Mission
Last thread

(Now in the Land of Tea)

The group arrived at their destination and got straight to work on their mission. Before they could gather any information they would first need to locate the missing ninja in question.

"It's probably best if we stay together. Never know when someone might attack." Kizaru said to the other two.

"Now where should we look to find these bastards?"

"Good idea. I think we should start by surveying the land. That way, if we do have to get into combat, we'll at least know where we are. We should also try and keep to the border."

Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea Empty Re: Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea

Chuta looked around. The land of tea wasn't much different than the land of fire, though it looked more open and had rolling hills. The forest still dotted it's landscape. Good for cover, though they might not be the only ones hiding.

"Yeah. Lets stick together. Keep your eyes open for anything suspicious. Things like burnt logs, any buildings that are sticking out, foot prints, odd smells, anything. Say something if you notice something. This is dangerous territory we are in." Chuta said. "Lets start by heading North. Make our way about two miles, stick close to the border. Stay low and lets move fast. You guys alright with that?" Chuta paused for a second giving anyone space to talk.

If they agreed they would move north and see if they could spot any missing ninja in the area. Otherwise, they would sit there and talk for a bit. Either one was fine with Chuta. The more they could hash out now the better.

Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea Empty Re: Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea

"Sounds like a plan." Kizaru said.

The group decided to move forward north and look for signs of activity in the area. They moved quietly and efficiently, staying hidden to anyone who might be on guard in the area. They were careful about how they proceeded; Wouldnt want to step straight into the camp of missing nin.

About an hour into their search Kizaru signalled for the group to stop and pointed through the trees to the team's right. "Look, is that a bonfire?"

He could just make out the dance of yellow and orange flickering through the woods. It could very well be an enemy encampment so he made sure to speak with hushed tones.

"Should we check it out?" He asked.

Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea Empty Re: Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea

"I say we steer clear of any enemy camps. It could easily be a trap. I say we form a perimeter, and then once we do so, we wait for night to fall. Once it's night, they might have had a drink or two, and their senses will be dulled. They'll obviously spread out, as any logical person wouldn't spend their night in the same place that they lit a huge bonfire like that. When we count them though, we need to make sure of something. We'll only count the Missing Ninja to our right. That way, we don't end up counting duplicates. Sound like a plan?"

Yoi was making sure to speak quietly enough that the Missing Ninja wouldn't overhear them.

Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea Empty Re: Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea

“Hm.” Chuta and the other ninja came to a stop. Through the trees was what looked like a camp. At this point it could be for travelers or Missing Ninja. Chuta wanted to be safe than sorry but this was a perfect time for observation. “I understand where you are coming from Yoi. But if we wait for nightfall we are all at a disadvantage. We don’t know this area like they do. We could be falling for a trap there too. Why don’t we get a little higher in the trees, sneak closer, and keep an eye on the the camp till night fall? We shouldn’t just go wander into a camp. But this is a perfect situation to gather intel.” Chuta waited for a response.

If they could post up near enough to the camp they could see who was coming and going. Seeing faces and details of uniforms or headbands would be a plus. Chuta was afraid none of that would be gathered in the dark. “Why don’t we circle the camp even? See if there are large trails going in and out. If there are people in town and drinking, the camp probably isn’t packed right now anyway. We can post up on one of the roads and see who is Traveling that way.”

Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea Empty Re: Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea

Thu Sep 19, 2019 7:01 pm
Kizaru heard both of his teammates ideas for how they should proceed and thought about them for a moment. It would be hard to gather intel if they couldn't see. Now probably would be the best time to get in position. If this were a camp of rogue ninja then there probably wouldn't be too many hanging around during the day.

"Watchu think Kimchi?" He turned and whispered to his monkey friend, "should we head up into the trees?" The tamarin's eyes lit up at the prospect of tree climbing.

Kizaru nodded in agreement to Kimchis excitement. "I agree with Chuta. Now is probably the safest time to move. If we can quietly move through the trees we should be able to get a good look at who it is that's around that fire."

The group would be in some serious trouble if they were to fall into a trap.

Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea Empty Re: Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea

Yoi said, "Fine, I just don't think we should get too high up in the trees. They might spot us."

The Yuki channeled his chakra into his feet, walking sideways up the tree. It took him a second to get oriented. He would have to get better at that for the upcoming Chunnin Exams. He would have to get better at everything. But now was not the time for things like that. Yoi scaled his way up the tree, getting into the leaves. Once he was suitably hidden, he channeled some Wind Release chakra into his footsteps, silencing his movement. He moved closer to the camp, finding a good spot where he could see them, but they couldn't see him. Yoi looked around. There seemed to be 10 or so of them. Occasionally, a new person would join and it would seem like the poeple would then get to know him. He made a mental note that they were recruiting. Now he was gonna try and find out the rest of the required information.

Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea Empty Re: Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea

It was agreed, they were going to get into the trees and make their way closer to the camp. Chuta watched as Yoi moved and how he couldn’t hear him anymore, “man I have to learn that.” He said quietly and tried to push wind chakra into his feet, though the result almost made him lose his balance. Water chakra made his foot slippery and difficult to control for a moment, but when he stopped and put normal chakra it was fine. He was really going to have to learn how to differentiate between the two. It was going to be fun.

While up in the tree he stayed level with Yoi, trying to ease his mind. He followed as quietly as he could be couldn’t help the normal thudding of his feet on the tree truck. It wasn’t loud enough to echo, just enough that it was silent. As they moved and approached the camp he could make out people grouping together. Some were conversing and shaking hands, “they must not know each other.” He thought. He could only make out about five in his position, and couldn’t really tell if there was anyone coming from down the road, a large branch obscured his vision. The good thing, Chuta noted, was that they all looked like missing ninja right now, no one was wearing tea country markings. They would have to wait till dark to be sure they weren’t working together though.

Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea Empty Re: Gathering Intel in the Land of Tea

Kizaru stepped up to a tree and focused the chakra in the bottom of his feet. He slowly and carefully crept up into the branches, trying not to make any noise. He held a finger to his lips to signal for Kimchi to stay quiet.

From his vantage point he could see a small camp. A small amount of people gathered around a tiny campfire. He assumed they didn't make a larger fire so not to arouse attention. Worked out real well for them. The men gathered seemed to not know each other very well.

Kizaru wondered if they were being gathered together by someone. A group of rogue ninja gathering without knowing each other, was definitely a scary prospect. Maybe this mission was more important than the young genin had first thought.

The night would need to roll in before they could really get a grasp on the situation at hand.
