Dawn at the Training Grounds
Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:35 pm
Once Yutaru had been accepted as a resident in Hoshigakure he promptly retired to his new home in the great village. Usually the young man would have unpacked his small travel bag, as he did at rental units before; but on this night Yutaru had little time to arrange his few rags of clothing and various hygiene products. On this night Yutaru would be face to face with the coming of his greatest obstacle ever.
Yu had a much more important matter than hair wax to attend to. According to the one who was concerned with his activity in Hoshi, Yutaru was expected to display his ability at the training grounds the following morning. His Gentle Fist talent would be put to the test. Having been accepted on the premise he would become a ninja for Hoshigakure, Yutaru knew his level hood depended on how well he could perform. The young Hyuuga had a lot to prove. Wasting no effort he would begin the battle with a strategy, and the night before he arrived amidst the Water Gardens looking for the appropriate training field was the only time he would have to prepare.
Meditating in his apartment Yutaru sat cross legged in the yellow painted walls of his humble abode. The former wanderer was planning to use his skill with Dojutsu to maintain an advantage by keeping the Byakugan active and avoiding danger until he found a fracture in his superiors armor. Though Yutaru knew he couldn't conquer the ninja in any executable way, Yutaru was planning on making an impression in a different way, that way being a dedication to svasion.
Among modern practice the Gentle Fist style had become widely varied. Yutaru was trained in a unique application of the style which was dedicated to applying the eight classical points of the body as weapons. Yutaru's knees and elbows were as deadly as finger tips or palms when it came to assaulting the tenketsu points. In the same regard his body was incredibly limber, and shifting with centrifugal force allowed for range provided unpredictable attacks in all directions. Flying knees, spinning elbows, soaring front kicks and sweeping leg kicks allowed him to keep the Gentle Fists range in his control.
Most deadly of all however was Yutaru's skill with grappling. The analytically minded Yu was gifted with superb control of his body, and he could confidently grapple in order to attack with the Gentle Fist st close range. By claiming a neck Yutaru could masterfully swing his cinched up victim in a barrage of Gentle Fist strikes from the knees and elbows.
Undoubtedly Yu was a close ranged fighter, and that night he went over the dozens of attacks he might employ in the coming test. Eventually he realized he wouldn't be comfortable with just any typical assault, but there wouldn't be enough time to come up with an ace in the hole. Instead Yutaru left the apartment in the morning planning to simply evade long enough to pinpoint a pattern with his Byakugan to take advantage of. It would be difficult to find error in a trained ninjas force of motion so that he might concoct an on the fly strategy to subdue him in the grapple; but that was Yutaru's most sure shot with no classical training in jutsu.
As he walked through the cold, wet gardens he was quietly whistling a tune and going over his expected evasive maneuvers. Truthfully he didn't have any great ones, but with the Byakugan he expected he might last long enough to combo some kind of Barrage and plug the elders chakra flow. Yutaru knew it would only take so many precision strikes of the Gentle Fist before the ninja would cry uncle and admit his prodigal talent was beyond just using his Byakugan to look at the powerhouse of the cell. Tenketsu blockages were painful and frustrating, even in moderated spar intensity and avoiding every strike would be difficult if he planned on standing toe to toe with Yu.
Eventually Yutaru made it to the training area just before four in the morning. There were several small fields cleared out for a total of six circular rings for sparring. The dirt was being snowed on, but it remained frozen enough there was no mud. The wind was Gentle, which was good for outside weather at this time of the year. The dirt was free of stones, and not a soul was around as far as the unfocused eye could see.
Without his Byakugan Yutaru didn't see his superior yet, so he decided he would warm up a bit with forms. Standing in one of the circle rings he was wearing his fancy yutaka at the ready, both palms faced at the ground and protecting his groin. Despite being sort of cheap with money Yu desired to look as well as he could around someone who was above him in the village, and standing there prepared to strike he did look good. The glimmering holographic threads sewn into his robe were shimmering in the faint morning light, and Yutaru had tucked all of his loose clothing into the sash he wore around his waist. With his slick hair tied back by a silver colored band, Yutaru let out a loud grunt before bowing.
In the early morning light Yutaru was suddenly dashing his spear hand into the air for precision warm ups.
Weight pressed onto his heel Yu braced his right knee for balance and cocked back his right arm at ear level before turning his hips and gently resting his forward left leg on the ground before him. Chin turned Yu projected his left palm upright while at the ready.
The palm forward and his rght hand at his ear were suddenly stiffened and equipped as two spear hands. The four fingered weapons rested for exactly two seconds before Yutaru began firing his left hand forward like a jab. Four strikes at throat level, then one at the stomach and two on both sides of the chest. Yu repeated this pattern then swiftly lifted the forward left leg he had gently set before him, firing a front kick in the air at stomach height.
As Yu's left leg returned from the push kick he leaped up a meter in the air with his back right leg and dived from above spinning into a dive bomb elbow from his right arm.
As he completed the spin at empty air Yutaru extended his left legs into a round house in combination. As his shin swung through the air at waist level Yutaru plunged his left shoulder forward and rolled across the ground smoothly. He dashed about a meter before quickly springing up to repeat the pattern.

Re: Dawn at the Training Grounds
Sat Jan 15, 2022 3:56 pm
That morning Yamato woke up without much hindrance, the family he moved in had already settled into a routine and the son and daughter were up and working on cultivating chakra in the living room. The clock showed that it was just a little half past four thirty and the Chuunin knew that he had an appointment to keep with the person he let into the village. Yutaru the Hyuuga was set to be at the training grounds at dawn and of course Yamato knew that the key to success was to have a routine so he began making breakfast. It started with eggs and some ham, which he made enough for the other occupants of his apartment. The mother of the two kids woke up and looked into the kitchen, before coming in and starting to make some tea, setting out plates for the little makeshift family. Yamato did not give too much information to this woman or her children, but they liked him…and they kept Yamato grounded, he never revealed his age or his shinobi going-ons. The mother, now known to him as Mrs. Bailey waited for Yamato to finish cooking, the apartment was filled with a wonderful fragrance from the food and all was well for a time.
At about five o’ clock he showered and dressed in a long sleeve training gi, not bothering to put on his armor before slipping a few kunai and his katana in their respective areas on his person. In the mirror he could see his white hair hanging down a bit and he sighed. He remembered having longer hair as Miyamoto and he fixed everything, combed it and straightened himself up before going back out into the living area. The children were off to the academy while Mrs. Bailey hung around for a while making small talk with Yamato, she was quite attractive and honestly Yamato could not see why her husband did what he did…but he also understood that the whole thing was shrouded with an air of mystery still and he told her that he would get to work on gathering answers today. Soon though she left and Yamato left the apartment building with the intent of not coming back until the day was over or until he was satisfied with training Yutaru.
He made it to the training grounds just before dawn and practiced his chakra suppression as he hung out above the area in a tree. It was reminiscent of how he first looked over Team Winter when they combined. It did not take long for Yutaru to show up and begin to practice various martial arts forms…all in all the youth was not bad…but he lacked precision and he lacked lethality. These forms were great for warming up and getting one’s blood flowing…but to practice in killing your opponent…they were lackluster. Hyuuga were living weapons so they needed to perform with grace and dignity while also being ready for a challenge at a moments notice, so Yamato leapt from the branch and onto the ground behind Yutaru and he waited till the citizen was mid kick and spoke up. “You have good form but lack purpose. If you have been a lone wolf…you should have more of a lethal air about you, yet I sense none…why?” He asked as he waited for a response from the youth…he felt a familiar presence nearby.

Typhon woke up early as usual and got into his morning routine of a lazy breakfast, simply toast and some kind of fruit; this time being an orange. It wasn't much, but he wasn't a big eater. After his food the Canopic would check in on his father, making sure he was comfortable and resting well. The doctor would be coming by to check on him later so this morning he didn't need to help with his father's meds. With the extra time he had he would be able to get down to the training grounds before the burning sun had enough time to get high in the sky.
He would toss on a grey hooded sweatshirt and black jogging pants. At the door he grabbed his gas mask and gloves and made sure they were properly affixed. Ready to go he would begin jogging down to the training grounds. It was a pretty long way away from his home and so by the time Ty made it there he would already have worked up a sweat.
The gardens were as beautiful as ever, the morning sun just now breaking through the trees. Ty had spent so much time cooped up taking care of his father that he hadn't even realized how scenic the village could be. The gardens were a paradise in the middle of the desert. It was no wonder people often came here to train. One could really get a sense of pride in their village wandering through this little spot of nature. As Typhon took in the whole area he would spot a few scattered groups of people. Some were training, others were just enjoying the view.
As he scanned the field Ty would spot a familiar face, that of his squad leader Yamato. He was speaking to a young shinobi who looked to be there training. It wasn't someone that he recognized, maybe another new recruit. He decided to at least say hello. Maybe they could train together and make it a more productive morning.
As he approached he would call out, "Heyyy Yamato. Getting some training in early?" Once he was close he would turn to the stranger, "nice to meet you. Names Typhon." He would extend a gloved hand to shake. It was a gesture he didn't really offer usually due to not wanting to touch anyone. It was a nervous habit that he was trying to break by being more forward.

Rolling through the dirt Yutaru continued the first step of his warm up with a set of repitions. When he sprung back up from prone he switched sides, mirroring the form with his other lead. The flaps of his robe swished in the wind, smacking at the falling sleet with a soft slapping sound. The bacjside of his robe was growing wet from spinning on the ground, but fortunately his set was done and the second was four kicks with no ground action.
Yutaru didn't quite like being wet, but he overlooked it and continued with the next series of martial arts maneuvers. Brows furrowed in concentration and standing on his right foot with both palms drawn at his armpits Yu began the second excercise. The Hyuuga suddenly shot forth a fast front kick from his dangling left foot, and as he did the ninja who had invited was judging the form carefully from the tree. Yu didn't notce.
The Hyuuga scientist retracted his left leg then in combination swung his shoulder towards his right foot and kicked his left foot forward where his shoulder had previously been. As it reached its length Yutaru pointed his toes outward and drove his heel in an arc displaying an unorthodox kick as the Hoshigakure ninja leapt to the ground next to him.
Head still pivoted for the next kick in his form, Yutarus concentration was halted when he heard the presence of a body near him. Y I picked his neck up and saw the familiar man, and smiled warmly to him from below. As the elder began to speak Yu properly fixed his body contortion and set both feet on the ground. Carefully heeding the man's words Yu rubbed his neck, listening to the man and considering what he had asked.
Truthfully Yutaru was not a killing machine. His mother trained him classically but he had only ever faced simple danger from bandits on the roads. Yutaru lived a passive life style, upholding the law and generally making good ties with people. Lethality was a value that had only recently creeped in his mind as his studies with botany began to become more valid in practice. For most of his life Yutaru considered his skill with power to be a tool for protection; only recently did he begin to understand how drive could be an answer to the mysteries of knowledge.
Drive for power would certainly make a killer out of Yutaru, and as he briefly considered what the man said he was pulling out a knot in his neck. While he dreamt of becoming a ninja, Yutaru was a scientist who practiced methodical dissolution of concentrated botanicals. Determining cellular structures of plant enzymes was one thing, but Yutaru was no master of lethality. Trying not to show it more than the man had surely seen, Yutaru put his hand down and replied to the man.
Yu spoke softly, but the cold air carried a wicked echo that could be heard all around. "Well my mom showed me martial arts as a way to protect my Byakugan. I suppose I only ever cultivated my talents as such, ways to guard the sacred things in life." Yutaru rolled a hair tie off his wrist and fixed up his hair into two ponytails.
As he continued talking he pulled his hair back and his eyes grazed the horizon where he saw Typhon in his line of vision, and his comfortable gait walking towards them hinted to Yutaru that the man knew who he currwntly was answering to. Yutaru finished his answer before Ty greeted them. A little nervous as to what kind of training he would endure, Yu focused his fear on the magnanimous questions asked of him.
"Perhaps my defensive nature led me to being too friendly and I have yet to rightly face danger." Yutaru was smiling, and on cue Ty grabbed the attention if them both by saying hello. In the back of his mind Yutaru was nervous he wasn't good enough.m, and the new arrival of someone helped hide his fear from himself. Yutaru appeared to be excited to meet someone, smiling and waving; but the young man was scared in the presence of ninja. Yu had a lot to prove all at once, but he knew he could do it and hearing the new ninja speak to this senior by name relieved some stress from Yutaru's shoulders.
Yu looked closely and saw the man was wearing a breather. He wasn't sure why, but kept his curiosity to himself for now. When the nice young man stuck his hand out and introduced Yutaru was still smiling and nodded his head. Looking at Ty, Yu replied with his own name. "The pleasure is mine, Typhon. I am Yutaru of the Hyuuga Clan. I am in Hoshigakure hoping to become a ninja from Haven Country." Yutaru smiled warmly in the winter daybreak and shook his bandaged hand with the man.

Having now interrupted his morning training Yamato gave a judgmental look as Yutaru poke, and even more still he gave a wave as he heard a familiar voice…one of his students from Team Winter had joined then, Typhon…this was a fruitful endeavor and one that he could use to his advantage here in teaching. He explained his reasoning for why his forms lacked the fortitude or the force behind them to actually cause damage. “Typhon, it is good that you decided to join me and Yutaru for some morning training, and here I was thinking you might be stuck at home cleaning again.” He spoke and carried a smile before placing his hands on one of each of the young men. “Yutaru here does not know what it is like to fight with his life on the line, and I know you remember our first meeting, right Typhon.” He gave his team member a look as if he knew where this was going “You learned some taijutsu and you do not yet know what the life of a contributing shinobi is like Yutaru, and in order to see what skills you actually possess. I am going to test you the only way I know how. Trial by combat.” He said as he took his katana out and laid it down, taking a few pieces of his armor off so that way he would expose vulnerable spots for them. He was going to put Typhon through a selective test as he had high hopes for him, and with Yutaru…he wanted to see if he had any capability for growth. “I know it is sudden, but what do the two of you say?” He waited of course for an answer before doing anything further.

Typhon laughed when Yamato joked about him being stuck at home cleaning. But his smile would quickly turn into shock when he realized what was about to happen. A fight with his life on the line, the last time that happened he ended up with both wounded ribs and pride. Though that was only weeks ago he had improved quite a lot since then so hopefully this time would be different.
"Yeah...I'm fine with that. Looking forward to working with you Yutaru." Ty would say trying to sound confident. "I won't hold back at all this time, I'm sure youd rather it that way anyways huh Yamato?"
With that he would take off both his gloves and his mask. It was a strange feeling to say the least. This was the first time he had taken his mask off outside his house and yard. Add to it the fact that Ty had no idea what kind of fighter Yutaru was or if he had any experience at all. It would be interesting to see how it goes.
He would take up a spot next to Yutaru and drop into a low profile stance, ready to move on a moments notice.

He would take up a spot next to Yutaru and drop into a low profile stance, ready to move on a moments notice.

The team experience between Typhon and Shinrei was clear to Yutaru, and he knew that Typhon was being held to a standard during this match. As Yu silently agreed to the match with a nod, his Byakugan flashed inside of his pale eyes. As the conical vision receptors in his eyes flooded with chakra the veins around his eyes became tight. In the middle of his pale eye was the faint shadow of Yutaru’s pupil.
While the elder was preparing himself for this test by taking off armor, Yutaru was surveying the wide scope of area available to his his peripheral vision. The ground was clear and the weather was mild; but Yutaru didn't count the fight would stay inside the circular arena boundary. Not curious enough to ask, by the time Typhon confirmed the upcoming battle Yu had decided on a plan of attack.
When Shinrei revealed some of his flesh Yutaru had noticed the pieces of armor being shed were very much like target zones on the dummies he had seen at the acadamy. Yutaru could tell he was being baited as a taijutsu specialist, and the scientist figured the senior warrior knew of the Gentle Fist edge in battle.
Panning not to fall into any trap, Yutaru was aiming to tear apart more of Shinrei's armor and open an unexpected area for assault. He wondered if Typhon would have any skills executable for such and prepared his body for combat without a word to his new team mate. Despite being a scientist Yutaru was in good shape, and he moved with purpose. In the face of an exam Yutaru's studious nature was prevalent while he entered the style of Gentle Fist before Shinrei Yamato.
Assuming the same side stance as before Yutaru resumed his Gentle Step evasive stance. With his right foot holding most of his weight Yu was gently resting his left foot in front of him, holding both knife hands palm up in front of him. Before the fight began Yutaru would be prepared for a lead attack with his own front kick to establish distance; the Gentle Step variation of Gentle Fist was great for defensive fighting, but Yutaru knew he would only have so many chances to pound at Shinrei'sguarded abdomen. As he maintained his pose Yutaru’s firm knife hands were nervously shaking before his face.

Yamato listened as the two were now practically best friends, a shinobi and a wannabe civilian looking to break into the shinobi world. The good thing was that Typhon has had a little experience in how Yamato fights now, so it should be a little bit easier to hopefully force a stop to the match…the thing was, Yamato never stopped growing. “Now that the pleasantries are out of the way we can get down to business.” He said as he watched Yutaru get into a fighting stance, Typhon would ready himself as well and he wanted them both. “Fight now as if your lives depend on it, go beyond your physical limits and shatter my expectations.” He said with a sly smirk before he quickly performed the following hand signs; Monkey - Dragon - Boar - Ox. “Wood Armor!” He would announce, touching the tree he landed beside and quickly a layer of armor would form on his body before he would rush in at the two shinobi, it was more of a scare tactic than anything because he was not aiming to do them lasting harm, but he needed them to know the severity of the situation. He immediately went for the Byakugan user in a bare knuckle punch towards his chest. Towards typhon he would make a ram hand sign as if to denote he was about to unleash something worse.

The moment he saw Yamato start using hand seals Typhon would start performing seals of his own. He would cover himself with a membrane of virus particles. (55 health barrier) To the naked eye it would appear that a slight sheen had covered the young man's whole body. Those who could see through that however would find a veritable sea of disease coating Typhon head to toe. This technique was experimental and this was its first real test.
Yamato seemed to have the same idea as he too armored himself and was now rushing straight for Yutaru. Without even thinking about it Ty would use an immense amount of strength to get in between Yamato and his target (150 speed), in hopes of taking the hit for the boy. Should he be able to withstand the punch he would attempt to grip Yamato by the wrist that he punched with and flip and throw him to the ground (This tech at 75 strength)
Should this all succeed it would leave his partner in a good position to capatilize on the opening.
(WC 179)
(TWC 788)
Techs used
Chakra enhanced strength (boosted speed and strength by 50 each)
Capsid Coating (B rank)
Tsuri Goshi (C rank)
Total AP expended 80
620-80=540 AP remaining

Firthfortune it seemed Typhon was protectjng Yutaru lucky enoug double back as fast he could though..
Once he was double back from where Typhpon was met whereYamato had rushed the boys, Yutaru's powerful eyes saw semblance of chakra being flowed around him, and double back once more, shuffling his feet and angling to get a sokdblow on Shinrei's armor.
In front stance Yutaru held his lead left knife hand above his softly placed front right foot. Most of his weight was centered in the knee where we bent down and reared back his right hand with a front centered palm.
Typhon had simultaneously coated himself in a sort of sickening chakra Veil, and Yu let him fly forward. Whatching and waiting for a chance to fire a Vacuum Blast; but also for whatever dangers the younger ninja had in store for Yamata seemed best to be learned about before Yu would try any real moves.
Yamato was growing his wood, and Yutaru knew mokuton wood to grow in strange ways. He hoped he could take the back side, but there was not way to be sure Typhons technique was forceful enough.
