Re: Ice in the land of Fire (NK, Yoi)
Thu Jan 30, 2020 5:39 pm
Snow listened to Yoi as he began speaking on the way one could use the wind element with their chakra. He made a mental note of everything that he said as he spoke, knowing that every word was going to carry a great deal of information that was going to bring him to a much closer point of being able to perform techniques with a wind chakra transformation, but he was going to be a massive step closer to getting control of the Ice elemental chakra transformation. This was not only a goal that he wanted, but one that he needed. He had so many plans on what he would be able to accomplish with the ice element, but first, he needed to focus on the here and now and getting the basics done first.
“Well, let’s start with wind. So what you want to do with wind is you want to rub your chakra against each other, almost as if you’re sharpening it. That’s why when using the elemental paper test, the paper tears or cuts in half. Now, Ice Release is a little more complicated.”
Snow nodded his head and he thought about the elemental paper test that he went through in the academy. The moment he pressed his hand against the paper, it immediately turned soggy, letting him and his teachers know that he was one with the affinity for water with his chakra. He actually had a piece of the paper in his backpack on his back. He had asked his teacher earlier that day if he could have a couple pieces, telling him that he was beginning to focus on training the wind release so he would be able to obtain the ice release chakra by mixing his water and wind once he learned it, to create the Ice element with his chakra.
He grabbed the paper out of his backpack and he began pressing his hands against the paper, focusing on exactly what Yoi had talked about. "Split the chakra in half and force them back together, as if you are sharpening it with each half." Snow thought to himself. He focused on his chakra, visualizing his chakra splitting in half and pressing against each other, forming a razor sharp edge. He put all of his focus into the chakra's sharpening. The feeling of his chakra did feel different. While he had used his main element so much, being the water element, he knew the feeling that he would have every time he would use his water chakra. He would meditate and he could feel the chakra spread throughout his body. He felt the way it would flow and ripple through his body. But while he was focusing on the sharpening of his chakra, he felt his chakra change and transform into something much different.
Instead of his chakra flowing and rippling through his body. It would now feel like a sharp wind from a tornado or during a rain storm. That was when he made the connection, water and wind weren't so opposite, not like he thought before. Water and wind generally came hand in hand, one just needed to see the connection, even within their chakra. The change in the feeling of his chakra was significant, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. He felt very confident in his abilities to focus his mind to use a new element, especially when he had someone who had already gone through this actually here to guide him through the transformation itself.
Snow could feel the paper within his hands begin to shake and vibrate ever so slightly. He knew that this was good, when he did this test the first time, the paper never vibrated, just became soggy and dripped water from within his grasp. He didn't want to look at the paper yet, he wanted to instead cut it in half completely before stopping his channeling his chakra into the paper. He could not bring himself to stop. He felt his mind fixtating on the paper, visualizing his chakra pressing harder and harder, forming the sharper edge, a sharper edge than he could ever imagine. Finally after a few more minutes, he felt and heard the paper rip directly in half. He lifted his top hand that was pressing on the paper and he peered into his lower hand to see that the paper within his palm had been cut directly in half into two equal pieces of paper.
"Yes!" Snow cheered as he realzied that he had been able to learn the Wind release element in such little time. But his cheering was short lived when he saw that Yoi was already waiting for him by the river, which he assumed was so he could move the lesson on a bit. Snow didn't mind the fast-paced lesson, he wanted nothing more than for this training to reach it's destination so he would be able to use the Ice-release chakra affinity. He met Yoi over by the river and he listened extremely carefully to every word that Yoi spoke when he talked about the Ice release and it's different ways that one person could use the dangerous and helpful elemental chakra transformation.
“Ice Release can be made multiple ways.” Yoi then brought his hand up and had three of his fingers pointed toward the sky, as if he was about to speak on three separate points all about the ice release chakra affinity. He was curious to see what three points he would speak about when talking about the use of Ice release. “The first of which, is deposition. The user cools the water vapor in the air to create Ice, which also directly skips the liquid phase. The second way is freezing. This is a little easier to understand. You just cool liquid water and well, freeze it. The last way is creating Ice out of nothing, in a manner similar to Lightning or Fire Release. Lightning and Fire release, with some jutsu, the user doesn’t create fire. They use chakra to make something that mimics those elements. That’s what we do when creating Ice when it’s not from deposition or freezing. For example, the Weapons of Ice technique is an example of a deposition Ice Release technique. The user uses water into the air to create a weapon made of ice. I don’t know any techniques that rely on freezing to make Ice though. However, the techniques Freezing Aura and Icing Over both use creating Ice with your chakra. I can teach you those things on a later date though.”
Snow took in every single word and he carefully made his mental notes about the three different ways that Ice release could be used. He then also spoke about a few different techniques that he may teach him on a future date. Snow was so focused on learning the elements, he had forgotten how excited he was to be able to use these newfound elements to actually perform different techniques that would prove to be quite destructive, or helpful, depending on the perspective and the intent of the techniques and the caster himself. Snow thought of the three separate ways one could use the ice release and they all seemed to be quite self explanatory.
He placed his hands against the river and he focused on combining his water and wind chakras together, cooling the water beneath his hand to an extreme length, causing even the moving water to begin to freeze beneath his hand. Snow could not believe how effective Yoi's teaching was. Snow then focused on the air around him, he thought about the first avenue that Yoi spoke about, he focused on the water vapors within the air around them and he began channeling his ice chakra affinity into the water in the air, causing small ice particles to form, just big enough to see with the naked eye.
Snow couldn't have been more grateful, so he turned over to Yoi and hugged him. "Thank you so much for teaching me this. I have been dreaming of this day for a very long time and I can barely believe that I was able to harness the power of not just wind, but ice in the same training session. You are going to make an amazing squad leader once you become a Chuunin. I can't begin to thank you enough for all of the help that you were to me."

Yoi patted the boy on the shoulder, before releasing Snjor’s hug.
Yoi said, “Well, thank you. It’s been a pleasure to meet you.” Yoi would then go back into his spot in the woods, and continue training.

Snow watched as Yoi walked back into the depths of the forest to continue training, at least that is what Snow would assume at that point. He mentally noted the figure as he walked away, remembering how much help he was to bring him one giant step closer to becoming the ninja he wanted to be. He turned back and he thought about what he was going to train for the rest of the day. He was also quite blown away at just how fast he was able to learn both of those elements, so he decided to instead of train, he would go get himself some ramen.
