Quiet Reflection [Fukuro] Empty Quiet Reflection [Fukuro]

Wed Dec 12, 2018 7:55 pm
[in between chuunin exam round 1 and two]
Knowing better than to kneel and leave a divot, Hayate crouched next to the final tree, tying off razor wire around its base. With traps like this, it was the details that were important, and the smallest indication could give the whole thing away.  As he finished the knot he took a step backwards, tracing the barely above shin height line with his eyes from tree to tree among the forests edge.  That should be enough of a warning.   His hands fell into the practiced motions, and with three quick handseals the already hard to spot line shimmered slightly, then faded to true invisibility.

The initial task finished, he turned to regard the stream.  In the clearing between the waters edge and the forest trap he just set up, there should be plenty of room to practice.  And he had to admit, the thick konoha foliage make an effective dampener to the sounds of the village, not far away, but still almost unheard.  Most of the sounds were the morning bugs and birds, and the gentle babble of the stream.

He slowly approached the rivers edge.  Before practicing any martial arts, he'd first have to ensure he found his center, the calm he came here for.  And despite, or rather because of, his poor chakra control, he still need to practice that anyway.  He crouched once more, this time at the bank, sticking his hand in the clear water, turning it this way and that, letting the cool flow of liquid push against and break around his hand, enjoying the sensation.  Then he lifted his hand out of the water and rose to stand upright, slowly forming first the bird and then dog handseals.

The clear water he had his hand immersed in previously began to slowly siphon up out of the lake in a tendril, forming a circular base around his feet  and then gently accelerating, rising in height as it sped up.  The combat technique was faster, more violent, but this took more control.  Once it reached a little over his head, the water wrapped in a tight column not even an inch from his stationary body, yet not touching him, spinning rapidly, he triggered the now fully prepared jutsu.  The tight column broke its rigid confines, rapidly expanding around him, spraying in each direction violently.

It was a good start.   He took a fighting stance, and prepared to work through his warm up forms.

Quiet Reflection [Fukuro] Empty Re: Quiet Reflection [Fukuro]

Wed Dec 12, 2018 10:20 pm
The early morning was quiet and still. It came with a certain peace that you could not usually get in any other time of the day. Of course that silence was not an audible one, the bugs still screamed and the birds still chirped. However it was almost as if the landscape itself was quiet, still.

Fukuro moved through the trees with no sense of urgency or intent. There were still several hours before he had to report for gate guard duty so he decided to spend the morning walking the trees surrounding the village. In the most recent days he had almost deigned to escape the village, get away from the reality of the situation. It had been over a year since his father was killed serving Konoha, and not long after that they had lost their war against the Hidden Mist. What resulted was a shamble of a treaty that left the Hidden Leaf in a state of embarrassment. Every time Fukuro looked upon his village it was with sorrow. That sorrow was what drove him out in the earliest part of the morning.

Usually Fukuro wore his standard Genin garb, but before his duties and usually after he was adorned in a simple kimono, with the seal of the Uchiha proudly stamped on the back.

Maybe Fukuro believed wearing the traditional attire would raise his morale but thus far he was not feeling any rise in motivation. The boy held an almost exhausted expression as he moved through the forest, his mind dwelling on the darker thoughts that plagued his mind. Even when Fukuro came into contact with a trip wire. The resistance against his leg was realized all too late. As Fukuro came tumbling down, slamming into the ground his mind was cleared of thoughts of his village and more on the bruise that was growing on his forearm.

"Agh, damn it." He muttered, picking himself up from the stumble.

Quiet Reflection [Fukuro] Empty Re: Quiet Reflection [Fukuro]

Black combat pants rustled as Hayate drove a knee into an imaginary opponents chest, Kunai in hand ready to block any make believe attacks, but before he could follow up by spinning into a low sweep to non existent person's off balanced legs, the "TWANG" of his tripwire being pulled taught and released drew his attention.

A body tumbled out of the treeline onto the ground, landing.... not entirely gracefully. Human, in a Kimono, and apparently completely unaware of him. The back of the sprawled boy boldly proclaimed a large symbol of that damned sharingan clan. Hayate's mind involuntarily flashed back to the moment in his first round fight when that eye took over his vision and then his body temporarily, but as quick as it came the sensation was gone.

He walked over to within a few meters of the boy, spinning the kunai with the ring around his right index finger, watching the boy mutter to himself. When Hayate was noticed, he'd cock his head over to the treeline and speak tersely. "Better watch your step. Tripwire". The wire had a short section visible where the Konoha Ninja had rubbed off the coating, though the visible part was slowly looking shorter and shorter as the chakra infused water crept back along the line, turning it invisible again.

Already making up his mind this wasn't a threat, the blonde genin stopped spinning the kunai and holstered it, watching the other boy. He wasn't sure if this was a clumsy spying attempt or an accidental meeting, but nothing in either trip suggested Konoha had any love for him, so he sure as hell wasn't going to turn his back.

All he had wanted was some peace away from Konoha for a short while. But noooooooo, it had to chase him, even outside its walls.

If Fukuro didn't move to leave within 10 seconds or so, Hayate would continue. "The wire means you're not welcome here." And he'd jerk his thumb toward the treeline, in a "head out" motion.

Quiet Reflection [Fukuro] Empty Re: Quiet Reflection [Fukuro]

Rubbing a small bruise that was surely forming on his arm, Fukuro pushed himself to a knee, just as a voice called out to him. Fukuro returned the warning with a less than enthusiastic tone. “Yea, I didn’t realize the squirrels started laying traps.” He muttered, before looking up at the man before him. Fukuro’s blue eyes rose to finally eye the man who likely set the trap. What he saw forced his gaze to immediately grow cold. A shinobi from Kirigakure. He must have been on business in the village but come here, maybe to train or just to get away from Konoha like Fukuro was.

The Genin narrowed his eyes at the Mist shinobi, arching a brow as he looked around. There was a sarcastic, almost defiant tone that fell from Fukuro. “What? Is this Hidden Mist territory now or something? Pretty sure we’re still in the land of fire.”

Standing to his full height, Fukuro did not bother to knock the dust off of his kimono. Instead his eyes remained locked on the shinobi who stood across from him. It had been ninja like him who put Konoha in the shame it was in now. It had been shinobi like him who made a mockery of the Land of Fire, and it had been a shinobi like him who killed Fukuro’s father almost one year ago. Although he did not realize it, Fukuro’s left hand had balled into a tight fist while his gaze never left the shinobi. “Why are you here?” He demanded, before arching a brow at the man. “The exams?”

Quiet Reflection [Fukuro] Empty Re: Quiet Reflection [Fukuro]

It was Hayate's turn to arch an eyebrow in amusement at the question posted to him, glancing up at the konoha headband centered on the Uchiha's forehead. "I thought a shinobi would know.  The land of fire is a vassal state of the Mist.  Every tree, every patch of dirt, is used by gracious permission of OUR Mizukage".  He emphasized the "our" to make sure the boy got the point, since he seemed so defiant, that he was also under mist rule.  The smirk that followed the sentence probably didn't help matters.

In fact, it certainly didn't.  A trained swordsman, Hayate couldn't miss the tensing of his opponent as if he was ready to strike.  The smirk slightly soured and Hayate's right hand gradually, nonchalantly drifted down the the hilt protruding from hip as if it was the most natural thing in the world, with no meaning or consequence.

He was receiving the same look he got last visit, the same look he got walking the town, the same look after he cut last years favorite.  The Konoha Hate. Made worse by those arrogant Uchiha, who still thought they were great, still thought they had control, even after being beat as a village and in individual matches. The blind, arrogant hate.  It seemed all this village was capable of.  So much for expecting otherwise, or escaping it for even one morning.....

This wasn't polite, or fun for him anymore.

A note of cold steel, as pure as any forged blade, entered the the Mist genins voice.  "My business is not your concern, LEAF."  He almost spat the last word.  "Didn't your parents teach you any manners? Move along."

That smirk that played on the older Genin’s face caused Fukuro’s eyes to narrow. His heart slammed in his chest as he stared at the man before him. Why did this Mist ninja believe he could say or do anything he wanted? Because he could. The reality of it forced a lump to grow in the pit of Fukuro’s stomach. It made him sick how much of a joke Konoha had become in the shadow of the Mist.

Still in a kneeling position before the Mist shinobi, Fukuro felt his temper growing closer and closer to a point of explosion. Who the hell was this man? Nothing. No one. He was not what Fukuro was, he was not an Uchiha.

Standing up, the young Genin spit out towards the Mist ninja, a small string of spit landing near the boy’s shoes. “I am a shinobi of the Hidden Leaf. Don’t mock my village you blood mist bastard.” The words spilled from Fukuro’s lips like venom. However, it was what the Mist shinobi said next that caused Fukuro’s eyes to grow wide.

What had his parents taught him?

His hand fell to the kunai pouch that rested on his thigh, pulling it from its holster and gripping it tightly in his hands. “What did you say to me?” He asked, his body slowly sliding into a more balanced combat stance. His left leg fell behind his right as he allowed the slightest bend to his knees, leveling his kunai knife up towards the Genin. “Do you want me to show you what my father taught me? He taught me how to kill Mist Shinobi who don’t know how to shut their mouths.” He threatened.

And there it was. With a weapon drawn, all emotion and pretense was out the window, and it was business. Hayate didn't tense up, but his body seemed to become still, without idle movement.

"Maybe in the land of fire those are used as toys, but we in the mist dont draw a weapon on another unless we intend to use it." Hayate slid his hilt forward the slightest amount away from the scabbard then stopped, about an inch of steel exposed, shining in contrast with the natural glade. "You have two seconds to put that away, and to run, not walk, out of here. Or i'll show you just how useless your father's teaching were."

Quiet Reflection [Fukuro] Empty Re: Quiet Reflection [Fukuro]

Sun Dec 16, 2018 2:13 am
Fukuro knew it was past the time to talk. That time had come and gone. Now the two shinobi would continue their conversation in the language of the ninja world, combat. Although Fukuro heard the man’s warning it was immediately clear he would not be heeding it, regardless of how much he should. By attacking a Kirigakure shinobi he was now swimming in uncharted waters. It did not seem like his thoughts were on the consequences of his actions. Instead his blue eyes scanned the man, searching for any apparent weakness he could find.

The pause that was held between them seemed to last an eternity. Fukuro did not charge in foolishly. His breathing was even and calm as he eyed his opponent closely. His eyes flickered over the sword the man’s hand was grasping. If he wanted to defeat a swordsman he would either need to maintain his distance or get behind the mist shinobi’s defenses as fast as possible.

Fukuro gave off the slightest twitch before his feet pressed against the ground. The shinobi charged forward, his kunai held in a reverse grip with the blade facing away from his body. Keeping an eye on the shinobi’s blade he would aim the blade of his own knife for the mist ninja’s shoulder. It was a testing assault, just a move to measure his opponent’s skill. If he was lucky he would be able to draw blood from the man, maybe more. The anger that flowed through him had all but taken control, this had become more than a simple altercation, it was a matter of pride and that was something the Uchiha had droves.

Quiet Reflection [Fukuro] Empty Re: Quiet Reflection [Fukuro]

Sun Dec 16, 2018 3:58 am
A second passed, as both ninja sized each other up in the clearing. The subtle movements of the leaves in the breeze and the water in the stream seemed amplified in contrast to the stillness before a fight.

It was a feeling Hayate knew well at this point, no longer the inexperienced novice. He himself took a steady, deep breath, to see if the rarest of all occurrences, a prudently heeded warning and the swallowing of pride, would take place.

The flicker of Fukuro's blue eyes to the inch of exposed steel on Hayate's blade told him everything he needed to know. A charge followed, with barely the slightest tell to give it away. But at this point, Hayate was on full alert, concentrating on the intricate, unique dance that was each battle, wielding each muscle as if it were its own weapon. (activating Body is a Weapon Jutsu)

The strike came, shoulder height (20 speed), and Hayate sidestepped to the right (175 speed). It was only the slow speed of the attack that stayed Hayate's sword in the sheath, instead of seeing the mist ninja use the rotation of his body to release his grandfathers blade across the genin's chest. He couldn't bring himself to use such an heirloom on this level of attack. Even his senses didn't want to react as if the attack was lethal, and his hand released the weapon, letting it slide back, fully holstered once more.

The first swipe wasn't the end of the attack, though. Fukuro continued his slashing assault, only to have Hayate continue to dance just at the edge of his reach, sidestepping, moving backwards, alternating dodges with sweeping blocks to the forearm, driving the assaulting hand out and away from his body. Hayate's body was reacting almost on autopilot, more like fighting the wooden dummies at the dojo then an actual opponent.

A stab towards the center of Hayate's chest was the last attack in the series the Leaf ninja would get off. The mist ninja accelerated even faster, rolling his left side backwards and pulling his torso almost horizontal in a matrix-like dodge (split second jutsu, 215 speed). While his body rotated backwards and to the left, Hayate's right palm rose at the same incredible speed, slamming into Fukuros wrist, attempting to send the Kunai held in it spinning into the air above the stream.

The rotational energy would be put to good use, as Hayate would continue to spin, his left leg rising as it passed behind him. He leaned into the turn instead of recovering back to forwards, and a spinning reverse kick would slam into Fukuro's solar plexus, sending his body a few meters backwards in the air.

Fukuro would hit the ground for the second time today, followed shortly by the splash of his kunai finally obeying gravity after being lofted so high in the air, coming to rest in the streambed.

He was ready to expect anything, but this? This was the madness that was Konoha. A genin obviously barely out of the academy, not yet ready to fight, wandering in on and attacking a member of Kiri. The town operated on indignation, as if it deserved better, was better than it really was. It disgusted him. He couldn't believe how excited he was for his first trip here, believing the stories were probably exaggerations. Full of naïveté that had slowly, steadily been squashed out of him.

He spoke, not yelling, eyes slightly lowered, with disappointment in his voice. As if he had expected, had almost hoped for better. "There's an order to this world. Everything, everyone has a place. I know right where mine is. Know yours, fallen leaf. Dont get up. There are no second chances for ninja." His eyes would stay fixed on the figure of the boy. He would see this through, one way or the other.

Quiet Reflection [Fukuro] Empty Re: Quiet Reflection [Fukuro]

Sun Dec 16, 2018 5:31 am
Fukuro assaulted the Hidden Mist shinobi with a measure of discipline and routine that was bred from training, not combat. Because of this his attacks were missing something. A killing intent, a true blood, whatever it was called it was obvious before this fight had begun who the victor would win. The young Genin’s blade charged again and again, each time it missed its mark as if it had never been there to begin with. The first miss had been predictable if not expected, however no matter how many times his attack was rekindled it was met with an equal result, failure. Fukuro grew impatient and angered when his blade never met home. He wanted to lash out or yell in anger but his mind was too focused with finding a weakness, exploiting some flaw. It never happened.

Fukuro moved in step with the man, yet somehow he felt so many paces behind. When he aimed his razor sharp blade for the man’s chest, he was able to see the glimpse of a true shinobi. Hayate bent deeply at the waist, almost past that what Fukuro believed was possible. When his palm shot forward into Fukuro’s wrist, the boy stared as his kunai flew into the air. That single moment played in his mind for what felt like hours. In only a second Fukuro had been disarmed. This did not seem possible. His gaze was broken when he felt the hard slam of Hayate’s reverse kick, meeting an undefended mark.

With the momentum built up from his initial movement Fukuro was sent reeling back as if he had no control over his own body. He flew back into an uncontrolled roll that finally rested him several meters away from Hayate. The wind had been completely knocked from him and it felt as if the kick itself had been a horse trampling over him. Pushing himself to his knees, Fukuro coughed as he struggled to get the air back into his chest. “So...Fast.” He coughed, his eyes snapping shut as he was sent into a ragged fit of coughs.

Even in the shinobi academy Fukuro never felt this inept. Why would he? He had been a prodigy. A scion of the Uchiha clan he had barely struggled with a single jutsu. All of that meant nothing now. He stood in the dirt being spoken to as if he had only been born a few days ago. As Hayate spoke, Fukuro spit into the dirt, finally feeling the air return to him. His place in the ninja world was something he knew well and it was far above where he stood now. “My...Father died...For the honor of Konoha. I won’t let a mist ninja like you beat me…I won’t embarrass him like that.” Fukuro declared, a certain fire flickering in his eyes as he glared at the Hidden Mist shinobi.

Fukuro pushed himself to a kneeling position, clasping his hands together in a unique seal. With his finger crossed in front of his chest his chakra came alive, flowing through the seal and causing several explosions of smoke to erupt around him. {-30 AP} Two plumes of smoke erupted behind Fukuro, each one covering a pure replica of the young shinobi. The Shadow Clone jutsu was one of the more powerful in Fukuro’s arsenal and certainly one of the more difficult to maintain. As each of these clones stared at the Hidden Mist Shinobi, there was a gaze of certain hatred that sprang from them. Without a word these two clones would charge forward, passing the real Fukuro and making their way towards Hayate. They would cross paths and attempt to place the man in a circle surrounded by the three leaf shinobi. Hayate may have been fast but now he was outnumbered.
