Some E-ranks to Kill the Time
Tue Nov 01, 2016 3:59 am
Reizo had some spare time in his practice schedule, so he thought he would give some other basic jutsu a try. He had already mastered the 4 jutsu needed to graduate the Academy, but he was still hungry for more training. He of course couldn't advance on to harder techniques until he was a confirmed Genin, but he figured he could still get something out of other low rank jutsu that he could get his hands on. Reizo had spent his time after class yesterday in the library, looking up other jutsu he could try. One in particular that caught his attention was a very low level, basic medical ninjutsu used to clot up shallow wounds and bruises. Reizo was always inspired by the medical corps, and thought that maybe he had an inclination toward the medical arts, so he wanted to give it a try. Even if he ended up not pursuing a medical career, having a fundamental medical background could never hurt. This particular jutsu came at two different levels - the first was just a clotting technique, while the higher level was more for setting bones temporarily to allow for continued combat until further healing could take place. Reizo planned on only working on the first level, as the second level required knowledge too far advanced for his age and experience.
Reizo wasn't exactly sure how he would even practice this jutsu. It would require healing a wound, but he had such great respect for life that he couldn't bring himself to just harm an animal to train his jutsu. He could always harm himself, but if he failed what would his mom say? He didn't want to risk that either. Reizo felt it would be best if he simply went on a hunt for some injured animal somewhere, no matter how long it might take. Journeying into the woods of the training grounds, Reizo began to scour the trees for an injured bird, and kept his eyes scanning the ground for wounded wildlife. Reizo didn't even have to wander particularly far when he came across a bird that had gotten tangled up in some thorns. There were some light scratches, but nothing too damaging. Wanting to help to the best of his ability, Reizo performed the needed hand signs and cupped the small bird in both hands, gently prying it from the thorn bush. His hands soon were enveloped by a warm green chakra, and the wounds on the bird slowly stemmed their bleeding and closed up. Although he wished he could've done a better job, Reizo recognized that was all he could offer, and then let the bird go free from his hands, giving it a gentle toss. The bird immediately took flight and disappeared among the tree tops. He was far from satisfied with his work, but Reizo acknowledged that he did what he could, and that was good enough for him. He just wanted to make life better for all the creatures around him.
The other jutsu that had piqued Reizo's interest was a secret taijutsu technique that had been passed down from generation to generation. It was extremely simple and Reizo knew he would be able to pull it off with ease, but the boy still wanted to confirm that he could pull it off, should he ever need it. It still had some basic utility after all, even if it was kind of a ridiculous jutsu. All he had to do was focus chakra in his finger tips, and practice releasing it all at once to get the power he wanted out of the jutsu. The only real perks of the jutsu were that it violated a lot of shinobi (and some could even construe it as sexual harassment) and would humiliate them should he get it to land. The legendary technique known as 1000 Years of Death was of course the technique Reizo was hoping to master after his short training session. He didn't have any human to practice it on, nor did he suspect he would find anyone willing to have it used on them, so all he had was himself and the tree he would use to practice his chakra release on.
Reizo positioned himself about 2 feet away from the tree in order to be able to fully extend his arms and body from a crouching position. The best way to get the amount of thrust needed to successfully pull the jutsu off would be to use his whole body. If he learned anything from his sports, it's that he knew the primary strength of any jump, lunge, or thrust came from the legs. Reizo practiced some squatting lunges from his current distance to prepare himself for the upcoming attempt, and he planned to throw his whole body into the tree with his index and middle fingers of each hand extended as he lunged. Putting his hands together so that only his two fingers were extended, Reizo practiced the motion a few times to get accustomed to the lunge he would need to perform, softly striking the tree each time. He mentally marked a particular point on the tree to aim at, as his target in combat would be very small, and once he was comfortable and consistently hitting that mark, Reizo began to put some chakra into his fingers. Using the tiger hand sign to conduct his chakra to his two fingers of each hand, Reizo threw his body forward and extended his arms. When he first made contact with the tree, Reizo released the chakra in a quick burst and proudly announced the jutsu he was performing: "ONE THOUSAND YEARS OF DEATH!"
The force of the impact was enough to strip a fair amount of bark from the tree and leave a small mark where the contact had been made. Reizo examined the mark and nodded in approval. The boy would smile and then walk away, content that he had essentially just signed and marked his territory on that tree. Reizo then began the short walk back to his house for dinner.
