Re: Dr. Green Thumb (Mizuki, Sebastian)
Sun Aug 16, 2020 7:00 pm
She watched in irritation as Guren avoided her onslaught with ease - the smoke still detonated around her and she was now surrounded with so much smoke as to be unable to see in any direction, only hear the heartbeat of Guren now in her 5 meter proximity. She had launched herself blindly in the direction his heartbeat was coming from - and missed his legs as he slid out of the way. She wanted to snarl in fury and irritation - first cheating now this. Her eyes were seeping into a blood red color as she continued into a roll and popped back up to her feet just outside of the smoke bombs radius and saw an even more infuriating sight; Sebastian, lounging with a bundle in his hand and the kunai in the other.
She stood unnaturally still as she stared him down, willing herself to calm down, that these two were so far beneath her upset that she would only make a fool of herself… but they had seen to that already hadn’t they. Oh how the verbal beration began with a vengeance in her own mind - hurling insults at herself in quickening succession, dissecting everything she had done wrong and even the things she did right weren’t right enough. Her face showed none of these emotions - the queen of masks she was incapable of being read - thus after what was only a second or two she too strode over closer to the two, picked up her kimono and slid it over herself and tied it in silence. Finally once she was wearing her attire she approached the two, reserved but tolerant of the banter. Glancing down at the extended fist she would give it a bump, perhaps a little rougher than necessary, before leaning down and taking her kunai back from Sebastian and returning it to the pouch on her hip that the kimono now hid from view.
“I focused on you because I deemed you a higher threat. Seems I was correct. Congrats Sebastian you did what I couldn’t do and stole from Guren here and made it back to the kunai without so much as a single issue. Stealth seems to be your greatest attribute.”, with those words she reached behind her, hands still gloved, and untied the hemlock bundle that had been secured in the middle of her thick hair. “You get to keep the Hemlock from this mission, make some poisons from it and impress your Kage, medical practice is rarely used to heal people in our line of work. I’d say he would be at least interested to see what you can come up with. Other than that, excellent work both of you, I clearly have a lot to work on.”
Hadn’t that been why she really brought them out here? To not only gauge them but to start piecing together what she needed to work on to best fight both of them if it ever came to that point? The black book in her pocket seemed to burn in desire to be updated with the new perspective a simple basic skill drill had given her - about their mindsets, their general plan of attacks, behavior and strengths. Did she enjoy losing? No not at all, who would? Did she know how to spin things in her favor?
Absolutely.
Now she finally gave a warm smile to the pair along with a laugh that was meant to ease any tension that she held in her body. “I think I might have gotten some rocks stuck in my chin when you slyly stepped out of my way Guren. So, until next time boys, it was a pleasure, but I think I'll head back now. Mission accomplished.” The jab was friendly enough and it was clear her face was unmarked but she made parting gestures to the two and made her way back to the ridge, hopping down the rocks she had earlier climbed and made the trek back to the village gates. Empty handed.

Clearly enjoying his well-deserved victory, one he had attained through hard work and dedication, Sebastian was munching on some cookies while watching the spectacle which had started to play out in front of him. Although the cat and mouse game was short lived, the young misfit had still fun seeing it take place. Guren would be the first to walk up to the starting point and congratulate Sebastian in his own way. "Should have brought your kimono after all" he replied while accepting the fist bump. At the same time Mizuki had joined the party as well, it was always a party when Sebastian won. "Yes, keep it coming. More praise, more" before he could finish his sentence Sebastian suddenly started to cough as it seems he choked in one of the cookies. "Urgh, wrong hole." The Tau would wipe away the crumbs as he stood up to accept his reward. He opened his arms expecting a hug, but alas, it were plants.
In an attempt to seem ecstatic he tried to express genuine and overwhelming happiness. "T-thanks, I'm so excited. I just can't hide it." With the Hemlock in his hand the young misfit continued to listen to Mizuki as she adviced him to make some poisons with it. Perhaps that wasn't a bad idea, given his medical background he might be able to come up with some crafty and nasty ideas. Not much longer the young woman decided it was time to part ways as she left off, back to the village. Sebastian would allow a silence to fall between Guren and himself before speaking up again. "So, G. You don't happen to know the way back, do you?" With or without kimono, he was glad he won. The start of something new.

Although Guren had lost his bundle of hemlock and effectively came in last place, he still felt a moral victory in his opportunity to showcase his evasive abilities. He wasn't the fastest shinobi, but he was quite cunning which would more than make up for his base abilities. Nevertheless a loss was a loss, and he acknowledged this in his congratulatory fist bumps to his comrades. Each of which seemed to display a certain kill. Mizuki seemed to have a killer instinct, which may be inclined her to immediately target Guren. Seba represented an opportunistic school of thought, recognizing that a commotion was occurring and seeking to exploits happenings to his own benefit. Guren himself, was more deceptive than anything. The use of a smoke bomb didn't seem to be explicitly against the rules, as he was not attacking anyone with it. Yet had his anticipating of the combat gone how he expected his plan would have worked out more in his favor.
But alas, this was a competition amongst future friends. There were no hard feelings to be had, well at least he thought.
Seba seemed to be proud and lighthearted about his win, to which Guren laughed at slightly. Maybe the two could develop a friendship through humor. And on the contrary, Mizuki's response to the altercation seemed a bit more cold based on several of her responses. Her fist bump was powerful, as if she had substituted it for her missed opportunity at striking him in their fight. Her words were sharp, like the shuriken and senbon she hurled at him. And the content was short, almost as if she didn't want to acknowledge his question. And this was fair, perhaps her passion for competition went a bit deeper than Guren's own. But in response to her comment, all Guren did was bestow a kind yet modest smile upon his face.
Guren watched the...awkward interaction between Seba and Mizuki, which was cringing to say the least. Clearly Seba was anticipating some sort of celebratory affection which Mizuki never offered. Instead she handed over her hemlock to showcase her good sportsmanship. Seba immediately tried to hide his failed attempt at getting some sugar and tried to change the subject to another joke of his. Guren would just sigh and shake his head. The dynamic of these three was something for sure, but Guren couldn't quite put his finger on it.
As Mizuki said her parting words there was a bittersweet mixture of salt and sugar in her tone. Guren chuckled slightly and gave her a thumbs up in response, "I'm sure you'll make me pay for that huh?". Following this, she started off towards Suna. As the conversation deafened, Seba would break it by asking Guren if he knew the way back. First he took Guren's hemlock, then he ate cookies in front of him, and now he wanted his help? Sheesh, the audacity. Guren smiled before looking at Seba and said, "Yeah bro follow me".
