A Most Devious Plan [I/O]

“Alright, it looks like the last thing we need to do right now is to go to that ruin site and search around for whatever items and loot that we can find.” Grey suddenly said as he and the Doctor were walking away from the rather abrupt fire fighting operation that they had just been a part of. The building was essentially ruined from the fire and it would have to be torn down later, and Grey assumed that those old buildings were going to continue to get missions assigned to them so that ninja could come and knock them down fairly cheaply and efficiently. Grey waited for the Doctor’s input if he had any, before heading towards the old ruins site. There was quite a distance between them and the ruins, as they would have to go to the outskirts of what would be considered the village to perform the mission in the first place. Grey decided to strike up some casual conversation with his partner when he was sure that they were alone on one of the dirt roads that led to the ruin site. “So, how has your training been going? I saw that you were focusing on refining your body’s capabilities, eh? I’m just hoping to learn some of the more interesting aspects about how chakra can bend space and time.” Grey thought that speaking about what they were up to combat wise was a good decision. It would give each of them a feel for each other and perhaps how they fought, so that when push came to shove they would be able to defend each other a bit better. Because of the traveling into Hoshi thing that they did, Grey felt that he was going to be stuck with the Doctor, at least for a while so that they could grow stronger together. Eventually they wouldn’t need their disguises anymore and they could just be themselves, but that required power.

Gray had spoken up to Daiki and said their next task would be to search some ancient ruins in the outskirts of the village. "Well this is fine with me as I was kind of getting bored with this whole fire and rescue situation. Glad we're done here. Oh and of course, I'm glad nobody got hurt. As for the ruins, I hope we find some kind of long, lost treasure we could nab for ourselves and keep it without reporting it. Kekekek," Daiki had said laughing at the end there with his toothy grin. Walking away with Gray to their next destination, Daiki had wondered if they would be able to find anything interesting in the ruins they were about to go 'explore' they could keep for themselves in general. Well, he'd ponder about what to do if they actually managed to find anything useful. Walking along the dirt path, Gray had tried to make conversation about training, telling him he was trying to pick up Time and Space techniques. Well, he figured since they would partner up for a while, they should get some kind of understanding how the other fights. It would also be good to learn each other's specialties should one try to betray the other for whatever reason. 

While Daiki was rather "eccentric" he still practiced good business relationships with people of interest and currently, it would be in his best interest to work with Gray for as long as he could for he has found a kindred spirit. "Well I was, or was, a prominent Taijutsu user back in the day but after that, I had gone on to research on the human body, slacking in my training. Now I hope to regain the power I once had in order to handle certain business myself instead of relying on incompetent help such as highwaymen and bandits," responded Daiki. He had hoped that answer would suffice as he still wasn't too keen on revealing all of the information he possesses about himself at once. Continuing along the dirt road, they had discovered the ruins in front of them they were supposed to explore. Making their way to the entrance, it was already open as it seems the doors that once used to be there were no more. Now it just looks like a cave entrance to this rpg board game Daiki enjoyed playing as a teenager, called Dungeons and Druegars. Entering the ruins, Daiki had walked down a set of stairs in order to get this task over and completed with. More so to see if there was anything of value here that they could loot.

They walked over towards the ruins, having what Grey would consider a lovely conversation on the way there, and it seemed that his buddy the Doctor also had a bit of a past in regards to taijutsu, and that was good. He was currently training to regain his lost power, as muscles seemed to be lacking on the researchers, and so he must have really gotten into the medical field to shirk his responsibility to his body. Grey himself was barely competent with his own body, he just ate well and exercised normally so that his body was in the best condition without actually being strong. It was more like Grey was simply fit, instead of powerful like the Doctor was, but he didn’t need to be strong in his eyes. He just needed to concoct different poisons and medical techniques for different situations so that he could handle everything that came towards him with efficiency. This was why he was studying the effects chakra had on the space time continuum, as that seemed very powerful. “Oh, that’s good to hear! I’m glad someone competent is by my side, ya know?” Grey would say as they closed in closer to the ruins. The ruins were originally unearthed at the bottom of a marble quarry, and so the two of them would soon come to the side of a harshly sloped pit, with more walkable slope circling down into the center of the pit. The pit appeared to be the shape of an upside-down pyramid that was cut into the earth. At the bottom of the pit there seemed to be some sort of gate, dug almost all the way out of the ground, although there appeared to be a larger structure attached, the gate only opening to reveal stairs. There were a couple of the royal guards standing at the gate, preventing other people from getting too close.

Making his way down the stairs of the ancient ruins, the light from the sun was slowly fading as they traversed downwards into the upside down pyramid. Making his way to what seemed like the bottom, a pair of royal guards happened to be here before the two of them were. This slightly annoyed Daiki as they probably had already checked out most of the ruins but are still going to ask them to do so anyway. Well, nothing they could do about this now. It was in his best interest to introduce them as the takers of the mission to explore the ruins and just be on their way. "Hello there, we're the shinobi tasked with exploring these ruins. Here's our mission credentials. I hope you two have a wonderful day," Daiki had said with his cunning grin which seemed to be his default face. The two guards looked at each other as they had gotten an unpleasant feeling from him but had no real reason to stop them from entering as they had the appropriate paperwork. With that, the both of them stepped aside, allowing them to pass through the gates of the underground ruin and all of them to perform their task. At first, searching around was quite a bit of a pain in the ass for him since there was not much to go off of. Eventually, he had found what seemed to be a container for storing goods and valuables and his eyes lit up like a kid's when unwrapping presents. Running over towards it, Daiki attempted to open it but it was locked for obvious reasons. Afterwards, Daiki figured he could just break it open with a well placed punch in hopes of not damaging the goods inside of it. Proceeding with his plans, he had indeed broken the lock mechanism holding the container closed and out spilled the goodies that was being kept inside.

Grey wasn’t worried in the least about the two royal guards that were standing in front of the gate, as he knew that they were weirdly loyal to the royal family and the rules of the village. So when they walked u0p to the two and handed them the paperwork saying that the two of them had taken on the mission, all they got were a couple of weird stares, before they allowed the two inside of the doorway. In the doorway there were a set of stairs that led down into what could only be described as a large room. The first room was pretty big, and they almost immediately spotted some sort of chest, which the Doctor ran over two and smashed the lock off, spilling the contents of the chest out onto the floor. The contents made Grey furrow his brow with a bit of confusion and frustration. The chest was a bit of a letdown in its contents, at least for the two of them who had just started to explore this broken city, as it was a large number of scrolls. This would be useful information if there was some sort of jutsu stored in them, but Grey could tell when they fell out of the chest that they were just old things kept in the archive. This would probably be a really good discovery for the historians, seeing the recipes and the other historical texts that came out of the chest, but it was all fairly useless to shinobi. Grey still picked up some of them and looked through them, hopeful that there was something of use, but then sighed. “Unless you want to learn how to make ancient chili, this stuff’s useless.” Grey said, placing the scrolls back into the chest. After that, Grey would explore the rest of the large rooms, which shouldn’t have been rooms in the first place, but it was just sections of the city that were underground, making them more like rooms than anything, with the Doctor until they found anything of use. It looked like there was nothing else of any value though.

Successfully busting open the chest with the contents inside, Daiki looked at the container as a bunch of old scrolls began to fall out of the container. He was a bit thrilled at first, as he watched Gray walk over towards the scrolls to examine them. Daiki could have looked at them himself but he figured Grey might be better at this sort of thing than he was. After watching Grey for a little while, he realized that it wasn't anything that was of any use to them and so Daiki figured that out quickly as his wide grin dropped into a less joyful one. Listening to his statement, it seems unless they want to learn some homemade chili, there was nothing of worth for them here. Still this is good enough for them to succeed on the mission so Daiki just loaded the contents back into the container and left it in a safe spot of the ruins they were in before searching the rest of the 'rooms' in this ancient ruins. It didn't seem like anything else was of value here so it was in their best interest to just come back to the room with the ancient scrolls of nonsense and collect the container. Daiki was the one to lift it up and carry it as he was more suited for this type of labor. After all, he carried his own research material which often was quite heavy. Well, it was no matter, walking back to the entrance with the contents on his back, Daiki had greeted the royal guard once again, informing them of their find and what they planned on doing with it, which is turning it in. Following the path back to the village, Daiki turned the container with the scrolls in them with Grey.

It was really annoying walking through the rest of the underground buried city and finding nothing of value. The plan was to swipe some goodies for themselves, but there was nothing of value. He wasn’t some sort of kleptomaniac, so there was also no reason to pocket one of the scrolls, so they simply begrudgingly carried the chest back to the archeologist in charge and handed it over to him. They were swiftly paid and exited the area. “Well, that was lame. The city was so boring and old, and there was barely anything in it. Oh well, money is money.” Grey said as he was walking back with the Doctor. This was basically over with all of the missions, and so all they had to do was collect some of the rewards from the administration building, so Grey started walking over towards it, but he still wanted to check with the Doctor to see if he had anything that he had yet to complete. “So I’m pretty sure we’re done, but do you have anything else to do from the missions?” Grey said as they were walking away. He made sure to stop when he was asking this question, as he didn’t want to get too far away from the more central area they had gotten to, as even though he didn’t really care about human life as a whole, he still cared about inconveniencing the people that he considered allies, at least for the moment.

Walking back with their goods in tow, Daiki was still smiling normally but it meant something completely different. It was a more annoyed smile if it could be called that but in the end they had managed to fulfill their duty. Carrying their findings back to their client which happened to be an archeologist, they had turned it in and collected their money for a job well done. That was it, that was all there was for them to do. They had completed their task and it was time for them to move on. Grey had expressed that he was disappointed in their excursion as well as the city being quite boring to be in. Everything was old and Daiki couldn't help but agree. This place was all about preserving their culture and heritage and what not that seems to fail to introduce progress of the modern world. Well, to each their own he assumed. He was no leader so he didn't have much experience in how to run a government. "Yeah, it's a shame. This place would be much, much better but who am I to say how to run a country, " Daiki had said, chortling. "Well, I guess we've completed everything we had to do for the time being. Let's go grab some dinner or something, after all we've more than enough money." With that last remark, Daiki started making his way towards a restaurant to grab something to eat. He wasn't too picky but assuming he knows Hoshi, their food will be 'traditional' as well.

Grey and the Doctor were both finished with their tasks, as Grey gave a final once over to make sure that they had each completed the missions that they had set out to complete, and after a tally, he was satisfied. He had the slips saying that he had completed some of the missions, and already had the rewards of the others, and so the two of them walked over to the administration office to collect all of their earnings. It was a large haul for only a day of work, and this was something that Grey thought was a bit too generous on the part of the village, although he wasn’t going to complain about it. It was pretty easy to do these missions as a group, but they got paid as if they were individually doing the missions, which made him wonder how well off normal village ninja were here. It made him think even less of the ninjas, as this was straight extortionate. After they had collected all of their money, they immediately walked off towards the heart of the ninja village. Grey was enamored at all of the money he had gotten from today, and soon the Doctor suggested going to go and get dinner, and that the country was not as good as it could be. Grey nodded, looking around at all of the religious nutjobs and royal guards. “Yeah, going to grab a bit to eat sounds good. I wonder what the best place to eat in the village is, might as well treat ourselves, eh?” Grey also wanted a pretty stiff drink that he could enjoy after today’s work, even if it wasn’t that difficult.

By my calculations you’re short of collecting all techs you’ve named, at least at their A rank and D rank (Tai Amp), by 600 words. If that was intentional then all you need to do is put a WC counter specifying how many words is going towards each; i.e. 2500/2750 WC and so forth.
