Another drop in the pool [Genin Exam]

Hachi couldn't sit still. Her mind was racing with everything she was going to be doing after this. The genin exam. There wasn't any going back after this, she'd be a full-fledged shinobi. A low ranked one of course, but still officailly recognized! She'll be expected to work hard, defend the village, grow stronger and... eventually fight. Really fight someone who wanted to kill her. It might not happen right away, but this was the path she was choosing to take. Everything she'd learned up to this was basic kid stuff, but she was about to enter the real dangerous world she had read about in stories... as long as she passed the exam procter's expectation anyways. 

[Requesting proctor]

Another day, another shinobi gets their headband. He received a summons to proctor a Genin Exam again. This time it was for a young female named Hachi Hozuki. It remained to be seen if she would pass or not, he was not at all pleased so when he arrived at the academy and found the room he was going to be in he walked in holding a hand board as he silently strode to the desk where he would sit.

"So, Ms. Hozuki I am Miyamoto Terumi, your exam proctor. I will expect everything done to the t, no workarounds and no shortcuts. First up, let's see the proper execution of the transformation technique." He said as he sat there looking like he was on autopilot.

Hachi flinched when she heard the door open, standing up straight, ready to be at attention for whatever teacher was entering the room... only to see a child. All the nervous thoughts left Hachi's mind, replaced only with two questions. What and Why? The young boy introduced himself while Hachi stared with a blank, confused expression on her face. It just... didn't make any sense. As he finished, she looked around a bit, checking for some sort of hidden cracks or anything. This... HAD to be some kind of trick right? But was the trick to call this out or to obey? Well... even if it was just a kid playing Procter... who was she to ruin his fun?

So she decided to roll with it, putting on a smile and nodding. "Yes sir, Mr.Terumi." Honestly she was thankful it was a child. It would have been awkward with someone her own age, and if it were someone older than her then she wouldn't have cared at all. Since it was someone so young though, the shock had cleared her head. This would be easy. Determinedly, she performed the handseals, flowing her chakra over her body as she performed the low-level jutsu. A small poof caused her to overlay the disguise onto herself, where the girl once stood there was now a woman who looked very similar to the academy student, though she was taller, dressed in white robes and with a considerably larger bust, a few wrinkles around her eyes that indicated clear signs of aging, as well as much longer hair that reached her back. The boy hadn't really given her a specific person to use the transformation on and she hadn't really looked at the details of his outfit and didn't want to fail for getting some of the specifics of his outfit wrong. So, she had decided to transform into her own mother, someone she saw so often her image was permanently burned into her mind. "Is this transformation satisfactory sir? Or, is there a specific one you'd like to see that's more difficult?"

Hachi was fairly certain this would be enough to pass the child's test, but she was playing along with the idea that the child was the procter. So, she would show him the respect that she would show any teacher. If this WAS some sort of trick, then playing it cool and not making a big reaction would surely ruin the trickster's plan to laugh at her freaking out. If this was just a child trying to act grown up without anyone influencing him, then it would probably make him happy to not be questioned and thrown out. She knew the desire to be a teacher all too well after all.

The sight of the much more mature female in front of him made him smirk momentarily. The trick was easily seen through, so when she finally spoke to him thinking she had done enough he dashed at his full speed behind her, silent as a ghost as he would look at the girls transformation.

“So, the adage of imitation being the most sincere form of flattery still holds true among those my age and even those a little older. Fair enough... the transformation is passable. Though I would say that there is also another Shinobi tool at the disposal of those using the transformation jutsu...sex appeal.” He would say before dashing back to his seat just as quickly and silently as he had appeared. Of course the Genin would not be able to se his movements at all nor hear them.

“Now let’s see the clone jutsu. So just for kicks...” he starts before tossing a kunai to the girl. The simple flick actually made the blade slam into the floor. “ Try to hit me with the kunai, and to finish it all off. Tell me the uses of these jutsu on the battlefield.” He finished as he watched her with a blank expression.

Hachi was caught off guard when the boy seemed to suddenly vanish from the desk, flinching when his voice was suddenly behind her. And what he said... s-sex appeal!? Why did such a young child know about sex appeal!? The Hozuki grew so flustered that as she tried to turn around to say something, her transformation broke, revealing her face flushed with red. But when she had turned around, the boy was gone again! He'd moved back to the desk and was continuing with the exam like nothing had happened! This joke was getting out of hand! How was he so fast!? This didn't make any sense! She knew most started their training younger than she had, but he was TOO young! 

The kunai hitting the floor next to her and the command to hit him was getting to be too much. Picking up the kunai was what finally set her off. Looking from the knife to the child, the joke had officially gone too far! She was supposed to try and stab or cut a CHILD?! "N-now hold on just a moment! This is-"
Wait... The joke... another possibility. Just as she had used the transformation jutsu... a more experienced ninja would be able to disguise themselves as a child with ease right? There's no way a kid could move that fast... of course, it's the only thing that made sense! Hachi took a deep breath and calmed herself. Of course cutting him would be part of the test, that would be enough pain to break the jutsu. "Sorry, nevermind. It's nothing."

With the kunai on hand, Hachi performed the seals for the Clone technique, copies of herself appeared on her right and left, mirroring her as she held the kunai at the ready and decided on a plan of attack. He was incredibly fast, that much she knew... "The clone technique can be used to throw off an enemy's aim and trick them into attacking where you aren't or dodging an attack that isn't there. Transformation in combat can be used to take advantage of terrain to disguise yourself then unleash a sneak attack. They both work best when your opponent hasn't seen you activate the jutsus, obviously."

Finally, Hachi would attack. She and each of her clones would leap over the desk at the child, aiming to slash at him. Knowing this wouldn't be enough, Hachi would begin liquifying before she reached the boy and splash the area where he had been sitting and most likely moved from. She would then try to reform her upper body as quickly as possible, facing whichever way he had dodged to and hurling the kunai, her clones copying her like mirror images. A desperate attack, but the best she could come up with when up against a superior ninja without the element of surprise at hand.

This was actually amusing to watch. The girl had apparently seen through his ruse as she seemed to lose her cool.  It didn’t change the issue at hand though so when he sat there stoic he thought that maybe the point had finally come across her.  The clone technique was easily enough performed with an explanation coming soon after.

The fun part came soon after though as she picked up the blade and attempted to attack him.  The issue would come when her “attempt” to slash him would work. The blade would touch his face and move down but it felt like a disposable plastic eating tool scraping across his face. So her throwing of the kunai would not happen.  Instead the chuunin would grab her wrist and pull her into the desk as he handed her the clipboard.

It read as follows;

Transformation: older female version of herself, sex appeal average for a female Shinobi...bigger bust maybe?

Clone: not bad at all, very easy to do...not much to mess up.

Additional notes:  may think that having a thirteen year old proctor an exam is a bit much...most people don’t realize the hilarity of it all.


Grade:  she passes I guess.


Miyamoto would let her go after giving her the clipboard.  His writing seemed easily done, but the movements would have never been seen by the girl in the first place.  When it was all said and done Miyamoto reached into his flak jacket and produced a shiny new headband.

“Here ya’ go kid.  Now I guess this is the part where I offer you lunch for doing a good job.  I’m feeling like some BBQ, you don’t mind do you?”  He would say as he would begin walking towards the door.  He would allow her to keep the kunai.

The ninja in training would go wide eyed when her kunai just... hit. He didn't move, the blade just, completely failed to harm him at all! All she could do was wordlessly stare as he handed her the clipboard, taking a few seconds to snap out of her amazement to read it. She would look up and accept the headband, looking between it and the book a few times with a smile. She passed... her smile faded however, replaced with an angry blush as she clutched the headband and hurried to catch up and yell at him. "W-wait just a minute! You're really only thirteen!? That wasn't just a thing to mess with me!? And why is my bust size important enough to be a part of your critique!? I turned into my mom you pervert!"
