Final trial take 2
Sun Nov 05, 2017 7:15 pm
Link to mission
The sun was nearly high over head, with hardly any shade to be found, Renji would be sitting up on a tree branch a few meters above the ground. Using the tree top for shade, Renji would be sitting there deep in thought, a quizzical look about his face. Having passed his first two trials towards becoming a chuunin, Renji only had one more trial left before he would be allowed to begin his chuunin exams. However, he knew that this would certainly be his most challenging trial yet.
Having received the letter in the mail earlier today, Renji knew that it was only a matter of about an hour before he would be taking part in his combat trial. Usually when fighting or sparing Renji would not be as nervous or worried. However knowing that this sparring match in particular had so much riding on it, renji would be a little on edge and stressed out. While he is sitting up in the tree Renji would notice that the sun was almost overhead. Remembering that his exam was at noon, Renji would jump down from the tree and heads in the direction of the academy as that’s where the letter had specified for him to meet at.
As he is making the short walk towards the ninja academy, Renji would pull from his left lower jacket pocket the letter he had gotten from the mission board earlier in the day regarding his third and final trial. He had read over it quite a few times already today, but with the test set to take place shortly, Renji wanted to read it one last time to make sure that he had not misread anything out of nervousness the previous ten times he had read it. With the letter unfolded in his hands, Renji would slow his pace a bit and reads the content of the letter to himself.
“Renji,
You have shown you can infiltrate an objective. And if ever caught in a compromising position, you have shown your competency with your jutsu precision. But what happens when jutsu won’t cut it, and you find yourself in a situation where you have to defend yourself. This trial will be testing your hand to hand combat as such, no ninjutsu genjutsu funijutsu, or any other techniques along those lines. This is a test of your skills at hand to hand combat, we want to see that if you have to, you can properly defend yourself. If you pass this trial, you will have the permission of this board to take part in the next chuunin exams. You are to meet at the academy room 112c at noon today.”
As he is coming up on the ninja academy, Renji would look around and sees all of the academy students walking around and going about there day to day coming and going through the lawn / grassy area in front of the academy. Seeing this would remind Renji of his own academy days just a few short months back, and how he has come so far. Seeing as he had about a half hour to kill before noon, Renji decides to walk about the lawn and perhaps sit in on a class or two, remembering that they usually held class outdoors this time of year.
Renji would follow a winding path that leads off to the back left of the main academy building. The path would come to a rather decent sized grassy area where a class was currently being held. Not wanting to disturb the class, Renji would creep along the other side of the bushes from the class still he came up on a tree that had a branch overhanging the class. Renji quickly climbs the tree and sits down to take in some of the lesson that the instructor was giving. Looking at the scene before him, Renji would see about 20 – 30 students all sitting cross legged on the ground the class would be split down the middle half the kids on one side half on the other and in the middle would be a path that lead to a rather oversized dry erase board that the instructor was standing in front of.
With in a few minutes of being up there, Renji would see that this was an advanced academy class, and they were currently working on some genin rank taijutsu techniques. Just his luck Renji would say as he hears the instructor say “Next we are going to go over the taijutsu technique, Chain fist.” Seeing as he had never heard of this technique, Renji would move closer to the edge so that he could clearly hear the instructions for this technique. Once the instructor was done speaking he would then show the kids how the jutsu was supposed to look. Seeing this Renji would attempt to make the same circular motion with his hands as he had just seen the instructor doing.
Renji would hang around for a bit after learning the technique, despite already knowing the rest of the techniques that the instructor was showing the class below him. A few minutes would pass before The students would finally rise from their seated position, at the same time, the instructor would be erasing the board. Watching as the grassy area slow emptied out, Renji would remember that the classes at the academy ended ten minutes before noon. Once the final kid had left, and the instructor was starting to wheel the dry erase board back inside, Renji would jump down from his perch up in the tree that he had been in, and begins to make his walk back around to the front of the academy.
As he is coming to the front of the academy’s main building, Renji would stop for a quick second then takes a quick inhale and exhale before opening the door and walking into the reception area .
Once he was inside the building Renji would walk up to the receptionist that was sitting at the front desk. Not knowing where to go as he had never heard of room 112c he would call out to the receptionist in an attempt to get there attention. A man With his head buried deep in a pile of books would raise up his head from the book, a tired look would be on his face. He would not say anything to Renji, instead the mans tired glaze would raise up to the headband that was tied around Renji’s head. Once he saw this, the receptionist would return his head back to his book work. As he does so he would point a finger in the direction of a hallway that was off to the left of the table without saying a word the entire time.
Seeing that he was not going to get anymore information out of the receptionist Renji would shrug his shoulders and walk off in the direction of the hallway the receptionist had pointed in. Once he got to the entrance to the hallway Renji would see that this rather short hallway that he was now standing in front of would only lead to a staircase at the other end that would lead 2 flights down. Quickly running down the two flights of stairs, Renji would see in front of him a dimly lit hallway with no windows. The hallway would be a little bit bigger then the previous one he had been in. At the end of the hallway was a large old wooden door. Taking in his first breath since making it down stairs, Renji’s nose would be assaulted by an awful foreign smell, the smell was so bad that it causes Renji to dry heave. Being underground and having no windows for circulation, the hallway would give off a strong odor only comparable to a hockey equipment bag.
After recovering from nearly throwing up in his mouth, Renji would begin to make his way through the hallway, there was not much to see here. Just 2 walls a floor a ceiling, and that old wooden door. As he is half way through the hallway Renji would look up at the top to ensure that the receptionist had given him the right place. When he looks up Renji would see at the top of the door “1_2c”. Renji would look around the room in a confused daze trying to figure out if this was the right place. What if he walked in and something wild and crazy was going down in there, his imagination would run wild for a second as he begins to let his nervousness for the test become a mini panic attack.
Just as Renji is about to begin panicking, his eyes would come across what appears to be a “1” on the ground not to far away from the door. Picking it up, Renji would hold it up in a way that when he closed one eyes and peered at the sign over the door, the “1” would be in place of the space in “1_2c.” looking at it this way, it seemed as if the Missing number was indeed this “1” that Renji had found. He would look around real quickly to ensure that there was not any other numbers on the floor. Once he was sure, Renji would walk up to the door and takes a deep breath before reaching out both arms.
With no handle on the door face, Renji would assume he had to push the door, and attempts to meagerly push the door in. To which his arms would collapse in before he was leaning face up against the door “shoulda figured” Renji would say in response to realizing just how heavy this door in front of him was. Taking a few steps back, Renji would line up to take another shot at the door this time adding some speed and muscle behind his attempt. As Renji is about to come in contact with the door maybe an inch or two away, the door would magically swing open and Renji would go tumbling a few feet inside of the room landing on his butt. Not wanting to be taken by surprise, Renji would quickly jump up to his feet, and as he does so the door would slam behind him locking as it does so.
Once the door was locked, Renji would jump back and quickly presses his back against the door behind him. As he is doing this he would watch as the lights began to slowly flicker on, as if someone was methodically turning on a living room light dimmer. As the lights where coming on, Renji could see that he was in a rather decent sized room, about 5 X 5 meters. The room, like the hallway before it, had no windows and carried the same awful smell of sweaty hockey bags. Looking around the room Renji would also see a couple of heavy bags hanging from the ceiling in the corners of the room. As the lights were still working their was on, Renji would only be able to see the two heavy bags (1 per corner) that where on his side of the room. As the lights brightened a bit more, Renji could see that covering the floor wall to wall was a dojo mat and on the wall was a light blue padding. Still as the lights would brighten a bit more Renji would begin to see the shadow of a person. From his angle Renji would see the head of the shadow and with his eyes he would follow the shadow back to a pair of legs standing on the opposite side of the room from him. All of this would happen over the course of a few seconds.
Upon seeing the shadow, Renji would assume this person to be his opponent for his final trial. He would assume a fighting stance, just in case the person did not want to wait until the lights were fully on to launch an attack. Renji would prepare to activate his byakugan if the person on the other side of the room was to move before the lights had fully come one. Finally, the time had come, Renji was prepared for the sparing session of his life.
The boy was now fully ready to begin his last trial, or at least he would hope so

Komon stood concealed in the dark of an empty room waiting on the boy he was supposed to be fighting. As a jounin he now shared the responsiblity that Youka and Senshi had covered in the past, ensuring that the village gennin were strong enough to advance to the next stage of their training and assume the roll of chuunin. One of these tests was a sparring match, to test the user’s physical capabilities. As a hyuuga, Komon was specifically selected from the ranks of kumogakures jounin to proctor this exam.
A few moments would pass before light peered through the doorway to the room and the familiar face of Renji Hyuuga made itself known to him. “It’s good to see you again Renji, I’m glad you made it back from hoshi in one shape” His words where genuine, but there was a hint of sorrow in his voice as he realized he’d be fighting a friend. It would bring him no joy to hurt this boy, but it was his duty to do so if capable.
“I hope you’re ready for what’s to come” He’d say before his byakugan flickered and he got into the typical hyuuga taijutsu stance. Knees bent, one arm extended forward with the palm facing vertical to the ground. The other tucked near his ribs. As he did so he’d think back to his own exam, and the dislocated arms that had come with it, he’d fought youka. Renji had lucked out in the Hyuugas eyes.
(Idk if you're still active, if you don't respond within a week or so I'll just delete this response)

As the lights finished coming on, Renji could finally make out the top half of the figure that was standing across the room from him. It was none other then Komon Hyuga, the ninja that lead their travel group to hoshi a while back. Renji had not seen Komon since Renji Ran him over in the streets of hoshi’s slums, the thought would cause a smile to run across the young genins face. Komon was the first person from that group that Renji had seen since coming back to Kumo. and he was happy to see that Komon made it back in one piece. Renji would want to ask about the rest of the group that went with them, but judging by the tone in Komon’s voice, Renji knew that this was neither the time nor place for small talk, and would simply reply to Komon saying “it’s good to see you too brother.”
Still in his fighting stance from when he first entered the room, Renji would watch as Komon activates his byakugan and takes up his Hyuuga fighting stance. Standing there, Renji could not help but admire Komon’s fighting stance, it was crisp and their were no openings in his defense. Seeing this would make Renji Bend his knees a bit more and squeeze his hand tightly against his ribs in a poor man’s attempt to replicate Komon’s fighting stance. Once he got that down, as best as he could, Renji would then follow suit and activates his own byakugan making sure to keep his eyes on the shinobi in front of him. As he stands their, Renji would think back to his only other fight/sparing match against another ninja. Thinking back to that fight against Max, Renji remembers how he nearly lost the fight before it even begun by leaping in to quickly. a cold chill runs down the young boys spine as he is reminded of Napa’s cold warning. Surly Renji was not about to make that same mistake this time. Instead Renji would stand his ground and wait to see what Komon was going to do. Though Renji would begin to take a few steps towards his right(speed 10). Renji was going to try to maintain a safe enough distance for the time being.

Komon’s head would nod as renji returned the greeting, staying in his stance and watching as the younger hyuuga did the same. It brought him a bit of pleasure to watch his clans growing roots in this village. Hyuuga in kumogakure were a rarity, and to see one choosing the path of a shinobi was even rarer. He was even more impressed by the hyuuga’s next choice of action, he wouldn’t rush in with a half cocked plan like komon had done years ago in this very room. He’d move with caution and clarity, knowing he was up against a more experienced opponent.
“You’re smarter than I was at your age, I’ll give you that” Komon would say as he approached the boy with an equal speed of 10, but he had no intention of playing the defensive… his role wasn’t to play this fight safe, it was to apply pressure to the metal that was to forge the new kumogakure. If it snapped, the metal was never worthy of its place in the village. If it held, then perhaps it would serve a purpose. The older hyuuga’s left hand, the one that had been tucked into his ribs would burst forward at 100 speed as the right took the former position of the left.
The left hand now extending with force would expel the hyuuga vacuum palm technique, sending a torrent of raw power towards renji’s chest. “But don’t get too comfortable” the attack would have a power and speed of 75, something most chuunin would easily be able to dodge. If the boy hoped to achieve such a rank, it should be something he was capable of evading as well. Given that the room was 5 meters wide in all directions and the two had both been walking towards each other there were probably 3 meters between the two, giving the gennin very little time to respond.

Renji would hear Komon’s words of praise, but would not respond aloud, thinking that he was trying to get inside of Renji’s head or throw him off his game or something, this was a test after all.. Instead Renji would continue to focus on Komon as he inched closer and closer; , knowing that it was just a matter of time before Komon attacked.
Once Komon was about three meters away from Renji, Komon would shoot his arm forward at a lightning fast speed ( or at least faster than Renji had seen a person move before, sending a small sphere like mass of chakra shooting out of his hand aimed straight at Renji. Luckily for Renji he had his byakugan activated this whole time and would see the sphere as it leaves Komon’s hand, and is able to track it from the moment it starts moving towards him.
While he was able to track the attack with his eyes, dodging it proved to be a more difficult task. Renji would slide his back foot in behind his front foot, pulling back his left shoulder back at the same time and starts to pivot on his front foot, causing his body to rotate(all of this would happen at a speed of 85. Doing this allows Renji to barely escape out of the path of this deadly projectile. As the attack flares past, Renji would feel a stream of heat or some sort coming off from the sphere “wooo, that could have been bad, good thing I did not rush in. Thanks again Napa.” Renji would think to himself as he watches through his byakugan as the projectile goes darting into the back of the padded door; giving off a loud audible “BANG!” as it makes contact with the wall.
Seeing that Komon was the fastest person Renji had ever fought against, he knew that if he stood any chance in this fight he was going to have to slow Komon down a bit. As He was finishing his rotation, Renji would lift his back leg from the ground with a speed of 85, and as soon as his leg was off the ground Renji would launch a spinning back kick best known as the leaf strong wind, aimed right at the back of Komon’s lead leg in hopes of slowing down the speedy jounin. The kick would have a speed of 135 and a power of 85.

The spinning dodge was a good technique for a hyuuga, with their 360 degree vision they could afford to expose their back without generating a blind side. Which is why their clan was so famous for their taijutsu. Good, he’s smart Komon would think to himself as he charged forward towards the younger hyuuga. While he could afford to expose his back the spin in and of itself required renji to stop his advancement, and presented an opening for Komon to close the distance. Moving at 55 speed as per momentum rules Komon and renji would be less than a meter apart by the time Renji launched his spinning kick.
A loud bang would go off as the aspiring gennin began his assault, thanks to commons vacuum palm. “Let’s see how you do in close range” Komon would say as renji began to attack, noting the speed and power at which he was advancing. To be honest, the kid was probably already more proficient in taijutsu than Komon himself, the only factor separating them was experience, and Komon planned to use that to his advantage.
To greet the incoming hyuuga kick Komon would redirect the already extended palm that had been used to project vacuum palm and send it crashing down at 130 speed and 70 strength. It wouldn’t be enough to completely stop the kick, but the purpose was not to do so. Instead it was to direct the 40 power tenketsu needle into renji hyuuga’s body, sapping him of 20 chakra if it managed to land. Of course this would be visible to renji, as he was a hyuuga and he could always stop his kick to avoid it.
If the both of them continued on the path they were going, both would leave it with an injured leg.

Renji probably should have stopped his leg mid kick, through his byakugan, he could clearly see the chakra flaring up around Komon’s fingers. He was clearly gearing up to use his Tenketsu needle on Renji’s leg. Being a member of the hyuga clan, Renji had learned this same technique, and knew just what it was capable of doing. But still, Renji was a kumo ninja, and Kumo ninja did not know the meaning of the words ‘retreat’ or ‘back down’, if this had not been clear to Renji before, It was made clear to him that day at the hoshi gates when Komon stared all of those hoshi nin in the face and did not wavier or take a single step back. How could Renji bare witness to that, and then back down against Komon, Renji wanted to be a shinobi like Komon, and he was not about to back down himself… though he probably should have pulled back his kick.
As Komon’s left arm was coming down to greet Renji’s left leg, Renji would notice through his byakugan eyes the huge crater size opening that was left from Komon’s arm pit down to his hip. By extending his arm, Komon had left his entire left midsection exposed, and Renji planed on taking full advantage of this opening.
As Komon’s arm was just about to make contact with Renji’s leg, Renji would squeeze hard at his abdominals and rotates his upper body around so that he could shoot forward his right arm(speed 98, strength 53, aiming for this opening in the elder Hyuga’s defense. There are a lot of vital organs in this part of the body and wanting to maximize his damage Renji would use an open handed palm bottom, a basic Hyuga technique that if landed would cause internal damage in the form of minus 5 chakra and ap.
If the strike landed Renji would push off of Komon’s side and uses the momentum to straighten out his body and would take back up his original fighting stance. Renji would use this brief low in the fight to assess his injury, now that the adrenaline from their exchange was wearing off, Renji could feel the area on his leg where Komon had stabbed throbbing with pain, and he could feel the drain on his chakra network that the move had left. Renji knew that he would not be able to access his full chakra right now but it was a Hand to hand fight.
If everything went the way it was planed, though most things never go as planed, Renji would now be standing at Komon’s 7 o’clock a few feet away from him and in his fighting stance, Renji would be bouncing side to side at a speed of 45 Ready incase Komon made a move to attack.

So the hyuuga had decided to carry through with his attack. He was certainly brave, but there were times were bravery didn’t have its place. This was one of them, to allow a man a clear and present attack on yourself and to make no attempt to stop it, that was foolish. And Komon would take advantage of it. As renji stated he didn’t pull back and as Komon’s hand zoomed down to greet the leg, the tenketsu needle would leave its mark as the grey eye’d hyuugas palm gripped around the leg with a strength of 70. The leg would continue to slide for a second as it had 85 strength from his previous attack, and would still hit Komons leg. But once it had, it was left weak, and in Komons grasp.
Giving a wince as he felt the pain of the kick Komon’s right leg, the one that had been kicked would drop to one knee as his right arm continued to grasp onto the gennin’s leg. “Gotcha” He’d say as he saw the boy begin his counter attack too slowly, Komon’s reaction time of 170 gave him plenty of time to track and locate what the boy was trying to do with his 98 speed attack. At the same time he had said gotcha Komon would counter with his left arm the one not holding the hyuuga in place and propel his open palm into renjis exposed chest with 113 speed and 73 strength. It would reach the chest well before Renji’s attack could land, and send the hyuuga flying back as Komon released his grip on renji’s leg less than a fraction of a second before the palm landed.
If all went according to plan, renji should fly back and feel a significant amount of damage in both his leg and chest. (You’re free to RP how much exactly you are injured)

Just as he had initially thought, Renji should have pulled back his kick when he still had the chance to. The pain that he felt from Komons tengenksu needle was intense. Renji could feel as Komon’s chakra entered his own chakra system and caused it to overload; Renji knew that this meant that he would be unable to use certain skills for a limited duration, but, being that he knew this juts as well, Renji would know that with a little bit of time, his chakra system would revert back to normal. but did he have enough time renji would wonder to himself. Renji would grimace as the elder hyuga clasps down on Renjis leg. And to top it all off, through his Byakugan, Renji would see as Komons other arm, that was not holding Renji’s leg, begins to move.
The byakugan, also known as the all seeing eye, for it allows its user complete vision of the battle field. With it the hyuga can see all impending dangers in their area, this allowing them to take both calculated and non calculated risk, in battle.
With his byakugan activated and the fact that his reaction time(155) was well above the movement of both his punch and Komons punch, time would appear to slow down for Renji allowing him to see the battle field from multiple different angles and letting him track the paths of Komons fist.
Through his byakuganed eyes Renji could see that Komons right arm was not moving to block Renjis palm bottom, instead it appeared as though Komon was going to launch a palm bottom of his own, and judging by the speed at which his arm was moving, Renji knew that Komons strike would land well before his unless Renji did something about it. Analyzing the situation, Renji would see that Komon had done very little to close up the gap in his defense, and if Renji could do something about this attack of Komons, then he would be able to exploit the opening, or so he would hope.
As Komons fist got closer and closer, Reno would begin to close his eyes in anticipation of Komons fist making contact with his chest and sending him flying back across the room. It is at this point, when instincts would kind of kick in for Renji. Not knowing what had come over him, Renji would once again. Squeeze at his mid section, this time in an effort to pull his other arm up as fast as he can, aiming his fist for the back of Komons arm in hopes of knocking it off course, and doing some damage to the back of his elbow. Normally This type of sucker punch attack would be aimed for the opponents midsection in an attempt to knock the win out of them, but in this case, Komons arm would be passing by as Reni threw his punch , lucky for Renji.
The punch would have a speed of 125 and a power of 80. If Renji attack was successful, it would do some damage to Komons arm as well as knocks it off course from hitting Renji. Being that Komons arm would be knocked off course, Renjis palm bottom would also be back on his original trajectory and should connect shorty after his sucker punch, that is, if everything went according to plan.
If everything did go according to plan, Renji would use the momentum from his palm bottom to push off from Komon, and straightens out his body, taking back up his original fighting form, Renjis leg would still be extremely sore however from where Komon had grabbed him.

Komon would find himself in a suprising situation, Renji’s instincts had saved him as the boy moved with precision like skill to counter Komon’s counter attack. The hyuuga genins arm would come crashing into his elbow, creating a loud crack. That was Komon’s elbow fracturing. Then Renji’s previous attack would still come through and hit Komon in the rib. All the while sending his palm into komons ribs. This one wasn’t so lucky as to cause any major damage, but he could still feel it.
Ignoring the pain of his fractured elbow Komon would realize he had been taking it to easy on the boy. He was stronger than he appeared, and Komon had underestimated him, he thought he could toy with him. Renji would try to push off of him with the gentle fist palm bottom, but seeing as Komon’s hit had never landed, Komons left arm was still wrapped tightly around his leg, and he’d find himself going nowhere.
As Komon was still on the ground on one knee and renji was standing, Komon would skillfully force renji’s leg between his rib cage and his arm before forcefully rolling his body at his maximum speed of 110 and with 70 strength. In doing so he’d rapidly twist Renji’s leg and dislocate it if the boy did nothing to stop it, a bit of repayment for the fractured elbow.
