill, a taijutsu skills, and a ninjutsu skill would guarantee him an outstanding.

It was not a mistake that the dark haired Genin would ever repeat again. He had taken himself harshly to task for what he had done. Over confidence was the breeding ground to ending a shinobi’s life early. Something that Senshi had no intention of allowing, he intended to live a long full life in the service of Kumogakure. It was what he had been born to do after all. While his borthers and sister would be carrying on the family name, and the family trade Senshi would put his life on the line to ensure Kumogakure’s superiority. And his family’s, plus that of others family’s safety. That was the ultimate goal of all shinobi after all. Pushing his thoughts away the boy laid his small pack down, then placed his cloak and sword gently next to them on the ground. He had a lot of things to practice to prepare for his third preliminary exam, and no time to waste.

With these thoughts the boy ran through his basic stretches, before starting into his warm up. As he did a few push-ups and sit ups to warm his arms up his mind focused on his goals and his plan for the week. The morning part he would be practicing a lone, while in the afternoon he had managed to get his father to agree to release the younger of his two elder brothers in order to assist him. He had techniques that he simply could not practice on his own, and his elder brother was a good fit for his training. He was strong, but not overly so, and he had no training in Chakra, but that wasn’t the important part. He was another body that would be assisting the young Genin on mastering a few select techniques. Just as Senshi had helped Shoyu Reizo master a few techniques. He was certainly surprised that his father was allowing his brother to join him for the afternoon every day this week. Granted only seven days wouldn’t really hurt the shops productivity levels or his brothers training in his chosen craft, but still. Senshi was unused to his father allowing his brothers to help him, he always seemed to be so intent on their training in the craft.

Maybe his brother had chosen to volunteer to help him, though Senshi also doubted that idea. Neither of his brothers was particularly interested in the shinobi lifestyle. When he had first started out they had seemed jealous of his growing abilities, but because he didn’t really learn any flashy or incredibly destructive techniques they had quickly lost interest. They had been surprised when he had showed them Hadan: Rupture and Twin Rising Dragons, but not truly impressed. His eldest brother had even referred to it as cheap parlour tricks that anyone could learn. It made Senshi want to work harder in order to truly impress his family with his abilities. He did know that his pure strength and speed was well appreciated by his two elder brothers. They enjoyed when he spent time helping out with deliveries or bringing in the ore his father brought. Pushing his thoughts away the boy completed his warm up run and moved into his dynamic stretching. His plan for this morning was an ambitious one. One that had taken a lot of studying to ensure that he would be able to complete it.

He would be developing his second chakra nature, and with that idea in mind he had spent the last two days in the library studying up on what he would need to do. Well honestly he had spent the entire week in the library researching things in order to learn for his next exam. It was just the past two days had been solely devoted to the wind natured chakra, how to develop it, and some basic techniques that he could learn for it. He knew that typically learning a second element was reserved for Chuunin and above, as they saw more combat but Senshi was determined that if he was going to apply for the higher rank then he would be worthy of it. Training in a second elemental chakra was just the basic for that. If a Chuunin needed to learn a second elemental chakra in order to be a good Chuunin then Senshi as a prospective Chuunin needed to learn it before he attained the rank. It would certainly come as a surprise to any foes he may have to battle in the exams that he was already that advanced.

Senshi knew that many bloodline clans taught their children to wield two elemental chakras as Genin. Not to mention that they also had their bloodline element if their bloodline had an element. Senshi needed to be at least close to those bloodline clans in abilitiy. The only way to do that was to master a second chakra of his own. Especially since it was rather rare for a non clan shinobi to learn their second chakra nature so early. He would not fall behind his peers and bring shame to the Village of Kumogakure, or his Raikage. Nodding to himself Senshi jumped grabbing a leaf off one of the trees. As he landed back on the ground he proceeded to sit cross legged remembering what the books had said. The first exercise was to use his chakra to cut a leaf in half. He would need to split his chakra into two and then force it to grind together sharpening it. Much as he would use a sharpening stone to improve the edge on his kunai, shuriken, and his sword. One portion of his chakra would act like that while the other was the blade. Once he had managed to sharpen it successfully he needed to release the chakra through his hands and slice the leaf in half. It didn’t sound particularly easy, but Senshi was confident he could get it down fast enough. He had so far had quite a good level of success in learning techniques, especially if he pushed himself hard enough.

Though the best time in learning techniques had been when he had trained with his teammates Reizo and Max. Reizo had managed to improve his taijutsu form by leaps and bounds and easily teach him two D rank techniques that Senshi was sure would have taken days to master if not for the blonde Genin. Senshi had yet to really properly thank his two teammates for all that they had helped him accomplish. He would need to be sure to do that, in order to show them that he valued them as comrades in arms. The books he had read on teamwork indicated that if someone showed their appreciation then the team would end up working together. The book had also indicated that the more each of them enjoyed the others presence the better they would be as a team. All the books he had read on strategy and tactics told Senshi that a team of shinobi was greater than a single shinobi. Barring something silly like a team of Genin going against the Raikage that is. Being able to enhance each others abilities was what would make a team so strong. Seeing as Max was definitely a long range specialist and Reizo was a close up fighter only showed Senshi just how true that was. His wind techniques would be able to help him cover the mid zone much better as well.

He was quite good with his chakra after all. As he sat down on the ground cross legged he focused chakra into his palms and then slowly began to separate the chakra into two different parts. It was difficult splitting his chakra especially since he needed to focus on making it as even as possible. His chakra definitely didn’t want to split though, it was as though each end was a magnet and was strongly attracted to the other piece. It was taking a significant amount of effort for him to correctly split the chakra he had pulled from his main supply. As he did this he slowly formed the chakra until they took on the basic shape of a blade within his mind. His idea was to use one blade to sharpen the other, thus giving him more than a single blade of chakra to cut the leaf in his hands in half. It would be more difficult than imagining one of the blades as a sharpening stone, but in the long run it would be exceptionally more beneficial to his training. And his combat effectiveness as two blades of sharpened chakra were better than one. Once he had finally accomplished splitting his chakra into two and shaping them into a basic approximation of a small sword in both of his hands he began to cause them to clash against each other at an angle. At first it was difficult to turn each of the chakra pieces away from each other as they wanted to merge back together or lose the shape he had formed them into. Especially since his chakra seemed to be hard bent on not allowing him to split it into two. It was merely his force of will that was keeping the two pieces from merging back together.

He was stubborn however, and the longer he was keeping the blades of chakra apart the easier it was becoming. It was difficult however to keep the chakra separated and shaped into the two sword ends. He was wholly unused to having to pull his chakra like this and shape it in this way. Probably because lightning chakra had come so naturally to him and shaping and forming lightning chakra was exceptionally easy. It seemed like mere instinct at this point to use his lightning chakra, versus this wind chakra was the complete opposite. Much more delicate, and in a way dangerous. Senshi finally managed to keep his chakra apart without having to maintain the majority of focus on it. He could still feel them trying to pull towards each other but it was becoming easier as his chakra adapted to being pulled apart. The shaping portion of the chakra was the easier part of this portion of his training. He was used to throwing his chakra into different shapes and holding it there for his techniques. He spent several more minutes just holding the chakra in place before he began to move them again. As the chakra swords moved he slowly rubbed them against each other.

He was once again forced to focus on pulling the chakra apart as it came into contact. Though it was difficult it was easier than his initial attempt. He slowly brought the two swords of chakra together again rubbing them against each other slowly and the pulled apart. He could almost hear the scraping sound of swords in his mind as his chakra swords rubbed against each other. There were four swords, two in each palm that he was forced to focus on. He realized that may be part of his problem and he opened his palms setting the leaf on his lap before letting the chakra in his left hand lapse to nothing. Now he focused merely on forming chakra in his right hand the two swords forming and separating apart as he did so. He began to work on scraping them together. It still wasn’t easy but it seemed that letting his chakra lapse for a moment had lent a bit of ease to the technique. He was certainly faster this time around then he had been just a few moments before. As the swords moved against each other and he constantly forced himself to wretch them apart rather then allowing them to reform into one huge piece again.

His focus lapsed for a moment and the two pieces of chakra merged together into one losing all of the progress he had gained. He resisted the urge to let loose several choice curse words at that development. Taking several deep breaths Senshi pooled his chakra into his right hand again. Pulling it apart slowly until there was significant space between the two pieces. He then shaped them into their respective swords, imaging two saber type swords he had seen in his fathers shop for their shape. Now that he had completed that he brought the two swords together this time moving them fast, so that if they had been real swords a spark might have flown of the end. He found that by doing it fast that it was much easier to resist the pull of his chakra wanting to merge together. With a small smile he forced the swords together again and again feeling his chakra taking on a sharper edge with each movement it made against each other. Now that he was managing it with one hand he began to turn some of his focus away from that hand. All he wanted to do was maintain his two sabers and their distance for now.

He focused the chakra he had to pool into his left hand and then repeating the process he was slowly learning he began to pull it apart again. Once he had managed to pull it apart he began shaping it this time envisioning two daggers for the two blades of chakra. It would help him to distinguish between his hands and the chakra he held within if he made tem a different type of weapon. Once he had completed that he began to cause the two daggers of chakra to clash together slowly but surely sharpening each other. Once he felt he could do it with his left hand he split his focus between the two causing the two swords of chakra to clash together repeatedly at the same time in each hand. With a smile while he focused his chakra to do his bidding he picked up the leaf he had plucked earlier. He slowly began to increase the swords speed clashing them against each other over and over again. The focus it took was more than he had ever expected and it was a wonder that anyone was capable of wielding three elements at a time. Senshi didn’t even want to think about how difficult it must be to learn a third element if the second was taking this much work. Or maybe, no he refused to consider that he was less than capable. He didn’t deserve to be a shinobi if he did that. Instead he returned his focus to his blades and their quick movements. He would need to learn to do this slow eventually but for now he continued to force the blades to clash against each other.

Senshi felt a smile grace his face as sweat rolled down his cheeks. His chakra was now clashing against each other in his palms, scraping in the way he knew how to sharpen a real sword. His hands felt like they were on fire as the chakra slowly became sharper and sharper and Senshi was wondering how long he could maintain it before he would need to stop. As the pain increased he finally released the pulse of chakra. When he pulled his hands apart he was disappointed to find a light flow of blood from his own hands and a small tear through the leaf. It looked as though the leaf had been torn just over a third of the way. It was progress but not the complete thing the black haired boy had wanted. With a small shake of his head he dropped the partially torn leaf and wiped his hands on his pants. He took a moment to inspect the small wound he had caused, his mind ringing with the warning Akihana-sama had given him.

An injured shinobi could not properly carry out their duties, and he needed to ensure he maintained better care of himself. Giving himself a small nod once he had finished inspecting his small wounds, he jumped grabbing another leaf from the tree. The small wounds had already stopped bleeding and Senshi was sure were really only equivalent to a paper cut at the worst. Once he had his newest leaf in his hand he resumed his sitting position and began to focus on his chakra. Recreating the amount in his hands and then he began the process of splitting it. While it was still difficult it was at least going faster than it had the first time. Splitting ones chakra was actually surprisingly hard since it wanted to maintain itself as one whole unit. Once Senshi had accomplished splitting his chakra he forced it to take the shake he wanted to before beginning to force it to strike against one another at slight angles.

Sweat beaded on his brow as he continued to force the shake to slide along each other, slowly but surely sharpening it. It was going faster than the first time, and the amount of pain that was building in his hands was not nearly equivalent as to what he had experienced initially. As he continued, however the pain started to grow again. He was unused to wind chakra and it was a natural opposite to his lightning chakra. In fact it was what lighting was weak to and the fact of the matter was it hurt his chakra to be trying to form the very thing it was weak against. Senshi however was determined that he would have wind chakra as one of his elements. It was exceptionally beneficial for a weapons user like him to be able to use another element that was offensively based off improving weapons. Maybe if he had specialized in ninjutsu techniques he could have focused on fire or earth natured chakra.

But neither fire nor earth natured was especially useful with weapons, they had their wins when it came to enhancing weapons but nothing could add to the sharpness of a weapon quite like wind chakra could. With these thoughts Senshi finally released the chakra he had built up, once again feeling he light slice into his palms caused by the turbulent chakra. Eventually he knew he would become good enough not to slice his own palms, but as he was just learning it was a hazard he would need to deal with. Sneshi opened his palms almost hesitantly before smiling, the leaf was almost completely cut in half. As he dropped the leaf and ensured his wounds were not particularly bad, he jumped grabbing another leaf. His focus was absolute as he formed the wind natured chakra as fast as possible. He forced himself to slow down knowing that if he rushed too much and anticipated his success then he would in fact cause himself to fail. He had too much riding on his ability to learn this to allow his own emotions to fail him now.

With these thoughts he finally sharpened the chakra to what he thought was acceptable and released it. This time no new injuries occurred and as he pulled his hands apart a fierce grin split his lips at the evenly cut leaf between his palms. Pushing himself up him dropped he leaf onto the ground and looked around for a rock. Once he had found it he resumed his sitting position. Now it was time to up the ante, so to speak. He had cut a frail object such as leaf and with a bit more practice he would be able to sharpen it enough to cut through stone. He was starting small instead of with a boulder like the books had suggested simply because this was his preferred training style. Learning in steps was much easier and if he knew how much it took to cut a two inch thick stone then he could increase that exponentially to cut through a three foot thick stone. At least that was the young Genin’s basic thought process. As Senshi covered the stone with both hands he focused his chakra into his hands, this time increasing the length of the two mock blades he created of his chakra.

He was pleased at how much simpler it was becoming to split his chakra into two and force it into the required shape. He then began to force it to strike against each other, faster and faster until the two blades of chakra in his mind were but blurs colliding against each other. As he did this he created a small film of chakra over his hands and then released the now massive buildup of chakra he had created. Smiling lightly as he heard the stone crack and small puff of wind escaped from between his palms causing dust and dirt to shift away from him. As he opened his hands he was pleased to see that he had cut the small stone in half. Simply increasing the speed with which he sharpened his chakra and releasing a more potent version of it had been enough to complete this minor step he had created. With that accomplished he pushed himself up heading over to one of the few large boulders in the area.

This rock was easily four feet long and seven feet thick. He knew he would need to exponentially increase both the sharpness of the chakra he was learning to wield and the length of the blade of sharpened chakra. He placed both palms against the rock, about four feet apart and closed his eyes. Delving into his chakra he yanked up enough to perform one of his Raiton ninjutsu techniques. As he felt the chakra flowing into his hands he began to slowly split it into two separate forms. As the chakra divided into two he began the shaping process, imaging his chakra taking on the length of his own bastard sword. As his chakra thinned and lengthened, he began creating the small film over his hands to protect them from the wind chakra he was about to unleash. Now that he felt that he had protected his hands enough and the chakra itself was lengthened and thinned to a fine point he began to direct them to clash against one another.

As the two chakras in both his hands clashed they began to slowly sharpen. Senshi felt the pain building far faster but ignored it pushing his chakra to sharpen even further. It would need to be an amazingly thing point, enough to shave the hair off a man’s chin with ease if it was to cut through all of the boulder before him. As the pain ratcheted up to a new level Senshi had never experienced he forced more chakra to cover and protect his hands before suddenly he unleashed the chakra he had built up with a light yell. The wind that blew off his hands and then subsequently sliced through the rock sent bundles of leaves and dirt flying and even some rocks. The blade of wind he had created sliced cleanly through the rock and continued on slightly to slice a deep gouge into the ground. Senshi stood panting his hands still out stretched as the top of the boulder slowly slid off the bottom half and crashed into the ground.

Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training Empty Re: Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training

Wed Nov 30, 2016 11:14 am
Senshi stood himself up fully and looked to the sky, he had enough time to try one of the easiest Wind techniques he had found in the library. It was called Wind Release: Wind Arrow. Effectively he would create up to 5 twenty four inch long arrows. They would appear within his arms reach, though without a bow he would be stuck throwing them. Still as a weapons specialist if he couldn’t accurately throw some arrow he had created then he didn’t deserve the title his specialty bestowed upon him. With this in mind Senshi focused on his chakra, this time as he created the wind natured chakra he focused it into his shoulders. As he felt it slowly sharpening he focused on turning each of the four pieces of chakra he had formed into the shape of an arrow. It was distinctly harder to form this shape as before he had been using a template based on his own sword.

Using something he was so intimately familiar with, and that his chakra was used to running through was much simpler than something he had yet to force chakra through. As the arrows began to slowly take shape he first focused on forming the body in his shoulders, then a sharpened tip. He formed the tip to appear as an arrow head, sharpened to a fine point and on the sides. Now it was time to focus his chakra into forming the feathers of the arrow so that it could fly as straight as possible. As he forced his chakra to sprout three feathers on both sides of the arrow he imagined the feathers of a hawk. Sleek, formed to fit the animal so that it could lessen wind resistance and fly much faster than most other birds. Now that he felt the chakra finish forming what he had envisioned he focused and the chakra pushing out of his shoulders.

It didn’t require much chakra but he had to focus hard to maintain the shape he had visualized and the sharpness. As he did so he pushed the chakra from his shoulders watching as four arrows slowly began to materialize inches above his shoulders. It was much like creating the clone construct, however instead he was creating tangible, deadly arrows. As they slowly appeared Senshi watched as they suddenly winked out of existence. A slight frown graced his features, maybe he was doing too many at once. The book had said five, however maybe they were supposed to be created one at a time. With this in mind Senshi renewed the process, it was moving along considerably faster now that his chakra understood what he wanted. As he forced the image of the sharpened wind arrow from his body he was pleased to see it take form. The sleek shaft ending in one end to a sharpened point that gave off a slight breeze as that was where the majority of the sharpened wind chakra was focused. While the opposite end branched out with delicate looking feathers. Senshi smirked as he reached up and grabbed the arrow by the shaft before flinging it forwards.

He watched as it quickly embedded itself into the wooden practice target. A bit more practice and he would be able to make it an instinctual creation that didn’t take nearly as much time. He grinned as he moved over to his gear and pulled out his breakfast of eggs, rice, and salmon. He quickly ate taking the time to allow his reserves to recover from his two hours of training this morning. He had not realized quite how much time had passed until now. He had thought that he would get the wind natured chakra down much faster, but regardless he had still managed it and a basic E rank technique. He had plenty of time to continue working on his skills before his Brother arrived to help him. As he finished his breakfast he pushed himself up packing away his bento box and giving a slight longing stare at his sword. How he wanted to sit and practice more with the weapon but alas he had other things he needed to focus on for now. Pushing his longing off the boy moved till he was standing fifty feet away from one of the wooden targets in the area.

Now that he could create the arrows, he needed to create the wind bow that went with the technique. It wasn’t a true tandem technique but Senshi was sure with his improving ability with the wind natured chakra the he would soon be able to create the slightly harder form of the bow. Plus it would allow him to fire the wind arrows he was creating a much farther distance. Plus the bow would be more tangible and be able to protect him from at least a bit of harm if he used it to blow a technique with. At least as long as he figured out how to manipulate it correctly. The technique was officially called Wind Release: Recurve Bow. Senshi knew from his studies that as he focused his chakra to create the wind nature he needed he would also need to add in two hand seals with this one. Boar first, then ram, as the chakra flowed through the seals he would slowly pull his hands apart from the ram seal and the bow would begin to form in his hands.

Due to the dangerous nature of Wind chakra he would need to practice protecting his hands with a light layer of chakra as well. As he did this the bow would be complete and then he would need to practice drawing the string and actually firing his wind arrows. It wasn’t a chakra intensive technique, in fact really these two techniques were mainly to help the dark haired Genin in further mastering his newly developed wind nature chakra. It would make no sense to try and learn dangerous high ranked wind techniques when he could barely even perform the basics necessary to form the chakra. This way he would be safer from his own chakra and less likely to have a technique blow up in his face due to inexperience. Senshi wondered just how many shinobi learned a new chakra nature and tried to jump straight into the deep end and learn C, B, or even a rank techniques with that chakra. Those shinobi were over confident fools who would one day meet their end. Slow gradual practice to increase experience and ensure safety was the best way to go.

With those thoughts the built his chakra beginning to transform it, as he did his hands formed the boar sign. He pushed his chakra into the sign visualizing the bow he was trying to create. As it was a recurve bow it would be small, compact, and yet sleek and powerful looking. Senshi imagined the first portion of the bow forming ending in sharp jagged points with the wind chakra flowing up and down it in a violent vortex. To be honest he was recreating the image of some of the bows he had seen in his father’s shop, it was always easier to recreate the image of something you had seen before than to create something completely new after all. As the image of the foremost part of the bow formed in Senshi’s mind he moved his hands into the Ram seal. He imagined the draw string forming, going from one jagged end of the bow to the other. It looked sleek, sharp, as though someone who wasn’t careful would slice their fingers on the bow. As he created the entire bow in his mind he focused chakra into his hands, intent on protecting them from the sharp, lethal edges of the bow.

He didn’t want to cut his own hands on the string after all, the entire intent of this bow was to hurt his enemies. Kumogakure’s enemies. As Senshi felt the chakra layer finish forming him slowly began to pull his hands apart watching as the boy began to materialize before him. As his hands finally reached about three feet apart he closed one hand around the edge of the bow. Turn his hand he looked at what he had created, pride filling him as he took as basic firing stance. He had to correct his hands several times before he finally had what he knew to be the correct stance for an archer. He practiced drawing the string back several times, testing the amount of strength he would need to use and just how far back his string of wind would stretch. Once he felt more comfortable in the stance and the drawing and releasing of the string he focused his chakra once again.

It was slow, though faster than his first two attempts, but the wind arrow slowly formed. With his new found focus and training with wind chakra he was able to form the arrow so that it was already notched on his bow. Pulling back the string he focused on the target a mere fifty feet away. Letting loose a breath he released watching as the arrow flew through the air impacting several inches from where he had aimed. He’d definitely need to practice a bit more if he wanted to be able to master firing a bow. With that in mind Senshi began creating another Wind arrow, pleased that in training his accuracy he would also be training his wind chakra and ability to create the wind arrows faster. He created the arrow so it was notched on the bow again and drew back. Releasing the arrow he immediately began focusing on creating another. Once he felt it notched he fired again, and repeated the process twice more before releasing the chakra he had been using to hold the Wind bow together.

He watched as it slowly dissipated in the wind before he walked to the training log to inspect the holes he had created in it with his arrows. He pleased to note that all five arrows had hit their target, however, none of them had hit the bull’s eye where he had been aiming for. Still his progress was good and it had only been an hour of training so far. At barely eight am, Senshi knew he was progressing far faster than he had originally intended. With this in mind he retook his firing stance, for the next hour he would continue to practice creating his bow. His hands flashed from boar, then to ram, taking it slow so he could practice forming the chakra in his body and releasing it. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. As the bow took form and he grasped it again he began to form his arrows firing them off as soon as they appeared. Every five arrows he released to bow to go check his progress pleased to note that he was slowly creeping closer and closer to the bull’s eye.

Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training Empty Re: Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training

Wed Nov 30, 2016 12:51 pm
As Senshi finished another round of firing his new wind bow and checking his progress, he noted how fast time had flown by. His hour for practicing his accuracy with firing the bow, speed with creating the bow, and speed with creating the wind arrows was finally over. It was now nine am in the morning and Senshi could see birds flitting about overhead. He really couldn’t believe his progress so far this morning. To have achieved a new chakra nature and two techniques, no matter how basic and simple they were, in only four hours made the boy feel as though he was truly progressing. His control of his chakra was improving, he Kobayashi Senshi might really one day be worthy of the title of Chuunin of Kumogakure. He still felt the burn of failure in not excelling during his last exam, but with the training he would put in this week he was sure that he would be able to make up for it in his third and final preliminary.

The proctor wouldn’t know what had arrive when he entered the mission office to accept the next mission. Whatever that mission may be, he was a shinobi of Kumogakure and failure was not an option. Senshi felt his heart harden and his emotions snap under control into his usual impassive personality. It was time to move back to using some Raiton techniques, especially this next one he had planned. He had not expected to be able to start this until tomorrow, but regardless he would put his all forth and get as much of it down as he could. He was quite good with his Raiton nature at this point, considering all the training he had put into it and all the techniques he knew involving it. That should in the least assist him in completing the technique faster than he had allotted himself. Which was good as it would lend the young boy a chance to train to improve his body even further.

With these thoughts Senshi began attaching a few weights to his sword that he had brought in his bag. Once he had completed he hefted the weapon up his arms shaking as he did so. The main part of Raiton: Swift Cutting was that he would need to be able to enhance his arms and weapons to swing faster. In order to do that Senshi needed to be able to swing his sword decently fast on his own. Hence the weights he had just attached to it. Senshi began to swing the weapon through the basic katas that he knew. Focusing first on simply doing horizontal slashed. With both hands on the hilt he forced the blade through the air looking to bisect some invisible enemy. As the weapon swept from right to left and came back up to his shoulder his muscles strained to reverse its course and then it swept again back from left to right. He stood with his right foot almost a full step behind his left foot and the majority of the weight placed onto his right foot.

His front, left foot, was left with only a small amount of weight ensuring he would be able to change stances quickly and to turn with the blade. As the weapon swung through the air his knees bent and turned slightly to keep up with the strain of the heavy blade. As he finished his five hundredth slash his left foot lifted off the ground transitioning so that it was now a full step behind his right. He shifted his weight and began his horizontal slashes anew. His muscles were straining under both the weight of the blade and the physical labor of swinging it around. As he completed his five hundredth slash in his new position the Genin planted the blade in the ground wiping sweat off his brow. After a short five minute break that Senshi used primarily to slow his beating heart and catch his breath he picked the weapon up again. Retaking his stance with his right leg back he began to make vertical slashes. His sword whirring through the air sending small gusts of wind out with every swing. He again focused on getting to five hundred before switching his stance up so his left foot was back.

Repeating the procedure until he hit five hundred vertical slashed from this position. After he finished with his vertical slashes instead of continuing with a break he immediately switched his stance and began to do diagonal slashes. He started first swiping from a low right and up to the left. After every slash he reset his position and repeated it until he hit his five hundred mark. From there he switched, maintain his stance with his right foot back to conduct the same diagonal slashes except from a low left to a high right position. Once he had completed this he began to starts his diagonal slashes from a high left to a low right, ensuring to rest himself properly between each slash. He was panting heavily by the time he completed his third set of five hundred diagonal slashes but pushed himself on switching to a high right to a low left diagonal slash. His arms were shaking and lungs burning as his reach number four hundred.

Even his leg muscles were trembling slightly as he pushed himself on focusing on trying to breathe carefully through each slash to calm his erratic heartbeat. Finally however he reached the five hundredth diagonal slash and he carefully lowered the weapon to the ground before collapsing into a heap by it. He slowly stretched his arm and leg muscles as he took a well-deserved rest break. He couldn’t believe just how tiring that had been, his stamina certainly needed to be worked on much harder if he was going to be of any use in a fight, that was for sure. As Senshi stared at the sky he wondered what his team was up to, and how hard they were training. He would need to meet up with the other two Genin soon and compare notes on what they were doing. Plus he was curious if they had started their Preliminary Chuunin exams. Hopefully so, Senshi felt that as they were they complimented each other quite well.

Pushing his thought off Senshi pushed himself up grabbing his sword as he did so. It was time to go through the diagonal slashes in the opposite stance. He took his stance, with his left leg back and his right leg prepared to move in case he needed it. He had practiced all of these slashes carefully balanced on a log to ensure his stance was solid. Now he just need to continue practicing on his speed with it so He could perform Raiton: Swift Cutting to its maximum potential. He was in no way interested in just doing the Technique at its easiest lowest levels. He needed powerful moves if he was going to stand any chance of being worthy of the title of Chuunin of Kumogakure no Sato. Especially since he had heard from some older Chuunin and a few of the younger Jounin that the exams were harder now under Raikage Youka, then they had ever been under any other Raikage.

Senshi was pleased to know that his Raikage demanded the best of his shinobi and forced them to excel by creating these exams. He knew if he performed well then he would definitely be deserving of the title of Chuunin. Senshi almost wished the Genin exams had something similar in order to push the academy students to excel before they ever hit that rank. Then the village would have exceptionally strong Genin as well as the higher ranks. If the Chuunin exams were this hard however, Senshi was worried what the Jounin exams would be like. Pushing that thought from his mind Senshi continued to mindlessly flow through his two thousand diagonal slashes. Just as before when he reached his final set his arms were shaking, his breathing was labored and erratic, sweat poured down his face despite the chill air and low temperature, and his heart beat furiously. He could hear it thudding in his ears as he swing his sword forcing his muscles to obey him and continue working despite his exhaustion. As he completed his final slash he once again collapsed to the ground in an ungraceful sprawl. He had thought his stamina was decent now but clearly he needed to continue working on it harder.

Just swinging his sword around in a basic exercise, even if it was weighted right now, should not cause this much exhaustion. Senshi noted that just over an hour had passed since he had begun with the first phase of learning Raiton: Swift Cutting. As he finished his almost two short fifteen minute break Senshi removed the four weights he had attached to the blade returning them to his bag before hefting the sword up. It certainly felt much lighter than it had when he started. To be honest to Senshi it felt almost as though he was wielding a katana. He feared that if he swung the sword now he might accidentally dislocate a shoulder or send the blade flying. He would need to ensure he was careful, and to do that he conducted a few practice swings marveling at how the blade seemed to slice through the air so much easier. Maybe weighted training had more merits than he had originally thought, it was something he would need to continue doing that was for sure.

He continued to conduct a few more quick slashes through the air running through Kata and pretending to fight an invisible swordsman. Once he felt comfortable with the blade and knew that he could swing it around without sending it flying he holstered the weapon on his back. It was time for the second phase of his training. He would need to work on using his lighting chakra to enhance his muscles to be faster. It would require a certain amount of work to ensure that his lightning chakra was actually forcing his muscles to move faster and not just creating lightning out of his arms like with Raiton: Jodan. To do this he would need to push and convert his lightning chakra from his pectoral muscles all the way down his arms into each of the individual muscles in his fingers. From there he would need to focus the lightning chakra to go deeper than just his muscles. He needed to effect the very cells that made those muscles up. This was going to be a long, arduous, and dangerous process that he was looking at learning.

The Raiton chakra would likely shock him several times, and if he wasn’t careful then it would possibly tear his muscles. That would put him out of commission for quite awhile if he managed that, which was why he need to conduct the technique slowly. Once he had managed to get the basics of enhancing his muscles he would start throwing his weapons. This would require him to extend his Raiton chakra into the metal as well, but Senshi was certain that, that particular portion would be rather easy. He did after all know several techniques that forced Raiton chakra into weapons after all. In the beginning stages, truly the hardest part of this technique was enhancing his own muscles and cells first. The Raiton chakra the he had was pumping into his cells would then energize the electron and neurons of all the atoms causing them to fire faster and stronger than before.

The main portion of the technique was to enhance the users speed so that they could swing a weapon faster or throw it faster. However due to the fact that the user was using Raiton chakra it would also enhance the power by a bit. Senshi knew that due to the fact that the technique was primarily focused on enhancing speed that the power boost was not nearly as much. Still sacrificing some power to greatly enhance to speed of his swings or throws was well worth it in Senshi’s opinion. He had enough strength to make any swing or throw truly dangerous to someone on his level anyways. With the speed boost he would be able to contend with people who were much faster than him and above his level. With all these thoughts running through his mind Senshi found himself standing in the middle of the clearing wondering how he had gotten there.

Pushing the thoughts of he began to convert a very small portion of his chakra into Raiton chakra dragging it forth from his core. As the chakra pushed up into his chest he began to first form a small amount there, no more than required for a simple substitution Jutsu. As the chakra layered over the primary pectoral muscle he pushed it over to cover the stabilizers and then layered it. From there he formed chakra over his shoulder and back muscled. The Raiton chakra causing the muscles to jump and the feeling of being static shocked the jump over his skin. It wasn’t painful but it was quite uncomfortable. Senshi certainly hoped that eventually he wouldn’t have to worry about that feeling when he used this technique anymore. It would make it rather uncomfortable, and eventually painful technique to have to be used if so. The feeling actually made him remember the idea for a basic skill he had, had a month or so ago.

The Kaminari No Ririsu skill, as his body was adapting to being shocked by these low and high level Raiton techniques he could tell that he was getting better at handling them. Maybe he would be able to really learn the skill he had come up with soon, though he’d need a training partner who used Raiton chakra. Especially since he knew the hardest part of that skill would be converting someone else Raiton chakra to not be as damaging or dangerous to him. Pushing the thought off he focused back in on what he was currently working on. He really couldn’t afford to focus on anything else or he could really hurt himself. He continued pushing and layering the Raiton chakra over his chest and back until he had reached the right amount, as he had thought before just enough for an E rank technique. Once he completed that he began to focus on his shoulder sockets and upper arm muscles. Focusing and layering the chakra into two different area while also converting it to Raiton chakra was a true challenge.

Almost as much as learning the Fuuton chakra nature had been earlier. As he completed this he forced the chakra lower taking over his biceps and triceps muscles. Once he felt that they had enough chakra layered over them began to channel the chakra over all the stabilizer muscles and ligaments in his arms. It wouldn’t due to forget one of them and then when his body moved faster and stronger than it had before to tear one. He had, had to do a lot of research into anatomy just to do this specific technique. Knowing where the muscles were located and how to properly enhance a cell with lightning chakra had been tedious to study. It was probably why he had taken almost a full week off from training after his last exam. Just to ensure he knew what he was doing properly, he couldn’t afford to get hurt and put himself out of action after all.

Restarting the Chuunin Exam Preliminary trials would be exceptionally tedious, so much so Senshi was sure even he would lose all semblance of calm if it were to happen. As Senshi finished with his arm muscles he began to focus the chakra down into his elbows taking extra care to layer his Raiton over all the tiny ligaments there. There was a condition called tennis elbow that could result in over exerting the ligaments there. It was particularly prone to happen to weapons specialist who threw a lot of Kunai or Shuriken as the motion and strength required of such techniques often pulled dangerously at those tendons. As such Senshi knew he needed to take extra care in protecting himself there because if an injury were occur that was the most likely spot. He was just glad this technique didn’t involve his legs, because if it did he would be spending a long time learning to protect his knees and all the tiny delicate tendons like the ACL and MCL that were there.

Senshi finally managed to move on from his elbows and down into his forearms. This part was particularly easy as he began layering the chakra there he was pleased that there was very few stabilizer muscles that he had to protect here. Finally he got down into his wrists and hands. His Raiton chakra by this point was causing small little static charges to jump off his skin. It was a very low crackling sound due to the low amount of chakra he was using but he could also see a very light sheen to the technique. At least he knew he was on the right path since this was a clear indication that he was doing it right, even if he had started with the barest amounts of energy available. Senshi pushed through his hands having to focus on all the small muscles, tendons, and ligaments in there. It was almost as tedious as his elbows had been but once he had finally layered the chakra over his muscles he felt a small smile grace his lips.

More than thirty minutes had passed as he had been doing this but finally he had completed step two of learning this technique, the first step having been learning to swing his sword faster with the weights on it. Now that he had managed this Senshi allowed his chakra to flow over it for several minutes maintaining his focus on it so that he could form it faster the next time he attempted it. Senshi nodded to himself as he decided to continue with the technique as it was. He would practice forming it faster the next time, for now he needed to be sure that he was at least doing the process completely right. With this idea in mind he began to focus imaging the Raiton chakra as seeping into his muscles. He could feel the twitching of all of his muscles increase substantially and slowed down the process. He needed his muscles to accept that chakra he was offering them not force his entire upper body into a seizure. He continued a steady flow of the chakra into his muscles. He could feel the lightning crackling beneath his skin begging for release.

It wasn’t ready yet and he focused on imaging the very atoms in his muscles becoming infused with the chakra. It took several minutes before he felt like the chakra had completely immersed him. Being so inundated with his lightning chakra was almost akin to being Drunk or high for the boy Genin. It was simply put an amazing feeling, and he could feel the pulses of electricity in his system begging him to shoot to new heights of power. He allowed himself to be enveloped in the feeling for several seconds before pushing it off. He had a job to do, and no time to waste on feeling good about barely completing the beginnings of the technique. Not that he felt his lightning chakra running deeply in his muscles he reached into his kunai pouch pulling out a kunai, and then with his opposite hand he drew a shuriken. He pushed a bit more lightning chakra into the weapons and focused on it taking them over. It was almost instantaneous, so much so Senshi was slightly surprised by the small sparks lighting off the weapons.

Now focusing his eyes looked at the target he was aiming for with his entire force of will he imagined the Raiton chakra lighting off the electrons and neurons in his body forcing them to become more than they were. To move faster than they ever had before. With a loud crackle, sounding much like a twig breaking Senshi’s arms and hands blurred as he performed the hand signs Dog, then Rat, then snake, then dragon, and finally ending in dog. The two kunai he had drawn were crossed in front of him as he finished the hand sign. He could feel the chakra truly jump and enter his very essence and his hands and arms blurred again as he sent the two weapons flying. He felt the lightning chakra fleeing his muscles as the two weapons smashed into the wooden target burying themselves deeply into it. He wanted to jump and whoop for joy, run around the clearing like a mad man. He had managed to do the basics of a supremely dangerous technique that once he practiced a bit more would be incredibly dangerous. He knew this technique started simple at a D rank, and then worked its way up as a shinobi practiced and trained more to eventually become an A rank. While Senshi had not even properly used the D rank version he had gotten the basics down. All the mattered now was increasing the power with which he performed the technique.

Once he could do that he would be able to perform the A rank version no problem. It had taken him a full hour of work just to accomplish what he had, but he had been right. His ability and training he had put into working with his lightning chakra was paying off. He was going to get this technique down before his brother arrived no matter what. This would become one of his trump cards when he fought opponents too strong for him. He could use the lesser versions in order to fight people more on his level, but the boosts offered would be incredible. Enough that he would be able to stand against any Chuunin and shock them with the power and speed of his thrown weapons. The idea of just what this could do with his sword left the boy almost to giddy for words. He took several minutes to calm himself down and remind himself that he still had a lot of work to do, and only two hours in which to do it. Forcing his emotions back down him brought forth his Raiton chakra pushing it over his muscles, layering it as he had done so before.

This time he was using a D ranks worth of chakra and as it flooded his system he was pleases how much faster he was able to layer the chakra over his muscles and envelop both the main muscle and the stabilizer muscles. It took several extra moment to enhance his ligament before his hands blurred through the hand signs dipping into his pockets and withdrawing a kunai and shuriken he felt the lightning chakra jump into them. A loud crackling and low light dancing along both of his limps and the weapons. He threw them both pleased by the result. He began to restart the process this time with a C ranks worth of chakra. He was even faster now as he coated his muscles and layered the lightning chakra over them. The extra amount of chakra was causing noticeable twitches in his muscles but it was nothing he felt that he couldn’t handle. His hands blurred through hand signs again as the chakra seeped into his muscles taking over them and enhancing them. As he landed on dog his hands dipped into his weapons pouches withdrawing a kunai and shuriken and then sending them flying.

He laughed in delight at the speed with which they traveled, he literally could not believe just how much faster he was throwing them with such a simple technique. He excitedly pulled his sword from his back and began focusing the chakra. More than he had ever used before. He felt the lightning rippling along his skin and could see a bright light almost shining from them. His blade also showed signs of the lightning rippling along it. However he felt a sudden sharp pain, he was channeling more Raiton chakra then he had ever done before and it hurt a great deal. This was much worse than the static shock charges he was more used to. He focused on protecting himself from the lightning chakra by creating a base layer of normal chakra and channeling it through his arms and into the weapon. Once the pain had subsided he dashed forwards his hands making the seals over the hilt of his weapon as he moved.

It was awkward, he was unused to forming seals with such a large item in his hands, but as he moved he could feel that he was still doing it right. He would definitely need to practice forming hand seals with his sword in his hands more often. He was more than strong enough to bear most of the weapons weight with one hand after. He resolved to practice more on that later as he made the dog seal for the second time and felt the lightning chakra truly jump through his muscles and the sword. He drew it back and with a powerful push of his chakra and muscles he cleaved two different trees in two. He had never swung a sword so fast in his life and he found himself jumping back quickly as the tree exploded partially from the lightning superheating the sap inside of it. Shaking his head Senshi let loose a fierce smile. He had one more practice round to do before he set into practicing the technique as much as possible before lunch.

He drew forth more chakra than he had ever used at one time, or in one go. He had used an A ranks worth of chakra in unsealing and resealing all of those weapons during the Twin Rising Dragons, but it wasn’t a one go type of thing. This would be the most chakra he had ever amassed and let loose before. As he felt it jumping along his skin, this time he formed the hand seals before moving. Taking his time he moved through each slowly, he could see the lightning dancing along his arms, and feel it dancing along his chest and back. The loud crackle it was making was almost defeating in the too quiet training clearing. Even though it was daylight he was giving off a bright glow from all the lightning. Definitely not a sneak attack type of technique. As his hands finished the final seal he dashed forwards slamming his weapon in a downward slash against the two trees he had just felled. He added and extra ‘oomph’ to his swing to push himself high into the air.

It benefited him because as he was launched into the air the trees exploded again. It wasn’t the entire tree just a small portion but the power and speed of this technique had convinced Senshi that he needed to be careful and get himself out of the way. As he drifted back down to the ground he landed in a crouch. He was breathing hard and sweat ran down his face, this was definitely a technique that he would only use at full power when against very strong foes. For now he would practice it at its lower levels to ensure he could use it fast enough for combat. The gods only knew when Senshi would need something so powerful on his side. He was hoping that he’d be able to show his team eventually what he had accomplished.

Your total isnt adding up. You need 4k for wind nature, 4k for the A rank and another 1.
5k for the D and E rank, meaning at minimum you'd need 9.5k words. You only have 8.5. <3

Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training Empty Re: Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training

Wed Nov 30, 2016 4:33 pm
The dark haired Genin had managed to spend an extra forty five minutes practicing his newest, and arguably strongest technique. He had kept it to the lower ranked versions in order to maximize his training in the technique. Especially since he was truly going for speed when working with the technique. But now he needed to take not only a well-deserved break from his hard morning of training but also to eat his lunch. Normally he only gave himself fifteen minute breaks, or spent fifteen minutes eating, but today he would change that. He was giving himself until his brother arrived in the training grounds to help him in his next technique. As he sat slowly eating his bento of chicken tempura, with some calamari on the side as a small treat he reflected on the training he had conducted so far. Unlocking his Wind chakra so quickly had been a formidable boon to his training.

He would be able to surprise several opponents that he could expect to face. He was also pleased that so far the two wind techniques that he had practiced were silent, and didn’t emit any light the way his lightning techniques did. This would afford him a chance to attack an opponent from far away without also giving away his position. The Wind: Recurve Bow and Wind Arrow techniques would simply enhance his arsenal of abilities. Plus they allowed him to truly expand his knowledge of wind natured chakra by practicing such simple techniques. Really he couldn’t ask for more when it came to such a basic and low level technique. Really though, it was his progress over the last technique he had been practicing that he was most pleased about. The Raiton: Kunai cutter technique was both terribly powerful in its strongest form, and terribly draining.

He didn’t think even using the Twin Rising Dragons was as tiring as maintaining, forming, and controlling the chakra required for his newest technique. In the least he had gotten a lot of training in, so he could at least use the lower ranked versions in a combat situation now. The higher B and A ranked versions would require him to truly practice the technique and refine it much further before he could utilize it reliably in combat. Shaking his thoughts off Senshi looked up surprised to see that his brother was actually early to the training grounds. He could see his sibling was carrying four large bags over his shoulders that were stuffed full. He knew that one of the bags contained a bunch of rocks. The second bag contained a bunch of rubber balls, the third bag contained a bunch of practice kunai, and the final forth bag contained a bunch of practice shuriken. On his brother’s hip were two of the practice bokken that his father had made.

Senshi pushed himself up quickly cleaning up his stuff, by the time he had finished his brother had reached him and dropped the bags onto the ground. “All right where do you want to set up the barricade to catch all these?” Senshi turned to face his brother giving a slight bow of his upper body in greeting before responding to the older boy. His brother was a brusque type, who didn’t care to waste time on formalities of greetings if he didn’t need to. “I figure we can set it up in the center, Nii-san. If we make it long enough and curve it slightly you will be able to move around throwing from several different angles.” The elder Kobayashi nodded in acceptance before he moved over to the large pile of logs. Senshi followed him grabbing quite a few and helping his brother create the barricade. Each log was two feet tall and four feet wide, with that in mind they stacked five logs on top of each other then began expanding from there. The height would be plenty for what they had in mind, probably really it was excessive.

Better to be safe than sorry though. As they went about creating the barricade, Senshi was surprised by how quiet the clearing remained even thought there was now two people in it. When they finally completed it the barricade was a massive structure stretching in a curve through the center of the field. He would be able to comfortably move a bit in it, and swing his sword safely without striking any of the logs, but he wouldn’t be able to truly dodge anything. That however was the point of this exercise. With that in mind Senshi took his position in the center of the barricade drawing two Kunai’s. It was best to start with something small for this technique then it was to try and jump straight in with his sword. He loved Bastuodosodo, but the blade was rather unnecessarily large and not to mention heavy. He wouldn’t be able to get the precision he needed out of it just yet, but if he practiced eventually he would.

As these thoughts flew through the twelve years olds mind, his brother took up position about thirty meters from him. The two bokken lay by the other three bags while the fourth and final one was laid out next to his brother. The older boy reached down organizing it so that several rubber balls were lined out easy to grab and throw quickly. The bag was set up so that he could reach into it and pull a ball out quickly and easily as well. With everything set up the older buys murky brown eyes met his younger brothers before speaking. “All right, ready to begin little brother?” Senshi quickly set himself into a defensive stance. Finally his training with the Bukijutsu: Art of the Parry technique could begin. “Yes, Nii-san. Every time you strike me pause so I can conduct fifty push-ups, sit ups, squats, and lunges.” The older boy nodded not bother to respond as he suddenly drew back throwing the first ball at the Genin.

Senshi’s hands blurred as he sliced the ball in half, his hands quickly moving to strike the next ball his brother threw at him. The rubber balls were really just a warm up to get him used to striking at things in the air. He would need to get good enough with first the rubber balls and the rocks before he could safely move on to Kunai and shuriken. His brother was significantly slower and weaker than him so he made the best learning partner Senshi could have found. He would be able to build his skill with the Art of the Parry in a safer setting then if say he had convinced Reizo to assist him with the technique. Senshi managed to slice seventy four of the balls in half before he was finally struck by one of them. He could see the fierce smirk on his brother’s face as he dropped doing his exercises. The exercises were less meant to help him build any stamina or strength and more to help him remember to move faster.

Once he had completed his squats and lunges he grabbed the ball that had struck him and tossed it gently back to his brother. Drawing his two Kunai he reset himself into position as his brother let the next rubber ball loose to fly at him. He moved his right handed kunai slicing it in half as he turned slightly to slice the next one with his left kunai. He held bother kunai in a reverse grip with the blade pointed back, behind him and near his wrist guards. It afforded him the best chance to move the blades quickly through the air. Occasionally as he sliced the small rubber balls in half he would change his grip to ensure he had the ability to operate anyway he held them. This time he made it to one hundred and thirty eight balls before one struck him in the cheek. Shaking his head he dropped conducting his exercises with as much speed and vigor as he could. He was panting and sweating by the time he had completed and set himself back into his stance with a kunai in each hand.

He could see the weariness in his brother as well as he began throwing the balls as hard and fast as he could. Senshi felt himself blurring through the air as he sliced the little balls in half. He counted mentally to himself as he did so, wanting to keep track of his own improvement. The last ball was sliced with a vicious huff of breath from the young Genin. Sweat dripped down his face, and his hands were clammy with the exertion making it hard to keep his grip from slipping. He straightened his body stretching slightly as he looked at the mess he and his brother had made. Looking over at his brother the older boy was bent over panting, and Senshi could just see the sweat dripping off his chin. A small smile graced his features, he hadn’t realized just how much more stamina he had then his older brother. “Let’s take a short break before cleaning up Nii-san. Then we can start on the rocks, I’d like to get through to the Kunai and shuriken before leaving for the day.” His brother gave a slight nod collapsing to sit where he was at.

Senshi looked at the other boy curious as to what he was thinking, wondering if he was impressing him. The two boys took a goof fifteen minute break before Senshi stood up grabbing the empty bag and beginning to clean up the mess they had made. His brother continued resting while he cleaned, and Senshi made no comment on it. He had more stamina from his strict training then his brother did, not to mention his brother was doing him a huge favor in assisting in his training. He shouldn’t have to clean up from the mess Senshi was making. With that in mind, it took Senshi almost twenty minutes to clean up the mess of the rubber ball halves. When he had finished he noted that his brother seemed to have stopped sweating and caught his second wind. He was currently stretching his arms, the bag of rocks had been moved over to where he was throwing from and he had everything prepared to begin the next round of training. Senshi hurriedly ran and placed the bag of destroyed balls by the rest of his gear before retaking his position.

The rocks would be no faster than the rubber balls but they were smaller, would hit him with more force, and they were harder. It would require Senshi to focus more on the smaller projectiles unless he wanted to be hit with a stinging force. “All right Nii-san, I’m ready.” The older boy didn’t bother saying or nodding to his younger siblings words. Instead he just winged out the first rock his hands moving fast as he continued to throw rocks at the younger boy. Senshi blurred as he moved around his small area his hands flashing as the blades slashed through the rocks. This bag had significantly more projectiles than the first bag did on virtue that the rocks took up less space and could conform to each other. Senshi’s hands whirred as he deflected the rocks, more often than not cutting them in half through his sheer strength alone.

He wondered how he stacked up to other Genin when it came to pure strength and speed, it would be interesting to see when he used this technique in combat for real. It was finally on rock two hundred and ninety one that he felt a sharp sting as one grazed his arm. He had mistimed his swing and instead of striking, deflecting and destroying the small projectile he instead over reached and took the blow to his forearm. He quickly finished the few rocks his brother continued throwing calling time and waiting several seconds for his brother to stop before he relaxed his defensive pose. He holstered his two kunai before swiping his foot around him to clear the area of all the broke rocks around him. He dropped and began to do his exercises to ensure he remembered not to over reach on his strikes. He focused on what he had been doing when the rock had come flying in to remind himself not to make the same mistake twice.

Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training Empty Re: Chuunin Exam; Trial 3 Preparation Training

As Senshi finished his exercised he pushed himself back up drawing his two kunai, it was time to try and finish up these rocks his brother was throwing at him. He was beyond pleased to be able to have done so well on the first round with the rocks but the training he had put in with the rubber balls had paid off. They may have been larger and easier to track through the air but it had been a good idea to start with that first. He was sure that if he would have tried to use the rocks first he would no double be bleeding from several small wounds right now. This only served to reinforce into Senshi that training in phases was the best idea possible. It allowed him to gradually build the skills he needed in order to perform the harder portions of a technique. It also bettered him as a shinobi and allowed him to live by the mantra his uncle had made him recite over and over again. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. If he wanted to be fast in his techniques then he needed to perform them slowly and perfectly first, then he could become fast.

There was no point in rushing into a technique when he wasn’t sure if he could even do it right in the first place. That would just extend the training time he had given to himself, and he could not afford that. Not when his team and his village were counting on him to be as strong as possible. His brother immediately began throwing the rocks and Senshi’s hands blurred as he began slicing them in half. As he continued practicing he was finding that not only was his hand eye coordination becoming better but that he was getting better at predicting exactly where the rocks were going. It was almost like he could see their flight path in a slow motion type of thing. Not to mention he was becoming more one with his weapons anyways, allowing him to blur through the air with the kunai. He knew the exact length of his arms and hands, and the extended reach the kunai were giving him. It was becoming easier to not miss the rocks and slash through them as he began to become intimately familiar with the reach he had.

This must be what truly separated a master of weapons from a novice like himself. Learning just exactly the minimum distance he needed to move, and the amount of energy he used doing it so that he had no wasted movement was clearly important. Senshi wondered if maybe one day it would become easier and he would have no wasted movement in what he was doing. He wasn’t sure but felt sure that one day that could possibly be the case. He would simply need to train extraordinarily hard in order to accomplish something like that. Senshi focused his mind back in on the rocks, surprised that he had managed to continue working through them all without being hit when his mind had been wandering like that. His hands blurred and suddenly he found he had no more targets to slash in half. His brother had stopped throwing rocks and was panting just as hard as Senshi himself was.

The young Genin couldn’t believe that he had managed to do so well on only his second round through the rocks. To destroy all the ones that his brother had brought made him feel and incredible amount of pride in himself. He still had a long way to go but this progress was amazing in his mind. His brother gave him a slight nod as the two boys silently agreed to a break. Senshi cleared an area around himself before sitting down with as much control as his tired muscles could bear. His brother had been much more ungainly as he collapsed next his bag. Senshi only allowed himself fifteen minutes to rest before he began focusing on pushing all the rocks outside of his little barricade. It didn’t take long before he had cleared the area fully and he went and retrieved the two bags of training kunai and shuriken for his brother. As he dropped them off he spoke, “Once we get through a round of these and clean up I’m ready to call it quits Nii-san. I’ve really pushed myself today and I don’t know how much more stamina I have left. Plus I have things I need to study up on for tomorrows training.” His brother eyed him warily for several seconds. It was clear the other boy was far more tired than his younger brother.

Senshi didn’t fully understand the look he was receiving as his brother nodded, “Sure thing Senshi-kun. Let’s get started.” Senshi nodded hiding the surprise he felt at his older brother addressing him so informally. Normally his brothers spoke down to him and treated him as an annoyance. A third wheel to their advanced blacksmith training. Senshi took off towards his defending position and brought his kunai out into a defensive stance. He would need to focus on sharpening them and do some basic weapons maintenance tonight for sure. But it didn’t matter, such a thing would be incredibly relaxing for the young boy. He found that when he was conducting weapons maintenance that his mind easily relaxed and wandered off letting him complete the mindless task. It served to relax him more than stretching or taking a long hot shower had ever managed. Once Senshi felt that he was set he nodded to his brother bringing his Kunai up. “Ready when you are Nii-san.”

This time his brother took several moments before throwing the first kunai, he immediately set into following that up with a thrown shuriken. His brother’s hands moved fast as he worked through the two bags of fifty training kunai and shuriken each that he had brought. As the first weapon approached him Senshi moved twisting his body slightly and striking the kunai to the side sending it sprawling into the dirt. He eyed the first approaching shuriken trying to decided best where to land his blow on it to send it off course. He would need to be careful and exceptionally fast in order to dart his hand in and deflect the blow to the side. It would require incredible skill Senshi knew and as his hands blurred forwards he almost miss timed it. Instead he managed to slip his kunai between two of the blades and send it flying off course. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite where he had wanted it to go. Senshi wondered if there was a technique that he could learn to send a thrown weapon where he wanted it to go.

Such a technique would be clearly advanced since he would need to defect the kunai/shuriken/arrow or other such weapon in a specific way and know how to do so effortlessly. It was something he would definitely be looking into, if he could learn it then he wanted that in his arsenal. Senshi’s hands blurred as he steadily made his way through the hail of weapons his brother had sent at him. Just as Senshi was beginning to feel overconfident he received another lesson in that particular emotion. The forty third kunai, and forty first shuriken struck his ribs and side of his head hard, drawing a small amount of blood and causing a small bruise on his side. Senshi frowned as he quickly moved through the final remaining weapons. As soon as the last weapon was deflected Senshi dropped into his exercises, this time ensuring he did double the amount as before. He couldn’t afford this overconfidence emotion that he had been feeling lately. For down that path lay death.

Once he had completed his exercises, and as his brother rested he immediately began to clean up all the weapons that were strewn everywhere. It took quite a while to collect everything but once he did and it was all packed away in the bags he swung his cloak back around himself and picked up his own bag shouldering it and both of the weapons bags. His brother finally stood shouldering the bag of balls before the two Kobayashi boys began making their way home. Senshi knew he had a lot of things to study tonight in order to prepare for tomorrow mornings training. He would be ready for his next exam no matter what, and he would put these skills to good use for his village.
