Trolling the gates (Solo mission, NK)

Today Kaori would get her first mission. He had not been assigned to a squad yet, so the number of missions she could do as a solo genin was fairly limited. Nevertheless, she would wake early all excited about the day - her first mission, you know, not a joke. The mission itself was fairly simple, patrol the village borders, report anything and anyone unusual, stuff like that. The mission was a routine that was being done by the village ninja constantly, so she thought what the hell, it carries minor risk, I'm allowed to do it and it pays decently for it so why not do it? The girl would normally not go on missions but rather spend her time home, doing her experiments and stuff. Anyway, today was different. Getting all the equipment she might need, Kaori departed for the meeting spot where her patrol unit would assemble. They would relieve the previous group, taking over the patrol route. Her group was made of 3 people, including herself. The others seemed to be Chuunins, though. She was a bit surprised to see Chuunins go on low ranked missions like this, but the girl would not say anything about it. Their meeting spot was by the gates to the village, as soon as the previous group came back, they exchanged a few words and moved out. At first it seemed rather fun, but soon it proved to be much less exciting that the girl expected. Going back and forth through their route for hours got boring pretty quick and soon Kaori's thoughts slipped somewhere else as she would follow the path purely on autopilot. She had been thinking about bloodline limits, the unique powers developed over generations. Who knows what kind of bloodline limits are out there, she managed to find one or two - the Hisao boy she killed and Gilgamesh, both had bloodline limits of famous and powerful clans. Her mind was absorbed in various thoughts and ideas on how she could obtain more power by adding the specific genetic material containing the bloodlines to herself. She would not notice how the time slipped by and their patrol was finished. When they were done, the girl was full of inspiration and would immediately return to her experiments.
