So, in the end, Yoichi had decided to give the kid over to the care of local law enforcement. Kozachi approved of this, of course. Better that than to try and help him independently. Better to let the non-killers handle the child-raising. She only really did this when it was convenient... or when she wanted to hide something from Kenjiro. Mouths could talk, and words would reach her brother about this remnant gang, but piles of ash would ensure that Ken didn't go out of his mind again with that crazy plan he had cooked up. If he couldn't keep himself safe, she'd do it for him. When they'd fought, she felt his weakness, though she hated to admit it. Her brother, who she had looked up to and thought of as a genius, was even weaker than she was. And he wanted to try and purge the village of this criminal threat? Not on her watch. While he convalesced and grew strong again, she'd be the one to keep the menace at bay. Not a whisper of Gisei's legacy would reach Kenjiro's ears, not if she could help it. Kozachi's face grew more determined as she looked upon the remains of those who had dared to raise their weapons against her.
She had read the lips of the two who had been talking further down the alley, and caught the gist of it. The girl knew about the presence of a black market. In any village that there were market controls, you'd find one for sure and for certain. People didn't like it when their economy was encroached upon by law, and while Kozachi could understand for them, she didn't personally feel one way or the other about it. Things like economic policy were totally out of her control, after all, as a mere genin.
"Black markets are something a discerning man of the law leaves around." Kozachi responded to Yoichi's quip. "Sure, it's all illegal, and you'll mop it all up eventually, but until then, having... 'underworld connections' can be remarkably useful. So let's not wreck too much shit in there, mmk?" She pointed a compound custodian toward the piles of ash and set out for the warehouse. On the way, she decided to strike up a conversation with the boy. His topology screamed that he had been shaken by the deaths of the assailants, but he was keeping up surprisingly well. He didn't have the tremors and depression that she had had after her kills at the basement, nor did he have that fiery, stony look that Kenjiro had adopted. Maybe this kid was tougher than she had anticipated. Good.
"Hey, you did good with that kid. I know we don't see eye to eye on... certain issues, but I'm sure we can work it out." Wow, what an awkward start. If it was a girl, she'd probably be more smooth about it. Maybe it was the whole "madame" thing. People who didn't know the modernized Uchiha clan that well were always calling her "young lady" and such things, and it pissed her off a little. Nevertheless, she supposed she couldn't really blame them. The girl knew full well that there were clans within which such traditions were strictly adhered to. It was all bullshit and fluff to her. "Anyways, what brought you over to the Uchiha compound in the first place?"
