Chuunin Exam Trial Part 3

Senshi woke at his usual five am time, he was exceptionally eager to get this day started because finally he would be starting the final preliminary mission he needed to qualify for the Chuunin Exams. He was worried that he wouldn’t pass, especially with how poorly he had one on his second missions. While he had done well with the stealth and infiltration missions his jutsu demonstration could have been exceptionally better. He would ensure that this time whatever mission he did was not colored by the overconfidence he had previously exhibited. Shinobi who were over confident tended to end up dead, in messy and terrible ways. With how strict Raikage-Sama was Senshi felt certain that any prospective Chuunin, let alone a lowly Genin who exhibited such and emotion would be quickly smacked down.
He was also partially motivated by the fact that he, under no circumstances, wanted to repeat these preliminary missions. It would only bring shame to himself and his family if he were to be forced to do such a thing. As Senshi was contemplating all of these things he had gotten dressed and headed down stairs to pack some food for his breakfast. Once he was done he quietly left his house and headed to the training grounds to get some warm ups in for an hour or two before he went to accept the mission. He was wearing his full ensamble plus several new items he bought. He now had several Makibishi, 16m of wire, and 2m of bandages in the event he or a teammate was injured. He had heard word around town that Reizo had completed his first preliminary missions as well.
The young Genin was excited to meet up with his team and congratulate the other boy and then compare notes. He wanted to see what techniques Reizo had incorporated in his exam and how it had been ran compared to his own. In the least he would learn some valuable new tactics and what he could expect to come in later exams. Once Senshi had arrived at the Chuunin exams he immediately drew his sword, being careful not to tear the black cloak he wore. The thing was expensive and he was certainly not looking forwards to having to buy any more. With these thoughts he set the blade down and then pushed himself through his common stretches, before moving to a slew of exercises in a circuit form. He did less than he usually did simply wanted to warm his muscles up and prepare them for whatever missions he might be given.
He knew there was a low chance that the preparation time he had been given these last several times would last. With this in mind Senshi was fully focused on making sure that he was as prepared for the exam as he could be. Once he had finished his round of circuit training he moved into a series of dynamic stretching, watching the sun as he did so. Once it was around six o clock he stopped his stretched and retrieved his blade running through his basic kata and slashes with it. He made sure to only do one hundred per, just enough to refresh himself and truly set the idea of how to wield it in, but not enough to tire himself out at all. Once he was completed he sat down, laying his blade next to him, and pulled his breakfast up to him. He enjoyed the fruit, eggs, rice, and salmon he had prepared earlier knowing that it would fuel his body through whatever task he was to encounter.
He continued to relax on the training ground dirt watching as the sun rose. As he was relaxing he also continued stretching his muscles not wanting to let the cool air freeze them up. He spent well over forty five minutes just enjoying the crisp, fresh morning air and watching as the sun painted the sky in various shades of oranges and purples. At seven thirty he finally pushed himself up, grabbing his sword and holstering as he headed to the mission office. He may not be as completely prepared as he could possibly be, but he that he had prepared extensively for this mission. The week of training he had conducted with his brother, plus the week of studying only lent credence to this fact. He wouldn’t be able to hold it against himself if he failed this task. He would hate it and feel an immeasurable amount of shame but he would at least know that he had worked hard for it.
As he moved through the village he admired the slow bustle that was just beginning as shops and restaurants opened up. He finally arrived at the mission office entering and moving to the B rank mission desk offering a crisp salute to the sleepy Chuunin before speaking. “Sir, Genin Kobayashi Senshi reporting to receive Chuunin Preliminary Examination Mission 3.” The man merely waved towards the side room as he yawned, before lazily speaking. “Head over there, someone will be in shortly.” Senshi nodded giving another crisp salute before marching sharply to the door and entering it. He positioned himself in the back corner, just in case and stood watching the door. The room was small, just barely five meters by five meters large. He wouldn’t really be able to wield Bastuodosodo effectively here. That left Ninjutsu and his basic Kunai and shuriken skills for him to use. Even Twin Rising dragons would be out of the picture as he couldn’t really jump high enough without hurting himself.
As Senshi’s mind ran through all of his available options in the event of an attack, a lesson he had learned to do from his Uncle, the door finally opened admitting a tall blonde haired man wearing a Chuunin vest. He had in his hand a mission scroll but rather than handing it over he began to speak. “The third and final Preliminary Chuunin Exam is a pure taijutsu match between you, and another contender. The winner will be allowed to move on to the next actual Chuunin exam.” The man paused eyeing the boy before him, feeling a slice of pity before he continued speaking. “Relieve yourself of your weapons and I will seal them inside the mission scroll. Regardless if you win or not you will be given this scroll and your weapons returned.” With those words the blonde haired Chuunin tossed to the scroll to Senshi who began to slowly draw his sword. He didn’t like the idea that he would be forced into hand to hand combat against an unknown shinobi.
It unfairly favored a Taijutsu specialist, and though Senshi was strong and knew several Taijutsu techniques they were all low ranked. But he could understand why they were doing this, a prospective Chuunin needed to be able to fight in all arenas. Plus in combat missions he could at any time be cornered into a hand to hand scenario like this. He could only hope this his strength, speed, and constitution were up to the task of handling this. His stamina would likely be fine as all the techniques for Taijutsu that he knew were of D Rank or lower. Maybe he really should have invested into more C rank techniques instead of focusing so hard on his specialty. Shaking his thoughts off him focused back on the Chuunin as he continued speaking. All the while Senshi was pulling his weapons pouches off his legs, laying his sword onto the unrolled mission scroll, and his cloak along with it.
“At the end of the fight I will sit down with each of you, alone, and personally go over the techniques and strategies you used. This way you will gain more experience from the fight and be able to learn more. Either to redo this exam, or to go move onto the actual Chuunin exams which will be far more difficult.” Senshi nodded along with the Chuunin finally managing to finish laying out all of his gear. With a small pulse of chakra the Genin sealed his gear away surprised at the naked and vulnerable feeling that he felt over this. Not having any weapons on him was giving his an odd feeling, which he knew he didn’t like at all. Handing the scroll over the Chuunin moved forwards to inspect the boy closer. Shinobi were taught to cheat after all and it was his job to ensure neither of the boys would do so. With a nod he began speaking again, “All right, your opponent will be here soon. Another Chuunin is escorting them and ensuring they are fully disarmed as well. Until they arrive feel free to stretch or whatever.”
Senshi nodded and immediately set into a round of stretching, it had been almost an hour and half since he had actually finished his early morning warm up and he knew his muscles could do with some extra stretching. Once he was through his basic stretches he performed a few push-ups, sit ups, lunges, and squats to truly warm his muscles up. He was ready as he ever could be for his opponent, his mind was rushing through the techniques he knew and the stances Reizo had helped him train in. He could only hope that he would be able to make a good showing and beat whomever his opponent was. Oh well he could also hope that whomever it was wasn’t a Taijutsu specialist that had several A and B rank techs underneath his belt. That would spell a certain defeat for the dark haired Genin.

A rarity, Reizo had nearly overslept his third Chuunin trial. It was nearly 7:30 am when Reizo finally got up, and he immediately rushed into the shower. He had slept very soundly the night before, having enjoyed his celebratory dinner with Yuki. The Genin was elated that he could now move on to the third trial, and he had even done some late night shopping to prepare for it. Surely this one had to be a combat related mission. He didn't know for sure, but the fact that there had been no combat related trials yet gave Reizo the impression that this third trial would be a combat mission of sorts. He assumed he would likely have to battle either a Chuunin or some other Genin vying for the Chuunin Exams as some sort of preliminary in order to prove he was ready.
Reizo ran the water, but hopped in before he had even given it time to heat up. He didn't have a moment to lose or to plan out his routine. He needed to be at the mission station by 8 am for his next trial. It was the first time in a long while that he was truly well-rested and at peace in his mind. Normally he would be eager or anxious, but for this trial he simply wanted to get it over with to advance into the Chuunin Exams. After 5 minutes, Reizo exited the shower, still somewhat soapy, but dried himself off nonetheless. His hair was still wet, but he threw on his clothes and headband and took all of his new equipment and bolted out the door, despite the cold weather. Hopefully he wouldn't catch a cold going out with wet hair. Reizo sounded off his new items: a ton of bandages, 2 new smoke bombs, an extra shuriken, a few new books which he was excited to read, and of course, a shiny new Tanto. He knew Senshi would love to see the new weapon, and Reizo felt that for personal defense, having a small weapon would be rather useful. Sure he couldn't manipulate it with his chakra like some weapons users could, but it was better than a kunai in some cases. Reizo had it strapped across his back horizontally, just above his waist for ease of use. He was looking forward to being able to use it in his next mission.
Despite his near oversleeping, Reizo still made it to the mission center with 10 minutes to spare. He walked in just in time to see Senshi walking into a room with an examiner. Reizo waved, and was about to call out his name, but Senshi probably hadn't noticed as he had already entered his room. Reizo walked up to the desk where the sleepy chuunin had been surrounded by a small mob of other Genin. He was sending them each off into different rooms, but there was no orderly conduct within the mob. Reizo asserted and pushed his way to the front, his tanto proving to be a bit cumbersome as its hilt got caught against people's bodies as he brushed past them. "Hiya. Reizo Shoyu. I'm here for the 8 am," the Genin would say. The Chuunin didn't even put in the effort to verbally respond and simply pointed toward the room adjacent to the one Senshi had entered. There was a thin glass window that Reizo could peer through into the room, as was the case with all rooms. As he walked by Senshi's room, Reizo looked over to see that he was loading all of his weapons into a scroll. Huh, a no weapons test? This'll be interesting. I was really looking forward to breaking in my new tanto too, Reizo thought, his face expressing some light form of disappointment.
Reizo stood outside the door to his appointed room, and after a couple of minutes a dark skinned female shinobi appeared, clad in the usual Chuunin attire. "Reizo? Come on in," she beckoned. As Reizo entered the room, the Chuunin shut the door behind her. It was a small cubic room, completely bare and almost entirely white, save for the narrow window. The Chuunin then briefed Reizo on the mission requirements. "Your final trial mission is a hand-to-hand, taijutsu only combat training simulation. We're going to seal your equipment, weapons, and tools in this scroll here, and you'll be able to retrieve them once the trial is over. Whether you win or lose, it might not even matter. What will matter is how you fight, and we'll be observing and watching your performance very closely. Did you get all that?" she would say. No introductions, just straight up business. She didn't come off as personal as Yuki, but they both shared the authoritarian vibe. Reizo nodded and began to undo all of his pouches and his tanto from their respective places on his body. Both pouches, his bandages, and his tanto were all stored into the scroll. The woman did a quick pat down to ensure that nothing was left behind, and then she rolled up the scroll after sealing everything away. "Please wait here while we fetch your opponent," was all she would say before she exited the room.
Reizo started to stretch- he hadn't gotten the opportunity before he left. An all taijutsu match is perfect! This couldn't be a better situation for me. I'll have to be sure to do my best, and show no mercy, no matter who my opponent is. This'll be a breeze! Reizo thought. This was just the type of trial he was waiting for- combat was his strength, and within combat, hand-to-hand was his greatest asset. Reizo eagerly awaited his opponent's arrival.

Re: Chuunin Exam Trial Part 3
Mon Dec 05, 2016 9:20 am
The morning had come swiftly for Kumogakure and already the building that housed the exams for the fledgling ninja was already bustling. Ninja moved in and out of random corridors into varying doors that also housed their own domains. He hadn't been to this area in quite some time and his steps rushed him through the crowds. The male was already running late to the examination rooms, he'd more than likely hear some form of punishment from the elders and other leaders of the examination process.
Today there was one, possibly two entrants that needed to be tested in hand to hand combat. They always called him when there were to be ones of different qualities about them. The young male was well versed in hand to hand combat but also in feeling out the potential of those that were locked in the room with him. His steps led him down a hallway that forked away from the rest of the genin, chuunin, and some jounin proctors. Sighing to himself he began speaking outloud to no one in particular.
"I wonder who they've brought me this time, Hopefuly they won't bore me. I don't like leaving my room for things I'm not needed for. I guess they wouldn't call me in the first place though if they thought it wouldn't be worth my time. We shall see."
His hands slid across the cold stone wall next to him before making contact with a folder holder picking up two files in hand and leafing through them as he stood before the stone walls as they sectioned off leading into the room where the duel would begin. His eyes opened a tad wider and a grin of pleasure crossed his face. While the door opened he made his way from the shadows to meet with the two intiates.
"Good morning Kobayashi, you've been creating a very...interesting name for yourself to say the least. You've made good strides through school, even taken it on yourself to train with some of your other ninja partners. You do seem to be very proud of your chakra levels, even being so bold as to say.."
The male flips through the packet to find what he had read earlier before speaking up once again, his red stringy hair falling back into his face as his cold eyes made contact with him.
"Ah, yes, here it is..."“I can do that, It’ll assist in my own training as well. However as my Chakra potency is so much greater I will reduce it. I must admit that I have been using Chakra sensory on you so I have a general idea as to how potent your own chakra is. I will use a D rank Genjutsu."...It's good to be sure of yourself, this seems a bit more...bravadoish. Chakra is important but it isn't everything as you'll see today."
His black robe slide across the floor beneath him as he walked closer into the room as the doors closed behind him. Tossing the folder to the corner his eyes took on the next ninja that was beside the other participant.
"Reizo...Reizo..you've kept to yourself decently well....I don't know if it's because you don't trust in your abilities yet but you are making good progress. During your second trial you seemed to question yourself a little too much on what jutsu to use and show case. You did well on the test however despite your setbacks. I've heard you are a taijutsu user however so I hope you do not dissapoint."
The young kage tossed the last folder to the corner before rolling up the sleeves on his robes. His sickly looking skin and thin frame being shown. The bulbous marks on his skin held puss and they seemed to wriggle with energy as the robe glided over them. He once again looked them both over before speaking.
"Well, you know who I am...and if you don't you'll soon find out, shall we get on with your trial?"

Re: Chuunin Exam Trial Part 3
Mon Dec 05, 2016 11:32 am
Senshi rolled his shoulders as he waited wondering what was taking so long for his opponent to arrive. He was feeling impatient, mainly because he saw this as whomever he was supposed to face as being late. As he was popping one of his shoulder muscles he door clicked open and Senshi felt every muscle in his body tense, and then surprise sweep over him. It was Reizo. Was his opponent really supposed to be a taijutsu specialist, he found the fact annoying if that were to be the case. Senshi eyed his teammate up and down wondering how he would compare to someone who had focused mainly on the physical arts of hand to hand combat. However as he opened his mouth to greet the other boy and ask when they were supposed to start his voice failed him.
For the door had just opened and admitted the one person he had never thought he’d meet. Before the Raikage had even taken a full step into the room Senshi’s right hand had already formed a fist smashing dully into his left shoulder as he knelt down on one knee. He broke normal decorum in order to gaze at the Raikage through the fringe of his hair and the corners of his eyes. He had never been so close to the man’s presence before and as he let loose a weak chakra sensory pulse he felt himself completely overwhelmed. He didn’t even know how to describe the feeling the Raikage gave off, but the closest thing would be death. The way the Execution grounds felt whenever there were multiple killings.
Senshi continued to keep his entire focus on the man before him, wondering what he brought such an auspicious presence before them. Surely they hadn’t failed already. But then why would the Raikage feel the need to show up at their Hand to hand combat examination himself. Senshi’s eyebrows rose fractionally and his face colored red at his leaders words. He was making a name for himself? Before he could really register that thought as pride the Raikage’s next words hit him like a hammer. He hadn’t known anyone had managed to overhear that comment to Kaen and Chisaki. But he hadn’t meant it as pride in his chakra levels, he was barely scraping what he considered to be good enough. He didn’t say anything, the Raikage had not asked for a comment from him and he would do nothing to disrespect the man by speaking out of turn.
While his comment may not have been made in the context that it was being taken in, he would take the admonishment and remember it well. If he came across as having too much bravado then he would need to correct that issue. Not make lame excuses about how that wasn’t what he had meant. The Raikage as more than correct anyways, in that being proud of your prowess in a single skill wasn’t acceptable. Every skill mattered, and that was why Senshi had ensured to branch out and learn what he could from every branch of the Shinobi arts. He would simply has to prove to his Raikage that he was worth the effort of allowing him to stay alive and be a Shinobi of Kumogakure. His eyes remained steady as Reizo was addressed in turn.
Senshi’s eyebrows rose fractionally again at the Raikage’s word, he really should have figured it out on his own. If they were monitoring the Genin in the training grounds enough to quote something he had said to the new Genin, then obviously the Raikage was watching their progress through the exams. That ratcheted up his level of nerves to a new degree, did that mean that the Raikage was going to watch them during their fight. Was he going to see how a weapons specialist like Senshi did against a Taijutsu specialist like Reizo. It seemed vaguely wrong to the boy to have two teammates fight each other in the first level of the Exams but if that was what was required then that was what he would do. His thoughts were cut off as the Raikage threw the folder he was holding and began to roll up the sleeves of his robes.
His head rose fractionally to take a better look at the skin that was shown. It was… grotesque in a word. Senshi’s head moved ever so slightly to the right in confusion until it dawned on him what was going on. The Raikage’s words only further proved his thoughts and he looked from Reizo to the Raikage quickly before he rose hesitantly to his feet. It lacked the normal grace he usually had when rising from such a submissive position but that was due to his surprise and nerves at facing the Raikage himself. They were only Genin, true promising Genin that wanted to be Chuunin, but Senshi doubted even an ANBU Captain could stand against his Kage. Pushing his nerves down him focused on the diseased looked Raikage. This would be like facing the instructors when he was an academy student. Granted he wouldn’t have access to the true array of technique he possessed, but he was stronger and faster than he had ever been in the academy.
Quietly he spoke to Reizo, he knew that no matter what they did the Raikage was likely to hear what they said and since they had yet to practice a form of silent communication they would have to work with their opponent knowing what they said. “Reizo-Sempai, I’ll try to create an opening for you. You’re the better of us in Taijutsu after all.” With his words he gave the boy a slight nod, hoping that the training and time they had spent together would assist them in fighting alongside each other. With a sudden push off of the ground he launched himself forwards in a Dynamic Entry, his foot aimed to connect with the man who was his supreme leaders head. He knew from working with Reizo that launching into the air like this was generally a bad tactical move, but when limited to simple hand to hand he felt that he would be able to prevent any truly devastating attacks from landing.
He really wished he had spent the time needed to master more techniques so he could use them seamlessly. That would have undoubtedly been a boon here where he could have used a technique without hand signs and still claimed it to be hand to hand combat. Chaka was an integral part of shinobi after all and if he wasn’t wasting time on hand signs then surely it would still count. He decided not to dwell on his thoughts any long and simply focus on the fight. Regardless If his foot connected with the Raikage’s head he would launch into a Leaf Whirlwind, bringing his other leg around to strike at towards the Raikage’s ribs, dropping low halfway through the attack and planting his hands onto the ground in order to change the mid to high kick into a powerful leg sweep. He controlled his breathing through sheer practice and force of will letting out an explosive breath of air as he accelerated his body with chakra.

Re: Chuunin Exam Trial Part 3
Tue Dec 06, 2016 9:20 pm
After a short wait, during which Reizo did absolutely nothing except breathe, the dark-skinned proctor returned to the small room. Reizo's heart almost skipped a beat he was so excited to meet his opponent. It was soon overshadowed with disappointment however when he noticed no one had accompanied her. The Jounin cleared her throat and began to speak, "Reizo? It seems you've attracted a bit of special attention. You, along with one other Genin of note, have been selected to participate in a rare and exclusive trial, conducted by the Raikage himself! Please, follow me!" Reizo was confused, and his mind flooded with a million new questions. The Raikage wanted to personally test him? What had he done to deserve such special attention? Had the Raikage been personally following his trials this whole time? What else does he know?
Reizo was anxious, but also still thrilled for the opportunity. It would be the greatest honor to have his formal introduction to the Raikage be in combat. He was still somewhat apprehensive about the whole ordeal, however. He knew of the Raikage's reputation for being a cruel and murderous man. Reizo still had images haunting him from the last public execution, where a woman was executed in a brutal and inhumane manner, and he could not help but associate these images with the Raikage. He had seen the Raikage before, but this would be the first time the Raikage would meet him, and Reizo would be trying his best to not squander his first impression. Truthfully, Reizo was now terrified in some ways. His power wasn't anywhere near where it needed to be to succeed against an opponent that powerful, and he held some doubts about his chances of even advancing. He loathed the Raikage and his draconian laws that caused torture and murder. Reizo would have to be careful not to expose his hatred- that would be a quick way to die. Be respectful, be courteous, and don't let your emotions dictate your actions, he would repeat to himself, over and over again. That's what it meant to be a true shinobi. It wouldn't be too hard for him, since he was naturally reserved, but in combat such emotions are much harder to contain.
He followed the Jounin into the room he recognized as the room he had seen Senshi stretching in. After wishing him good luck, Reizo entered the soon to be arena, and silently greeted Senshi with a nod. The Raikage wasn't there yet, but the boy could infer that Senshi was to be his partner. Reizo noted how much larger Senshi had gotten, and Reizo quickly quantified that Senshi was certainly stronger and beefier than himself by a large margin. He was likely faster too. How had he managed to progress so quickly? It must've taken some crazy dedication, Reizo concluded, somewhat envious of his peer. Only a moment later, as Reizo took his place beside Senshi, the door would open once more, revealing a shadowy figure. Reizo could feel the tension and the aura of the man in the air, and instantly knew it to be the Raikage. Reizo knelt to the ground to show the utmost respect, lowering his head and his gaze. He clenched his teeth in disdain, realizing that the man responsible for the death of hundreds, if not thousands was only a few feet away. The boy was regretting having sealed up his weapons so hastily, but at the same time understood the purpose of the exam. There would be better opportunities in the future- he was too weak to do anything about him in his current state, that much was clear. The air was heavy, and there was a distinct smell of decay in the air. Was the Raikage ill, or was this some odd jutsu? He couldn't be too sure, but he was too concerned with showing respect that he resisted the temptation to confirm his suspicions by lifting his gaze from the ground.
The Raikage's words struck Reizo as almost out of character. He was complimenting the two on their performances thus far, and even had some humor over Senshi's quirks. This didn't sound much at all like the man who had led what was essentially a revolution in Kumogakure that created a horribly authoritarian structure that oppressed and marginalized the people. He sounded like someone with keen senses and a strong awareness of people's character and motivations. Reizo hoped he would be able to keep his disdain a secret, but this man made the two Genin seem like open books. Reizo believed his analysis was off on one thing, however. It's not that I don't trust my own abilities, it's just that I don't trust my body. I know I'm more than capable of anything... but I don't believe my body is physically able to act on all that I set my mind to, Reizo thought. Then again, perhaps the Raikage knew him even better than he knew himself, despite never even having met before. It was true that Reizo had appeared to keep to himself, but it was clear to him that the Kage's analysis didn't cover the training he had done with Futachimaru and the other Otters. His comments were nowhere near as specific as those he directed to Senshi. Maybe he was playing favorites already. Sure Reizo had shown some of his abilities during the previous trials, but Reizo estimated that he would get the opportunity to show off something new that the Kage wouldn't be ready for- something his data wasn't able to back up.
When the Kage finished speaking and began to roll up his sleeves, Reizo glanced over at Senshi, and the two made brief eye contact before standing simultaneously. The man before them was certainly the source of the rancid odor. His skin was practically transparent, and he had these foul cysts decorating his arms. Reizo gagged in his mouth slightly, but immediately turned his attention to the trial's mission. He and Senshi would need to work together to defeat the Raikage, but before Reizo could even devise a proper plan of attack, Senshi stated his goals clearly. He was going to create an opening for Reizo. It bothered him that he didn't have any say in this whatsoever, but the Genin recognized Senshi's resolve and accepted it as the current strategy. Better for both of them to work on the same plan and possibly fail together, then to each try to have their own plan and certainly fail independently of one another.
Reizo was stunned by Senshi's speed. He was far faster than he was before- the gap hadn't closed, it had in fact widened. This gave Reizo hope that perhaps the two could take down the Raikage after all. He wasn't even sure if having Senshi create the opening was the best plan of action, seeing how much faster and stronger he was than himself, but it was likely that only Reizo was capable of using a Taijutsu with enough power to deliver the blow to win the fight. It was likely a battle they would have to win in a single blow - the Raikage wasn't someone who would go down easy.
The instant Senshi had twitched for his dynamic entry, Reizo's combat sense took over. He couldn't waste time admiring the weaponry specialist's speed- he had to close the gap and provide support and look for openings. Reizo swung around from the left at his fastest speed (25 ramping up to 50) as Senshi attacked head on. Reizo reached for a kunai, but rolled his eyes when he realized it was all a fist fight. He wasn't allowed to weave hand signs either, it would be the perfect melee. His first goal was to break the Raikage's foundation. All Taijutsu users relied on their firm balance and steady stance to execute their martial arts. He needed to make an opening in this neutral situation so that they could initiate their punish sequence. Reizo also knew that to play the neutral positions effectively, he would have to do safe, low commit attacks to bait something. Over extending against someone of the Raikage's caliber was sure to have dire consequences, which Reizo wanted to avoid at all costs. He was about two meters away from the Raikage when Senshi had reached the Raikage. Noticing that Senshi had gone high - something Reizo had warned him about earlier in their training - Reizo decided to continue observing, but to remain ready for anything. He trusted that Senshi would have something planned to cover his way down, the two had conversed over this before, surely he wouldn't just forget so easily. After that, Reizo figured the Raikage would be most vulnerable. Senshi said he wanted to make an opening, and attacking high was definitely not going to yield any openings.
Reizo waited and observed, his body crouched and his legs spread a bit further than a shoulder's width apart from one another; his arms were relaxed, but posed- his left in front with an open palm, while his right was pulled closer to his chest in a fist. Should Senshi succeed in getting his Leaf Whirlwind follow up off, Reizo would look to close the gap altogether, swinging even further around to get behind the Raikage and strike in tandem with his own Leaf Whirlwind (222/234 AP; Leaf Whirlwind; 80 Speed, 80 Strength). His first kick, the high one, rotating opposite how Senshi had, but aiming much higher. He wanted to aim for the Raikage's head first, and then come down low by his thighs. He wanted to ensure the Kage had no clear way of avoiding this first assault- he wanted to get a glimpse of how the Raikage's defense would work. With one of them attacking from behind and the other from in front in opposite directions at varying heights, Reizo figured it would be nearly impossible to dodge.

Re: Chuunin Exam Trial Part 3
Wed Dec 07, 2016 3:07 pm
Why did everyone bow to him, he had asked countless times for that practice to be done away with yet here they both were on their knees. He was just a man after all, one that could and would eventually return to the earth that raised him. No human should be bowed to and it slightly turned his stomach each time it happened. He understood why but would have preferred if they simply nodded their heads instead. He let out an audible sigh at their actions allowing the appropriate time for them to stand up and ready themselves for action.
He wondered how they would come at him, well he knew how they would come of course. The only option was for them to attempt some form of combined attack that split his attention. What this meant was that someone had to be bait while the other went for vitals. So who would be the bait, and who would be assassin in the night? He knew that Reizo was the more gifted of the two for attacking with hand to hand so his thoughts sat with the young male for being the aggressor. Which meant kobayashi would have to play the hare in the lions den.
As the two genin conversed possibly about what their plan was he smiled as he thought back to the times he'd go and attack villages with Maku and others. As he waited he felt a stir inside of him, it seemed that Epidemius was awake as well and would be watching. The three tailed bijuu had been silent ever since being mastered Mortarion assumed it was toiling away working on a new poison to inject into his body to kill the host once and for all.
As they finished speaking the kage took a breath of air into his lungs to prepare, it seemed that even the red and black orbs that circled his head anticipated a good work out from this as the speed in which they circled picked up pace. If he had blinked he'd miss the twitch in body movement that had put Kobayashi into the air barreling at a decent speed towards his head. It was different than what he had expected, but he didn't have time to think on it because of the size of the room.
The Raikages left arm started to glow with a deep purple chakra as he wound up a punch to connect with the airborne ninja's foot, he didn't like moving in fights and didn't intend to move in this one either save for the steps needed to ensure his balance stayed where it was. Enhancing his natural power with his own chakra he could have broken the leg and carried it forward with the punch through his students whole body. However this would only serve to push Kobayashi back to where he had started should nothing else happen mid air.
If successful that would be all he had to do as it seemed the other attacker would not continue with his plan if Mortarion wasn't otherwise occupying his attention on something else. Coughing in his right hand while rotating his lefts shoulder blade he'd look in their general direction with dead eyes.
"What's next?"

Re: Chuunin Exam Trial Part 3

Senshi noted Reizo’s resistance to the idea but really, what did he expect. They were against the Raikage of all people there was no way they would really be able to contend with him if one of them didn’t play the sacrificial lamb. It was basic tactics really. So while Senshi may not want to do it overall he understood that putting himself in harms way was really the best method to attract the Raikage’s attention. As for the kneeling, well Senshi had never heard a word about the Raikage not liking it. Maybe if it made him so uncomfortable he ought to make a village wide announcement or tell his shinobi to their face to simply stand. Basic decorum stated that someone on the Raikage’s status be kneeled to unless he demanded otherwise.
Senshi would never break basic decorum unless given a direct order. It was far too ingrained in his system by this point anyways. Too bad the Raikage was too good at concealing his emotions or else Senshi may have picked up on them and realized how he was supposed to act. As it was he was no mind reader and didn’t know that the Raikage hated the action. As Senshi moved forwards in his Dynamic entry his eyes picked up on his danger. He debated on using his sealless substitution but in the end decided not to. Whether it put him in more danger or not, he knew that it wouldn’t be a good idea to let that loose just yet. If he was going to cheat he would have to do it at the most opportune moment. The first attack was certainly not it.
As the Raikage’s punch lashed out Senshi turned his leg from the kick so as to take the blow on the side of his calf and shin. It would at least prevent him from breaking or spraining his ankle or foot. That would spell a rather quick end to this battle, something that would not be acceptable. Senshi knew he was strong but the power of that blow was utterly stunning. A whisper of a grunt escaped his lips as his entire momentum was completely reversed. Well that had ended the first attack null and void, not even leaving Reizo a slight distraction. As Senshi’s left foot hit the ground he held his other leg up slightly and took the full brunt of his weight on one leg. He slid back slightly farther than necessary due to this, but it prevented him from injuring his leg any further.
He could feel the throbbing pain and knew that it would greatly hamper his ability to move if he didn’t do something about it. Really he had one option if he didn’t want to be hindered for the entire fight by a bum leg. This meant he’d be wasting chakra and he’d have to be careful to shield his hand so the Raikage didn’t see what he was doing. As he pushed himself up in a one legged squat he covered both his hands with his knee and made the hand seals, Hare, Ox, and ending on monkey. He focused on his chakra and each of his individual fingers lite up a light blue, maintaining his position of hiding his hands, With a quick jab he shoved his hand into his thigh, his fingers piercing about a quarter of an inch deep. The chakra shot down his leg completely numbing the sensations of pain that he had been getting.
He then discreetly dragged his hand on his black pants wiping the blood off his fingers and simply hoping the Raikage didn’t notice the five bleeding holes in his black pants. In the least the black pants would hide the blood, if not the scent of it. He put his leg down tentatively testing it but was pleased to see with the Chakra Anesthetic jutsu that he would be able to fight on it. He’d undoubtedly have to visit the hospital after this to make sure it wasn’t too badly damaged. He’d also have to reapply the anesthetic every few minutes in order to ensure that he could continue to fight. But he was a shinobi and these things happened, it would be a good lesson in the long run. For now it was time to try a new tactic. While he preferred stealth and attacking from afar he would have to be bold and upfront in this fight.
That meant no more trying to dash in for a quick technique to knock the Raikage away, he was going to have to square up and attack the man toe to toe. There wasn’t enough maneuver room in here for two people to truly fight, let alone three. With these thoughts Senshi rotated his leg behind him and stood up in a one legged squat, not yet sure he wanted to put weight on that leg. He was confident in his abilities but that had been the strongest blow he had ever received. Frankly if it wasn’t for the pain endurance training he had received from his father then he would have likely reacted differently to the attack. Senshi gave Reizo a look out of the corner of his eye before speaking lowly. “I’m going to go toe to toe with him, can you look for an opening while I do it? If you have a better idea just let me know Reizo-sempai.” With those words Senshi walked forwards bringing his hands up as he approached. It didn’t seem to matter how fast he moved so he didn’t bother with approaching quickly. This would give Reizo a chance to assess the situation more and inform Senshi if he had a better tactical plan. Senshi sure as hell couldn’t think of one when it came to these confined quarters the restricting rules.
Once he was about two meters away he tensed all his muscles moving forwards his hands and arms suddenly moved in a circular motion as he threw his first punch with his right hand aimed for the Raikage’s left shoulder. His left hand held near his face coming forwards in another circular motion aimed for the Raikage’s chin in a quick jab. His right immediately followed up again, maintaining the almost circular like strikes but this time it was aimed for a body blow near the abs. His left returned and he chambered it for a circular strike to the side of the Raikage’s head, his final strike with his right hand was aimed for the Raikage’s right shoulder. The Chain Fist was a decent way to stand toe to toe in a boxing match with someone.
Frankly Senshi wasn’t sure how these strikes would affect the Raikage, or even if they’d hit him. He didn’t have much of a choice however and until he or Reizo figured something else out he would have to rely on the weak techiques he knew and his own speed and strength to do his best here. Frankly as long as the Raikage focused on him Senshi felt decently sure that Reizo should be able to come in and land a few hits himself. Well if everything worked out and the Raikage didn’t just decided to smash them to a bloody paste in the ground on a whim. He was lucky that he had been training so hard lately for it had increased his stamina immensely. With low energy things like this he’d be able to stand against the Raikage for a bit, so long as he didn’t take too much damage in return.
Even with having to perform Chakra Anesthetic every few minutes he still had enough chakra and stamina to fight for a while. Now if he was capable of using his truly destructive C rank and above techniques then it would be a completely other story. But fortunately these restrictive rules offered at least a little bit of help to the bulky almost teenager. Senshi was curious as to the purpose behind this test, since it only tested one of their abilities. He honestly couldn’t think of a time when he wouldn’t be able to use at least Ninjutsu as well in his fighting. Plus weren’t shinobi supposed to cheat? Still Senshi wasn’t quite willing to test that theory since if they cheated maybe the Raikage would as well. And what would they do in a small room like this with the powerful techniques the Raikage undoubtedly knew. Die is what.

What a troublesome situation the two Genin had been thrust into. Reizo didn't know what to expect from the Raikage, but being proficient at Taijutsu was not among the things he had actually considered. The man's frame was so frail an fragile looking, and yet his speed and strength were remarkable. He looked to be more capable in hand-to-hand than even Reizo recalled his father being. The boy figured it should've been obvious given the fact that the Raikage wanted to personally fight them, but the man's appearance did not seem to yield the reality that he was a Taijutsu specialist. Senshi had been blown away by a single punch with speed that was almost too quick for Reizo to even follow and react to. Judging from the strength of the punch and the damage it did to Senshi, who was physically much larger and stronger than himself, Reizo concluded that he wouldn't even be able to take one hit from the Kage. Worst of all, he couldn't even spot a single opening in that one exchange to act upon. The Raikage was much too quick, and his seeming lack of effort to ward off the attack was very disconcerting to the Genin.
How did we get put into this hell? Senshi was lucky to avoid a full on hit; if either of us take a direct attack we're finished. Never would've guess from looking at him that the Raikage was proficient at Taijutsu- and with such strength! Incredible... Reizo thought to himself, a bead of sweat forming on his forehead. He hadn't even attacked yet he felt exhausted just from being in the presence of someone who so vastly outclassed him. Reizo didn't take his eyes off the Kage, still only a couple of meters away. Senshi seemed able to stand and continue to fight, even able to put weight on his leg. Senshi was able to take something like that? He must've trained extraordinarily hard to get to that level of durability... still a blow that hard, no human should be THAT okay, Reizo didn't suspect foul play because he knew Senshi's character, but it was surprising nonetheless. Senshi wanted to try to go head-to-head with the Raikage to afford Reizo another chance at an opening, but Reizo wasn't going to have any of that. Perhaps it wasn't clear to Senshi, but to Reizo it was obvious from the Raikage's form and ability that he wasn't someone that a non-Taijutsu specialist could take head on, even with the equivalent speed and strength that Senshi seemed to have. If they wanted to even have a chance at hitting him, they would need to coordinate simultaneously. They really needed to be one person- someone with the speed and strength of Senshi, with the skill in Taijutsu that Reizo had. Unfortunately, they were divided into two separate bodies, so they would need to work as a team.
Initially, Reizo thought Senshi was just trying to act brave... but now he had come to the conclusion that Senshi was just actually insane or didn't care for his own well-being. If he tried to attack in a straight up one on one, he would get hit even harder than he just had. They needed to coordinate their attack. Reizo watched as Senshi cautiously approached their target. Reizo too, noticed that their speed wasn't going to play any factor. Once Senshi reached the same two meter distance that he was at, but from the front angle, Reizo swallowed any fears he had and forced his body to move forward in tandem with Senshi's, approaching from the Kage's right. "Attacking him one on one isn't going to solve anything, surely you noticed that he didn't even move from the last attack? I'm joining you this time, even if it means..." Reizo swallowed his last words as Senshi would move in for his attack, Reizo would do the same. He noticed Senshi would go for the head, so once again, even though it wasn't what he would've ordinarily done, Reizo went for the upper body as well. Better to force the Raikage to choose who to defend then give him access to different options by allowing him to fend attacks at two different places. Reizo had a plan in mind, but he wasn't sure if he would even be fast enough to put it into action.
Reizo launched a fast left jab at the Kage's right temple, his hand loose. It was more of a test or a "poke" to provoke a reaction than anything. He still planned on connecting with a punch, but he didn't want his hand tightly clenched. He was actually somewhat worried that the Kage was also a lot more durable than he looked, and would injure himself if he punched with a tight fist. The Raikage was full of surprises. Reizo wasn't doing any thing extraordinary with his approach, in fact it was one of the most basic things he could do, and he was almost 100% certain the Raikage would handle it easily. It worried him, but he couldn't do much else so long as Senshi was nearby. He didn't want to risk using a jutsu that could be turned against them. As Reizo attacked with his left jab, he lowered himself and prepared his body to jump or duck if need be. He was leaning into the punch ever so slightly so he could carry his forward momentum, but still pivot and change direction as needed, much like a boxer would. Reizo still wanted to break the Raikage's foundation and at least force him to move from his spot and knock him off balance, but with the way Senshi had attacked, Reizo couldn't use Leaf Gale or Hurricane to try to do that without hitting Senshi or risk the Raikage avoiding it altogether. For now, the best plan of action was to attack simultaneously with Senshi at the same height to force the Raikage to choose or perhaps simply pick a bad option to deal with one or both of the attacks. We just need to find one opening... that's it. One opening and we can land a solid string of attacks on him. But he's all of our skill combined, plus additional experience, and plus more advanced jutsu and training. Our only real hope is to split his attention and force an error. It sucks, but this is all I can offer for now! Reizo thought, as he launched his jab at the Raikage's right temple. He expected this to go awry quickly. He felt a small sense of guilt knowing that he hadn't even used a single jutsu, and yet Senshi had been attacking relentlessly with what little jutsu he did know, but it couldn't be helped. He had to make sure he was conservative in making his big play.

It seemed that the two were ready to continue the assault once more with revived will and vigor. His attack that should have yielded the leg he hit unusable for the time being was still working properly. The Kage couldn't help but wonder what Kobayashi had done to mitigate the effects, he'd have to test the endurance of the rest of the males body.
Reizo on the other hand had still remained alert yet no action was taken accept for closing distance. A joint attack was more than likely going to be their next course of action. Attacking one at a time would always benefit him with the time needed to maneuver around the both of them. As Senshi made his way towards Mortarion the kage would shift his position once more taking on the stance a kick boxer.
Mortarions arms stood outstretched in front of him slightly bent at the elbow while his body remained straight forward his left foot leading while the right remained backwards with a slight bend as weight was applied to the leg. The stance he took was one of his favorite more neutral stances that gave him more reaction room as they'd enter his zone well before they forced him into his.
Sure enough Senshi was the first to arrive to their destination, the first punch being thrown with his right hand. Due to the motion of the punches and Mortarions placement of his hands his left instinctively moved for a outside block. The punch carried weight to it and as such he didn't want to stop the momentum but instead redirect it by rolling his left arm down as it made contact with Senshi's right forearm pushing the punch lower expending his opponents energy without causing actual harm to himself save for slight bruising he was sure to endure.
Reizo had decided to attack at the same time as this was happening except he only used a normal punch. Mortarion assumed it was to ensure he didn't so anything that would harm his partner, this was a mistake. They had effectively both entered into his space and unbeknownst to each other limited their own actions. One going lower would have been more ideal than the both of them attacking where his full attention was at the time.
Before Senshi's next hit could take place Mortarion had already with his right hand attempted to grab Reizo's arm at the wrist pulling his body with force. It would if nothing else happened and Senshi indeed did not stop his combo cause Reizo to take the brunt of the punch to the back of his neck. Already having his weight on his right leg the plague lord would push off of it bringing it around in a side kick aimed towards Reizo's second and third rib with force to carry his body into Senshi's and both of them into the wall that only lingered a few meters behind them. The dark purple aura around his leg dissipated as the attack finished.
A few more coughs escaped his mouth as he returned to a neutral stance this time his left hand covered his mouth as the coughing fit continued.
He wondered how much more punishment their bodies could take and if they would give up on this exam. There was also the possibility that they would cheat, now that would be interesting. Looking down at his hand to ensure there was no blood this time in his hand after coughing he motioned to both of them to stand up.

Re: Chuunin Exam Trial Part 3
Sun Dec 11, 2016 10:16 pm
As the Raikage took a basic stance Senshi was fairly surprised by the way he did it. The stance seemed stable enough but didn’t really show any advanced form that Senshi had been expecting from the man. Still just because the form looked basic to him, that didn’t mean he couldn’t easily use it to transition to something more advanced then what he was showing now. Plus Senshi knew that he wasn’t a taijutsu specialist so while he could look for and identify weaknesses in some opponents stances, someone who was good with Taijutsu or who outranked him so much that meant that he probably wouldn’t be able to find a weakness. Senshi slightly regretted his choice in specialties right now, but he knew that when it came to weapons he was nearly unparalleled when it came to people his rank.
As Senshi closed and began his little boxing match he was surprised by how quickly the Raikage reacted bringing his arm up and blocking the punch by redirecting it. As his arm was moved down away from his intended target. He could feel the Raikage’s skin against him arm and frankly he was slightly repulsed by those pustules touching him. He would need to ensure a very thorough shower tonight in order to ensure he didn’t catch whatever was effecting the Raikage. He might not be one much for looks but still he didn’t fancy having any type of disease like this. Senshi was quite sure they wouldn’t be able to truly injure the Raikage. He was only a Genin, granted a Genin looking to become a Chuunin but still someone of such low rank hardly stood a chance against someone with as much experience as the Raikage.
Especially when one of their number wasn’t a Taijutsu specialist and they were limited to straight Taijutsu type attacks. As Reizo made for is punch Senshi felt himself take a slight smooth step to the side while continuing his combo. He wanted to ensure he didn’t get in Reizo’s way as the other boy was clearly the specialist here and Senshi would defer to him. As Senshi’s fist was coming forward he saw the Raikage going for a grapple on the other Genin. He immediately redirected the force of his punch initially overextending himself. As Reizo fought the grapple, Senshi moved his body so that it was briefly hidden by the other boy’s body. As soon as he was sure that he was behind him his hands immediately moved forming seals.
It technically wasn’t cheating because the technique was listed as a taijutsu technique. It did however use his chakra and his lightning element. He had done some basic training in the Raiton: Jodan technique. Not enough to truly be capable of it but he knew that with how much training he had done in his lightning element he felt that he would be capable of performing this technique with easy. It was simply a basic one two fist combo. He would initiate with a jab and then use his dominate hand, which would be charged up with his lightning chakra, in a vicious uppercut. Adding in the extra damage of lightning chakra mixed with a punch would mean that even if he missed, if the Raikage touched him he would still take some form of damage from the lightning chakra.
Unless he knew a skill kind of like Senshi did, with Kaminari No Ririsu. He certainly hoped the Raikage didn’t have a skill like this because if he did then it would be completely ineffective. His hands flashed into the tiger seal and he felt his chakra pulse higher flowing into the seal and he began to direct it towards his right fist. He then switched to the Dog seal, and he felt his lightning nature flare up as he converted it and charged through his core and hands. He continued to focus the chakra into his right hand pleased to see feel the lightning chakra molding and flowing smoothly into his hand. He had been right this technique was basic enough that with the amount of training he had put into lightning type techniques he was finding it exceedingly easy.
Especially considering this would be his first time truly using the technique in a fight. He was happy that Reizo was managing to fend off the Raikage well enough with his own attempt at a grapple that Senshi was able to move behind him and hopefully form the seals without the Raikage seeing. Regardless as Senshi finished pushing the chakra into his right hand. He was, after all, completely committed to performing the Taijutsu technique that used his lightning chakra. Suddenly his hand crackled and small bits of static electricity clearly jumped around his hand. He finally moved out from behind Reizo and effectively he was now several inches from where Reizo had previously occupied. His Chain fist combo had been thoroughly interrupted and Senshi knew that unless he found a way to his hand seals this would be his final attack before the Chakra Anesthetic jutsu wore off and he lost partial use of his right leg.
That would be devastating development in this fight, for while it wouldn’t affect his fists capabilities he would find himself unable to dodge attacks as well. Moving around on the leg would be extraordinarily difficult and he was worried that it might buckle underneath him. Still it at least it hadn’t felt broken when he had first applied the anesthetic jutsu. As he moved into Reizo’s spot his left fist came forward in a jab hoping that the Raikage would do something to defend against it. He moved his body down in a slight duck clenching his abdominal muscles as he did so. He then pushed off the ground with as much power in his legs as he could aiming his upper cut straight for the Raikage’s balls.
It was a seriously low blow hit, but honestly it was the spot he figured would be one the least defended right now since Reizo was dealing with the Raikage’s upper body, and two a spot that the Raikage should feel an instinctual impulse to block at all costs. Which would ensure that his right fist hit at least something hopefully. Plus he was a shinobi and what was wrong with using a dirty move like this. Shinobi were taught to win at any cost, to complete their mission at any cost. He took no joy in aiming for such a weak spot, but honestly that’s what weak spots were there for. Shinobi were meant to exploit them and he would do anything to prove himself as a viable candidate for Chuunin. He needed to be able to stand up for his country better and the only way to do that was to become a Chuunin so he could learn even more.
Still Senshi did feel a slight amount of fear at what the Raikage would do in retaliation for this attack. Frankly if it was him being attacked in this manner by another shinobi he would come back viciously at them. He knew just how painful it was to be hit in the balls. This was also a good note to himself to invest in some kind of protector for his genetelia. That way no one would be able to do something like this to him. Regardless of where his fist would connect he would already be standing again as the force with which he had thrown his fist up with the power of his legs behind it would ensure this. He would make sure to keep his eyes on where Reizo was so that he could try to avoid getting in the other Genin way. He also didn’t want the Raikage to use Reizo against him like he had earlier. It was due to pure luck and Senshi’s reaction time and speed that he had been able to move his fist from trying to strike the other boy.
Still it had been frighteningly close, Reizo had undoubtedly felt the wind brush by his neck as Senshi had diverted the strike. There was little he could have done to stop it as he had been putting his full power and strength into the strikes. He also wasn’t skilled enough with taijutsu to be able to stop a punch of that power and speed in time anyways. Frankly he thought he should really begin focusing on Taijutsu more so as to ensure something like this didn’t happen the next time they fought together. He and Reizo should also practice fighting together so that it wasn’t so awkward having to dodge around each other so much. Senshi was almost certain that if he and Reizo had more experience fighting next to one another that they would have been able to better coordinate their attacks and at least put the Raikage more on the defensive.
Senshi wasn’t sure that he would have been able to anything if it had been him against the Raikage on his own. Despite Reizo not really being able to perform that many attacks, Senshi knew that he was lucky to have his assistance. Plus most of Reizo’s inability to attack had been due to Senshi’s failure to create a good enough opening for the other boy. He had no doubt that Reizo was keeping a strict lookout for any openings that might appear. Though even through his taijutsu specialty he might not be capable of finding one anyways. He was also just a Genin shooting for the Chuunin rank as well. Against a Raikage of Youka’s caliber it was likely that even with his specialty that he might not be capable of finding that weak spot.
They were likely already doomed to failure. Beating their opponent did not seem to be something they were currently capable of. And this was just a taijutsu fight, Senshi didn’t even want to think of what would happen were it to be an actual all out fight. With the Raikage capable of accessing all of his Ninjutsu, his kekkei genkei, and his own weapons. It would likely result in the violent death of two of Kumogakure’s Genin. Plus that would mean team awesome would be disbanded, since only Max and Itami would be on it at that point. As it was if Senshi and Reizo or just one of the two did manage a promotion, Senshi certainly hoped that they were still allowed to stay on a team together. He could already feel the beginnings of friendship forming between Max and him. As for Reizo, well the two were so different that it would take a bit more time before Senshi would begin to feel friendship forming between the two. It wasn’t off the table however as he deeply respected the other boys strength.
