Federico tries laying the groundwork

The rent payment was about 3 weeks away now, and he thought that he might as well figure out what he would do next. He saw a little mission named, “The Crows Song, Part 1”. It involved this little village off in this place called swamp country. Federico was there a week ago, when he was robbing a merchant who was selling drugs. He never really found much out about this man other than he was big and that he had money. The man never really seemed to figure out what happened, other than he found a large hole in his bag, and all his money gone.

Federico realized that he needed to do one more mission, although he thought that he could probably do it a little bit later. He went to the library to go look at that jutsu encyclopedia to try to learn a new technique. He thought he might want to learn a more advanced jutsu. He looked and saw that the highest ranked techs that were in this book were c ranked. He would proceed to look through the C rank jutsu. He saw one that could help on the first part of mission. It would possibly be useful to infiltrate that village, although it probably would not be too difficult to enter the village by burrowing under the ground.

He decided that first, he should learn by first attempting to go underground. He thought about how he needed to do the technique, he realized that he needed to first figure out how he can soften the ground. If that would not work, he could not possibly try to go underground. He decided that he should try breaking down rocks. He looked around, and eventually found a rock, a small one, and tried to break the rock down. He first tried just shoving the chakra into the rock, but it didn’t seem to do anything. He thought about it, and decided to look for a book that could explain the basics of earth techniques. He went back to the library, and looked in the ninja art section. He eventually found a book called, “The Basics of Earth Jutsu”. It looked like it was reasonably accurately, and decided to read it. He read the book and saw that there was a small bit on basic earth manipulation. He saw this little chapter that showed that the required thing to do was to break down the rocks by imagining blades cutting the rocks apart into little pieces of dirt.

Federico would do that, but he soon realized, that he was making barely any progress, it was going so slowly, that it took about thirty minutes to finally finish cutting the rock apart. After that, Federico looked at the book and saw that it said, “this process should take about 1 minute.” Federico thought, “Well, f..k” He clearly had a lot of work now. He eventually managed to get the time down to 20 minutes. There was clearly more work. He realized he can now imagine a lot of blades trying to cut the rock to pieces. After about an hour of training, he managed to get the time down to 1 and a half minutes. After that, about 2 and a half more hours, Federico hit 1 minute, and eventually decided to try to learn this jutsu now.

He soon realized all the complexities of this technique. He had to figure out how to cut about 1 inch all around himself into the ground. Federico would walk to a clearing, and would proceed to try to cut the ground down so that he could go into the ground. After about an hour, Federico would eventually realize that he was only cutting a very small hole under his feet. He saw that he needed to imagine these blades cutting everything under his feet.

After a lot of cutting, he would soon fall down about knee deep and proceed to get stuck, as he soon realized that he had to imagine cutting more of the rock around his body.

About 2 hours later, Federico would eventually manage to get all the way underground, and soon found that there was all kinds of strange sensations when he was under ground. He had no idea what all this stuff meant. He also realized he needed to figure out how to get out of the ground again. He would attempt to do what he was doing more, but soon found this was not going to work, since he ended up just getting deeper. Federico then managed to find a pole, and he managed to climb his way out of this hole. He would then proceed to go back to the library to find his book to figure out more information on this technique. His new problem was that he could not control his direction, he also forgot to think about how he could get back out of the ground, once in it. He realized that had he not gotten lucky and found a pole, he would have probably have died. He looked, and saw that there was a part about propulsion. The way that this was supposed to happen was apparently by making the rock forming behind you push you in the direction you want to go.

Apparently, this meant that the rock dicing thing was not meant for literally everywhere, just parts of it. This was not a huge change. Federico decided that he should practice this by trying to move upwards in normal ground, and not being under it. He would do this, and would soon realize that this was relatively easy. He seemed to realize that the just had to imagine himself making little columns of rock that would extend and push himself in the direction he was looking to do.

Knowing that, Federico would try again, this time with significantly more success. He would try to go and burrow through the ground, and although he was moving around, he had no idea where he was going. He also was very confused what all these weird sensations were. The only thing he figured out about them, was that they were coming from the surface ground. Eventually getting tired of this, he went back to the surface to take a breather. It was intense all the sounds that would come from the surface of the ground.

Federico would proceed to take a short nap outside. After a couple hours, he would wake up and go and try this technique again. This time, he would make sure that he would tune out all the sensations. He eventually realized that these were footsteps. That gave him a lot of piece of mind, now know what all those feelings were. He would now proceed to go around under the ground and try to figure out where he was going. He decided that he should practice this a bit. After a few minutes of this, a few times coming up for air, he would eventually realize he only figured out how to move up and down. He would use the rock to push himself sideways, and proceed to move right, and the left under the ground.

After that, he soon realized that there was some things he could not go through. One of these things, Federico would crash into sideways, being a concrete foundation of a building. After trying to do this a bunch, he would soon realize that he could not try to burrow through the concrete because of how strong the concrete was. He then decided he needed to figure out how to move forwards and backwards.

After that, he soon crashed head first into a metal post that was anchored deeply under the ground. After that, he soon realized that the ground would tell him that he was getting closer to objects that were too hard to burrow through. After a couple hours, he would practice this and would soon get good at not crashing into these various hard objects. Soon, he would realize he had yet to figure out how to rotate himself around. He would proceed to try cutting on one side, while pushing on the other, and doing this in opposite directions. He however starting spinning around really quickly, and soon got very dizzy. He proceeded to go back to the surface.

He took a bit of a rest, and would practice this rotation a bunch, and would eventually have some decent idea of how to control where he was. The final problem, was that he was not giving himself much air, and this was making it difficult to do the technique. He would proceed to realize that he needed to keep an air hole so that he would not need to keep coming up for air. He would make a hole with himself next to his head so that he would be able to breathe. He would proceed to practice this, but that meant he had to continue to cut more next to his head so that he could keep the air.

He soon realized that there was one last issue, all the rock that he went through was turning into quicksand. He realized that on the tail end of himself, he would need to reharden the rock to restore the ground to where it was. He practiced this a bit, but soon realized he had a better idea, which was to make rock columns that were hard. He would practice this a bunch, as he would go under the ground, and would proceed to repair all of the rock he turned into sand.

After all that stuff, he decided to do some more easy stuff. He would proceed to go to the nearby ramen place, and get some food there. He would proceed to eat a couple bowls of ramen, but not too much. After eating that, he decided that he should go get some sleep. It was getting dark, and missing ninja were starting to go out. He decided he wanted to stay out of trouble, so he decided that he should take 1 more trip underground. He wasn’t a super powerful ninja who could beat everyone who he saw. He would soon realize that he was probably not sure how to go back.

After about an hour of searching, and trying to figure out how to get into his apartment. After not paying any attention to where he was going, he soon ended up in someone’s basement. He fell out of the ground, and looked, and it seemed that people were running around upstairs, it sounded like there were little children.

He would proceed to jump back into the ground and proceed to continue on his way. After about 2 hours of searching, he finally found his apartment. He tried going up, but he soon found out that he was down under the middle of the apartment complex. He would proceed to go out until he finally made it out of the ground. He would then proceed to get out and walk into his apartment. After that, he would proceed to go and get some rest. He realized he wanted to try one thing, diving into the ground. He would get onto his little balcony, and would proceed to jump off. He was on the third floor, so he might have gotten himself hurt had he not had this technique, but with it on, he would be able to get into the ground. He did not realize, that there was a large amount of other hard stuff in the area, and soon banged his head on it. After a couple moments of feeling his head after getting the pain to go away, he would eventually return to the surface, and then go up and proceed to go back to his apartment, and finally get ready to go to sleep.
