A walk home
Haunted Halls
Any Roof in a Storm
Travin was walking through the small village in the land of hot springs on his way to the school. He had been hired by a family to escort their child home today. It was something very simple, but he had been told that the kid had gotten away from escorts before, and sometimes it had taken a few hours to find the kid. It was a job that Travin normally would not have bothered with, but due to it being a kid who has some kind of attention problem, and tends to wander off and get lost. Travin decided that it was worth his afternoon. He had spent the morning getting some rest from his travel, and finding a few jobs to fill in the rest of his afternoon. With his stomach full and his afternoon filled out Travin made his way around the small village. Taking note of the route that he was going to take to get the kid back home, and checking to see what kind of distractions the kid could find. He had noted a few things such as the small game tables, and the water fountain. Other than that though he didn’t see anything that would stick out other than other children.
Travin made his way to the school and took a seat across the street next to a water fountain of a dolphin. Sitting and waiting Travin looked up at the clock tower and saw that it was only a few minutes till school was going to get out. He took the photo he was given out of his pocket and took a look at it to make sure that he knew what the kid was going to look like. Putting the picture back into his pocket Travin looked across the street keeping an eye on the buildings. Once the kids started to roll out of the building Travin got up and walked across the street and stood by the exit. Once the kid came out Travin was standing there he looked down at the kid “My name is Travin, and your parents sent to pick you up from school today and bring you home.” The kid looked as if he couldn’t care less, pretty much what Travin expected. He took the kid by the hand and started to walk down the street back to the kids house. “I tell you what if you stay with me and not fight me we can make a short stop at the game room and play a game.” The kid instantly got more excited and agreed to stay with Travin.
Travin made it to the game room without any problems much like he had expected since the kid was wanting to play the game he was moving faster than he would have normally and allowed them to have the time to play a game. The kid went over to one of the water tables with ducks floating down a stream. The objective was to take a small fishing pole and hook the duck if you succeeded you got a piece of candy. The kid managed to get a duck and picked out a sucker. Now much happier with a sucker the kid kept up with Travin as they made their way back to the kids house. Walking up to the door Travin knocked and the kids mom opened it. Telling him that she was not expecting them home so soon. Travin explained what he had done and the woman thought it was smart, offering to let Travin stay on full time with family to help take care of the kid. Travin thought about it, but declined as he had places to be and was not going to be staying in the village. Telling the woman the same before turning and leaving letting her know that he had another job lined up he needed to get to.
Travin made his way across the small village to what is supposed to be a haunted house. A man named Berry is supposed to be meeting Travin there to pass along the stuff he was going to need to prove that the place either was or was not haunted. Walking up to the house Travin could see from a distance as it was up on a hill behind the village looking down upon it. He thought that it was probably one of the first buildings put up, or belonged to the first mayor or something. Due to the location of the house and the fact that unlike most of the houses in the village all being made of wood. This one was made of stone proving that someone spent more time and money on it than the others. Making his way up the dirt path to the house Travin could see a man standing in front of the house he had a wagon full of stuff for Travin to use. Walking up to the man he introduced himself as Berry, and started to explain about the stuff he had in the wagon. In total there were several cameras, as well as stands for them and a camera that Travin was going to wear on his shoulder so that they would be able to see what he saw and heard.
Travin thanked the man and grabbed some stuff out of the wagon taking it inside of the house. Travin didn’t believe in any hauntings but he was going to get paid to stay here for the night, and he had stayed in far less before. Making this a win win for him, a place to sleep tonight and some money on top of that. Travin walked in and started to set up the camera’s around the house. He then made his way to the recliner that was in the corner. Taking a seat with the cameras all running, Travin laid back letting his legs lift into the air as he got comfortable. He stayed like this for a while before he heard something coming from another room. With a sigh getting up he walked over to the room in question and looked in. He didn’t see anything but still heard the noise. He had a camera already set up in the room so he didn’t need to bring another one with him, and simply walked in letting the one on his shoulder catch everything as he did. Going over to the closet where the noise seemed to be coming from. It sounded much like a moan of some kind. Behind the door was a metal panel opening revealing the fuse box for the electricity in the house. He could see sparks starting to form out of one of the fuses. Hitting the breaker and removing the fuse it was completely blown and with the removal of the fuse and breaker the noise stopped.
Returning to the recliner he figured that the fuse and breaker was what the problem was. Going over what he had been told and what it could have been doing to the circuits in the house. He realized that the flashing lights and weird noises that everyone told him was coming from the house was all probably due to that breaker and fuse. Without the power going to the lights they would not flash, and without the fuse to make the noise there would be no noise. Travin returned to a relaxed position and fell asleep not hearing anything or seeing anything for the rest of the night. Waking up in the morning to Berry outside. Travin walked out and let Berry know what had happened and told him that it was all on camera, the house was not haunted and instead just had old wiring that needed fixed. Berry thanked Travin and gave him the money he was promised before Travin headed off. He had spent enough time in this small village, and he was thinking that it was time to get some food and start making his way out of the village. He had stopped for a while because he needed to find a little bit of work to keep him going on funds to make it back to the land of snow, and now he had that.
With his belly full Travin started to make his way out of town, as he left the edge of town it started to rain. Of Course it was going to rain. Why wouldn’t it rain when he was going to be spending the day traveling. Travin didn’t bother to pick up the pace as he was going to be soaked no matter what he did. No sooner than the thought crossed his mind he heard the thunder in the distance and saw a bolt of lightning. Of course a thunderstorm was going to hit him on the way out of town. Making his way to the fork in the road he saw a bunch of kids with a few adults taking shelter inside of an old barn. However the roof had a massive hole in it and it looked like someone had tried to fix it but fell through making the hole bigger. One of the people yelled out to him to get in the barn. The storm was going to be a big one. Travin gave the man a nod and pointed up to the roof. Walking over he grabbed a few pieces of scrap lumber and a large flat piece of wood that was probably a table at some point and using the surface walking tech he climbed the side of the building to everyone's shock.
Placing the old table top over the hole Travin took the pieces of lumber had taken as well and laid them across the table top to brace it further. Placing his finger on the lumber he shot his fingers through the wood using them like nails to hold everything in place. Once he was done he walked back down the wall and entered the barn. Letting them know that it was probably going to hold for at least the night, but he won’t make any promises. The people were happy that the massive hole in the middle of the roof was fixed and that the rain was not coming in anymore. They offered to let Travin stay the night in the barn with them, and have some of their food. Travin agreed and took a spot within the hay bales with the kids. It was warm there and spent the night telling the kids stories until they all fell asleep and the storm started to die down. Waking up the next day one of the men handed him some money and told him it was for help last night. Travin took the money and left the barn to the kids yelling bye after him.
