Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna] Empty Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna]

Mon Nov 16, 2020 3:03 pm
He fucking hated this country.

Even before they exited the boat, as they travelled up a river to a port town, the air was already arid and so hot every time a breeze rose from the rocking waves of the river without any heat in it Kaito felt as Fujin was blessing him in particular. At least when there was storm weather in Kumogakure, there was the promise that the rain would come in soon enough when the light’s show started. Here, the stifling heat bore down unrelentingly.

It had not been the best idea to craft this armor in full black fabrics and lightweight metals just to bring it to the Wind Country, to be sure. Dark as pitch or ink, the armor drank the sunlight and held on to it as if it were the most precious of resources to be found in this land. Fortunately, the boat crew had afforded some silky white cloaks to the duo of ninja they transported. The white silk would reflect most of the light in the desert, and prevent the duo from suffering from heatstroke. The desert was a dangerous place, especially to outsiders. The white silk would reveal only Kaito's face and from the knee below, showing his greaves, but most importantly his headbamd and the trusty eyepatch that covered the white eye.

The trip through the desert had not been too difficult. Even though the village’s were supposed to be “hidden”, they were all but that. Noboru and Kiserai knew exactly where to go, what landmarks to look for, and had an estimated time of arrival. Didn’t make the trip any easier.

“I fucking hate this country”, he would say outloud when he knew only himself and mayhaps Kiseragi could hear it, in between enabling and disabling his Byakugan to keep tabs on their environment every 50 meters or so, always when he knew the Lord Raikage or others wouldn’t notice the veins. In spite of being his new Kage, he didn’t have full confidence in the man, for he had just met him days before, and as such he didn’t want him finding out about the white eye.

Soon enough, and after finding the essential landmarks, they came to a rock formation that seemed to match the description of the village. A shield wall, stretching far and wide, tall walls that could’ve dwarfed the Kumogakure’s own walls if he remembered it properly. He didn’t see the Kumogakure walls too often from the outside, in the distance. “We’re here, Lord Raikage.”

The duo approached the Cleft, a noticeable enough gap in the rockface. As they entered, they approached a booth, likely where a guard would sit to receive visitors. He knew that if he was in guard duty, he’d likely be there, and so that’s where he aimed at, Byakugan enabled and hidden under the silk cloak so as to not attract attention to the bulging veins, however he would disable it should his Byakugan detect anyone coming closer or within sight, especially once he came in range of the first guard he could find.

Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna] Empty Re: Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna]

Mon Nov 16, 2020 3:20 pm
The entire boat there Kiseragi mainly hummed a small tune to himself as he looked over into the waters of the sea. Could he honestly remember a time where he had seen this sight? Not a memory could be traced to this marvel as he only remembered the waters leading to the fabled tailed beast island.  It was when they arrived to the docks of Sunagakure that he began to miss the cool and often cold touch of the mountains. As the heat began to flick upon his skin he heaved a small sigh until he was given one of the silk robes.

With a small smile he took it and put it on, replacing the one he had on when they were on the boat. Stuffing his old one into his bag, it would be slung back over his shoulders sitting just above his sword. With his clothing reconfigured, he reached into his inner Cheongsun's pocket and pulled out a pair of sunglasses to protect his eyes from the desert sands and pulled up his hood before walking onward.

He had to admit that he didn't like Sunagakure's geography. It was hot and Barren with sandstorms and other phenomena that the Kumogakure Shinobi was unfamiliar with, but a ninja had to adapt to all surroundings. Noboru's comment caused a small chuckle to escape his lips as he looked over to him," I do agree to that sentiment to some extent but as ninja we should be masters at adapting should we not?," he'd continue along his way although one thing was for sure...he craved cool air.

"Impressive."

That was the single word that left his lips as they arrived to the giant walls of Suna. As they approached the shack he pulled both the hood and sunglasses off to show his face before responding to any guards that would stop and ask them for identification, " We are the envoys of Kumogakure, here for the Kate Sunmit. The Kazekage should be expecting us," if asked identification he would indeed show it.

Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna] Empty Re: Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna]

Tue Nov 17, 2020 7:10 pm
Within the small guard post near the gates the hunched form of Han could be seen, a bored look on his face as he leaned forwards and rested his chin against the palm of his hand. Today had been… unusually quiet, and while he appreciated the quiet he hated the boredom that came with it. He was almost sad that Mizuki wouldn’t be joining him on these guard missions anymore… but she was the Kazekage now, she was far above petty duties like thee. He had been quite surprised that the Kid would give away the title of Kazekage, and the power that came with it, to someone else, even if he agreed with the decision and the person he had chosen whole heartedly. He supposed Ken had grown quite a bit from how he was in the past… he was honestly proud of the kid, he’d come a very long way from the anti-social and hateful child that he had first met in Hoshigakure. Heh, maybe he could get the little shit to join him on a couple of these, he’d wanted to catch up with him for awhile now but with him being the Kazekage it had been next to impossible for him to ask for something like that.

In the distance the older man could see the approaching forms of two travelers, both of whom were clad in pure white, something that was almost a given seeing as they were travelling through the inhospitable desert. It was always amusing when people crossed the threshold of The Dome, and the sheer difference in both temperature and climate within. As they got closer the older man would sit up a bit more, bringing his arm down and off the table, and would simply wait for them to get close enough for him to talk without the need to shout. One of the men ended up standing a little off to the back, while the other removed his hood and the sunglasses he was wearing, introducing himself as the envoys of Kumogakure, for the Kage summit. Shit… he would have to be polite with these guys wouldn’t he? Ugh.

“Welcome to Sunagakure, and thank you for heeding the invitation of Lord Kazekage for this Kage Summit. I’m going to need both of your shinobi ID’s before I can allow you to enter the village. Once that is done I can give both of you the official visitation permits, and you will both be free to enter the village.” The lean older man would explain, his face not exactly blank but also not showing much.

Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna] Empty Re: Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna]

Wed Nov 18, 2020 6:31 am
A ninja should indeed adapt to their environments. Kaito knew as much, however, he had been crafting this armor for a long while, and he did not have the time to create an armor for this occasion. With the ice steel he had obtained, a controlled temperature would be feasible to obtain, creating an advantage within this desert environment against other opponents. After all, what was the use of specialising in weaponry and taking up blacksmithing if he wasn't going to have tools specialized for each situation? He nodded to Kiseragi's comment, but left it at that.

Already within the shade of the Cleft, the difference in temperature was astounding, and Kaito inhaled a breath of fresh air, exhaling with relief, before disabling his Byakugan once he took the measure of the one within the guard house. As they approached, he mimicked Kiseragi in running a hand under the hood to reveal his rugged features. The man within the booth was an elder ninja, but that didn't discount any valor he might have in Kaito's eyes. To be so old in the ninja business was a valuable trait in Kaito's eyes, as one might grow old in a business with such high mortality rate by either being extremely competent or by being a coward, and Kaito very much doubted the Sunagakure would post a coward at their gates. As someone who endured his fair share of gate duty, he could empathize with the old man already.

Upon being asked for his ID, he procured the document from his weapon pouch, a small booklet with his identification as a ninja; boring bureaucracy but a necessity in this world. Identification, rank, village, authentication. The mark of civilized society. He slid the document through the window slit, without word, as his Kage had already spoken and nothing else was asked of him.

Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna] Empty Re: Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna]

Wed Nov 18, 2020 3:44 pm
Kiseragi gave the guard a warm smile as he reached into his inner clothing pocket to pull out his Shinobu ID, passing it to the man as he finished speaking," I must say that the village definitely looks different that it was once described to me. Is all of this recent?," he'd wait of course until their identification was given back and the elder gentleman had answered his question before doing anything else.

An inquisitive hum would escape his lips at the answer of Han before looking back to Nobouru," I will have to keep that in mind for a potentially good idea for our own village. Thank you for dealing with us sir," and with that unless Han had anything else to add Kiseragi would begin to head into the college.

Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna] Empty Re: Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna]

Sat Nov 21, 2020 7:48 pm
Han would slide the ID’s a little closer to himself so that he could properly read them, and as he began to pull out the visitation permits the Kumogakure shinobi, apparently the Raikage if this ID was anything to go by, made note of how different Suna looked. Heh, of course it would look different to what he remembers, the last time he had laid eyes on it would likely have been when Sunagakure was still part of their fledgling empire. As Han began to fill out the permits he would begin to speak again, a ghost of a smirk on his wrinkled face

“I can’t say I’m surprised that it seems so different from what was described, Sunagakure has changed and grown a lot since it was liberated from the control of Kumogakure. Your predecessors left this village in a very bad state, to the point I would honestly say that calling it a great village would have been an insult to the others… but all broken things can be repaired, and that is exactly what happened here. Since the village began booming once more expansion and growth have been almost nonstop, and almost everything that was old has been remade stronger and safer than it was before.” The older man would explain, occasionally glancing up towards the two Kumo envoys as he was filling out their visitation permits.

Once they were completely filled out Han would smile towards the two shinobi as he slid them out alongside their ID’s

“And there we have it fella’s, be sure to keep those with you at all times while you’re in the village, and before you leave just be sure to return them to me or whoever else is guarding the gates. Once again, welcome to Sunagakure and thank you for coming to attend the Kage Summit.” The older man would say, closing his eyes and inclining his head respectfully to both men

Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna] Empty Re: Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna]

Sun Nov 22, 2020 8:31 am
The newly appointed Raikage commented on an idea he had for the Kumogakure; personally, Kaito failed to see how a desert village's infrastructure would've aided the Lord in coming up with an idea to improve the storm land's village, except if it was to take the natural geography and biome into consideration when crafting defenses for the village.

Kiseragi made a comment about how the village looked different from what it had been described to him, and on that note both he and Kaito agreed; in his short service as a Jonin after Kutari first left the village, the redhead had gotten into reading as part of his self-imposed training regiment to deal with the bureaucratic side of things, and he had learned much and more, including Kumogakure's advances across the world and the fist they clenched around the nation's throats.

A wasted effort.

In their hubris, they had stretched themselves too thin, unable to hold any territories. The terror incarnate Kenshin razed their borders, eliminating any Kumogakure forward positions, sending the heads of their soldiers to remind the Lightning Lords of their incompetence. Then finally, he scorched the Hidden Cloud's presence from the Wind Country. Nothing could be done about it; at the same time, Nobunaga threatened Kumogakurian supremacy, before being put down by the Young Conqueror, while Kirigakure lead a joint army of their own and vassal forces to stomp out Kenshin from Sunagakure before Kumo could properly retaliate. The story was convoluted and a lot of fiction seemed to blend with reality, likely misinformation campaigns meant to destabilize a proper counter attack. Not that Kumo could've done anything about it.

What good is to conquer the world if you can't defend your own land?

Kenshin might've proven to be a good Raikage; worship of strength is commonplave in the Land of Lightning, and even if its citizens can't see beyond the basic understanding of Strength to enjoy the more refined ways of its application, Kenshin would've surely occupied a pedestal within their dreams if he did not haunt their nemightmares already. Yet he had chosen to attempt the recovery of Sunagakure after expunging Kumo's presence; there was no evidence to support whether he was responsible for the current state of the village though. On the affermatch of Kirigakure's assault, it was reported that the Water and Fire Countries forces put the country through sword and fire, and not much was known afterwards.

Of course, there was evidence to support that someone did in fact rebuild the place. But Kaito did not appreciate the comments about Kumogakure's effect on the land while obfuscating the effects of posterior action. Was the old man trying to taunt the ninja before him? A foolish game to be played, but it was just that: foolish. Sunagakure had suffered the fate they had deserved, much like Kumo did later on. They were weak, and they were taken advantage of. If the old man was trying to imply it was Kumogakure's fault for the sorry state the village had been in, Kaito could've confirmed that for him. They had sent killers, not masons.

Even though the elder appeared to want to bait a reaction out of the Kumogakurian ninja, Kaito understood the implications of tension should he reply with their side of events in what regarded the latest invasion of Suna. It was just more likely the man assumed the last they had heard of this village had been in regards to their own occupation. No point in wasting their breath; the man had not insulted them anyway, by pointing out that at one point Kumogakure held Sunagakure's fate in their hands. Moreover, Kaito had been warned not to embarrass the village, and if the Kage wanted he could defend the "honor" of the village, whatever that was. He never had the chance to ask Nobunaga, or the four Kumogakurian ninjas killed by the Young Conqueror that night, what their opinion of honor was. When he killed Ghost as he lay down in that hospital bed, he never wondered what his opinion in honor might've been. Honor did not cross his mind when he tried to assassinate Zento for trying to take his rank.

Honor was a tool to a ninja, to be used in their favor against their adversaries, should they be stupid enough to hold on to it.

Another tool of the ninja was paranoia; in healthy doses, it would temper the mind and prevent it from going lax. In unhealthy doses, it would make friendly banter sound like provocation. Kaito held his tongue all the while the elder talked, maintaining his composure as cryptic as it had been, the black pupil and iris of the Uchiha eyeing him stoically. As he gave them back the documents along a visitor's permit, he thanked them for their presence with a smile and a bow. More mockery? Who cared. Not Kaito; at least that was the impression he tried to give. He retrieved the document with an emotionless "thanks", and prepared to follow in the footsteps of his Kage onto the village.

Silly geriatric menace. Tricks are for kids.

Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna] Empty Re: Clouds O'er Sunagakure [Noboru, Kiseragi, Suna]

Sun Nov 22, 2020 10:57 am
"Predecessors?"

A wry chuckle came from his lips as he shook his head and was honestly kind of offended that the elder shinobi called them as such," They were stains on the once...somewhat reputable history of our village. I know one cannot simply change their past, especially with what they did to this village, but their...bigotry and negligence also ruined our home as well. I for one am glad that Sunagakure is in its own hands, but thank you for your hospitality towards us sir," once the pass was given to him along with his Shinobi ID, he would nod for Noboru to follow him before giving the elder shinobi a respectful nod and heading toward the location of the Kage Summit.
