Daycare and You

Asuka had woken up rather early that morning, one of her mother's friends owned a daycare and needed somebody to come in for the day so she could watch her son graduate. She was rather versed in how to take care of children, while growing up at the orphanage she constantly assisted in caring for the little ones. She often found herself growing rather close to the ones she consistently had taken care of. A lot of the kids at the orphanage where she had grown up were now like younger siblings to her so she was sure she could handle being at the daycare for a few hours. From what she was told by her mother she would only be caring for roughly 2 or 3 babies, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for her.

As Asuka walked down the path she attempted to not make eye contact with those she passed by, not wanting to draw any attention to herself. Though she wore beautifully made clothes, and she was equally as beautiful, she didn’t carry much confidence. She looked rather timid while strolling through the streets as she made her way to the daycare. Soon enough she came upon a rather small, one-story home that looked cozy. The outside was neatly maintained, and there was a small swing set in the front yard.

She would breathe deeply, giving herself one more moment to relax before entering the building. Not wanting to be rude, Asuka knocked lightly at the door, and eventually, a woman who looked to be in her late 30s opened the door. The woman ushered her inside after Asuka explained the situation and introduced herself, closing the door behind her. The house was relatively quiet, almost strangely quiet. While getting the tour of the home, the woman would explain that it was currently nap time, so all the children were asleep. The woman then handed Asuka some paperwork with various care instructions for the infants and informed her that only 2 had come in that day. After a bit of discussion on a few other miscellaneous topics, the woman would thank Asuka and head off to her son's graduation.

For the first hour, all was quiet, and while she waited for the babies to awaken she flipped through a nearby book she found. However the silence would soon break, and one of the children started crying. Quickly Asuka would make her way over to the crib and gently pick up the child. She assessed him to find out what was wrong and, through the process of elimination found that he was probably hungry. She would then prepare a small amount of milk in his baby bottle, and attempt to feed him. Thankfully that did the trick, and he quickly settled down. Occasionally she’d check on the other sleeping child, ensuring that he was still awake.

Thankfully the woman came back soon, and Asuka was released from her duties. The day had passed quickly and without many issues. If she had been unfamiliar with children and their needs the day would have been significantly worse, but thankfully she was experienced. After receiving payment, Asuka thanked the woman and began heading back home.

Simple Gardening

Before returning home, Askua would begin to pass by a large, old-looking home with a similarly old-looking woman standing next to what looked to be a garden bed. The old woman looked frustrated and could be heard mumbling curse words occasionally. Feeling empathetic towards the woman, Asuka would approach the gate of a short fence that wrapped around the back of the home. She would clear her throat and call out to the old woman, asking her if she needed assistance. The old woman's head turned to look at Asuka and seemingly sized her up. Chills ran up her spine as the woman's angry gaze was now fixed on her.

After a few moments in silence the woman simply says “Yeah, I guess you’ll do just fine, come here come here.”

Asuka, still a bit frightened by the old woman hastily opened up the gate, after fumbling with the locking mechanism for what felt like an eternity, it finally popped open. Quickly she’d make her way over to the woman who was now looking down at the ground. Asuka looked to see what the woman was staring at, and she was correct, it had been a garden bed. The woman then explained that her idiot husband had accidentally ruined her beautiful flower garden. Looking a bit closer at the scene of the accident, Asuka could see what looked to be human human-sized indent. The woman would go on to explain that while he was picking some of the herbs, he tripped and fell into the bed, destroying everything in his path.

The woman would then tell Asuka if she wanted to help, she could run to one of the nearby nurseries and buy her some replacement flowers. She happily accepted, and the woman pulled a small pouch of Ryo from her pocket and then handed it to Asuka. The old woman then began listing what herbs and flowers had been destroyed, in the meanwhile she would be cleaning out a spot for them to be put into. Soon Asuka left the old woman's home and made her way to the local nursery. While on the way, she would repeat the list the old woman had given her in her head the entire journey to ensure she didn’t forget any.

She would quickly reach the nursery and begin grabbing things off of the list, mentally checking each one off as she went along. Soon her arms would be full, and unable to carry nearly anything else. After paying for them she would make her way back to the old woman's house to find the gate shut, and nobody outdoors to help her. Not wanting any of the plants to fall, Asuka attempted to open the gate and failed miserably, nearly dropping a few of the pots. The old woman would eventually come out, see Asuka struggling with the gate, and begrudgingly assist her.

They then both walked over to the garden bed, and without exchanging words they began planting. It took them a little over an hour to make it look how it did before it was destroyed. The woman still seemed to be upset, but Asuka simply took it as her being mad with her husband. Once payment was exchanged the old woman would escort her out of the property and then return to her home.
