Following a Rumor

Enrai had been traveling around helping out smaller villages on the way towards Suna, and he had finally traversed through the desert to get to the village gates. These gates were something that weren't really gates per se, but they could easily function as them. This was the first time he had seen such high walls, and he was sort of in awe of it. He was going to stand there in awe for a little while longer, but it was definitely too hot to do so. He was not under the actual cover of the mountain, so he had no shade. He headed towards the gates and saw quite a few guards standing there, making sure that they checked everyone at the gates for their proper id, or some other way of getting into the gate, Enrai was not really sure about the proper procedure, he had not been in a village since he had fled from Volcano all those years ago, so he was unsure about what he was getting into, and hoped that he would not have to run from these people. He was hoping that these people were as hospitable to missing ninjas as the rumors said.

Han, from his position in the left-side guard post just inside The Cleft, would check the identification of the last merchant in this caravan, before filling in a Visitation Permit and sliding it out to him, along with a rather generic reminder to not cause any trouble while in the village, but really… no untrained people would screw around in Sunagakure. As they made their way down the singular entryway Han would call the next visitor forth… although when he actually glanced in the way of the man entering he nearly did a double take. Did the kid have some long lost brother out there or something? Because this guy looked like a mirror image of Ken back when he lived in Hoshigakure… he was less skinny, less pale and somewhat shorter, but aside from that… Jeez. Talk about creepy… he would only hope this guy was less of a prick than the former Kazekage.

Assuming the man approached the gate when called, Han would eye him somewhat strangely through bushy silver brows.

“Gonna need your name and reason for visiting. If you have any form of ID, be it a basic passport or Shinobi ID, I’ll need to see that as well. If you don’t it’s not an issue, I’ll just need to mark it down on your entry permit.” The grizzled older man would explain, his tone indicating that the greeting was something he said so often he didn’t even need to think about it.

As Enrai was waiting in line, soon it was his turn, and it seemed that the man taking everyone's id and issuing entry and visitor permits looked at him funny for a moment, before saying his piece. The man wanted to know if he had any id on him, or if he needed to fill out any additional paperwork due to him being a missing ninja, he would assume. After the older man asked him, Enrai walked up to him with a big smile on his face. "Hello, my name is Enrai, I don't really have a surname, I was originally from Volcano, but that doesn't really count anymore, right?" Enrai would ask as he was looking at the grizzled man. It seemed that there might be another round of questioning, and Enrai was fine with answering it, he hadn't really talked about himself in quite a while, and it was good to get some of these things off his chest. To most people, he would just be a refugee from Volcano, since most of it was now a smoldering crater, and the records of him being a missing ninja from that village would likely not exist anymore. Although, he looked very similar now as he did as a kid, so it wouldn't be hard to put two and two together if one had seen his child picture before.

Still, after this, Enrai continued. "Is there anything else I need to tell you? Oh... the only thing I've really done is pass the ninja academy, so I don't have a significant rank either, or didn't... you know what I mean, haha." Enrai was boisterous and happy when talking to the man, and might have said a bit too much about himself, but he didn't really care, and one could easily tell that he had not a whole lot to hide when looking at him. Now he was just waiting on the man to say something or give him a pass, whatever the normal procedure was.

It was almost… wrong seeing a veritable clone of Ken smiling brightly and acting like a normal, well adjusted person. To Han, who had known The Ragdoll for years at this point, since he was an edgy little teen in fact… this was both strange and somewhat heartwarming to see. Ahh, if only.

“Nah, Volcano was destroyed and all its records lost, and it’s fine. Just means I gotta give a brief but detailed description of you on the permit.”

With that said the old man would fill out the permit, detailing the time of Enrai’s entry, the day, and writing a small paragraph with a fairly detailed description of him, including both his height and the stitched scars on his face. With that done Han would place the newly forged Visitation Permit on his desk and slide it out through the slot near the bottom for Enrai to take.

“Welcome to Sunagakure, before I let you go though I’ll give you a bried rundown of the important rules. No fighting in the village unless it is in the training grounds or The Bloodworks, the former for friendly matches and the latter if you’ve got a beef that will end with one of you dying. No stealing from anyone within the village, doesn’t matter who it is or how small of a thing you take, steal anything and you lose an arm. Finally, make sure you read the visitation permit since it’ll tell you about the areas you can and can’t go. The Academy is off limits to all outsiders, and training grounds 6 through 10 are all Suna shinobi only.”

The older man would explain, before giving a small smirk.

“With that, once again, welcome to Sunagakure. Try to enjoy your stay lad.”

Enrai was excited as he was listening to the man talk, as it was great that he would be allowed into the village, plus he was hearing a bunch of stuff that he had never heard of before. He had suddenly learned that there were places he couldn't access because he was not an official suna ninja, and that was fine. He was going to just relax here hopefully, and so far it seemed that this village lived up to the rumor that missing ninjas could sit here for a while without being instantly murdered or caged. Well, this was at least if you weren't classified as a missing ninja from suna, it seemed pretty obvious that they would just murder people that disobeyed things in the village enough to where they would be kicked out. He had heard that there is no stealing in the village or he would lose a hand, Enrai still wore a smile and just nodded over and over. He was trying to internalize everything, so that he wouldn't forget some of these rules in the village. After a bit, the man handed over a card, and so Enrai grabbed it and looked at it. It had a detailed description of him which he thought was pretty damned accurate, making him think that the guards at the front gate weren't just random people, and that they needed to be able to accurately describe people, it seemed like a skill one would need to practice to get good at it like this older man.

"Thanks a lot sir, have a good day!" Enrai would tell the man, before nonchalantly walking into the village, trying to hurry out of the way so that he wasn't blocking anyone's path or holding up the line while walking around.
