A Dark Mark, The Third Gift
Sun Apr 14, 2024 11:21 pm
Isamu felt the weight of this dark task bearing down on him, using this evil power his creator had shown him to gift others with power but at the possible cost of their life. Each Mark he placed filled him with more anxiety. He didn't want to be a killer, even when fighting against chimerafolk, molemen ,or bandits Isamu had made sure to never lethally strike them. and yet her ehe was, now using a power that could kill on people that were his allies. Was he cursed to be such a wretched thing, that the only blood on his hands would be of people who should have been able to rely on him?
The middle-aged man was dressed in his usual garb, his Land of Iron Armor being tyhe most prominent piece of equipment he had, along with the two swords resting at his right hip. The man's helmet was off, tucked under his right arm, and he looked about with his piercing blue eyes. He still had to find more people who were willing to accept the Curse Mark, it was unfortunately his mission for the time being.
Thankfully the people of the village had yet to hear of Isamu's spree of Juinjutsu placements, and he still had a solid reputation with the locals because of his deeds within the borders. As he walked the streets of the village, asking for shinobi who were looking to become more powerful, he didn't receive to many suspicious looks from the townsfolk.
Eventually Isamu found himself in a part of the village that seemed to be occupied by more locals than immigrants, and as he moved through the streets he found some of the people were leading a prayer in the middle of a small plaza, asking for their spirits to protect them from the bandits and chimera folk that had been plaguing the country as of late. Isamu found himself stopping a moment and watching the group engage in prayer in the streets of the village, listening as they asked for help.
As the prayer came to an end some of the locals noticed the armored man and looked at him, wondering why he had stayed and listened. Some came toward him and questioned him, asking him what it was he wanted. It seemed the knew him as one of the warriors who fought to protect the borders however, and the ones who had confronted him so far seemed more curious than hostile.
Deciding that he'd try and recruit potential Juinjutsu wielders from the locals as well, he answered those who had approached him, "I heard you all beseeching your spirits for protection, and found myself wishing for some form of it myself. I wonder, would any of you be willing to guide me in how to ask for protection, and how your spirits provide it?
In return, I can give a gift to any brave warrior who seeks to fight the foes outside the village. It is a dangerous one, that can kill those not strong enough to wield it correctly, but it's also incredibly potent."

It was a beautiful day, the sun was bright the weather was perfect on this tropical island. The only thing that made it less than perfect was the fact that Shinji was in this village ran by outsiders, while his interactions with the leader of the village had gone smoothly and without issue he hadn’t come to trust those who weren’t his own people. There was a portion of the village that was filled with his own people those who had been born here and grew up within their traditions. He had been here for a bit asking questions and figuring out what the true nature of those who took these lands were. So far it seemed like there was no ill will but he just wasn’t convinced just yet, here in the plaza was filled with those like him and they were asking the spirits of the land to protect and grace them in their endeavors it was a pretty standard practice in most of the tribes and settlements on the island.
Shinji had joined the others in this practice asking the various spirits for guidance and wisdom to guide him while he undertakes his task. If he did not approach this appropriately and gave his people the wrong information on who the people these outsiders were he could increase the destruction and death caused by those who only knew how to take that which is not theirs. When the prayers were done a man in armor came approaching the people there and Shinji noticed that he seemed to have a good reputation with the others. He was asking for guidance on the proper way to ask the spirits for their help in exchange he was willing to give those who wanted power a chance at gaining it but with the known risk of dying due to that person being simply to weak to handle it.
Many people were against even attempting it but Shinji liked the man’s approach of laying out the risks at the front instead of simply trying to scam those into accepting and letting the naïve take such a major risk. He was at least honorable on that front and for warriors the prospect of getting stronger with the risk of death was nothing new or unusual. Shinji approached the man who he towered over by a good foot. Shinji wore his jacket open showing his bare skin undernearth and tattooes that were traditional artwork for those of the island. His eyes didn’t hold any fear of the prospect of death but held an untrusting look in them.
“If you wish to know how to ask the spirits for their help, simply watch and learn. The spirits will choose for themselves if they wish to grant their power to someone who is not from here.” He explained as he gestured to those still praying. “We show our respect and worship to the spirits of the land similar to many others but it must come from a place of pure respect. Those who ask for the spirits help with only intentions to do dishonest and harmful things will find that their endeavors are cursed with bad luck and karma. So be honest and respectful and ask them.” He said as he showed the proper way to pray.
“I will undertake your trial for this power you speak of. Death is a normal occurrence to those who wish to get stronger and protect those around them.” Shinji would say as he kept eye contact with the man unwavering. The spirits would decide if he was worthy or not of gaining whatever power the man was offering.

Of the people who came forward and questioned Isamu, only one volunteered to receive his brand. A large and imposing man that looked Isamu right in the eyes as he talked. The same man also showed Isamu the proper stance to take when praying, and informed Isamu that it was up to the spirits to decide if he was worthy of their protection from there. Isamu briefly took the stance and did his best to mimic the man, taking a deep breath and mentally asking the spirits of this land to help guide him as he navigated the dark task before him. He didn't know if they heard him, or if they would be willing to help, but he did feel somewhat better as he finished his silent prayer. Though his Curse Mark was a dangerous thing, perhaps his forthrightness would endear him to the spirits as he attempted to use it on their people.
As he got out of the stance the man who had shown Isamu how to pray told the artificial man that he'd be willing to have the Curse Mark placed on him. Isamu respected the man's reasoning, though it didn't make Isamu feel much better about the part he might end up playing in the man's death. The wannabe samurai also appreciated that the man seemed to want the Mark to protect people, it seemed he wasn't a power hungry as the last man who'd received this gift.
"If you truly are willing, then let us find you a bed so that you can rest as you adjust to the seal."
Isamu then turned to the other locals around him, "If some of you could please help, after I apply the mark he will need people to attend him until he recovers."
If the locals listened to him, then they'd begin to create a makeshift bed in the plaza they were praying in. Many of the people also got up and moved, forming a larger circle centered on the makeshift bed before re-engaging in prayer. If the large man moved to the makeshift bedding and laid down then he moved to follow.
Mentally bracing himself for the coming task, a blue aura enshrouded Isamu as he enhanced himself. Some of the locals seemed alarmed by this, but those knowledgeable in the ninja arts weren't impressed. The artificial man then performed the Tiger seal, focusing his chakra into his left hand. Pausing a moment before applying the seal, Isamu looked the man in the eyes once more and said, "My name is Isamu, I hope to speak with you again soon brave warrior."
With that Isamu placed his hand on the man's bare torso. He injected his chakra into the man's body and it began to form the mark.

The man in front of him offering this power of his that could potentially lead to Shinji’s Death spoke of how he should probably lay down so that his body can adjust to the seal but Shinji would rather die on his feet then in a bed in any given situation so he remained standing. “Begin your work Outsider, I will remain on my feet to face my potential death as any warrior should.” He would say as the man started to glow with a blue aura and reach out and place his hand on his chest opposite of where Shinji had his Barrier Seal.
The rush of pain that flowed from the man to Shinji was immense but with it a surge of power and energy flowed into the giant. Shinji was not scared nor would he flinch or falter, when the pain would get to immense the world would grow dark to him but he knew deep down this would not be his end but simply his beginning.

Isamu watched as the towering tribal man finally fell over, impressed by how long the warrior had managed to remain standing before falling over backward. As the towering man fell back a number of the other locals all rushed to grab him, and the man was quickly carried over to the bed that had been prepared. So many people crowded around that rather than a few people taking him, everyone raised the man high and passed him along in the direction of the bed. As the unconscious man was moved Isamu noticed that the other locals were doing their own blessings as well, beseeching their spirits and asking them to strengthen the young man as he passed.
Isamu lingered awhile as the locals tended to the unconscious man in the plaza, waiting to make sure that he had survived the application of the seal. Once he was satisfied that the man had survived Isamu let out a sigh and left. None of the other locals seemed interested in the seal at the moment, perhaps they wanted to wait and see it in action before committing to something so dangerous.
Realizing the time, Isamu made his way to the Kage Tower. He had to meet up with Jun, a green haired woman he had met briefly during a dangerous mission he'd been sent on. He had an appointment with her to apply her mark, the fourth that he intended to create.
