What a bland place
Sun Sep 21, 2014 8:16 pm
Urek yawned, the sound muffled by the thick scarf wrapped around his neck and lower half of his face. The young man was dressed in his usual clothing, save for the golden scarf he wore. The cold didn't bother him all that much, surprising considering how he had grown up in a far hotter place. All around him was snow, honestly it was such a boring looking place. The most colourful thing for miles around was Urek himself. His appearance made him stick out like a sore thumb on the otherwise white canvas that was the Snow country. There was no specific reason for him being here, he had just wandered in this direction.
The Snow Country was foreign to Urek. He had not travelled this far north in a long time. However his studying of maps and the like gave him the basic idea of where to find settlements where he could stay if he ever needed to. It had surprised him to find out people actually lived here. With all the snow around there wasn't much plantlife, and he didn't see how animals could survive here either. Urek assumed that they must survive through trading with other places for food, but with what? What was so valuable out here that made people capable of living in this place. He was curious, and his curiosity would be sated.
He had spent the last few days trekking through the snow, which rations had slowly dwindled away. No doubt soon he would have to either head back out of the country or try to find a settlement of some sort. He hoped for the latter of course, all of his work getting this far would have gone to waste if he just turned back and left. Such thoughts had plagued him for the last few hours. However he had caught sight of something in the distance. The outline of buildings could be barely seen on the horizon. Urek wasn't quite sure what settlement it was exactly, but it would likely be better than nothing. Hopefully he would be able to replenish his rations and then head back out. He didn't like staying in a place for too long, it was a waste of time.
It took the man about twenty or so minutes to get close to the settlement. Approaching the gates he looked around for any sign of people. He didn't expect a welcome of any sort, but it wouldn't surprise him if he was stopped when trying to enter. Some settlements didn't take kindly to new arrivals, perhaps this was one of them. Of course if no one came out to question him or anything, he would just walk straight on into the village.

Seemed like no one had any trouble with him arriving. Perhaps this was a place that was indifferent to visitors. That made a nice change. With that in his mind Urek entered the village and immediately went to find something to eat.
