Guess Who's Back [Village Entrance]
Tue May 18, 2021 11:53 pm
The sky was cloudy when Gonk first caught a glimpse of the gates of Kirigakure.
“Looks like there’s going to be a storm,” Gonk thought as he gazed at the approaching grey clouds. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary so far, but Gonk had no idea what the problem was, so he didn’t let down his guard. There were several people near the gates, and none of them seemed alarmed in any way. They appeared to be ordinary people going about their ordinary business. There was no extra security either. The scene was almost exactly the same as when Gonk had left two months ago.
“Well it looks like I can probably rule out village takeover as the reason why Grandfather called me back here.” Gonk thought as he grew nearer to the gates. “So what does that leave? For a message so urgent, there doesn’t seem to be much of a problem. Of course I’m not even in the village yet. Chances are it’s something that concerns the Hoshigaki clan specifically. It might not necessarily be something that’s devolved into actions quite yet. But I’m not sure what would have brought upon that kind of situation.”
“You know, you never told me why we had to rush back,” Momo loudly told Gonk from his back. “That’s an awfully rude thing to do if you ask me.”
Gonk sighed, putting his speculation aside for a moment. “I already told you I don’t really know why I was asked to return.”
“You must know something,” Momo said, agitated. “Or else you wouldn’t have left the others behind in such a hurry. Hell, you almost forgot me!”
Gonk thought for a moment before responding.
“Look, my grandfather, the clan head, told me to come back immediately, and it concerned the future of the clan. So I did. That’s honestly all I know.” Gonk told Momo, keeping his voice low. “Now shush, we’re approaching the gate.”
As he drew closer Gonk pulled out his identification papers, and prepared to show them to whoever would let him in. He also kept vigilant for any danger or clues that could explain why he was called back on such short notice. Gonk wanted to believe his Grandfather had a reason to ask for his return, but the more he looked around, the more Gonk started to think that perhaps it was a setup of some sort. Either way, Gonk wasn’t one to shy from danger. He would meet any threat head on.

Returning to the village of Kirigakure, a ship that had been harboring the Mizukage had docked in the nearby harbor. Guests started to shuffle out of two exits in a single file as the Mizukage himself stared out at them ensuring nothing went wrong before he also exited the vehicle. Looking at the weather, it was the same as ever, an artificially generated storm that would hamper most citizens and shinobi that wasn't native to this village. Luckily, most people that came off of the boat had been Kirigakure natives so it was mostly fine. Wearing his Mizukage Hat and robes with his red, steam armor underneath, he was not currently being escorted by his bodyguard, Keita as he had went ahead to go and teach the youth or something. He didn't mind it as he wasn't some sort of defenseless child without him and even values having some time alone to think to himself.
It didn't take long for him to exit as he walked towards the gates of Kirigakure. Traveling to other nations was in a sense quite fun, if he could ignore what obvious hostiles and carry on his sightseeing activities. One day, he'd like to go to other nations as he pleased just to sightsee. For now, instead of worrying about trivial things like that, he takes it one step at a time before having delusions of grandeur. Arriving at the gates, the Mizukage found he had to wait in order to enter like everybody else. He could just skip the line but he loved the feeling of being treated equally to his villagers as a sign of order. Sometimes, he even got to meet new and interesting people. For example as he was hanging around, he had spotted a youth talking to his pet monkey.
Although he couldn't quite hear what the conversation was about, he was surprised the monkey could respond with human language. This made him wonder if certain animals had a capacity to learn. Turning his head slightly, he could see his companion Ram, pouting a bit as his show of being impressed with another animal made him envious. Chuckling nervously, the Mizukage extended his right arm backwards in order to pet Ram, whispering, "Don't worry buddy, you'll always be my favorite regardless of if you can speak or not." With that, Ram had even smiled, making a weak purring noise similar to young armadillo when they are nursing. With that, the Mizukage would attempt to enter the village unless he was interrupted.

As Gonk drew nearer to the gate, he heard a voice directly behind him, followed by a strange purring sound. While he didn;t suspect anything of it, Gonk decided to glance back just to check what it was. He was surprised to see an armadillo perched on a man, evidently the source of the purring noise. But even more surprising was the man himself, for he appeared to be the Mizukage.
Gonk had to do a double take to make sure he wasn’t imagining things, but the man was in the signature robes of the Mizukage.
“Lord Mizukage,” Gonk said as he suddenly dropped into a keel. “It’s an honor to meet you.”
Gonk had no reason to think the Mizukage would have any idea who he was, but he didn’t care. Meeting him was the first step in getting recognized. The Mizukage wore his white robes as well as a suit of red metal armor that obscured most of his face. It seemed to be even sturdier than Gonk’s own armor, which he currently wore. Save for the helmet, which was hanging from his waist.
“Oh right, I’m supposed to tell him about Kita as well as the thing he asked the Nova agent.” Gonk remembered after a moment.
“So you’re the Mizukage?” Momo asked, sounding unimpressed.
“Momo!” Gonk said, angrily. “Show some respect!”
Momo said nothing, but looked at the ground, sulking a bit.
“What’s his problem?” Gonk wondered, but he would have to save his questioning for later.
“I’m terribly sorry for the manners of my monkey lord Mizukage,” Gonk said, still kneeling.
“Your monkey?” Momo muttered under his breath.
Gonk gave him a withering stare before continuing.
“I just returned from Hoshigakure and I have some information to give you. It regards one of the Kirigakure participants in the chunin exams and also a Nova agent who was looking for information for you.”
Gonk wasn’t sure if the Mizukage would want to speak about these matters privately or not, so he remained silent for now, waiting for a response from the man.

As Kizmaru walked towards the gates to check in to the village, he was approached by a younger male with blue skin. The Mizukage assumed he was a Hoshigaki by default instead of a sickly person. When the boy was in front of him, he had called the Mizukage by his title which only made him raise his chin slightly, when addressed. If the boy had some form of request, it was best he spit it out now. The lad began by saying it was an honor to meet him in which the Mizukage had made a triumphant scoff. He then turned his head to the monkey who he had heard previously speak asking if he was the Mizukage in a disapproving tone. This made him chuckle, followed by a whistle as Ram poked his head out from behind the Mizukage's neck. After a brief moment, Ram had begun to glare at the monkey. The Mizukage had an audible cough in order to divert attention away from the monkey.
The boy then reprimanded his pet monkey before apologizing to him. "No worries. It must be difficult having him as a pet. I'm impressed he can speak though. Must be tough having entertainment you can't reign in. Don't worry, I won't let my battle COMPANION harm him in any way," the Mizukage said, emphasizing the word 'companion', directly looking at the boy's monkey. From a quick glance, he could tell it wasn't suited for anything else other than a clever tongue. It wasn't even worth Ram's time to try and protest. He then listened to the boy's message in order to find out why he was approached in the first place. The boy had claimed he had returned from Hoshigakure and he was instructed to give him information regarding some matter.
The boy had a head on his shoulder remaining quiet before saying anything further from prying ears but if the information was told to a mere Genin, then it must not have been very confidential to begin with. "Continue," the Mizukage had said wondering what information he could possibly have for him.

Gonk was relieved to find the Mizukage was able to laugh off Momo’s disrespect, but unfortunately the same couldn’t be said about Momo.
“I’m not a pet, nor am I entertainment!” Momo shouted, furious. “I would be able to battle like your precious ‘companion’, if this dunce would find the time to train me! Also, the reason I can talk and use chakra is because of you! I was one of the slaves in the R&D department until I started a revolution with my friend. The village sent this incompetent clown and another bozo after me so we were able to negotiate our freedom. But what about the rest of the monkeys? They still work as slaves under your rule as I once did! Now I’m leaving. See you later Gonk.”
With those final words Momo leapt off Gonk’s shoulder onto a nearby tree branch and started swinging away, quickly disappearing from sight.
During Momo’s rant, Gonk could only watch in shocked fear as the situation went from bad to worse. A moment passed before Gonk was able to speak again.
“Lord Mizukage, I’m terribly, terribly sorry.” Gonk said, his head almost touching the ground. “Momo was wrong to speak to you in that way and I will punish him for it.”
Gonk kept his head to the ground for another few moments before speaking to the Mizukage again. Gonk’s words seemed to intrigue the Mizukage as he was instructed to go on.
Gonk very slowly rose from the ground and keeping his voice low, told the Mizukage what he knew.
“Well I suppose I should start with the less complicated matter.” Gonk told the Mizukage. “The Nova agent named Akabayashi Terumi says he has not uncovered any information on the matter you asked him to look into. That’s all I know about that, so moving on to the second thing. As you know, I participated in the chunin exams along with fellow genin Ban Hozuki and Kita Hajime. We were under the watch of Chunin Murata. Oh right, I’m Gonk Hoshigaki. Sorry, I just realized I never introduced myself. Anyways, this second event involves Kita. He kinda, uh… got arrested.” Gonk would pause for a moment, thinking about how to explain the situation before continuing. “You see he allegedly got an illegal transplant by an S rank missing ninja who was residing in the village. I think his name was Stein. Anyways, the same Nova agent as before, Akabayashi, arrested both him and a participant from Konohagakure, a young girl named Fu. I figured the Hogokage would have informed you, but Akabayashi asked me to tell you about it so I guess not. Murata’s currently handling it, so I’m not too concerned. After all, the Hogokage can’t do anything too bad to him, right?” While he didn’t exactly know it himself, Gonk was worried about Kita, and wanted reassurance that he would be alright. In truth, he felt terrible about leaving him behind in such a situation, but he didn’t regret it. If there was an issue with the issue or clan, it took priority.
“Oh also, would you by any chance know about any problems directly or otherwise concerning the Hoshigaki clan?” Gonk decided it would be best not to fully explain his reason for asking unless requested, as he didn’t want to make things more complicated. If there was an issue, Gonk didn’t want the Mizukage to have to fix it for him, and if there wasn’t, he didn’t want to drag the Mizukage into their clan’s internal affairs. If his Grandfather wanted to kill him, then so be it.
But in the meantime, Gonk would wait for the Mizukage’s response to the new information and question.

Re: Guess Who's Back [Village Entrance]
Mon May 24, 2021 1:42 am
The Mizukage simply reached his right arm around the back of his neck in order to rub it with moderate confusion. He couldn't say he was aware of any monkey oppressions going on in his village although he's heard stories. He wasn't sure if he should look into this or not but he felt partially responsible for it. Either way, now that the nuisance had left, Ram went back to sitting quietly on Kizmaru's .back, hanging off his shoulder slightly. There was an awkward silence between the Mizukage and the genin before the Genin had began to deliver his message shortly after his apology from his mouthy companion. The genin had informed the Mizukage of the doctor he had visited not too long ago about a matter that was discussed between them. The message was the doctor hadn't found out anything of a certain doujutsu he had inquired about in his visit of Hoshigakure. Well, the was unfortunate news indeed but it was trivial to him. he'd simply just hope the doctor would either spend more time on the matter or he'd find the information from elsewhere. All in all, it just means his search for knowledge had to continue.
Afterwards, the genin had continued, saying he had a second message to give to his Kage. The Mizukage simply nodded at this as he listened to him some more. The Hoshigaki went on to inform him, he was one of the participants of the ongoing chuunin exams. if he was standing here in front of him, this would mean that he had lost his battle and was ejected from the competition altogether. That was a shame as this particular one seemed pretty strong. He said he had also participated with Ban Hozuki who he was familiar with and somebody named Kita who he had not met before. He was informed that one of the village Genin had been arrested for breaking one of Hoshigakure's laws by buying a transplant from a man named Stein. Raising his right hand, placing it onto the steel mask that covered his chin, the Mizukage had pondered if he saw a Kiri Genin at the shop while he was disguised as a Jounin in Hoshi. He couldn't recall anybody other than the cop and the seller themselves so it must have happened before he had entered.
He was always aware of the law but he just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Fortunately, the cop was lenient enough for him to let him have one last purchase to be on his way. Letting out an audible sigh, the Mizukage had said, "Alright, I'll keep this in mind. If Murata is currently there, then I shouldn't have much to worry about. They should be able to handle the situation. However if it takes too long, I guess I'll have to go over there myself and see what the fuss is about," The Mizukage had responded to Gonk. Lastly, Gonk had asked him a peculiar question about clan affairs. As far as the Mizukage had known, there was nothing going on in the way of problems and told Gonk just that.

Gonk was extremely relieved to find neither Momo's nor his head in a basket after the series of incidents. The Mizukage looked a bit confused, but not angry. He listened well as Gonk told his story, and never interrupted. Only occasionally making small reactions. Once Gonk finished his report, the Mizukage seemed a bit annoyed, and gave a short response saying he wasn’t too worried about it but would act if need be.
Gonk’s shoulders slumped when he heard the news that the Mizukage knew nothing about any problems.
“I really wish that was good news,” Gonk thought gloomily. “But this all but confirms my suspicions about my grandfather. Oh well, I’ll have to plan my next move carefully.”
“Thank you for that information Lord Mizukage,” Gonk said with a bow. “But I must be going now, it was an honor getting to speak with you.”
If the Mizukage had no more need for him, Gonk would turn around and continue to walk up to the gate, hoping to be let in without any fuss.
“Where should I go now?” Gonk wondered, concerned. “If I head straight to Grandfather like he asked, chances are I’ll be ambushed. Giving him the advantage will do no good. What I have to do is get into contact with Wakame. If there’s an urgent problem chances are he would know about it. Even though he’s disgraced by the clan head, he still has information outlets. If he further confirms my suspicions I’ll lay low for a while and try to figure out how to take any enemies down. While I think Grandfather is powerful, chances are he hired mercenaries. The smart move would be to hire some to hunt me and some to guard him. So I’ll have to be sure not to be seen when I enter the village.” A thought occurred to Gonk. “Wait how do I know they’re not watching me now?” Gonk looked around but saw nobody acting conspicuous. “It’s too late to transform now but I need to change appearances as soon as I enter the village. Turning into a mouse always seems to work…” Gonk’s thoughts trailed off due to him finally being up to enter the village. He already had his identification papers out so all he had to do was show them to the gate guard and he should be good to go.

Wishing he could be of more help to the boy with his plight, the Mizukage had simply apologized for his lack of information and assured the boy if he heard anything about this matter, he'd be the first to know, whatever it might be. With that, the boy would bid farewell and the Mizukage gave a slight nod as he watched the boy walk away. Well, that was something, he thought to himself. It was nice to know there were strong, up and coming individuals like him in his village,. Even though he didn't win the competition, he wouldn't mind promoting him and teaching him a technique or two that will help him out later in life. For now, he'd just focus on entering the village, with whoever was on guard duty today as it seems as if Romp isn't currently present.

Saya seemed to have a string of interesting luck. First she'd happened to be guarding the village as her new friend showed up, and now it was none other then the Mizukage himself who would show up during her shift atop the walls of Kirikagure. Unfortunately for her, she'd never actually met the leader of the village she'd been sent tot years ago, so there was little chance of her actually recognizing him or having any indication of the importance of her current task. Let's see how she handles that.
"Welcome to Kirikagure, please have your indentification paperwork ready and have prepared your reasoning for entering the village today. " It was Ai who greeted their leader, her incredible craftsmanship more then enough that most would have no clue she was a puppet. The illusion failed once one noticed the blue strings controling her though. High up at the top of the wall Saya glanced down as she allowed her sister to take care of things. She laid stretched out high above ground level, shifting her fingertips to control her family.
"And May I have your name and reason for entering the village sir? Please make sure that you have no contraband or unapproved weaponry. "

A moment before the gate guard had approached Gonk it started drizzling. Being a Hoshigaki, Gonk didn’t mind this little shower, and furthermore, it would make anybody tailing him stand out more. When the guard on duty asked for Gonk’s name and reason for entering the village, Gonk answered a bit anxiously, as he didn’t want to stay out in the open for any longer than he had to.
“My name is Gonk Hoshigaki and my reason for entering the village is because I’m a genin of Kirigakure, returning from the chunin exams.” As he spoke, Gonk showed his shinobi ID to the puppet, though Gonk still believed he was talking to a human. “I have no contraband, and my only weapons are my sword,” Gonk gestured to Kiribachi, which was strapped to his back, “and my ninja tools.” It was then Gonk noticed the chakra strands attached to the guard.
“Wait a minute, are you a puppet?” Gonk asked, surprised. He hadn’t had much experience with puppets, besides Kasumi...
“Pull yourself together!” Gonk inwardly yelled at himself. “Now's not the time to be dwelling on the past. There are killers after you for god's sake. Focus on surviving now, worry about the past later.”
After putting himself back into line, Gonk would wait for the puppet to explain itself, and to be let into the village.
