King of the Jungle
Tue Mar 04, 2014 12:13 am
The thick jungle of Amegakure was filled with life, though no one could tell at a first glance. The twighligt gave the entire scene an orange glow. The trees were as thick as they were tall..and they were at least fourty two meters tall on average. Their trunks twisted upward, and their branches seemed to reach for the stars. Red eyes peered at the young ninja Koaru from within the foliage and shrubbery. Koaru was sitting on a piece of driftwood, which was floating down stream on a grand river. The rivier was undisturbed, and without a ripple in sight. However, under the surface, the river was teeming with aquatic beasts. They all were equipped with razor sharp fangs, some with lengths of a meter. Each passing fish seemed to be outsized by the next passing fish. Koaru could not see a thing, through all the murky waters. Yet still, Koaru sat on his makeshift boat, legs crossed, and meditated. He had a lot to think about, what with the chuunin exams fast approaching, the sudden disappearance of his rival, and somewhat of a friend, Kenzo Uchiha, his recent recruitment as Arcanis Hedatari’s personal guard, and even his most recent training with the Amekage, Worr Terumi. Koaru’s life was occurring at such an alarming rate, he was unsure he was truly grasping it all. Why was all of this happening, and of all people for it to happen to, why him? Koaru could not fathom an appropriate answer. The sun lingered in place, caressing Koaru’s skin with its rays, and glinting off of his headband. The reflection shined off into the nearby thicket and exposed the faces of a few grotesque looking animals. Koaru turned his head and opened one eye to acknowledge their presence. His black colored iris reflected the deadly gazes of all the animals hiding in the bushes. When he moved his head, the trajectory of the glinting light also moved. The light now shone onto the river, revealing the beasts below surface. The river monsters and the jungle beasts all had their sights on Koaru, as if he would be their next meal. Koaru closed the eye he had once opened to return the beasts’ gaze. It was as if Koaru was ignoring them. The silence that ensued made the tension potent, as nothing moved, except the flowing river. About two meters from where Koaru was drifting, there was a small dip in the river, like a miniature waterfall. The drop from the twelve inch fall would barely make a splash, yet the surrounding animal’s anticipation for the drop made it seem like it was a twelve story drop. Koaru floated closer to the dip, closing the gap between them. One and a half meters away. One meter away. Half of a meter away……
“Bloop”
Suddenly, all the silence and serenity was demolished as two beasts erupted from the river, and two beasts swooped in from their stalking position amonst the gigantic Amazonian trees. A barracuda viper slithered above surface hissing with murderous intent as it pointed its imposing fangs at Koaru. All its razor sharp teeth were capable of decapitating Koaru instantly, but its two frontal fangs, at least two meters long, were especially death threatening. Leaping from the river on the opposite side of the barracuda viper monster was an eel blowfish monster. It was about nine meters in length, and had decent size teeth. However, that was not the most powerful feature. The beast inhaled and assumed a round and bloated state, drawing out sharp spines all around its body. The eel blow fish monster was set to land directly on Koaru, threatening to impale him on impact. Matching the river monsters in ferocity were the two land animals that swooped in from above. One was a Panther Mantis that had a sleek black fur, flesh ripping fangs, and long imposing mantis like appendages. They each had a set of spiky blades that rotated furiously in place like a rabid chainsaw. Beside it was a Lion Hawk, which flew with one flap of its majestic feathered wings and revealed its talon claws. It opened its pointy beak and let out an incredible roar that shook the entire jungle of Amegakure. The four monsters closed in on Koaru with the extreme intent to kill. Their combined efforts would leave an ordinary person left in pieces. However, Koaru was no ordinary boy. Koaru’s eyes shot open, and the color of his iris changed. They were now jade green, and had a serious demeanor about them. Koaru did not say any words, but his expression could be interpreted to tell the whole story. He would not forgive these animals for interrupting his peaceful state of meditation. Among the monks of the Garinado Clan, disrupting one’s meditation was taboo, and punishment for such actions could have reached the extremity of death. Koaru’s hands were pressed firmly upon his lap. His hair began to suspend in the air as Koaru’s chakra stormed around him, sending the water from the river below him rippling into waves. An ominous figure manifested from Koaru’s chakra, cloaked completely in black. The figure lacked detail, except for its long black figure and wispy, dreaded hair, imitating Koaru’s. The figure suddenly opened its eyes to reveal the Moringan. The gaze emited a powerful pressure that could silence even the loudest of beasts. Four kunai emerged from Koaru’s kunai holster. The figure behind Koaru, and between all four of the attacking animals, suddenly sprouted four arms. It moved as if to grab the four kunai, but in reality, the kunai were floating of their own accord. This was Koaru’s signature technique, the one that would make all the ladies adore him. The kunai cut through all the beast with blinding speed. After four splashes occurred, signifying the swift end of the assault, the battle aura behind Koaru dissipated. The beasts floated to the surface of the the river, facing belly up. They were sliced neatly and were now bleeding into the river, giving it a warm red tint under the twilight sun. The kunai floated back into their holster belonging to Koaru, who was still in his sitting position with his legs folded and hands on his lap. Koaru exchanged looks with the rest of the animals, who watched from within the bushes or under the river surface. Koaru’s expression seemed to say daringly,
'Anyone else?'

Koaru left the piece of driftwood that he sad on and used his chakra to step out onto the surface of the river. He looked for an opening or path i the thicket that he could walk through and further explore the Ame jungle. Koaru had just killed four mighty beasts of the Ame jungle as they attacked him in a rabid stride for dominance. Koaru, who had no interest in such a thing, disposed of the animals quickly. His use of his signatue jutsu, Fuuton: Jade Storm Gale, effectively cut through the giants of animals, including the barracuda viper monster was an eel blowfish monster. The beasts were all now floating belly up and down stream in the river, and all the other beasts of the jungle that watched the scene stared in awe as their leaders were beaten in less than seconds. Koaru simply walked away from the area, as if nothing even happened. Soon, Koaru was off of the surface of the water, and walking off into the jungle, disappearing into the thicket.
Koaru drew his Heavenly Sorrow ninjato and cut through the vines and branches that blocked his path. It seemed to take forever to cut through the foliage, and Koaru's arms were growing tired. When he looked around, there was an endless assortment of wildlife, sceneries, and mysterious looking points of exploration. Koaru wondered what kind of secrets Amegakure could be hiding within its jungles. Koaru walked past a colorful field of jungle plants and discovered a small cave in the side of a cliff, cleverly disguised under the foliage. The leaves look placed in such a way that one would suspect someone was hiding something. Koaru could not resist, nor deny that his curiosity had been tickled. So, Koaru skipped over a few tree tops, swung on a few branches, then landed in the jungle clearing just ten meters away from where the hidden jungle cave was. Koaru walked gingerly toward it. Peering from a short distance, a pair of eyes noted a small Konoha genin trespassing into sacred grounds. The stalking figure let out a low ominous growl, insulted by the boy who was trespassing. It was a gorilla hornet monster. The beast was at least ten meters tall, yet its figure was almost completely hidden in the thicket and partially behind one of Amegakure's infamously tall jungle trees. The beast's upper half was an incredibly bulked Gorilla with large arms and knuckles that had wear and tear on it. The gorilla had incredible scars on its pecs and eyes that told frightening stories about what the monster had been through. On its lower half, there was the large thorax of a hornet, striped in yellow orange and black, with a deep purple stinger on the very end. A thin set of wings were laid out slick on the beasts backside, and were twitching, almost ready to take off. The boy was approaching dangerously closely to the cave that the gorilla hornet beast seemed to be so protective over. The gap between Koaru and the cave became smaller and smaller. Ten meters away. Nine meters away. Eight meters away. Seven meters away. Six meters away. Five meters away. Four meters away. Three meters away. Two meters away. One meter away.
"ROOOAR!"
The beast took flight, setting its wings into a furious humming sound. The giant Gorilla Hornet was dashing in Koaru's direction with rage swollen in every inch of its massive body. Its blood bumped vigorously, as expressed by the swollen and pulsating vein on its forehead. In less than five seconds, the monster was within arms reach of the boy, who must have looked like an ant in comparison. The beast would swing its right arm into a fist, and hammer down on the boy, attempting to squash him with all his might. The force of the blow would demolish the earth under Koaru's feet. The monster would then left his arm, and unleash a flurry of stabs with its stinger on its thorax. The stinger was at least a meter in length and could pierce through the boys entire midsection and leave a gaping hole. Koaru continued walking, unflinchingly. His eyes connected with the gorilla hornet's and suddenly transitioned to activate his Moringan. His unique eyes were Jade green i color, and have a series of v shaped markings within the iris. When Koaru looked through those eyes, time seemed to slow down for him, allowing him to process everything with ample time before acting. In Koaru's right hand was his ninjato blade, which he tightened his grip on. Koaru flickered from sight just when the Gorilla Hornet's fist was inches from the top of Koaru's head. The impact of the beast's attack set off an explosion of dirt and rubble. Koaru reappeared two meters above the beast, with his ninjato poised to attack in the air above his head. Koaru summoned a thunderbolt from the sky, and emitted a stream of electricity, electrocuting the attacking beast. The gorrilla let out a roar of anguish before collapsing, landing on its hind insect legs. Its body had been charred, and its eyes had lost focus. Koaru landed on the monster's forehead in a crouching position. Koaru performed a front flip and landed firmly on the ground, just a few feet away from the cave. Koaru peered through the shrubbery that concealed the cave entrance. Koaru was surprised by what he saw. There was a litter of infantile gorillas crying, having been woken up by the battle that just occured. Koaru felt shame and guilt. Clearly, Koaru had just beaten their mother right in front of them. However, Koaru's feelings were interrupted by a sudden realization. The gorilla hornet beast's children were one hundred percent gorilla, and lacked a hornet thorax. Koaru found this curious, realizing that someone or something was responsible for a genetic swap of sorts. Koaru left the scene. Koaru smiled, and realized that Amegakure had more secrets than he initially thought.

Re: King of the Jungle

Koaru found himself deep in the Amegakure jungle, on a small dirt path. The sounds of the wilderness around him was enough to drive someone insane after a few hours. Koaru had spent the last few days immersed in this jungle for training, compounding all that has happened in his life since he first became a genin. He had met fellow genin of Konohagakure, with two special ninja in particular, Jason Uzumaki, a boy who had the power to create chains out of his own chakra, and Kenzo Uchiha, a true child born of fire. Those two boys spurred Koaru to work harder to achieve his goal, forming a three way rivalry. Then Koaru met a strange shinobi from the Village Hidden In Stone, by the name of Arcanis Hedatari, who promptly recruited Koaru with the promise of the one thing Koaru held dear, women. Because of this promise, it did not take much convincing on Arcanis's part. Since then, Koaru traveled the world with the Iwa chuunin, having visited The village hidden in stone, and then the village hidden in rain. Which then brought Koaru to meeting his new sensei, also known as the current Amekage, Worr Terumi. Worr had tought Koaru the importance of a shinobi's inner calm. Even in the midst of death and utter chaos, a true shinobi can and will maintain complete balance. After his training with Worr, Koaru took a trip to the massive jungle area Amegakure was quite famous for.
Now, Koaru was waist deep in the jungle, uncovering its many secrets. While there, Koaru faced many strange creatures of the jungle, including a fusion between a barracuda and a snake, a fusion between a blowfish and an eel, a fusion between a lion and a hawk, a fusion between a black panther and a praying mantis, and finally a fusion between a gorilla and a hornet. The barracuda viper slithered above water surface hissing with murderous intent as it pointed its imposing fangs at Koaru. All its razor sharp teeth were capable of decapitating Koaru instantly, but its two frontal fangs, at least two meters long, were especially death threatening. Leaping from the river along with the barracuda viper monster was an eel blowfish monster. The gorilla hornet monster was at least ten meters tall, yet its figure was almost completely hidden in the thicket and partially behind one of Amegakure's infamously tall jungle trees. The beasts were all mutated genetically, and a mix of two different animals. At first, Koaru believed that these were natural occurrence in a seemingly impossible natural environment. But then, Koaru saw the Gorilla Hornet's children, who were one hundred percent gorilla, and showd no signs of mutation. It was because of this that Koaru suspected that an external force mutated the animals of the Ame jungles. Koaru sought to explore this mystery further, and found himself deeper in the jungle that any ninja would even think of traveling into.
Koaru, after at least an hour of traveling, found himself in a clearing, at the foot of an extremely long set of stars. The stairs dissapeared toward the top among the clouds, however at looking at the entire picture, Koaru could see that it was a giant pyramid. Koaru was amazed completely at the sheer size of the building. It took Koaru a while to finally notice that there were two guards at the foot of the staircase. Koaru's face grew more serious, and he activated his Moringan. Koaru could see that both of them posessed chakra, and the basic anatomy of a human, proven by the neural network which Koaru could see plainly with his special eyes. However, anyone could see that these two were not your average humans. They had the faces of bloodhound dogs! They wore fancy headdresses, mirroring the image of the the legendary Anubis. The Anubis was a regularly referenced figure in Garinado culture, resulting in a naturally intrigued response from Koaru. The boy took a few steps closer to the guards. Each of them suddenly held out their hand and manipulated their chakra. Their chakra condensed and formed a spear, with a triangular point. Their weapons crossed, blocking Koaru's path to go up the stairs. They did not say a single word. Koaru knew that these...things...were another result of a strange genetic mutation. However, in this case, one of the prime sources of DNA were from humans. Koaru was deeply motivated to understand how this was possible.
"How did you become like this?"
There was no response. Instead, both anubis swung their spears and moved to stab Koaru. In response, Koaru leaped backwards, moving out of the attacks range. He placed his hand over the hilt of his ninjato, secured in the scabbard located horizontally on his waist. Just as Koaru anticipated, the attackers followed up with more spear attacks. Koaru disappeared and reappeared a meter away from his opponents, with his ninjato drawn and extended. After a brief moment of silence, the anubis fell. Koaru sheathed his blade then sucked his teeth. He had not meant to hurt them to that degree, as he still needed some information from them. However, what was done, was done. Koaru headed towards the stairs and began his long climb.

Re: King of the Jungle

Koaru could guess what would be coming next. The secret, and the answer to what Koaru was looking for could be found up these stairs. Koaru sighed as he craned his neck to see the height of the stair's reach, and how incredibly steep they were. While planning on how he would get up there, Koaru decided that he would use his chakra to secure his footing during the climb. Not only would falling from that height kill him, but in the event that it did not kill him, it would also be an incredible pain to have to start his journey over from step one. Koaru let out another deep sigh as he took the first step.
The anubis that he had previously defeated got back on their feet, as if they could sense Koaru trespassing on the temple they were protecting. They used their chakra to create a trident instead of a spear. The prong in the center of each trident was longer than the other two on either side of it. After a few theatrical flipping and twirling of the weapons, the two resilient Anubis cut diagonally at Koaru's neck and torso. Meanwhile Koaru remained calm, with his back turned on his opponents. Koaru weaved the necessary hand seals, concealing his movements from the Anubis by blocking their line of vision with his body. The boy received two fatal slashes, cutting violently into his jugular and the flesh over his spine. His body crumpled onto the foot of the stairs in a falling motion. The anubis recoiled from their attack and tapped their tridents on the ground, as if to finalize the end of the fight. However, Koaru was between and slightly behind the two mutants, with two kunai in hand. One kunai was held in a shanking position while the other one was set in a downward stab position. Koaru's Moringan eyes were grimly shaded under the length of his dreaded hair. As he lifted his head, he spoke solemnly,
"I'll only ask once more. Who are you and how did you take this form?"
There was a dead of silence, with only the sound of a tense wind blowing over the three men. Koaru now held both kunai knives up, with one at each of his enemy's necks. The tip of the blades were slightly pressed against their muscular necks. The anubis did not move a muscle, and were almost completely emotionless. Koaru figured they were either exceptionally well trained...or no longer in possession of their conscious. Then, to Koaru's surprise, one of them spoke.
"Only he who carries a surgeon's burden may walk his path."
As the anubis on Koaru's right spoke these words, the one on Koaru's left pointed to a large boulder the size of a small mountain just beyond the nearby thicket. Koaru slowly withdrew his weapons, releasing the tension between them. When Koaru finally pocketed his kunai inside his holster, Koaru turned his eye from the guards to the the direction in which one of them pointed. Koaru looked a bit puzzled, but then pieced together that the boulder he was pointing to did not look naturally placed. The color of the sediment on the boulder did not match the soil of the entire jungle. Koaru walked away from the guards and towards the boulder. Koaru peered over his shoulder back at in the direction of the guards. He wanted to make sure it was not a ruse to catch the young ninja off guard. They were walking back to their post directly below the foot of the stairs of the temple. They crossed their tridents to block the path once again, emotionlessly continuing their duties. Koaru turned his head back. This must have been the real deal. Koaru thought about how well hidden this secret was. To actually have worked in a riddle in this whole expedition. It almost seemed cliche. Koaru finally reached the large boulder. Its color was a pasty brown and looked like paper mache. However, this was the last think Koaru noticed. There was an incredibly offensive odor coming from the rock. Koaru gagged for a bit, then got himself together.
"Remember...do it for the ladies"
Koaru gulped, then inhaled and exhaled out of his mouth, ignoring the smell. He weaved a hand sign and transformed into the likeness of the anubis guarding the temple. Koaru lifted the rock, but struggled. It was really heavy, and Koaru had to use all his might to lift it. Koaru managed to get it onto his back, hunching him over. Koaru took slow, counted steps, heaving the rock and breathing heavily out his mouth. Koaru ocassionally gagged, as he complained that he could even taste the aweful stench. Koaru was soon back at the base of the pyramidal temple, where he came face to face with the half dog mutant guards he had just fought. The beasts stepped aside almost immediately. As Koaru passed, the anubis let out faint wimpers, like a dog in pain. A side effect of gaining a canine's sensitive smelling ability, no doubt. Koaru took one step at a time, scaling the temple of about one million steps. Koaru was already sweating, and was having doubts on his ability to make it to the temple's entrance. However, Koaru recalled all that he was doing this for. Koaru remembered his friends, Kenzo Uchiha and Jason Uzumaki, his masters, Arcanis Hedatari and Worr Terumi, his peers waiting for him to compete in the upcoming chuunin exams, and most importantly, all the women counting on him to become stronger so he could protect them.
Koaru mustered more strength as he got his second wind. Koaru continued to scale the stairs, step after step, and soon, was among the clouds. Koaru found in increasingly difficult to climb with his sight clouded....literally. Koaru lugged onward, bearing the "surgeon's burden" on his backside. Koaru wondered what that could have possibly meant. Koaru then recounted all he had learned while here in the jungles of the Village hidden in the rain. The mutated beasts, who were at one point, just regular animals, suggesting that someone was behind some kind of genetic experimentation. To further the evidence, the anubis guards at the base of the stairs mentioned something about a surgeons burden. Koaru could guess that a surgeon was responsible for these mutations. But, how? and why? Koaru would only learn the truth of the matter by reaching the top of the temple...
