Nano Gōka's Genin Exams

Nano waits anxiously outside of the doorway to what would determine his future. After approximately ten minutes Nano heard his name being called to step into the room. Quickly standing up and entering the room, he was greeted by the sight of a boy around 4 years older than him sitting at the desk, looking as if he wanted to be anywhere but here. 

On the blackboard behind the proctor, the instructions for the test were written. The instructions were 'Perform the clone jutsu and the transformation jutsu'. Seemed fairly simple. Those were the first two techniques he had learnt and he was confident he could execute them flawlessly. All he had to do was perform exactly the same way he had been doing in training. He had never failed in these two techniques since the time he had learnt them. As long as he didn't stuff up, he had this in the bag. He hoped so anyway.

Slowly walking closer to the proctor, he began speaking. "My name is Nano Gōka and firstly I will be demonstrating the clone jutsu, otherwise known as the bunshin. The clone jutsu is used to confuse enemies who have little to no training with chakra. The reason it only succeeds against foes with little chakra training is due to the fact that the clones are intangible, do not leave shadows and do not leave a mark against the environment, for example footprints. All of this I am sure you already know."

"I will now perform the clone jutsu." Carefully positioning himself in his stance, he made sure that he was facing the proctor so that they could see his handsigns. Ram, snake, tiger. Nano performed the three handsigns whilst pushing his chakra into the air to create the clone, making sure he didn't push too little or too much. Sighing in relief, Nano saw that there was no puff of smoke and the clone was an exact replica of himself.

"And that, was the clone jutsu, otherwise known as the bunshin." Nano nervously looked for some sign of approval from the proctor but all he found was a stoic face. He hoped that was normal, in a world such as this one needed to be able to block out all emotions when it proved necessary. Nano stepped forward once again and began to announce his next technique.

"Secondly, I will perform the transformation jutsu. The transformation jutsu, otherwise known as the henge is used to transform the user's look into whatever he or she desires. The transformation jutsu is said to be one of the harder E rank jutsu due to the fact that once you begin the jutsu, you must continue to apply chakra the entire time whilst also continuing to focus on the appearance you wish to take on."

"I will now perform the transformation jutsu." Nano stepped back and hopped swiftly into his stance. He then visualised his target. He would change into the proctor, maybe he'd get extra points or something of the sort. Dog, boar, ram. Making sure there was no puff of smoke by not channeling excess amounts of chakra, Nano transformed into an exact replica. He spun around, making sure the proctor could inspect his transformation. He kept this up for another couple minutes to prove that he could handle the strain of maintaining the jutsu for fairly long periods of time. 

Nano looked up to his proctor to see him scribbling down some notes. Nano was tempted to sneak a look at the notes but restrained himself, knowing it would ruin his scores if he was caught. He looked for a sign of approval on the proctor's face but it didn't show anything. No nods, no grins, not even any blinks. Not that blinking would give anything away but seriously, he didn't blink!

Nano stepped back and repeated his name for the proctor. "Nano Gōka." He went back outside to wait for his results. He could feel his heart beating out of his chest and he was tapping his foot so fast he swore he saw smoke coming out of the wooden floor. If he didn't make the cut, he would have to go through the academy again and he couldn't handle another week of academy, much less a whole term.

Luckily there weren't many people taking the exams so the award ceremony came fast. After 10 agonising minutes of waiting in line to see if he had made Genin, his name was called out. He stepped up to the stage and looked at all of the shiny new headbands waiting to be given out to the new shinobi. He stepped up to the proctor who was reading out the results and giving out the headbands. Nano was sweating like crazy by now and all he could think about was how he couldn't stand more time in the academy.

"Nano Goka..." Shiro repeats the student's name while writing it down in pen on a form meant to record the assessment and its result, pass or fail. His next words are spoken to Nano directly and are said bluntly. "You know what to show me."

Shiro watches through both jutsu, believing that something in this body may please him. At this point, the ninja of Hoshi have a stained name in Shiro's mind. The next generation of this village's defensive forces are being developed now, just before his eyes. Perhaps by watching intently, Shiro may see a glimpse of infallible character. Through the demonstration though, Shiro can see nothing, blinded by his cheerless self.

"He seems to know what he's doing well enough... my glasses aren't that big..." Shiro thinks, checking the body labeled "pass" on the form. He sighs, lifting the sheet and placing it down on a pile of papers with the same information listed. To let the student know he is free to leave, Shiro twiddles his pen and looks up at Nano. "Leave, let the next student in."

Before the next boy or girl enters the classroom, Shiro turns once more towards the windows to his right, thinking fervently about what he might do in the next few hours. "...Lunch."
