Yuri's broken dreams [Makoto, Mitsu]

Monument Mopping, Bank Maintenance, and Pet Food Delivery

Being a Shinobi. A high honor, and Yuri was being honored by even being given the chance to join those prestigious numbers. Yes...with the tight pinch of her headband and the salt stinging her nose, the reality of finally joining their number brought a year to her eyes. At least, that was what she wants to tell herself, but as the years stream down her cheeks and she finally opens her eyes, the crushing weight of reality lands on her shoulders.

The numb feeling of a straw broom in her hand, the sight of a statue that was mottled on the face with white-brownish marks that would reek if they weren't days old, and the empty chip bags and drink cans around the statues base. Cleaning duty....her dreams of finally becoming a warrior were gilded in glory and marked with prestige, but now here she was cleaning up trash. Her jaw tight clenched as slowly her lips force themselves into a smile.

'Every task that needed to be done, needed to be done right, and every bit of work done correctly brought honor to oneself.'

That was what her father told her, so even this was important right? Swallowing the lump of despair more bitter than her plums down her throat, she raises her broom to the air. With fire in her eyes she cheers.

"LET'S GO!"

Earning more odd looks from passerbys as she goes from despair, to getting worked up, quickly deflating upon realizing the scene she was making. Sighing to herself as she puts her hands in her pockets. Still there was one thing though, wasn't she supposed to be getting help today? There was no way she was getting through all her missions today, plus she feels lik someone told here there'd be others.

Trying to recall the memories, all she could think of was the background noise of someone talking to her as she thought about what sword she could get with the money she'd earn...

Damnit.

Among the many duties of a shinobi was...cleaning? Truth be told, Makoto much preferred it to death threats or murder, but admittedly this was a bit of a step down from her first mission. Like every mission since had been. Idly, she wonders if that wasn't kind of the point...

"Child, you missed a spot." Her God reminds her, resting coiled along her spine. She looks around calmly, scanning her surroundings-

Oh, there's someone else. Wait, the stain! Where's the stain... She spots it, brandishing a wet cloth and the determination only someone who's cleaned a large temple from a young age can dedicate to scrubbing things. Still, the boy with the straw broom must be one of the people here to help her, so wouldn't it be polite to start a conversation? Would it be more polite to remain quiet? No, this was very boring, so at least conversation would be something. Plus, he looked young, so really, they must've just graduated... The last time they got a fresh graduate on a mission, they were so shy.

"...This is really an awful amount of work. It should be cleaned more often." She says to the air, vaguely in the other person's direction.

Passing by the street leading to the statue was another shinobi, wearing some simple house robes with a mop of black hair and two white eyes, currently holding a very angry simian underneath their arm. The simian wrapped up in a scroll to keep it held and contained while its angry monkey screams are kept muffled.

Though on seeing the newly small ninja and Makoto Mitsu smiles a bit, sure he was still a genin but he still remembered having to go through this and how awful it was. He heads over next to her, waving "Heya makoto! You too new girl. Need a bit of help? I know how much of a pain doing this one without much help can be" sure the point was respect for the past and your own will but.. honestly it was a pain in the ass of a mission that usually just left you grossed out. Helping them out was the least he could do.

He sets down the bound primate nearby although it keeps trying to inch worm away. So running through a few hand seals the monkey is sealed away into the scroll. Now he could actually work. "You a new Genin by the way? Don't think I saw you before." He asked the new Genin. He knew makoto but she was a new face.

People! She wasn't doing all of this alone! Dusting off the front of her shirt with her right hand the word "MOTIVATED" was embossed on the front. Snapping her finger and waving at the new people with a one sided grin on her face. "Yeah! I just graduated actually."

With a spinning flourish she rests the broom over her shoulder, like it was a sword of renown, as she starts grabbing the random trash off the ground, the sharp crinkling of wrappers and clinging cans marking each new acquisition. Then begins the arduous task of taking it a few meters away to the trash can...

Really what was wrong with people?

Watching a passerby drop an empty can of tea on the ground as they walk by, the sense that Yuri's eyes were about to pop out of her head was palpable. Each muscle in her neck was coiled in tension as she walks up, picks up the can and dumps it. Really at this point she was worrying for the spirit of the people of Kirigakure, such Laziness. Scratching her head, she sighs to herself. "Whatever I guess..." Going back to trash cleanup, she turns her attention back to the two nin infront of her.

"So Makoto and...who're you? Are you two on these missions with me. It's gonna be a looooooong day if so."

"Yoshida Makoto." She gives a small bow, stretching a little to still clean the stains. "It should be just the four- I mean, the three of us for the whole day, so let's keep our spirits high. It probably will just be a lot of busywork, which isn't too bad! It builds character, they always say."

Planting a foot onto the statue, she begins walking up it, the training she's done for so long in the waters of her family temple's lake coming in handy. Maybe if she keeps practicing she'll be able to hold herself like this with only one finger... Attaching the wet cloth to a stick as a makeshift mop, she begins to dutifully clean her way up, careful not to step too strongly. She had gotten a fair bit stronger with all the training lately, and it'd lead to a bit of an embarrassing accident and having to heal a few bruises on one of the temple handmaids.

"I hope the Academy wasn't too rough for you! It's mostly stuff like this for Genin, so don't get your hopes up too much." Makoto weakly jokes

"Mitsu Hyuuga. Soon to be chunin! Already have finished most of these missions already but figure it's always nice to help and meet the new Shinobi." He says it with a smile. "As for helping you out the rest of the day it's not like I have much more important going on. What's your name though?" Mitsu for his part does the cleaning in a different way.

A few hand seals and a puff of smoke leaves a large bird in the spot of Mitsu, grabbing a sponge and flying up to clean the head of the old Mizukage. Along side scaring and harassing any small birds that come nearby. Chasing them and cawing or screeching with talons barred to prevent them from adding any extra work for the three on the statue.

"The name is Yuri Karuma!". Finally the statue and the area around it was starting to look clean. If they kept this up the next mission could begin without too much trouble, the idea of a shiny new sword on her hip put a smile on Yuri's face as she continues. "The academy was nice, though some of the students were a bit pushy after classes though." Though that was probably just their way of being friendly, so she couldn't complain too much.

Rushing through the base of the statue she wraps up the last of the wrappers and slams them in the garbage bin with a grin of sheer victory. Resting the broom against the bench with a shoddy clunk, she puts her hands behind her head and stares at the statue. "So that's Xyxer or whatever their name is huh? I always heard of em but I never really remembered what they look like." There was a hint of displeasure as her brow twists into a grown, lips pursed and a hint of animosity to her glare.

"That he is, gonna just guess one of your other missions is delivering food to his old dogs too?" Mitsu floats back down to the ground before he reappears as his normal ninja self. "He was a rare sight in Kirigakure after he first came here to take over. Now we have our new mizukage though no ones honestly really sure where they came from" He picks up his scroll holding a monkey inside, rolling it up and putting it away somewhere into his robes.

"I've heard nothing but horrible things about him... And my predecessors didn't like him very much, from what I know." As far as Yul had told her, he fled human flesh to hounds and was, all in all, 'a total lunatic who should be struck down from the records of history, may the heavens spit upon his name and he be reborn as a snail', to quote the centipede. Her own opinion was, naturally, aligning with her god- just rather less flowery.

"Though, I suppose we should just be glad the hounds haven't gone feral and started trying to get their old meals back." Makoto shivers. "I've never been good with the things, actually, they terrify me."

"I'm pretty sure dogs wouldn't bite you, Makoto. Not twice, in any case. Take a deep breath and relax- if they have Genin doing it, it won't be too dangerous.

She quietly nods, whispering in response to the inaudible centipede. "If you say so..."

The Kirigakure Penitentiary. With Kirigakure's harsh criminal justice the jailhouse acted more as a bin for the unsalvageable in kirigakure. Everyone and their mother has a story of visiting the penitentiary and seeing some horror show barely through the bars. However on the inside? It seemed like a simple place. Calm, clean, stark white walls and floors with some guards allowing the genin team into the surprisingly clean kennels.

Mitsu rolling the meat up to the door as he had done with Shoko and Dana. Now he knew that the dogs wouldn't be too bad. They were massive but for the most part seemed fine since their owner had left. Or maybe that was just how they acted with Dana. Either way, with the cart wheeled up and lid taken off the smell of meat brings the dogs out. The first mizukage's hounds, massive dogs perking up their ears and noses as they smelled fresh meat. Mitsu lets one of the other two take their turn to feed first
