Task: A local businessman has been receiving death threats recently. He and his wife are planning a shopping spree and he would like an experienced ninja to escort the them around just to be safe. Make sure that the couple can safely shop and handle any issues that may arise. Return them safely to their estate for your reward.

A shopping escort mission was not the kind of thing Madara wanted to do. But what could she do about it? She needed the money. Rent had gone through the roof so much that she’d moved back in with her parents not too long ago. It was very demeaning to be a genin because she had to depend on her parents again. She felt like a little kid, more or less. Well, it was good to get out of the house at least.

Anyways she ended up having to tag along with this stupid ass family and let them shop safely. What do you do when you’re bored and you’ve got little to do but sit around and burn time? Well why not play with some genjutsu? Try to develop your own booster? Madara nodded her head to herself while she considered the option. “Yes, I’ve been meaning to try it out,” she mused to herself while she sat on a rock and figured out just what she wanted to do. Find some reliable teammates was obvious, but there was so much more to it. Did she want the teammates to be male? Female? What did she want them to be good at? She wanted them to follow her every command and she had long since developed a means to do so but each iteration of the teammates had come to know had been rather… lackluster. What was she to do? She had to finally settle on some teammates and not dispose of them. Each time she did so just felt so wrong, like she was killing a part of herself.

The first thing Madara had to deal with was someone trying to sneak up on one of the family members while Madara was musing about jutsu. She grabbed the obvious criminal from behind and choked him out and then went back to thinking. All of her thoughts made her think of what she really wanted out of her teammates. She herself was not so good at physical combat unless times were dire and she whipped out a boosting attack with her enhanced jutsu. That made her realize that she could be a damage dealer and a sealer for the group of teammates she would make into a team of her own. Not just that, but she could utilize her doujutsu and keep an eye on them. So it was settled. She would be a support type shinobi. She really just had to play support and play with seals and make her teammates do the more risky stuff. That was the tentative plan anyway. But what should she do as far as giving her teammates some purpose in life?

Madara mused some more. Armor and weaponry were always useful. She figured she could get one of them to specialize in getting up close and personal, but that would also make it impossible for them to help her out with chakra related tasks. She thought some more. “I’ll get a fast one, one that uses armor and taijutsu so that she knows how to take all the hits that I can’t. That would make her specialize in taijutsu and weapon jutsu. And I could always grant them some of my own jutsu. But what would they do with their bloodline abilities? I suppose they would have to have at least a little bit of chakra proficiency so that they can help perform genjutsu if I need them too.”

The family waved to Madara as they left the store and walked to the next one. Madara trotted along beside them. Just her being there was enough for people to not fuck with her clients. That was a good thing because Madara didn’t want to pay too much attention to this easy ass mission she was on. She tried to run the math in her head and consider all that the teammates could be in the end. She knew they couldn’t amount to being as well rounded as a normal person because she was only going to get help from ranks lower than herself, but she guessed that speed was the most important for the first one along with strength so she could take and deal some real damage with various forms of armor and weaponry. Then that left a little bit to split between the teammate’s endurance along with its chakra capabilities. It was really hard to find a good balance Madara found because of the physical limits of young people.

It didn’t look like anyone would be able to survive a direct hit at all if something pierced its armor which would be a big change to how Madara currently did battle. Well that was way down the road when the teammate would be strong enough to rival herself in terms of physical prowess. Madara didn’t’ want to dwell too much on that right now. All she knew for sure was that she wanted it to be good at weaponry stuff. She didn’t care too much about what else it was good at for now. Whether it was taijutsu or something else, it didn’t really bother her. If it learned so much as a single better booster then she thought she could get it to tank some pretty serious hits and it would be fast enough to contend with a lot of scary beings out there.

It was time to figure out what she was going to do with the second teammate. For sure she wanted it to have some ability to seal. She knew that many enemies she would face would need to be sealed and fuinjutsu was such a good utility, or so people said, that she wanted to get it herself. But she resisted the urge to get it for herself for the simple reason that she wanted to be able to do other things. She couldn’t give up weaponry or she wouldn’t be strong enough to make teammates. And she couldn’t give up ninjutsu or she wouldn’t be able to protect herself. So it had to be a teammate that learned fuinjutsu in the end. So fuinjutsu, that was settled, but it made Madara think of what else she wanted from the others. Genjutsu came naturally for any support role if they were going to be a chakra based fighter. Madara also considered what would happen if she let this one be a chakra shielding type. No, that was a terrible idea.

Madara shook her head. This was getting her nowhere. She was trying to map out the entire lives of the teammates without even knowing what they would look like. It made her grumble with discontent because she liked for these kinds of things to be planned out in advance. Look at what had happened to her, she had thought that having a lot of energy to take hits was a good thing but then it turned out that entire purpose could be delegated to a piece of upgraded armor. It made her just a tad grumpy in the grand scheme of things. She would just not decide what else the teammate was going to be good at for now, other than fuinjutsu. There was so much to think about that it was hard to do so when she was on a mission.

Madara decided that she would just keep doing this mission and just hope she could meet some more teammates. She had one on hand, one that revolved around babysitting these shoppers. She hadn’t planned on taking a C rank mission because there were so many material and crafting missions out there, but she decided that she would show up. It was going to be fun getting to know each teammate a little bit. She stopped another shady fellow who was getting too close to the family and said “Back off dude.”

The family and their bodyguard finally reached a mall where the family members were going to split up for shopping. Madara created some water clones and gave them names. One would be named Yuma and the other one would be Puma. They all looked at each other and shrugged. Madara passed around the mission details. Yuma stared blankly at the mission she had just been handed. Babysitting. So did Puma. They were both going to be mostly worthless but at least they could inform Madara if something went down. Madara thought back to all the missions she had done in the past and realized that none of them had ever required her to look after people while shopping. So what could go wrong? Then she turned to the next page. Holy… there were so many instructions in here that it made her head dizzy. There were three kids, one was three years old, another was four years old, and another was seven years old. There were pictures of each of them, as if she really needed that. It was written that the eldest was not responsible at all but liked to do dangerous thing with the younger kids.

That told Madara and the crew not to let her anywhere near the others and separate her entirely. The youngest was reported to love to get into mischief too, which told them that that the problem was probably genetic. Nothing was said about the middle child, which could have meant anything really. Then there were instructions to feed them lunch and noon and make them nap at 1:30 in the afternoon. That was probably going to be the hardest part, in Madara’s opinion. She didn’t know much about taking care of kids, but nap time seemed to be something that was universally hated by kids.

Madara stood there taking up space while her head went through the million different ways things could play out. Well, she wasn’t going to have enough time to think through all fourteen million five hundred and six possibilities so she got a move on and headed towards the shops followed closely by the teammates who were just now walking for the first time and getting the feel of it. The mall itself was pretty extravagant and it was clear that the people that owned it were loaded. That would explain why the kids were supposedly such little brats. Just walking up the paved entryway gave Madara a certain rage for her financial situation. Why was she doing so poorly while these people lived in luxury!?

The crew walked all the way to the front door where she saw a number of shopping bags lined up. As soon as they approached, they were welcomed in by a servant and an entourage of shopping clerks who were guiding a group of people out the door and to a carriage. Even the carriages were luxurious and lined with gold. They were just left out there too with no security, making Madara think that she could probably make a fortune scraping some of that luxurious metal off of there when nobody was looking. She had to mentally slap herself to make sure she didn’t have such heinous thoughts though. She wasn’t a criminal, she was a shinobi!

“I guess we’re almost done with this mission no?” Madara told her teammates. It wasn’t long before they arrived at the house and then they had to help bring the bags inside. Even the butler left and it was clear that nobody else was going to be here except for Madara and the crew. She was left scratching her head as to why they had been in such a hurry to leave, but that wasn’t really her deal. She was off the hook before dinner time, according to the mission, which was when she assumed someone else would be taking this whole deal over. One of Madara’s teammates was the one to close the doors and figured she would get to work and set the ground rules early. If she could just get these kids to behave then this would be an easy end of the day.
