Tadashi's Genin Exam

3 weeks have passed, it was a rather bright and sunny morning. Tadashi was at the doorstep of the Academy. It was time for him to get acknowledged for the student he was. His body was aching from how early he had to wake up, but also his stomach was swirling like it was washing machine turned on to overdrive. He was extremely nervous too, he had to come face to face with his fear to fail his exam. The door slowly creaked open, which created a unsightly noise. He sat down to his seat, waiting for a Procter to examine him.

A bulky, muscular man wearing a Chuunin vest and black ninja pants was currently making a mad dash for the academy, having woken up late and falling behind on his day. He was supposed to be proctoring genin exams this morning, however, the young dark haired shinobi felt as if the students might have left already due to his tardiness. The sky was dotted with grey rain clouds as he ran, hoping the storm would come to pass after he got inside the safety of the school. The man, who went by the name John, could not bear to stand the thought of having been late and drenched by rain. It would completely ruin his otherwise perfectly fine morning.

Luckily as he hurriedly slid the classroom doors opened he heard chattering and saw the students still sitting in their desks, awaiting his arrival. John cleared his throat, composing himself even more so than he was before, and took large strides to cross the room within seconds. He laid an official looking notebook on the desk and pulled the chair out, taking his seat as normally as one who just ran over a mile could.

He began right away, starting from alphabetical order, passing and failing the students as he saw fit. Many of them disappointed him, which may be due to his harsh grading style. Yet that never stopped him, always teaching the same way. The students were a blur as they each went up and demonstrated for him, that is until he reached a young man named Tadashi Namikaze. What a unique name he had, one John had never heard before. He shrugged his shoulders, thinking maybe it was a new clan starting up in Konohagakure.

“Tadashi Namikaze.” John started, his voice booming throughout the small room, “Please come down to the front of the classroom and perform both the Transformation and Clone techniques. Afterwards please describe the reason’s a shinobi might want to use those jutsu. Lastly, please tell me what the Will of Fire means to you.”

"Tadashi Namikaze.” John started, his voice booming throughout the small room, “Please come down to the front of the classroom and perform both the Transformation and Clone techniques. Afterwards please describe the reason’s a shinobi might want to use those jutsu. Lastly, please tell me what the Will of Fire means to you.”
Tadashi glanced at John, feeling intimdated by his bellowing voice, and physique, as he shakily stood up his knees feeling like jelly on ice shakes. He fearingly walked towards the Chunnin as the boy nearly tripped on John, but caught himself at the last moment. He could remember  his family's words that, "You shouldn't be nervous, don't look directly at the Procter", but he knew those words were just words of confidence and they were just patronizing him.




Tadashi could remember his brother Raiu in his mind like it was just yesterday,       "Remember that you shouldn't exert all of your Chakra or little to none Chakra for Clone Jutsu, if you do then your clone will be excessively bloated or pretty much anorexic.  Tadashi  took a soothing breath. Ram>Snake>Tiger, he performed the Hand Signs instantly as he poured his chakra into the Jutsu. "Clone Jutsu!" In a puff of smoke, a replica of Tadashi emerged from the fading smoke. "The Clone Jutsu is an non-elemental E-Rank Jutsu which creates 1 or more clones of yourself. It is mainly used for disversions or distractions. It cannot have a mind of its own, and it cannot damage the target of the Jutsu." Tadashi never took his eyes off of John as he merely stared at Tadashi which created a more tense atmosphere. "Damn it, it didn't impress him! What am I supposed to now? I put a lot of effort into that Jutsu!"

The student was feeling worried and nervous because of the sudden silence in the classroom as if the attention was all directed towards him. I'm not going to be the weakest person in the Village anymore, I'm not a pushover anymore, and not going to fail anymore! Tadashi barely managed to smirk which weirdly boosted his overall confidence in himself. He could hear his Dad's words in the back of his head, "Scan the target of the Transformation Technique while taking mental notes of their facial features. Channel your Chakra around your body, then release the technique at full force. That will surely impress your teacher." He scanned John's facial features for a few moments. Dog>Boar>Ram, Tadashi weaved the Hand Signs in rapid succession which impressed the the Chunnin for only a few seconds. His chakra spreaded wildly around his radius, which surprised everyone in the classroom. "Transformation Technique!" The student used every bit of his Chakra to transform himself into John in the midst of the puffy smoke. "The Transformation Technique is a Jutsu that allows the user to transform into anything the user thinks of. Because of this, it is known to be one of the harder non-elemental E-Rank Jutsus because the user must constantly input Chakra while maintaining this form. It is also used to gather intelligence from other people especially during war times.


Tadashi was relieved that the Exam was almost over, but this is the defining moment in all of the Exam. He took a deep breath as he passionately explained, "The Will Of Fire is the code that all Konoha Ninja must follow. It means to protect the innocent when others cannot, to have determination in your heart that will never waver as it shines brilliantly. We shall protect the Village at all times with the risk of us dying with no displeasure or resentment to Konoha. The Will Of Fire is starting to waver in these times because of constant conflict, and wars. We just through the Will Of Fire term like it's nothing, and as times go by we're forgeting what the First Hokage embodies in. To protect the village, and to protect the innocent and children at all costs. That is what the Will Of Fire is, and that is why I want to be the strongest Ninja of all time. To prove myself to the world, and to show others that the Will Of Fire will keep on burning forever."


Tadashi hoped he repersented the Will Of Fire, and the Namikaze Clan correctly. His head is starting to hurt a little bit, but it was all worth it, showing people what he can do, and to show people that he isn't some weak boy.

The young Namikaze nervously made his way to the front of the room, his legs shaking and almost causing him to fall. The Chuunin was about to say something when the boy took a breath to calm his nerves and began moving his fingers to create the hand seals for the Clone technique. With the familiar white puff of smoke signaling the completion of the technique, John took note of the clone standing beside Tadashi. He silently gazed upon the clone, examining it while the boy described what the clone technique was used for. His description was relatively good for an academy student, and the boy grasped the essential knowledge of the jutsu enough that John didn’t feel the need to correct him.

A smirk edged onto the older man’s face as he analyzed the Academy student and could feel he was distressed by the lack of emotion the Chuunin exposed to him. John actually didn’t mind proctoring the exams, he found it enjoyable to make them worry. Some kids don’t mind his gruff and quiet behavior, but others found it nerve wracking and terrifying. Those were the kids he enjoyed scaring the most. If they could survive not peeing their pants as he silently “judged them”, then they would grow up to be fine shinobi of the Hidden Leaf village.

What helped John even more was the eerie silence the rest of the students took, their dumbstruck faces of awe at the boy in front of them and his ability to perform the techniques. If John had allowed himself to, he would have snorted at the lot. This kid was nothing to be amazed by, he performed the techniques as any other student who didn’t fail had.

Yet the kid did not break down in front of him. Instead, Tadashi grew a smirk across his face must like the one John had released moments ago. He didn’t know why the silence made the boy confident, but he was intrigued to see if this fake boost of confidence would do him any good.

Tadashi’s eyes scanned his face, and John knew all too well what he was about to do next. Some students used their proctor as their transformation technique copy, others used their parents or grandparents. Then the boy quickly, in rapid fire, weaved the hand signs for the aforementioned jutsu. John noted how determined the child was to impress him, speeding up his hands in such an attempt. It only brought about the same smirk as before, his eyes lacking any traces of emotion besides indifference. Fast hands and transforming into himself would not be enough to elicit a true reaction from this stone cold Chuunin.

The exam was almost complete, as Tadashi finished his quick explanation for the technique and moved on to the more important question he had asked him. The Will of Fire, the basis for all shinobi in Konohagakure, created centuries before any of them were born but still shining as brilliantly as they day it came into fruition. John nodded his head slightly as the boy spoke, proud that a few runts in the village knew what every shinobi should honor as their ninja way. Despite the kid not having courage at the beginning, he ended his exam on a high note, and for that, John would pass him.

John silently opened the drawn to the desk, pulling out a sleek Konoha Headband, and offered it to Tadashi with his hand outstretched, “This is proof you have passed the Konohagakure Genin exam. Wear this headband with pride and honor. Always remember what the Will of Fire means to you. Now you may leave the room as a full fledged shinobi of the Hidden Leaf Village.” He spoke swiftly, his expression as monotone as ever, but a fire danced behind his eyes, approval of the young now Genin boy.

If Tadashi said any words of gratitude to the Chuunin, John would acknowledge them with a simple nod of his head, before calling the next student down to the front to proctor their exam. He hoped the rest of the exams would go as smoothly as Tadashi’s had, otherwise today would be a very long day.

Tadashi's body what was before swirling in fear was now easing up as John stated these words, "This is proof you have passed the Konohagakure Genin exam. Wear this headband with pride and honor. Always remember what the Will of Fire means to you. Now you may leave the room as a full fledged shinobi of the Hidden Leaf Village.” Tadashi wanted to scream at the top of his lungs at how happy he was as he instantly accepted the headband that was now his to wear. The young Namikaze bowed towards John, "Thank you John-Sensei, I will wear it with all of my pride representing Konoha." Tadashi smiled as he turned his way to the classroom. For a few moments their was silence, but only to be replaced by roaring clapping as all of the students, and Proctors clapped for Tadashi. It was a shocking change for him to actually be respected by the village, but it was one he can get down with. The moment he closed the door of the classroom he yelled to the sky with all of his might, "YES!!!!!!"
