Task: Inside the villages there is not a training center that allows nin to hone their skills when attempting to rank up in their respective areas. Once such room is dedicated to the arts of showing your skill in your craft and the jutsu you have learned. This area is monitored by Jounin ensuring no one slacks off. Your mission is to perform at least 3 jutsu to show your understanding of how to mold and use chakra.
This was the second time that Komori would try for a chuunin exam. Actually, it was not even an exam as of yet, it was merely the preliminaries to get into the REAL chuunin exams. Komori being the impatient little bastard, in a non literal sense of the word, that he was, found these to be rather tedious and wanted to progress as quickly as possible. He had recently met the newly promoted chuunin Senshi and this only furthered his drive to progress in these time consuming trials. It was not like he had a life or anything outside of these exams that would cause him to not be able to spend as much time on them as he wanted to or anything. Amazingly, he had actually managed to get a good night’s sleep the night before so that he would be well rested for the exam that felt like a real exam from the bits and pieces that he had heard from his brother bragging about how ahead of Komori he was. Komori quickly ran into the kitchen in boxer briefs with a heart pattern on them before he hurriedly fixed himself a meal to enjoy. He wanted to make sure he did not have to eat towards the exam, as he did not know when he was going up. It seemed as though a lot of genin were trying to earn the highly sought after rank of chuunin. Sadly, it seemed that this task was too daunting for many people, who opted to either remain as a genin or give up entirely. He heard a knock on the door and put a piece of toast in his mouth as he fruitlessly tried wiggling into a pair of pants before the door opened. Komon must have left earlier this morning and left it unlocked, like the idiot he is. Komori shook his head before realizing no one was there to witness it. At least until Lilly entered his home.
Lilly walked inside, completely unaware of what Komori looked like. She did not have to be invited in, so at least Komori knew she was not a vampire. She had never been to his home before, so when she walked in, she did an overview of the room starting from her left hand side and gradually letting her gaze wander by until her eyes landed on the disastrous sight that was Komori in the morning. She quickly blushed and then looked towards the ground. Komori went red in the face as he finished putting on his clothes. Around others, he would usually have no shame whatsoever and make some witty comment about it. But not around her. For some reason, when he was around her he tended to act different. More reserved, more self conscious, more… mature. That was one of the reasons he loved being around her. She made him more mature, and seemingly a better man than he was used to being. Perhaps even the best man he could be. “Sorry about that, Lilly,” he said as she stopped averting her gaze and looked into his eyes with her big brown ones. That was a rather effective weakness of his in regards to women. He remembered the piece of toast that he had been holding in his hands after putting his pants on and took a bite before saying, “What brings you by?” in a muffled voice accompanied by the sound of chewing his own food, albeit with his mouth closed. He was not a total neanderthal, after all.
“I just wanted to check up on you,” she said as she looked around the room, “you haven’t been injuring yourself as much lately, and while I’m happy about that, it means I’ve seen you less and less. And you’re going on missions outside the village…” she said as she stepped towards the windows on the opposite side of the house. These would show a view past the village and was rather great for sunrises, which had already passed that morning. “I’ve never been outside the village...” Her voice trailed off before she began to show more excitement than longing. Was this just a tactic of hers or was she just prone to a wandering mind like himself? He did not know, but listened anyways. “How was it?”
“Uhhhhhh,” Komori said as he looked off to his right at nothing in particular and recalled the mission details. “Well it was a total disaster before I saved everyone,” he said in a pseudo tone befitting of his bravado with a big grin on his face. She raised an eyebrow at him and smirked, as she could tell when he was telling a tall tale. He sighed and decided to now tell the truth, as she could see right through him as well as being a blatantly honest person, even when he should not be. That would gradually change in the event that he was ever captured however, as he was only honest with those he respected, like his fellow comrades who were ahead of him on the path to the chuunin exams. His brother was just about done with his own, actually. This reminded Komori of his true reasoning for waking up early this morning and began heading towards the door, opening it and motioning with both his arms and his head, hopefully not in a manner which would make him look as stupid as, say, Komon, to Lilly, who had been sitting leaning against the back of their couch or in the event that couches were not a thing, the couch-like furniture that was consistent with the lore of the Naruto world. “I’ll tell you about it on the way. I do have an exam to take today, after all.”
The pair headed out the door and into the streets of the Village Hidden in the Clouds, talking along the way. Komori told the actual accurate details of their mission, including the embarrassing part of how his lack of foresight regarding chakra suppression and jutsu usage had led to putting someone weaker than him in danger. She could hear the regret in his voice and interlocked her arm with his in a method of comforting hom. Komori was shocked but did not necessarily show it in his body language, as he was simply caught off guard. He then enjoyed having her close to him for the rest of their walk while he still talked and continued on with the mission as he caught her up on what he had been doing, “And then the redheaded genin draws a kunai and he had such a scared look on his face. I was about to head over but then before I know it, this… chain thing manifested out of his body and impales the guy. It was like physical chakra or something. It pierced straight through the guy’ shoulder and held him against a tree. We had to treat him with field medical jutsu in order to make sure he didn’t die.” He lightly bumped her shoulder with his own, although not very roughly due to their close proximity. “We could’ve used your help.” He smiled at her as she blushed and turned away. Apparently she did not take compliments as well as Komori did. Regardless, he thought it was cute and they continued walking, talking about other various things.
Upon reaching the first part of the testing area, the two unenthusiastically unlinked arms and said their goodbyes. “Good luck, Komori,” she said as she gave him a sweet smile, “I look forward to hearing about your experience. She would then walk away as Komori thanked her while his gaze lingered a bit longer than it should have. Nonetheless, Komori turned away from her and headed inside the building with excitement. Upon entering, he was faced with a medium sized classroom that reminded him of his days at the academy. He began to think that he might have entered the wrong classroom before noticing the others in the room all had Kumogakure headbands fastened to various parts of their respective bodies. Scattered at various spots on the floor was other genin, presumably ones that had passed the first trial. One could see the diversity in the group, not necessarily due to skin tone or gender, but rather in the way in which the others displayed their genin headbands. Some, including himself, opted for the standard wearing upon their foreheads, yet others could be seen wearing them around their arms or as belts fastened around their waists and even one wrapped around someone’s ankle. Weird. He decided to sit down on the floor next to that particular genin and await further instruction. When he was distracted by talking to someone else, Komori took it upon himself to stealthily untie the ankleband(?) while still applying a moderate amount of pressure so the boy would not notice. Komori then subtly tied it around his other leg, thankful that he was wearing long pants, so that he would not feel the effects against his skin. Komori then stood up and looked around in the most innocent way possible.
Their proctor then poofed into the center of the room, which immediately caused the various fellow genin that Komori did not know nor really cared to, as he was comfortable with his group of friends, to stop talking and begin paying attention. The proctor had long yet unkempt dark brown hair and wore his under suit that was typically associated with jounin past his neck and covering the lower portion of his chin. What struck the young genin as odd, however, was that unlike apparently most people in the Village Hidden in the Clouds, he wore a smile on his face. It as a cocky grin but also showed someone that enjoyed his job and it could also be inferred that the man enjoyed his life. He was roughly twenty something yet did not have any facial hair. “Alright, youngsters!” the man said despite not being even two decades older than most people in the room. “I have in my hands a bunch of notecards that I’m supposed to say, ‘Blah, blah, blah,’ welcome to the second preliminaries.” Komori could already tell this proctor would be much different than the last one that he had. Komori then noticed a devious glint in the man’s eye and he seemed to be looking at him. What? “Okay, guys, let’s all stand up and get to the door. Last one there, fails!” At this, the group of genin immediately rushed to stand up. However, the genin that Komori had messed with immediately tripped over his own stupid placement of his headband and as such, could not make it to the door. The proctor then went “Oooooh, sorry, buddy. You can try again next week.” The kid looked like he was about to cry so the proctor gave up his act, “I’m just kidding with you, come on.” How someone like this stayed so upbeat around all the death surrounding Kumogakure was a mystery. “We’re taking a field trip.”
The genin were then led out of the building in a group. Komori could vaguely make out the walls of a circular building that did not appear to have a roof which he had never noticed before. He never really came to this side of the village as much, as this was closer to the office of the raikage which still creeped him out a bit. The structure must have been further away than it seemed, as it took a while to get there. Komori was just reviewing to himself about which jutsu of his he would demonstrate to the judges when he was pushed from behind. He fell to the ground and noticed that he was beginning to get surrounded. It was then that he noticed the feet in front of him. One of the person’s ankles was sporting a Kumogakure headband. “You have got to be kidding me,” he muttered to himself.
“Get up,” came a voice from above him. He stood up and brushed himself off.
“Is there a problem?” he asked in a rather cocky manner. He hated being pushed around.
“You need to apologize,” was the boy’s reply. “Now.” He was rather bigger than Komori so he did not want to risk getting into a fist fight with him, especially since he was unaware of the boy’s possible moves. For all he knew, this guy could be as skilled as Reizo in taijutsu. Although judging from his build, he was probably much slower. Speaking of Reizo, Komori made a mental note to himself to have him teach a couple of tai moves. And he could have sworn that Reizo had mentioned wanting to see if he could learn water chakra nature, so Komori would gladly exchange his knowledge for that of his comrade. Unless he had imagined it, in which case, he would be very disappointed.
“I prefer not to fight when I don’t have to, so I’ll just apologize.” Komori cleared his throat and said, “I’m sorry…” The boys smiled obviously pleased with their intimidation factor. “-that you have no sense of humor.” With that Komori smiled in the face of his impending beatdown. Or at least that is what he wanted them to think. The biggest one with the ankleband began to try to throw a simple punch at Komori, but he was much slower than himself, so Komori had time to liquify and turn into a puddle. This caused the boy to punch another one of his friends square in the jaw. Once he was distracted by his friend, Komori reformed behind him and warned them, “I was just pulling a prank by messing with your headband placement. I mean seriously, guy. Have some self respect. Anyways, we’re all here to become chuunin right? Let’s not fight each other… Yet anyways. If you want to get even, invite me to the training grounds or something for a spar.” With that, he turned and walked away as the group tended to their injured friend.
On their march towards the field trip’s destination, the lead proctor pulled him aside. Komori immediately spoke up for himself, “Before you say anything, I didn’t even touch the dude.”
The proctor responded by saying, “Look kid, you’re not in trouble or anything. I tend to let situations resolve themselves unless lives are in danger. But I do like your style and think that it would be great if you got promoted. You'd make escort missions and the like less boring so I'm gonna do you a bit of a favor here.” Komori was rather stunned that his borderline annoying personality had managed to earn him favor. He lowered his voice, “And just between you and me, I don't really care for these other genin. It's almost like they don't have any personality of their own or something. Especially the one with the headband around his ankle, like kid. It’s a HEADband. Kids these days…” He lifted up his head and looked over towards the other genin, some of whom ducked their heads, as they had been looking towards Komori, probably assuming he was being ridiculed about some random thing. He turned back to Komori, “All these other guys are gonna be doing their own thing, but since I noticed your puddle prowess back on the march, I thought you might want to study a bit more before hand,” the proctor said as he pulled out a book. “This here is a detailed list of water style ninjutsu. Between you and me, I’d like you to spend some alone time to practice. That way we don’t get any of these other guys interrupting you.”
The proctor went to hand the book to Komori as he reached out his hand before quickly moving his forearm up straight into the air while keeping his elbow level, at a roughly 45 degree angle. He then said to him before leaving him alone with the book still in his own hand, “Try learning a technique or two. The judges always love seeing how quickly a shinobi can progress. The more complicated, the better. As long as you get it right, that is.” He smirked and handed Komori the book before he put his hands in his pockets and leaving Komori alone in the small hallway. Komori felt the pressure of the upcoming exams. He was thankful that there were other genin testing in front of him, which gave him time to practice, as well as a proctor kind enough to give him some time and loan him a book in order for Komori to get in some last minute studying as he stayed away from the rest of his teammates who were practicing closer to the entrance. It seemed as though some overconfident students were already prepared to take their exams. Komori hoped they were ready, as it would benefit the Village Hidden in the Clouds, but it might also mean that there would be less spots for genin like himself to be able to attain the next rank. He shrugged the thought aside and began reading the book.
“The more complicated, the better,” Komori mumbled to himself over and over as he flipped through page after page, seeing intriguing jutsu but nothing that was flashy enough for him to be comfortable performing. He had already taken the liberty of skipping through the ranking system presenting within the book, opting instead to show off the stronger jutsu, perhaps an A rank and a B rank water ninjutsu move, as that was his specialty. Komori would stumble upon multiple jutsu of each type, none of which seemed to be as flashy as he wanted to perform. “Come on, come on, come on…” Komori said as he flipped through pages upon pages. Luckily this book was one of the most organized compilations of techniques that he had ever seen, so he was easily able to find a B ranked water ninjutsu technique that he planned on performing. It would only require 10 handseals and was not terribly demanding. Especially in comparison to the flashiest move that he could find. This A rank water move that he had stumbled upon could require up to 44 separate handseals. “This should seriously impress them… that is if I’m able to learn this in such a short period of time.” It was at that time that Komori heard the sound of thunder, followed shortly by the sight of a bleached blond haired boy walking out of a tunnel that seemed to be connected to a circular building. He walked past Komori before realizing who he was and saying, “Oh. It’s you.”
Standing in Komori’s way was Joka. He was not necessarily his rival, more like an obnoxious dick who was in the Village Hidden in the Clouds as well. His rival would more likely be his twin brother Komon, although he was far, far behind him in terms of skill in power. It was almost like Komori had more of a life than him or something. But back to the main point. Joka was in the middle of gloating or something, but Komori had completely tuned him out so he had no idea what was being said. “-and then I made a bolt of lightning strike from the sky. I totally impressed this one cute blonde and - hey, dumbass, are you even listening to me?”
“No,” was his simple reply.
“You piss me off.”
Komori smiled in return, “Wouldn’t have it any other way. Now why don’t you get out of here, I need to study.”
“Pfft. I just passed that with flying colors.”
Komori could not hide his look of shock, “They told you already?”
Joka scoffed, “They didn’t have to. I know how great I am,” he said pointing to himself.
Geez, is this what I look like? I’m gonna have to cut back on that quite a bit. It’s pretty annoying.
“Oh, whatever.” Komori used his hydrification technique to release a small puddle at his feet, unbeknownst to Joka. As the bleach blond haired boy began walking away, Komori noticed him attempting to stealthily sign handseals. A small bubble began taking shape at his feet. Joka turned around prepared to strike him with some lightning technique but was immediately stopped by a water balloon to the face. He was knocked backwards and landed on his keister. Komori did not even look up, “Like I said, I have to finish studying.” Is this the effect that Lilly had on him? That he was not actively seeking out combat? Once again, it appeared as though she matured him, even when she was not around.
Komori read these books zealously. It was like he was a thirteen year old who just found a dirty magazine under his dad’s bed. Except this was the Village Hidden in the Clouds, so there probably were not any dirty magazines. And besides, his dad was dead. The point is that Komori read the ninjutsu book with enthusiasm. One of the techniques which he wished to show off consisted of forty freaking four handseals. This was easily the largest amount of handseals necessary for a technique, at least in his experience. “Ox and Monkey to Hare to Rat to Bird?... no wait Boar is next, then Bird. Followed by Ox which is on farms just like a Horse. Then Bird again and birds eat Rat-s and rats are eaten by cats, like a Tiger. After a cat would be a Dog then the cat again Tiger. Snake to Ox to Ram back to Snake which is before Boar back to Ram again. Holy crap this is a lot. Then its back to Rat then… Yang Water? Oh that’s how you sign that. Monkey and Bird then what I’m trying to perform, the Dragon. Back to Bird and Ox and the farm animal Horse to the other plains animal Ram. Tiger and its jungle friend Snake which will eat a Rat. Then the next at this point is… Komon. I mean Monkey. Hare which goes to Boar back to Dragon. This has a lot of repeats holy crap. Ram and Rat to Ox and Monkey and Bird. Yang Water, once again, but I need to check how to sign that again really quickly… and I need to stop saying everything out loud but I’ll do that later. Finally, we have Rat, Boar and ends on a Bird.” Komori put the book down. “How the hell am I supposed to remember that.”
“You’re up, kiddo.” The overzealous proctor had returned. Komori gave him back the loaned book, which the proctor would stash in one of the assorted pockets on his vest. As he was escorting Komori down a rather dimly lit hallway with a bright entrance at the end of the passage, he gave the future chuunin the last bit of advice that he could in order to make sure that he was as prepared as possible. He really had taken a liking to Komori. “When you walk inside, there will be several people monitoring you. Some of these are wealthy citizens wanting to see which chuunin they like best, and as a result, which one they want to hire. But there is really only a single judge who will be grading you on the jutsu performed. Don’t mess up, kid.” The jounin once again put his hands in his pocket and started walking away. Komori was hesitant to step forward until he heard the man’s voice chime in from behind, “I’ll look forward to seeing you on a mission sometime, Komori!” This gave him the confidence boost that he need in order to step into the light source at the end of the hall. After his eyes adjusted from the light of the searing sun, he noticed that he had entered a circular arena, reminiscent of an ancient coliseum but on a smaller scale without a roof, with a roughly 50 meter radius. Komori took in his surroundings as he walked towards the center. The area was rather empty. There was not even a simple pond for those who utilized water style. That might be to test one’s ability to perform the water based ninjutsu in areas without a water source. That was actually pretty clever, as it would allow the rich citizens to see which water style users were the most competent.
The young genin bowed to the onlookers. He lifted his head and looked up to the spectator box before projecting in a loud voice, “My name is Komori Hozuki of the Village Hidden in the Clouds. I am able to perform both water release as well as lightning release ninjutsu, in addition to other combat styles, such as taijutsu.” To emphasize his lightning nature, Komori activated the chain of handseals which consisted of Ox → Rabbit → Monkey or Monkey → Dragon → Rat → Bird → Ox → Snake → Dog → Tiger and finally Monkey. His arm then lit up with a fierce blue and white lightning, which was accompanied by the sound of one thousand chirping birds. He then deactivated the technique before continuing, “However, I specialize in ninjutsu. For this performance, I will be demonstrating water release jutsu, as it is my speciality, as my heritage as a Hozuki seems to calls for.” For added emphasis, Komori quickly turned into a puddle and reformed in a moments notice. “I also have a very effective method of surviving many attacks that any enemy shinobi may use against me, as I just demonstrated before you all.” He hated this. He felt as though he was some sort of circus animal set up to do tricks. However, he swallowed his pride in order to impress those that would hire him as well as providing support to the cloud, and finally, allowing him to be able to continue on his path to chuunin.
He inhaled before he then looked up at the relatively cloudless sky and decided to let the mystery judge have a performance to remember him by. Komori would then call out to the spectators, who were comfortably sitting in the only part of the arena that contained a roof, so that they were shaded from the heat of the sun overhead. “Although i don’t seem to notice any clouds today. How about I change that?” After his rhetoric question, Komori would then sign the handseal chain of Bird → Rat → Ox → Monkey → Rat → Snake which would cause the skies above to darken in what has become one of his signature moves and a torrent of rain began to pour out in a one mile radius. Komori had a habit of pacing when he was nervous while talking, so he gave into moving about as his primary focus was not only demonstrating jutsu “This is called the Rain Tiger at Will Technique. It allows me to sense everything around me within a certain radius,” Komori said aloud to the judges. He would cause the rain to lighten around his words so that he was sure that they could hear him. “For example, I can tell that there is a bird that was flying and once my rainfall began, it decided to take shelter. However, it has places to be, you know, so it seems to be preparing to take off. I’ll make its journey a little easier.” The rain now lightened up into a small drizzle as a hawk took off from behind Komori. It flew past him and towards the spectator box before flying over and soaring off into the distance. “Going, going, going, aaaaaaand, gone.” Komori hid a smile as he was even impressed with himself. “This technique was one of the first I wanted to learn, as it provides me with a sensory boost that would allow me to better acknowledge my surroundings as well as the position of my allies. Hopefully, these allies of mine would be a squad of genin that I would be able to watch out for and protect.” Komori bowed towards his spectators before he would turn to demonstrate other techniques as well. The rain picked up in order to flood the arena even further, thus providing him with a water source. He would need quite a reservoir if he was going to be able to successfully pull off the two main techniques he planned to demonstrate.
Komori focus his chakra towards the collected rainwater on the ground as he performed the Tiger → Ox → Dragon → Hare → Dog → Bird → Rat → Clone seal → Dragon → Ram seals in a row, which would cause a portion of the largest puddle near Komori to rise from the ground and form itself into a large shark. He made sure that he was not draining his entire water supply, as he had further plans for it, which was the sole reason for keeping his Rain Tiger at Will Technique active, as it continually flooded the field in order to give him a water source for his water style ninjutsu techniques without having to be near a large body of water. And rain totally cancels out sound based genjutsu lol. The water would rise from the ground and shape itself into a small bullet like shape which would gradually expand with the addition of more water. It would slowly but surely began to develop small fins that would grow at a steady rate on both the sides and top of the central “body” so to speak. The tail would then develop next as the water flows through the body to the end, splitting out into a fan that resembles that of a biological shark’s tail and not the Dreamworks movie “Shark Tale”. Next was the head. The water elongated at what as determined as the head of the shark into the snout of one, which was rather triangulated and came to a blunt tip. However, the water would then flow underneath this false nose and began to form a mouth, complete with the rough estimate of three hundred teeth in the mouth of an actual great white shark. The water flowed from the body into this new mouth where it merged with the preexisting jaw and formed rows upon rows of teeth, that when finished, would be capable of tearing into any targets it was launched at. Upon the completion of its formation, Komori looked towards the spectator box to see if his judge was paying attention. Various spectators were talking amongst themselves, which frustrated Komori quite a bit. He yelled out the name of the technique, “Water Release: Water Shark Bullet Technique!”
Komori aimed towards the spectator box and launched his hands forward, sending the shark hurtling at the spectator’s. For better or for worse, they would remember who Komori Hozuki was. The 20 foot great white made entirely of water was launched at the box before being cancelled and collapsing into a pool of water 5 meters from reaching the outside of the box, as it was just heading there and was not meant to reach it or to actually place anyone into the way of harm. Komori would be seen raising a clenched fist into the hair as an aftereffect of his cancellation of the water shark as he smirked in a way that demonstrated a mild hint of pride in his attention grabbing technique. He lowered his hand and spoke up in a manner that displayed confidence and yet did not show any arrogance. “Now that I have your attention,” Komori performed the clone handseal, “I would like to show another usage for this technique.” He had his clone stand roughly 30 meters away from him as he would now perform the handseal chain which consisted of Tiger → Ox → Dragon → Hare → Dog → Bird → Rat → Clone seal → Dragon → Ram. This time, after the process of the shark being formed, Komori pushed it towards the shadow clone, this time riding within its confines. He did not even have to use his hydrification kekkei genkei, as this was merely a perk of the technique. His speed within the shark was boosted drastically as he then willed the teeth composed entirely of his chakra infused water to dull in order to not cause himself immense pain. He then collided with his shadow clone, tearing into him with the now dulled watery teeth, which were still powerful enough in order to cause the short lived Komori clone to disperse in a cloud of smoke. He then used body flicker to appear in front of the judge’s panel once more. “This technique allows for one to increase their speed, although it works best in a large body of water, while also doubling as an offensive move. This was a showing of how, even when I dulled the teeth this for performance as to not overkill my shadow clone, as I receive its memories when it poofs away.”
“This next technique will arguably be one of, if not the, strongest in my arsenal of jutsu for the time being. However, I will not limit myself to this, as I plan to train to the fullest of my ability, assorted sirs and madams.” This level of formality was something that Komori was not used to, but was not opposed to performing if it meant being able to further himself in these exams, or the base reason which would be that one should always respect their elders. “This will allow me to provide major firepower in a way that would allow me to support my allies or draw attention to myself in order to buy injured comrade’s time to escape.” Now was the perfect time to show off. Komori began signing furiously, as this technique would take intense focus on the manner which his hands had to move, as it required 44 handseals. This was arguably the most complex jutsu he had ever learned. The jutsu started to swirl around him simply after performing 22 of the required handseals instead of the 44 stated, but Komori was determined to perform all 44 handseals in order to maximize the impression that he would make upon the judge as well as other onlookers. Although it would seem that his chakra potency was enough to cut the required handseals in half, but he was determined to follow the book word for word. During this process of quickly switching between handseals, sweat began to drip down the forehead of the young genin, either getting soaked up by the fabric of his headband or slowly dripping down the side of his concentrated face. He had not managed to perform this technique in his last minute training session, and as such, was focusing with an intensity that of which he had never shown before in any of his other endeavors. Even on the mission which he had put his team in trouble, he had taken the entire situation rather lightly, as his arrogance had led to placing an inexperienced medic in harm’s way.
His body tensed up at the through but he went through the rest of the massive and demanding handseal chain and, boy, was it a lot: Ox → Monkey → Hare → Rat → Boar → Bird → Ox → Horse → Bird → Rat → Tiger → Dog → Tiger → Snake → Ox → Ram → Snake → Boar → Ram → Rat → Yang Water → Monkey → Bird → Dragon → Bird → Ox → Horse → Ram → Tiger → Snake → Rat → Monkey → Hare → Boar → Dragon → Ram → Rat → Ox → Monkey → Bird → Yang Water → Rat → Boar → Bird. This technique took quite some time to form, and as it was mentioned before, the water source created from his Rain Tiger at Will Technique had begun to gather into a ring around his person. At first, it was merely a coil of water roughly 10 meters, around his body. Then as more and more of the rainwater infused with his chakra began to gather towards the continually rising current of water, it began to expand outward and upward at the same time, eventually reaching around 25 meters out. The jutsu began to rise about 25 meters into the air as well, leaving a perfectly symmetrical cylinder shaped coil of water. The water would now begin to take shape in a manner that resembled the first water style technique that he had learned, which was Water Release: Snake’s Mouth. The top of the coil continued to rise as the base began to become stagnant Then it continued further. The top began to converge into a mass of water similar to the head of a serpent. The jutsu would then reach its maximum radius at his current chakra level as well as reach roughly 30 meters into the grey sky. Komori finished the handseal chain as the top of the formation now fully shaped itself into the head of a massive serpent and slightly shifted to that of a dragon. Water formed at the back of its pseudo head and began to move backwards, shaping into the facial tendrils associated with the structure of the dragon’s skull. The mouth made of water opened up as its eyes began to glow with a luminescent yellow light as it opened its mouth. Komori felt his chakra surging into the formation of the dragon as he yelled towards the wall at the opposite end of the arena.
The arena consisted of a rough 50 meter radius circle, which if the jutsu book any earlier had been any indication, would be less than the maximum range of this jutsu. Not bothering to look at the spectators, he faced the wall to his right and to the left of the judge as he yelled the name of the jutsu, “Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!” This was a rather large scale modified version of the earlier jutsu that he had performed as they were both water bullet techniques that involved the use of water as a blunt destructive force. However, instead of a shark that was a mere 20 feet long, this jutsu was much larger, and if the book was accurate, would only manage to become bigger as Komori honed his chakra control. He launched the jutsu into the wall across from him at a power of 50 as well as a speed of 50, which could easily break through the wall at its full force. As the jutsu’s max range was 50 meters, the water dragon would reach towards the wall of the arena and reach its limit. Instead of bursting through the wall, simply the end of the snout of the aforementioned technique would make impact with the wall, leaving an impact against the wall. The epicenter would be about a 3 meter radius circle with multiple cracks stemming along in every possible direction, as the technique had smashed the wall. If he had performed it closer, it would have cleared through the wall, but he decided against that, as he thought it might be a good demonstration of power, but ultimately decided that it could be viewed as uncontrolled power and cost him the passing standard on his preliminary.
Komori exhaled heavily as the dragon collapsed into a massive puddle of water. He was rather winded, but did his best to conceal the amount of effort that he had to put into this. He did his best to not show how winded he truly was but still allowed himself to breathe through his mouth for the sake of being able to breathe as effectively as possible. Komori took deep breaths, in through his nose and out through his mouth before dispersing the clouds in the sky. It was later than it had been when he started, nearing maybe five or six in the afternoon. He then composed himself and bowed towards the spectators, some of which were still in shock at the sheer power and the scale of the jutsu just recently performed by the young genin. “Thank you for your time.” He would then turn around and walk towards the entrance where he was surprised to find the proctor from earlier.
“I feel sorry for the poor soul who has to clean all of this up after everybody performs.” He smiled.
“It’ll probably evaporate, you know.”
“Congratulations, Komori,” he said to the strapping young lad.
“But I haven’t found out whether or not I passed yet, sir?”
“Well if I was the judge, I would have let you,” he laughed, “I may be biased though. We can chat more when we eventually get to go on missions, but in the meantime I wanted you to have this.” He then handed Komori the book of water ninjutsu for him to learn. “Seemed to do you at least a couple of favors today. And no need to be formal with me, feel free to call me Appu. That is my name after all.”
“Wow, I don’t know what to say… besides ‘thanks’ but that’s pretty basic you know?”
Appu laughed again, “See you around, kid.” The fellow shinobi would then walk away, with his hands in his pockets, which seemed to be his signature walk.
With that conversation over with, Komori would head towards his home as fast as he could at his normal sprinting speed. He was rather tired from the exam earlier in the day, during which he most likely drained most of his chakra reservoir, which meant that he would not use lightning javelin nor body flicker on his way. Upon reaching his home, he would eagerly look out his front window to look for when he would be able to receive news of whether or not he had passed his trial exam.
