Shopping and Designing [Solo][No Kill, Private]
Fri Feb 10, 2017 11:24 pm
Ayame had gone far out of her way to get some pleasant materials fit for a Queen. Ayame used to make her own toys and clothes before she became a ninja, so craftsmanship was one of her strong points. She had seen the vendors of suna and different raw materials in a plethora of shops. Eventually she decided on a beautiful black leather, very soft, yet very strong. The shop keep said that it was from a certain species of cow whose hide reacts with It was perfect! So she got about a meter of that material.
After that Ayame continued on to a weaponsmith and inquired about different metal types. Gold was heavy, expensive and much too soft, and Gold Alloys were still out of her budget. Gold plating wasn’t though. As she looked at other metals, one seemed to catch her eye. Titanium. It was strong, durable, and lightweight. If properly treated it could have coats of other metals on top of it. It would be perfect and definitely stronger than gold, yet it could look like gold.
With that, Ayame requested Eight 3-inch long curved blades to be made, like claws. Ayame drew a design of the claw on paper and told the weaponsmith to make them as durable as he could with a sharpness of 70.
After that, Ayame realized that, besides the gold-colored studs and buckles, she would need some sort of jewel or gemstone to infuse extra power into the gloves as well as look beautiful.
To stay with the yellow and black color scheme she thought of a couple different stones she could use. The first that came to mind was Imperial Topaz. Imperial Topaz was a beautiful golden color and was a pretty hard gemstone. Topaz were expensive though, and not as good of a conduit as Quartz and Quartz types were.
Smoky Citrine looked absolutely beautiful against the dark leather and both Citrine and Smoky Quartz were types of Quartz. Not only would a pair of these work well as energy conduits, they would also not need energetic cleansing nor recharging; not to mention all the metaphysical benefits they could help with.
Ayame got a flat pair of those as well.
To be honest, Ayame was a very crafty girl. She loved to make her own toys when she was little, and even made her own clothes back then and even now, so she knew plenty about tailoring. However, this would be the first time she attempted to make something for someone else, therefore she knew she needed to make sure they were absolutely perfect.
So first was to work the leather in with oil and make it soft. Once that was done, she could easily follow the pattern she made for queen’s hands. Cutting that was very simple given she could use chakra scalpel at the hotel room to get the shapes and the strips right.
And that’s precisely what she did. Once that was done, she would take a break for the night and draw out her designs. The blades were simply designed so she could pick them up tomorrow or the day after.
Once Ayame got up the next day, she had realized that she had fallen asleep on her sketches, and good lord she hadn’t gotten very far with ANYTHING. How was she going to make this work?
She drew on scrap of paper after scrap of paper, ideas wild within her head, coming up with a multitude of designs.past the mere shape and hand size of the gloves, everything from design to armor features and what materials to use for the padding. How would she do this? She needed some boar wool for optimal comfort, but did they have wooly boars in Suna? Would camel-hide work as well as boar wool like what she used to make her blankets out of?
Ayame kept scribbling frantically knowing she didn’t have much time left at all until the exams. Hmmm… how would the design flow without getting too clunky?
Eventually she hit an artist’s block, unable to come up with any more designs, so she had to sift through them, eventually tossing most of them into the trash, finally deciding on her final look.
Now she just had to set up the chakra string mechanism before she could begin sewing.
Eventually after all that work, she would run back to the market place and price different materials, deciding on imported (to suna) wooly boar wool for the padding inside.
And with that the sun set on the remainder of the day, Ayame cursing to herself that she had barely gotten a side of one of the gloves stitched together. She wanted to take her time to prevent any mistakes she might make. Perhaps the gloves wouldn’t be done in time for the exams tomorrow.
