99 Bottles of Beer
Tue May 04, 2021 12:16 am
Somewhere in an alleyway in tanbogakure, splattering vomit could be heard hitting the side of a metal garbage bin. Tanbogakure Sake was brewed strong, and Fujimaru had drank far to much of it. Now he was a little lost, kind of confused, and very drunk. "Where the hell is this inn?" He'd say to himself between rounds of hurling. The young traveler had left Shimita's bar about an hour ago and had been wandering the streets of the developing village for some time now. He was sober enough to remember that Yasahiro had given him directions to the inn, but drunk enough that he couldn't recall them for the life of him. Screw it, he thought to himself, as he plopped onto the cold dirt ground of the alleway.
"I'll just nap here, I can find the inn in the morning"
He flopped to his side pressed his cheek against the dirt and shut his eyes, letting the light fade to dark, and his consciousness into dreams. He was having a pleasant dream of being back home in the land of hot springs, helping Hideo on the farm. They'd just finished fencing a new yard for cattle and were talking on a hill about how much the farms addition would help them in the coming years when fujimaru stumbled and began to fall into a spiraling tumble, crashing repeatedly against the dirt and the friction hurt. Like Really hurt
Fujimaru who hadn't been asleep long enough to sober up, woke in a drunken stupor to his face being dragged through the dirt out of the alleyway and into the main street of the village.
"I don't care where you're going kid but you cant stay here. This is my alleyway, now get lost" A coarse voice would say before fujimaru felt himself get tossed into the street. Frustrated the impulsive Uchiha would turn to face the assailant, preparing to yell at the man for treating him so poorly, but when he turned all he saw was an adorable shiba inu wearing a cute blue jacket sitting in the alleyway. He confusedly looked to the left, and to the right, but could not find anyone who might have thrown him around.
Had he imagined it?
Who the hell did that?
He'd ask himself rhetorically, before the same voice spoke again. "Quit talking to yourself kid, its downright weird" The dog said. Well thats kind of ru- WAIT A MINUTE DID THAT DOG JUST TALK. Fujimaru began to push himself further away from the dog while still on the ground.
"D-Did you just talk?" He'd ask, hoping not to get a response. "Oh good, you have ears... Which means you heard me the first time when I told you to scram" The dog barked, repeating his earlier Suggestion. Fujimaru blinked and paused for a moment, then sprung up, brushed the dirt of his clothes and turned away from the dog. "Nope. Not happening. Never drinking again" He'd say out loud before stepping back onto the street and away from the alley, but not before he heard "And the inn is to the left you drunken numbskull"
MAN THAT DOG IS MEAN
He'd think as he remembered that dogs were supposed to be mans best friend. He'd sigh as he quickened his pace and took a left at the first intersection, and finally laid eyes on the inn Yasahiro and the dog had told him about. The inn was called the rustic inn, and seemed to be a fitting description of the establishment. The paint on the building was peeling, the roof had a rotten hole in it, and one of the windows was shattered. All in all the place looked cheap, which was good because fujimaru was unemployed, his pockets did not run deep, and he had spent far more at the bar on alchohol then he had any right to.
Exhausted he'd take a step inside and be greeted by the receptionist, who apparently could easily tell he'd been sleeping in an alleyway. "Rough night pal? she'd inquire, gesturing to his dirt stained clothing. "Long story, head killing me, you guy's got any beds?" he'd manage to mutter with only a minor amount of slurring. The lady didn't seem to be phased by it, drunken antics were rather routine in her establishment. "Of course, that is our business after all" she'd say tossing a key from behind the counter. Fujimaru promptly lifted his hand to catch it, but watched it whizz past as he missed it entirely and it clattered against the floor.
"Right. I suppose I'll get that"
"Your rooms on the second floor sir, room 8 your first payment is due tomorrow morning. Enjoy your stay!"
She'd say in a manner so monotonal it led Fujiimaru to believe the conversation had been scripted out by management, he paid it no mind as he hunted down his keys and gave her a half hearted reply.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah"
He struggled up the old creaky staircase, nearly tumbling down a few times before he managed to make it to his suite. The room itself was a little nicer then the rest of the building, it looked to be recently dusted, the bed was made and the view overlooked the many rice fields which surrounded the village. Not that Fujimaru was in a state to appreciate any of that at all, his eyes instead locked instantly on the bed. He'd been traveling for days, he was drunk, and he was tired.
He walked to the base of the bed and flopped face first into the pillow before for the second time tonight, he drifted into a peaceful slumber. He'd have time enough tomorrow to figure out how to make ends meet, and fund his travels. For now all that really mattered was getting some rest, and gathering energy for the hell of a hangover he was gonna have when he woke up the next morning.
as his thoughts faded to nothing and sleep took its hold of him, all that was left to hear in the room was the soft hum of his breathing, and the occasional confused murmer about a talking dog in an alleyway.
