Training Day Pt II
Fri Aug 04, 2023 2:31 am
As the sun began to rise, the Shokku district of Otogakure was already awake with the bustling of life. In a modest home near the edge of the district, the young 19 year old boy named Raikur was preparing for his day. His short black hair sat neatly at the top of his head and deep purple eyes that seemed to hold a sense of determination.
Today was an important day for Raikur, as he was going to spend the entire day training at the village's Advanced Training Facility. He had been looking forward to this day for weeks, eager to improve his skills and prove his worth as a Genin, leaving the shadow of the Shokku clan behind him.
With a quick breakfast eaten, Raikur donned his traditional black attire, there were no clan symbols or anything at all of the like that could be traced back to the Shokku. He tightened the bandages around his hands, a ritual he always performed before training, as if it were an extension of himself.
As he stepped outside, the fresh morning air greeted him, and he took a deep breath, steeling himself for the challenges ahead. His small and humble home was situated at the outskirts of the Shokku district.
With determination in his eyes, he started the trek towards the Advanced Training Facility. The journey took him through familiar streets, and he exchanged greetings with some of his clan members and other fellow villagers who were going about their daily routines. Raikur felt a deep desire to explore and test his limits today, he could not explain it, but he felt like he had been falling behind his fellow Oto Genin.
The Training Facility stood tall and imposing as he approached it, an emblem of the village's dedication to the pursuit of strength and excellence. Raikur pushed open the heavy doors and entered, the scent of sweat and hard work filling his nostrils. The facility was a place he felt at home, surrounded by like-minded individuals striving to become better shinobi. The Facility was quite busy today, with several other Shinobi in attendance as they trained.
He began his day with warm-up exercises, stretching his muscles and loosening his joints, ensuring that he took Quinn’s advice from a previous session, and focusing on his breathing. Raikur was aware that proper preparation was essential to prevent injuries during the rigorous training that awaited him. As he completed his warm-up, beads of sweat glistened on his forehead, a sign that he was ready for the real challenges.
The day was divided into different sessions, focusing on various aspects of ninja training. Raikur spent hours perfecting his chakra control, trying to mold it with precision and finesse. He practiced the most basic of techniques to the most advanced, seeking to understand every nuance and flawlessly execute each one.
His determination never wavered, even as fatigue threatened to take its toll on his body. He would push himself beyond his limits, testing the boundaries of his endurance and resolve. Whenever he stumbled or faltered, he would get back up, learning from his mistakes and growing stronger in the process.
His focus was on honing his control further over the Lightning element, something that he specialised in. He still had not been able to reach the level that he required to unlock the Purple Lightning Release element. It was the staple of his clan but had felt out of reach for him for so long now. It infuriated the young Shokku to extreme bounds, why was he unable to do it? Was there something wrong with him? Perhaps the hatred his father had for him was not exactly unfounded…
The thought of his father infuriated the boy further, resulting in him pushing himself to his limits far sooner than he had expected. Finding a training dummy, he locked his eyes on it and focused on funnelling Chakra into his right hand. The call of a thousand birds ripped through the air, causing the other Shinobi who were training to turn their heads and witness Raikur’s Chidori activate.
Dashing forward, he also activated his Unstable Muragan, allowing him to quickly change directions while his Chidori was active. Advancing in a zig zagging fashion, he would reach just before the training dummy and strike forward with his right hand, piercing the dummy right through the chest with relative ease.
Satisfied with his performance and control over his newly discovered technique, Raikur would deactivate it, before walking back to where he had been training prior.
Between sessions, Raikur would take short breaks, sitting in the shade and sipping water to rehydrate himself. During these moments, he would reflect on his progress, mentally noting areas that needed improvement. He never allowed complacency to settle in; there was always more to learn, more to achieve.
As the sun reached its peak, signalling midday, Raikur was engaged in intense combat training. He sparred with other Genin from the village, each duel pushing his skills to new heights. These training sessions were invaluable, allowing him to understand the strengths and weaknesses of various combat styles.
His black hair swayed with each movement, and his deep purple eyes glinted with determination as he engaged in combat. Raikur knew that each opponent he faced was an opportunity for growth, and he treated them with respect, even in the heat of battle.
Depending on his opponent, Raikur would either focus on his Ninjutsu or Bukijutsu, allowing him to put more effort into controlling each style. He would counter weapon with weapon, Jutsu with Jutsu. Asking for feedback or advice from those he trained with after they were done with their sessions.
After a hard-fought series of sparring matches, Raikur retreated to a quiet corner of the Training Facility to meditate and regain his focus. Meditation was not only about calming his mind but also about connecting with his inner self, tapping into the well of strength that lay within him.
Raikur was most definitely not the strongest person in Oto, but he was slowly building on that strength and pushing himself to new heights that he did not know where possible. His fighting style had always been focused on his Speed, his best attribute behind his high Vigor. One day he hoped to unlock Arashi no sentoki, the advanced fighting style created by the Shokku clan. It would allow him to use his speed to his advantage in combat, focusing less on the need for pure brute force.
As the afternoon sun started to dip, Raikur dedicated the remaining hours to stealth and evasion exercises. He moved through obstacle courses with grace and silence, honing his ability to remain unseen and unheard. This skill was crucial for a shinobi, as it allowed them to gather information, gather intelligence, and execute covert missions.
Using his Total Concentration Breathing, he increased his speed, allowing him to get through the stealth training quicker and quicker after each attempt. It was yet another valuable technique that Quinn had taught him, something that was extremely valuable to him and was assisting him in his growth as a Shinobi.
The day seemed to pass in a blur, and as the sun began to set, Raikur was exhausted, but he felt a sense of accomplishment. The Training Facility had witnessed his efforts, and he knew he had given his all. With a content smile on his face, he made his way back home, feeling a sense of pride in his progress.
On his way home, Raikur stopped by a local ramen shop near the Training Facility, one that he often found himself at after training. What could he say, he loved ramen and this place was the best in the village. After ordering a spicy pork ramen and sitting at the counter, he would quietly go over his day, taking mental notes of what he had done well and what needed to be improved.
As he walked through the Shokku district once more, something, rather somebody, caught his eye. His mother and father, Tsubaki and Yuuma were walking together, appearing to be in the midst of a very important conversation. Raikur walked onwards, attempting to avoid being seen by either of them, but a voice called out behind him that caused him to stop in his tracks.
“Raikur. Halt for a moment, there is something that I wish to speak to you about.” The voice of his father never failed to piss Raikur off, but he could not be bothered causing a scene tonight, it had been a big day after all.
Turning to face Yuuma, he crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, “I am here, Yuuma. What do you want?” His father did not bat an eye as he walked towards Raikur, clearly he did not care about his son’s attitude. Yuuma left Tsubaki behind, as she did not appear willing to join in on their incoming conversation. No surprise to Raikur, his mother had always been deliberately blind to the way his father had treated him, her presence was not necessary.
“Your sister. She has passed the test. You should congratulate her for it.” Raikur was confused, surely this was not why his father was wasting his time today? Harune would likely tell Raikur herself. “Good for her, I am sure she will tell me herself when I see her next. Let us not play any games or waste time, what is it that you actually want to say?”
His father’s eyes narrowed, clearly Raikur was doing a good job of making him unhappy, something that the young Shokku revealed in. With a deep sigh, his father spoke again. “What I want, is for you to stop with these childish games and take the test as well. Whether you like it or not, you are a member of MY household, and every day that you do not complete the test and become worthy of the Shokku name, you will embarrass my house.”
Raikur laughed out loud at this, so THIS was why his father was wasting his time. His son was embarrassing him. “I see, why did you not say so sooner ‘father’? If I had known that I was embarrassing you, this all could have been avoided. Well then let me make something clear. The fact that I am an embarrassment to your house brings me more joy than anything you have ever done. I revel in that knowledge. I can now sleep happy knowing that I have this looming over you!”
Raikur could not hold it in any longer, his raw hatred and disdain for his parents caused him to shake with rage. Without realising it, he had activated his Unstable Muragan as he spoke, his voice darkening with a hatred that his father had never witnessed before. His words were laced with venom and eyes were daggers.
“Do NOT approach me ever again Yuuma. I am no son of yours and I will never do anything to bring you joy. You have done enough to bring misery to my life, I will never allow you to do that again. NEVER. Now piss off and leave me be, your wife is clearly getting impatient, and my own patience has run out.”
Turning around and forcing his father to face his back, Raikur walked off in the direction of his home. His fists still clenched as he deactivated his Muragan, it took some time for him to control his breathing once more. His hatred for his father had grown exponentially just now, fuelling his desire to see the man dead. “One day… I swear it, I will end him one day…” He whispered to himself as he continued to walk through the quiet streets of the Shokku district.
Entering his humble home, Raikur slammed the door behind before taking a seat in his living room. Placing his head in his hands, he reflected on the day's events. The training had been arduous, but it was a testament to his commitment to becoming a strong ninja. He knew that his journey was just beginning, and there were countless challenges ahead. His encounter with his father had stirred emotions with him that he had been attempting to repress, but it was for the best. These emotions would help him grow stronger, and when he was strong enough he would snuff the old man’s flame for good…
