The Finale, Finally

A pause as the answer was considered, a crackling of static, then silence Darkness and silence before the voice hissed again.

"You were not asked who was on par with you. Rethink the question again, you will not be given a third chance."

As if in emphasis, the door behind the genin snapped shut, blocking any route of escape.

Senshi blinked in confusion at the Raikage words, his mind duly noted the snaping sound of the door closing. Perhaps he had spoken too much so that the Raikage had not heard his words. He had directly said that Komon and Reizo were on par OR better than him. Still it wasn't in the boy to be rude, especially to the person who was his supreme overlord. Despite the inherent threat of the door snapping closed and cutting off any escape route, he didn't seem to react to it. It wasn't as though he would run away from the Raikage anyways, his life was in the mans hands with a simple order. 

"I apologize Raikage-Dana for being unclear with my words. Both Genin's Hyuuga Komon and Shoyu Reizo exceed me in several qualities. Genin Reizo is far better st motivating others than I, far more understand of other people's emotions and how to react to them, and far better at taijutsu. Not to mention he seems to have an inherent talent for combat that I lack." He paused, resisting the urge to move. Sitting as he was, was incredibly tiring. "Genin Hyuuga Komon is not only better than I at Taijutsu but also Ninjutsu. His ability to develop plans on the move and account for several different scenarios exceeds my own. His chakra potency and ability to take damage is also greater than my own."

The genin gave a slight incline of his head to show his respect for the Raikage. Hopefully the man understood what Senshi was saying now that he had laid it specifically what the two Genin were better at than he. It was important to remember that Senshi had his own strengths as well, very few people who held the same rank as another could be better at everything than someone else. Senshi had his qualities and Reizo and Komon had theirs.

Taking a moment to contemplate the confession, the eerie voice spoke up once more. "If you had a choice now, soldier. If you were told only one of you three could become chunin, who would you choose?"

It was time to see if the boy prized his village or personal progress more. A ninja wasnt a ninja until he or she recognized a higher purpose.

Senshi gave what could only be interpreted as a half shrug at this next question. It really wasn't a matter he had to consider. He had stayed out loud and thought multiple times the answer to this question. "Shoyu Reizo, sir. He's beyond demonstrated better leadership qualities and control then I have. He's also demonstrated a unique ability to quickly pass on knowledge to others. He more than meets the criteria of a Chuunin and would push others to excel while also doing so himself." More than once the dark haired Genin had noticed Reizo's physical, mental, and chakra prowess. His summon Fu only added to that ability and had inspired Senshi himself to agree to a summoning contract.

If it came to it he would gladly serve on any team led by his fellow Genin. The boy had taught him a lot about how to be a better taints fighter and assess a battle field, that he would not other wise have learned. Not to mention during their third chuunin exam trial Reizo had far outstripped him in our ability. The final technique he had performed would likely have done true damage to the Raikage if Senshi himself had not been getting in his way. Not to mention the final plan that had truly show cased each of their abilities earning them a passing grade had been developed by the other boy.

As the answer was uttered, the door creaked open once more. When the voice spoke again, there was a slight hint of pride in it.

"Well done, you have proven that you place the village above a personal promotion once again. The village, not an individual. No one person can be above what we have built."

Light began to permeate the room, revealing a wooden desk with some papers, the papers for Senshi's promotion to chunin, all signed and stamped.

"Take this to the mission counter, you are now a chunin of Kumo. Lives now rest upon your shoulders so if any are forfieted in vain, be sure yours is the first in line."

After a few seconds, the voice added. "By naming the Genin, you have made his journey harder. He will be watched more closely and tested more vigouriously to determine if your faith in him is justified. You may leave."

Senshi stared in awe at the paperwork, he still couldn't see the form of his Raikage but he took the words to heart. He would never allow one under him to be harmed if he could help it. He'd have to ensure his study into tactics and strategy were increased so that he didn't put anyone in danger due to his own failings. He felt a flicker of excitement about sharing the news with his team, and surprise at the fact that Reizo was not yet a Chuunin. He had thought the other boy to be ahead of him, but that was apparently not so. Senshi stood pushing himself to his full height and feeling the slight soreness in his legs. He saluted the desk crisply, being that he didn't know where the Raikage was exactly. "On my honor sir, I will not fail you or Kumo." Honor after all meant more than his life. He stepped forwards gently taking the proffered paperwork before giving a final salute and deep bow of respect and turning to leave. He didn't want to take up more of the Taikages time after all.
