A Forelorn Search Empty A Forelorn Search

Altar stood in the chambers of the leader of Amegakure. He was here on his mission from Xyxer, now who he assumed to be his full time Tenkage. He was supposed to be finding information on why Ame had been deserted, but he couldn't really see much. It was dark, and the rain tapping the windows found itself very distracting. There was nothing clearly on the desk, so he would apparantly need to feed more deeply into it than that. This was going to take a while, or so he figured. Altar bit his thumb, summoning Maya for some assistance in searching, as well as for someone to talk to while they searched.

After a small while of scouring the room, Altar had found a variety of curious happenings and things scattered about the room, but nothing positive and nothing all that open. He wanted to find some obvious answer that would scream itself out to him, but with the dim lights and the grey skies, poor lighting combined with the cluttered space was proving to be more difficult to search then he thought. He briefly wondered if what he was doing would be intruding, against some form of village law. But he didn't think much of it. This place was abandoned, and he had his mission. He was supposed to do whatever was asked of him by the Tenkage.

After a few more aggravating minutes of searching, Altar let out a small, weary sigh. This was getting to be very annoying now, and nothing really popped out to him. All the strange things he had found had been much to past for any real notice, and most had been simply bad building errors. He had checked behind pictures, portraits, and paintings. He had looked between and under most loose bricks and tiles of floor. He had checked everywhere for buttons, levers, anything. And he had come up empty handed, aside from the small errors in the building. A loose brick here, a rusty nail there. A while back he had stubbed his toe and something that felt cold and metal, and was almost sure he had found it. Turned out it was a strange, small metal cube. Upon further investigation, it turned out to be a magnet of sorts. Considering it somewhat fun to play with, Altar had pocketed the thing. Now, feeling frustrated, Altar took it out and tossed it away. It clanged on something, but Altar didn't really care to look at this point.

He was beyond annoyed and aggravated now, he was purely pissed. This was degrading and wasting his time. He had scoured all over the damned place, and there was no safe. Kicking some papers into the air and slamming his hands on the desk, Altar gave another sigh, dust now floating up from the here and again unchecked patches that Altar had considered to small to fit a safe. And as the dust came up to him, Altar sneezed into his elbow, crooking his neck. When he opened his eyes, he saw something small and metallic looking. Kneeling down, Altar realized that this was the magnet he had thrown earlier. It was stuck in between the boards of the floor, in a crack, and refused to budge under slight pressure. Almost as if something metal was drawing it towards it. Something metal...

Altar cursed himself and his foolish seemingly time saving methods when he had searched. He drew his hand along the floorboard, noting the array of cracks running along them. Singularly, they all seemed much too small to fit a safe. Together, they were just the correct size. Altar continued running his hand along the board, occasionally pulling until he felt the board give, and he tugged it up. Just as he had thought, he saw a dial, along with a door hinge. Pulling the other boards up, Altar managed to free the safe and pull it to ground level. A dial... this would mean more searching. Looking around the desk, Altar found a small scrap of parchment paper, with some numbers scrawled on it. It must've been an important date or something, but Altar didn't think too much into it. He simply put the numbers into the dial, and wrenched open the safe door when he heard the click.

Inside were documents, letters, all sorts of paper. It was clearly important, flipping through some of it, and so Altar pocketed it. There was also a bag of what he assumed to be ryo, and he grabbed that as well. After seeing this village, as much as Altar didn't believe in stealing, he truly didn't think they'd be needing it anymore. And with that, Altar would slide the safe back beneath the floorboards, closing it and re spinning the dial. He would cover it back up, and put the combination back where he had found it, ensuring that he left the place as he had entered it. Except for the contents of the safe gone, and as long as he was at it, Altar grabbed some other important looking documents that had been scattered from around the room. He at least wanted to respect the belongings of who had been here after his last journey, but he knew that he needed as much as he could get.

With the money, as well as the papers and such tucked away, safe from the rain, Altar would give Tenebris a heads up, and proceed to leave Amegakure once again, now that his mission was complete, Maya de-summoning as well. But perhaps...now he would come back. He was starting to feel that he could truly make Amegakure a place worth living. So perhaps later, he would come back and take this village as his own. When he was more confident in his skill as a leader, and as a fighter.
