Grand Tournament: Tatsuo vs Mors
Tue Dec 05, 2017 2:59 pm
The atmosphere was tense. The conqueror had declared a tournament. One of water and fire. Another mockery of Konohagakure. An attempt to cement their status beneath the new rulers. Tatsuo saw through the ploy. The arrogance of his fellow Genin had caused him to stay out of the combat before. Now he found himself being forcibly dragged into it. There had been no notification on what would happen should one refuse their 'invitation', not that he had seen. The boy wasn't an idiot. He had no intention of giving the man an excuse. Not until his power had grown. That was still some time off. So the boy found himself entering the arena. Walking across the bridge, his gaze moved briefly to the water below before turning his attention to the opposite side of the arena. He entered the inner ring of the arena before his opponent arrived.
With that the boy waited. His Konohagakure headband was gripped loosely in his right hand. Tatsuo had nothing to say. He had no preparations, no plans. So the boy watched, and waited.

The tournament was upon them, it appeared sooner than expected, and Mors was one of its participants. He did not do much in preparation of this tournament, but hopefully that would not be his bane in it. So, Mors stood absently in front of the gates to the arena, waiting for them rise. Showing up to the tournament with what little equipment he had remaining on his person. He was thoughtless, just patiently waiting until it was his time. As the gates would slowly rise, he would snap out of his absentminded state, and begin to make his way into the arena. He’d soon cross the bridge making his way to the inner arena. Seeing his white-haired opponent, who had made it there some time before him. He’d nod his head upon seeing him, as a sign of respect to his opponent, as this was a tournament and Mors was not a complete savage. Since he did not know if the one before him was one that fought from a distance like a coward hiding behind a shield. Or, was of the few who were not afraid to get their hands dirty and zeroed in on their prey.
The nod also signaled that Mors was ready to begin, as there was no need to waste time. He was one who needed to close in on his targets. So, he would continue moving closer, attempting to close the distance between the two. Watching his opponent’s movements, trying to figure out how to go about this. He was not too sure on what he was going to do, at the time, but it was better to just go with the flow of things anyways.

His opponent entered. Tatsuo didn't recognise them. There had been far too many combatants during the invasion for Tatsuo to keep track of all of them. This put him on guard. He didn't know the abilities of his foe. Strengths, weaknesses, all of them were unknown to the boy. Tatsuo had to figure it out quickly. There wasn't much time to spend messing around in these sorts of things. At least that's what he assumed. The first real test for him, his first trial by combat. Tatsuo didn't know how it would end up going.
His foe nodded to him from the other end of the arena. Forty meters away, a decent enough distance between the two. Tatsuo didn't need to worry about any sort of surprise attack from that distance. The nod seemed to signal the start of the bout. The movement of his foe confirmed this. The young boy decided to get a quick gauge of the enemies abilities. As they started in the walk toward him Tatsuo reached into his weapons pouch strapped to his hip. Grasping a kunai in his left hand he threw it over toward the opponent. Aimed to strike into the gut of the boy should nothing prevent it's sailing through the air. It was a straight forward opening move. Maybe it would bait out something, who knew?
Heck maybe it would just win him the fight outright. You never know.

Mors was slacking or so it seemed, felt like more than a week went by before he reacted to the kunai was thrown at him. Followed by nothing else, or that’s how it seemed. Mors thought briefly on what to do in response, in turn, he would match it with a kunai of his own. Reaching behind him, with his right hand, into his own weapon’s pouch, to grab one of the pair that he had left. He threw it to meet with his opponent’s in the air. The stronger kunai would throw the other’s off course and barrel through to the target it was intended for. This little clash would give some insight on the white-haired guy, such as, if he had more oomph behind him than what appeared. But, this would not be enough, Mors would have to get closer, he would need to get a better look and feel for the one before him. He would begin to put a little pep in his step, and start moving at half speed towards his opponent on the other side of the ring.
Mors wasn’t privy to “sanctioned” events, all the ones he had participated in was life or death, which the latter was harder to do given Mors’ curse. But this was something that was for showcasing of your skills and talents, which sadly at this point in his life. He had next to none. So he just had to slowly go with the flow and see how things worked out in the end. Whatever the outcome Mors would try his hardest to not make it easy for his opponent. Who he watched like a predator stalking their prey, ready for almost any act Mr. White-haired could throw at him.
(Kunai=70speed, 65 sharp)

The boy observed the kunai clashing in mid-air. One - his own- was sent off far to the right and into the ground with a clattering sound. The other was the one thrown by the other boy. Weakened by the collision with his own it would fall short soon enough. It was at this time Tatsuo would begin to make his way forward toward the foe. He reached downward mid-stride, picking up the kunai that had dropped short of him by a few meters.
Tatsuo would continue to walk forward toward his foe. Once in range he'd cut to the head of the enemy unless something else caused him to change his actions during that time, which it likely would because who would just let someone walk up and cut to the head? He'd also swing at the head of the guy with his headband.

And thus the boy won his fight with the lamest of moves. The kunai cut the chin of the boy, most likely due to the lack of effort put into it. That didn't matter though. The metalic plate of the headband swung down ontop of the dome of the foe with a crunch.
Instant KO.
Tatsuo then left the arena back the way he had came.
