The moon beamed slightly through cracks in the darkened sky, illuminating the dark roads and alleyways, for a dark place Kiri was still full of life. There was a lot going on, especially after new blood spills on to Kiri, to celebrate the execution of a traitor. To many outsiders this would seem weird in a sense, but in Kiri when blood is spilled it should be celebrated instead of mourned. Or maybe just tend to get their mind off of what had just happened. Though there were still some native that didn’t partake in such things, many others did. As such the Genin of the village we’re sent out to patrol the streets, to keep the excitement down to acceptable levels, and not too out of hand.

Mors was dressed in usual clothing blending with the shadows he passed. Being a Genin he was scheduled to patrol for the misty night. He had not witnessed much besides a few drunken squabbles, couple of pickpockets, vagrants and the such. Nothing out of the ordinary, pretty much a basic night for the most part. The village ran off of the fear and respect it had for its leader and his ways . For this fact, the humans didn’t do much to cause disharmony. So Mors continued on hoping the night would have some form of excitement whether it was meeting new faces or stopping the crazy, he did not know.

Wakes. In a culture where battle and bloodshed are celebrated with incredible zeal it should be unsurprising of the persistent festivities surrounding deaths. Someone would consider the events as macabre rituals with an almost cult like following but not all in kiri view the celebrations as focused on the kill itself. It's true there are those out celebrating the kill for the sake of the kill, while others view it as a celebration of life, other wakes are to celebrate the heroes of kiri after they pass, with the execution of a traitor we are to celebrate the strengthening of kiri by cutting away the inner rot, the severing of a gangrenous limb before it corrupts the body. And this, in turn, strengthens the patriotism of kiri under the leadership of our Mizukage.

Jinzu himself can understand the various views of the inter political groups of kiri. But he personally couldn't care less for the ordeals, the fervor around murder has seemed, excessive to him. While he appreciates a strong village, and occasionally enjoys going out and enjoying the festivities, he isn't there to drink to the slaying of our enemies.

Unfortunately he's not there to drink and eat and be merry, he's there on the job, his rank was tasked to patrol the streets and keep the rabble down to a minimum. Jinzu is dressed in a dark hued men's kimono, mostly black with accents of blue, as this is a celebration he won't stick out with his ninja gear concealed under it. He stuck to the edges though, keeping out of most people's attention as he hid in plain sight. Other than a handful of drunks getting in disagreements over nothing and a few rowdy patrons here and there his night was being mostly uneventful. Jinzu would idly walk down this latest pathway, keeping an eye out on the crowds he moved around and the stalls on the edges for anything interesting.

The crowds of people did not dwindle, nor did they see that they were being, Mors had stopped several wannabe thugs from robbing one of the street vendors, in plain sight. People get some drinks in them and get bold, only to be knocked back down to reality. Due to the circumstances, Animae had given them a pass, as a sort of gesture of good will. Though his face smiled, his eyes struck daggers into the three souls that were foiled in their attempt of robbery. Now go! And don’t let me see you out again, for the next time it will not be so nice.”
The smile never left the Genin’s face but the words were said in a stern, light threatening manner. He was hoping the group would have put up more of a fight, or at least went against him in some sense. Making his night more exciting than the uneventfulness that it was proving to be, they did not though, turning high tail away like a scared pack of dogs.So much for that, the thought had passed through Mor’s mind, guess I should continue my patrol.

He was beginning to think he was the only Genin on patrol, for he had seen none and had been on his duties for a while. Blending with the crowds, pretending to be a bystander, and even just strolling giving off a false sense of who he was, for the people did not need to know the truth. Just as he turns the corner of a building, he finally saw one of his fellow shinobi, dressed in a dark kimono but off to side enough to stay hidden from the naked eye but be seen by skilled eyes.  The being was walking towards him, he had not met very many, if any, of the village’s shinobi. This was his first chance to meet one, so Mors stood at the corner, leaned against the building near the being’s path and waited to see if he’d be acknowledged.

A figure ran across the rooftops of the village, unnoticed by the drunks wandering the streets but undoubtedly seen by any shinobi walking the streets.  A mask over his face and a hood covering his head, all that could be seen of his face was what little white hair poked out and his eyes. Suddenly, the figure spotted what he had been looking for, and dropped into the alleys and streets below, disappearing from sight.

Fenrir had been left with no assigned patrol that night, and had taken it upon himself to find some entertainment.  As such, he had decided to begin following a rather strange looking Genin with a face mask through the streets, intending to approach when the time was right.  He was wanting to find someone to spar with, and the fellow looked crazy, so it just seemed right.  The right time appeared to be when his target came into close proximity with another Genin, one who appeared to be roughly the same age as Fenrir.  Moving to intercept the second Genin as he would pass the first, intent on sparring with the both of them, or at least asking to.   This is a bad idea, we shouldn't be looking for fights with them while they're patrolling.  That was a valid point, but Fenrir had already had this conversation with himself when he decided to follow the first ninja.  But boredom though. That was all it took to persuade Fenrir to go looking for a fight on a night like this, when the village was so alive.  Although, he did have a bit of trouble thinking about what he would offer to persuade the other shinobi.

Jinzu would make idle chatter with a few of the vendors, as his family bakery was a local business he was familiar with a few of them. Nothing too in depth other than how sales were going this night, and complaints about disruptive patrons. He went along his way after making sure things were going well and there weren't any individuals to take care of. Jinzu kept his best smile on his face, greeting people politely as he walked. He’s had plenty of practice in his own customer encounters giving him a perfect bluff to conceal his inner thoughts.

Those inner thoughts including the notice of the other shinobi around him. The first individual he noticed, in part due to his bandage mask and flowing scarf. He had evidently recognized Jinzu and had opted to wait for him at the end of the street as to meet him once approached. An aloof but not necessarily unwanted reaction, Jinzu had yet to make friends or allies among his fellow shinobi so it would be a fortuitous event. The other individual seemed to be approaching him rather than waiting, giving Jinzu the impression he was not with the other. His gait gave him away as a shinobi, one with an objective it seems, and his peculiar white hair made him easier to notice.

Jinzu continued to stroll, not changing his pace with the developments he's seen, as he has no reason to rush himself or run away from the ensuing encounters. Whichever individual he ran into first would receive a warm smile and a soft toned, “Hello, what a beautiful evening, don't you think?” as a greeting.

It was about time the third face had shown himself, but you could only commend the boldness of the third party. Mors had suspected he was being followed but he was focused on his job at the time, but since the party showed himself he could act now. A normal being would suspect that maybe the two away from Animae knew each other, but the body language read none of that. The third coming off as he had something he need accomplished, this was amusing to see. This could only mean the dullness of the night was about to pick up, give some excitement for those around. Both parties were technically approaching the Jashinist, but they would intersect some distance away from Mors.
As such, this was more than likely going to be something you had to be up close and personal with. So, Mors begun to approach the two stopping approximately three meters away from both of them. His trained ears hearing the words of the one that smelled of vanilla, ”It is indeed, there are not many nights like this, should enjoy it while we can. He stayed defensive, for he did not know the two before him, though the one in the kimono did not seem like an aggressive fellow, the one in the mask did and seemed to have a slight unpredictability to him.

Upon arriving and hearing the words of the other two genin, Fenrir would quickly continue into his offer.  "And what better way to enjoy such a beautiful night than to test our skills against each other? After all, we need to fight to improve our skills, and that's our duty to the village, right?"  He was honestly grasping at straws for a reason why they should spar with him, other than just for the fun of it.  That funny masked one looks fun, he might just fight for the hell of it.  While that may be true, he might as well offer up some real incentive for them.  "We could also always add a wager, although it wouldn't be able to be in Ryo, as I'm currently quite broke."  Fenrir was still rather used to talking to himself, and was unsure if he was making any affect on them with his offer, and so would sit silently waiting for their response.  As he did so, he would look the other genin over, getting a feel for their general vibe and appearance.

The third party seemed to be highly interested in Mors. His eyes had focused onto Mors, as that of a hungry child, maybe the guy didn’t realize it, but the eyes did not lie. From the moment he fully approached the two Shinobi, one stayed still almost as lost in the ether, void of all that was going on almost as if his god had forgotten about him for a moment and left him in a paralyzed state. This had confused Animae, but hell there was another in front of him to keep him entertained. So, the Genin wrote it off for the time being, keeping watchful over him in case the being snapped out of its current state.  The other seemed amped to fight, so amped as to over a “wager”. This piqued Mors’ interest as the boy admitted to having no money, so what else did he have to offer.

”A wager? What is it that you have to offer?” He spoke, not really caring either way this being in front of him was going to receive what he wanted in due time. Mors just wanted to hear the incentive for himself. ”Fighting skills are wonderful, but they mean nothing in that of a spar, for either party takes it easier than what would be normal. They think more than they should in a real fight, and for that reason this will not be your conventional spar…” Mors lips took a blood curdling shape of a smile, as he paused for a moment. His face went from the neutral tone he wore, to one of a crazed bloodlust, ”this shall be a fight to the death, as is any fight I am a part of. Survival is all that matters in this world and I should survive far longer than most, so I must help my fellow shinobi, succeed in survival. So, tell me do you fear death?”

The words each as sharp as a well-made dagger, there was no waver in his voice, every word he spoke would ring true. He did not fear death, and he only fights for death. He had to make himself good future prospects to one day give him the sweetest gift. Many did not know this though, his immortality was kept a secret for now, only those that had high enough clearance were made aware of it. But those who don’t survive who did not survive with him, should have never been blessed enough to wear the fabulous Kiri colors. Mors stayed vigilant he did not trust those around him, especially with the not knowing who they are. How would the newest face react, Mors could only wait to see.

Well, this is looking better already, isn't it?  Fenrir hadn't anticipated that he would actually encounter someone willing to fight to the death, and under most circumstances, he would be quite open to the suggestion.  Currently however, he would need to deny the request, as he was reminded by the offer of a specific fact.  Without changing his expression, he would reply, "I cannot fight you to the death, sadly, as I have duties to the village, and these must come above all else of course.  I am still willing to fight with a wager, and have come up with a suggestion for what we might be wagering."  Hopefully at this point he would have the other genin's attention as well, as this bit would apply to both of them.  While the bloodthirsty glare of the crazy one wasn't exactly great, he didn't appreciate the outer-space look on the other ninjas face. "I would simply suggest that rather than betting in money or lives, we bet favors.  Whoever wins is owed a favor from each loser, anything that won't cause harm to the whole of our wonderful village of course, such as murder or arson."  That last bit was more directed towards the violent one, who seemed to be much more the death-anarchist type than the other.

As he spoke, Fenrir would be reanalyzing the two ninja before him, taking in details that weren't quite as clear earlier.  He mostly made note of the strange state of tall and thin fellow.  Unable to find a reason for it with his eyes alone, he chalked it up to a random bout of insanity, and almost became distracted by one of his own before recalling the one he had been speaking to.  Once his eyes returned to the savage one, Fenrir would quickly finish up his words.  "So, do you accept?  Because I am afraid that if death is the only wager you will agree to, I will need to simply watch you two kill each other.  If he agrees."  Accentuating his last word by turning again to face the zoned-out shinobi, gesturing at him with his hand to draw attention to he-who-will-decide.

To the pleasure of Jinzu it had seemed that his new compatriot was actually willing to strike up a conversation on what was so far such a dreadfully boring night. Before he was able to respond in turn the third party had spoken up without so much of a greeting, and to start to bring about terms for a sparring match. He was perplexed by the audacity of such a request at the time that he was unable to respond, so he was left standing there silently when the masked individual wagered not ryo or gear but his life, a battle to the death instead of a battle to the bottom of a coin purse.

To hell with the concept of bloody Kiri being a cruel stereotype, here was a person that embodied those stereotypes more fully than most others. To suggest a fight to the death after such a bare minimum of word exchange, it was nearly appalling to Jinzu. Though something at the back of his mind was tickled at the prospect of a battle where he could go all out, not worrying about the health of his sparring partners. Before he could put forth the effort of smothering that rogue thought process within him, his new white haired acquaintance spoke up. Showing that he’d prefer to wager servitude than his life, Jinzu was partially relieved and partially disappointed at that counter proposal.

Seeing as he hadn’t spoken up  in a while and was beginning to gather weird looks from the other two, which was a bit more insulting coming from the bloodthirsty one, he decided to speak up himself. “Well, as enticing as it is to fight to the bloody end and meet my maker, I have future plans I’d like to keep. So if a fight to the death can be postponed I will take the offer of favors.” His smile would turn a bit sharper as he considered fighting.

It was unpleasant to start battling his fellow genin before actually meeting them, and on a day of celebration no less, it was distasteful to say the least. But on the other hand, training was always welcome with him, he was always wanting to hone his skills. Before the others could infer he would add, “But before anyone makes any other decisions, I would like to propose we introduce ourselves. I’ll go first as it is my idea.” With a quick and polite bow Jinzu would say, “I am Jinzu, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
